"This quintessential Swiss inn makes for a seriously appealing culinary experience. It is all down to Richard and Yvonne Stöckli, who have been putting their heart and soul into this long-standing establishment since 1980. Friendly and efficient, she heads up the service team in the charming little dining room (judicious wine recommendations from a great selection), while he showcases his skills in the kitchen, conjuring up dishes distinguished by their craftsmanship, quality ingredients and punchy flavours. His interesting modern and seasonal set menu comprises four to seven courses. Delightful garden terrace – ask for one of the seats beneath the old plane tree. Tip: Cheese lovers should try the Nessleren Alpine cheese! The rustic bistro and pretty guestrooms complete this charming picture." - Michelin Inspector

Excellent place to spend Christmas with the friendliest of hosts.|Well placed hotel for peace and quiet, with traditional rooms and an amazing chef! All the staff are hardworking & professional and it was so good to be introduced to them on Christmas Eve at the family festivities. I will never forget my Swiss Christmas!|I hope to return …

I recently stayed at this hotel, and unfortunately, I left feeling quite disappointed. While the room itself was nice and comfortable, the bathroom left a lot to be desired. It was very small and felt outdated, like something out of the 1960s. The biggest issue, however, was with the water temperature in the shower, which kept fluctuating between too hot and too cold, making it difficult to enjoy. The breakfast offered was enjoyable with a good selection of food, but the breakfast room can get extremely busy and crowded. What truly soured the experience for me was the overall service, particularly at the hotel restaurant. The service was far from professional, with the waiter making an inappropriate comment about hoping we had enough “spare cash” to leave him a tip. I found this highly disrespectful and completely out of line. Additionally, upon checking out, we were in a hurry and forgot to return the plastic front door key. When I mentioned this to the front desk, I was met with the comment, “The key is not a souvenir,” which I found unnecessary and rude. I understand that humor may be part of the hotel’s style, but it made me feel very unwelcome. Overall, while the facilities were decent, the poor service left me with a negative impression of the hotel. I hope the management takes these issues into account for future guests.

Yet another wonderful stay at this traditional Swiss chalet Hotel in the delightful village of Wilderswil with it's own rail station only 15 minutes walk. There are so many great places to visit from this location. Food and staff were outstanding, the Christmas Eve dinner and entertainment, deserves a special mention. We will return. M & Y.

This visit was on a Great Railway Tour. The Room, Food Service, were all excellent.|The bed was very comfortable and the staff could not do enough to help you. The highlight of the stay was the the Christmas eve meal which consisted of multiple courses and non stop service of wine.

Had a couple of nights there in August whilst doing the Junfraujoch trip. It is a really nice 400 year old building to stay in, but a building that old poses problems for the modern traveler. Firstly, no elevator so you'll potentially have to wrangle your suitcases up three flights of stairs. Secondly, there are a limited number of electrical outlets in the rooms so charging your technology can be challenging. We had one single outlet available for use in the entire room, but had to unplug the TV to be able to use it. Thirdly, the lighting can be a bit on the dim side in the bathrooms for ladies applying make-up. We pointed out three lights in the room that were either not working or gave off inadequate light and the staff came round and changed them. In a room costing north of CHF250/night though these items should be checked before arrival. There's no a/c which can make the rooms quite hot in high summer. If you can live with all that, you'll have a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Beds were very comfy, breakfasts were tasty and the staff bent over backwards to try to accommodate us.
