Anne de Bretagne

"On the south bank of the Loire estuary, this large contemporary building stands facing the small port of Gravette. Mathieu Guibert is the talented chef here. Originally from the Pays de Retz and the son of a farmer, he has forged solid links with producers from the region who are just as passionate about what they do as he is. It is no surprise that seafood plays a leading role here. Depending on the catch of the day, the menu might feature whiting from small-scale fishing accompanied by iodine-rich cockles; pollack delicately preserved in a watercress sauce; thick carpaccio of Breton langoustines and parmesan emulsion (his signature dish!). Impeccable and smiling service orchestrated by Claire Bâcle. A moment well spent!" - Michelin Inspector

Superb 2* Michelin restaurant specialising in fish and local produce accompanied by an excellent wine list. Service impeccable.

What a great stay we had! A nice bottle in the room with a nice view of the sea, a relaxing massage before dinner. Then a terrific tasting menu with excellent wine pairing in the beautiful restaurant. To wrap up a relaxing breakfast in the room admiring the sea. It’s of course a bit pricey, but worth every penny. Highly recommended!

Just the top ! Super friendly and professional staff, helpful explanations about the dishes and their origin. Paired wines are just perfect. The chef-owner is always ready to welcome you. The staff is really as excepted, and very customer friendly . Perfect cuisine and at home feeling staff. I'll come back! As I do 5 times a year. .

As I have already commented in my review of the gastronomic restaurant, Anne de Bretagne has a truly exceptional staff. Everyone we encountered was kind, charming and focused on making sure we and other guests felt pampered.||It is an older property with a long tradition of hospitality. The current ownership has certainly taken many steps to enhance its value and vitality. The setting is exquisite. The Relais and Chateaux high standards are generally fulfilled. While we didn't use the pool and spa facilities, they are part of its strong suit. ||There were a few minor and correctable deficits. To us they were pretty obvious, and that is why I haven't given the same Excellent rating that I did with the restaurant. ||The bed in our room could/should have been 10-12 centimeters longer. It is not very pleasant to have your feet hanging over the side. All of the bed pillows were as hard as seat cushions. I don't think it is asking too much to have a few down or synthetic soft pillows.||To plug in a laptop or recharge a phone, one has to pull the plug on a lamp or a coffee machine. Even in a "non-business" hotel these days, these are common requirements.||The shower head was "adequate", if not of a full modern standard. Clarins makes nice products, but those tiny, 5 or 6 centimeter travel bottles are more suitable for budget motels.||As a hotel catering to many international guests, why is there no English language television news? The television guide lists CNN and MSNBC or CNBC, but they were "unavailable".||For a hotel with a 2 star restaurant, the breakfast was surprisingly "ordinary". Yes, the service matched the warmth of the restaurant, and the slow cooked scrambled eggs were interesting, but breads, pastries, juice, coffee and yogurt were more 3 star hotel standard.||The porch attached to our room was quite lovely, overlooking the pool and countryside.||We have stayed in 17 hotels on this trip alone, and this one needs to up its game. Still, we would be delighted to return.|

Stayed two nights and enjoyed the 2 star restaurant which lived up to its billing...and a great wine choice by sommelier. The room was lovely as was the pool. The service in restaurant was flawless. In the hotel it was partly really outstanding (especially one gentleman who called me overseas to help with a dinner booking for one night elsewhere) and partly a bit sub par (one young lady who said she would tell us when room was ready but forgot all about it and frankly seemed bored and disinterested in guests).

Excellent experience ! Dinner at the restaurant was simply the best one my wife and I had in our life. Bravo to the staff who made this experience exceptional for us and our 11 months daughter

What a lovely spot and first class service! After the half day drive from Paris, we were welcomed warmly and promptly. The staff was super accomdating with absolutely everything ... extra hangers, toiletries are Clarins and were wonderfully refreshing. The beds are uber comfortable, and it was pleasant to sleep with window open. The view of the seaside is incredible, and the walking path is just in front of the hotel. The attached restaurant has impeccable cuisine, and we even got a souvenir print out of our dinner menu. A beautiful little tote bag with two bottles of water was a very nice touch, and we certainly appreciate them caring for us so well! An extra thanks for calling to notify us of a t-shirt left behind and offer to put it in the post to join us at their sister hotel in Hauts Roches

We were delighted with our first visit to this lovely stylish hotel. Unlike some Atlantic coast hotels Anne de Bretagne has a fresh modern feel but with a warm welcome for us and our dog Annie from all the staff. The location is gorgeous with access to a beach just over the road and lovely views of the see from our superb suite. Most of all however, we enjoyed our best meal in France in the two star restaurant. The flavours were exceptional throughout and there was no e of the pretentiousness that can occasionally be associated with restaurants of this calibre. We look forward to returning next year, we can hardly wait.
