Vieux Pont

"Nestling in a leafy green site and dominated by its castle, the quaint village of Belcastel rises up on the right bank of the Aveyron River. Work up an appetite by strolling along its cobbled streets and up and down its steep paths! Quietly feeding hungry travellers is something of a tradition in this family-owned business opened by the grandparents of sisters Nicole and Michèle Fagegaltier, now at the helm. The enticing menu naturally highlights local delicacies such as lamb and veal from Aveyron and Ségala, Aubrac beef, Bigorre black pig and sweet onions from Cévennes, without forgetting fish and farmer cheeses. Stock of caramelised sweet onions, Laguiole braised cabbage, or Greffeuille lamb sweetbread, sorrel-flavoured mayonnaise and grilled leeks. This old bridge believes in food that satisfies the soul and the appetite!" - Michelin Inspector

Definitely a better than normal Michelin 1*. Could be 2* and I wouldn't argue. Excellent (again).

The restaurant is exceptional, service is good, food tasty and creative, wine list expansive, locale can't be beat...and the owners and staff are friendly. One of the top restaurants in France.

Fine dining next to the Aveyron river in a beautiful little stone village. The two fixed menus take the best of local produce: asparagus, river salmon, poultry and lamb from the hillsides around the valley. Sauces are light but packed with fresh flavours, dishes are beautifully presented with wild leaves and flowers. A plentiful cheese trolley showcases the best cow, sheep and goat's milk from the area. Deserts are exquisite, with distinctive touches - Szechuan pepper in a chocolate ice. A feast for the eyes and palate.

2023 Aug. Our second year at the restaurant was also fantastic. Great service and fantastic food. It’s also open in august which is great! (Usually in Europe it’s difficult to find a restaurant which is open in Aug) You need to book in advanceZ. The staff speak some English.

The setting of the hotel in this "plus beau village de France" is idyllic, with the hotel one side of the river Aveyron and the restaurant on the other side, with the chateau dominating the village. The views (everywhere) are amazing. We spent two nights here in September and very much enjoyed our stay. The room was very comfortable and well appointed (but a tea/coffee making facility would be good). The restaurant is superb - a Michelin star (and well merited), with excellent locally-sourced products. Highly recommended.

I was invited here for a birthday lunch - and what a wonderful experience it was. The food - excellent. The service equally excellent. Something to save for - something to savour. The presentation of each dish was wonderful - and the atmosphere for eating (and drinking) was exceptional. Charming host and chef. Highly recommended - and I look forward t going back - before my next birthday.

A very sweet hotel in the absolutely gorgeous medieval village of Belcastel. It would be very easy for a hotel in such a stunning location to not make an effort. They would still have a captive market as Belcastel is one of "Plus Beaux Villages" of France. But, to its credit, the small Hôtel Du Vieux Pont makes every effort to ensure guests have an enjoyable stay. Our room - overlooking the village and river - was modern and very comfortable and breakfast was delicious (lots of options including locally-made pastries). The dining room is quite small but, in the warmer months, the hotel also serves breakfast outside, by the river. One of the best things about staying in Belcastel is that, by the end of the day, you pretty much have the village to yourself as day trippers head home. Dinner options are limited but there's the hotel's Michelin-starred restaurant as well as Chez Anna (a local restaurant which also has a mini supermarket). (We didn't try either, choosing to picnic by the river instead.) The staff were very friendly and helpful and, last but not least, the hotel also offers free guest parking ... a big bonus in such a tiny village. Would love to return one day. Highly recommend.

An incredible view of beautiful Belcastel and the Pont. We had very nice rooms, well appointed and comfortable beds. The breakfast was great! Fresh bread, croissants, homemade jams from the one Michelin star restaurant and the service was excellent. As a side note, best cup of coffee I had in France. This view from the rooms is breathtaking.
