Great place to stay in Vinschgau with very friendly staff and great traditional food.

We had a corner suite which was amazing. Not too many rooms and so little noise and disturbance of the other guests. The whole of the hotel is beautifully decorated with antiques combined with new things. Every staff member made us feel very welcome.

Hotel Hanswirt exceeded all our expectations. Only a ten days before we left for a weekend in the vicinity of Meran/Boozen (South Tyrol), we found Hotel Hanswirt by browsing the internet and checking their website. We booked a junior suite (the doubles were already taken) directly with the hotel. ||||On arrival we were very pleasantly surprised when we were told we would get a free upgrade from a junior to a full suite (thanks Magdalena). From there on it only went upwards! The room was stunning and fully equipped. We reserved for dinner in the restaurant of the hotel (also open to non guests) where we had a delicious dinner served in the most elegant way. After a coffee and a grappa, we immediately reserved a table for the following evening since there were other dishes on te menu that we wanted to try.|| ||The buffet breakfast was an abundance of good, fresh and delicious food; and again brought by a staff excelling in friendliness and service.||The second evening a wedding party with dinner and music took place in the hotel, however (against our fears) nothing came in the way of service in the restaurant. The staff really made time for you to have a little chat or explain the menu or suggest appropriate wine. Although the wedding party was at full steam when we returned to our room, we heard nothing (even when sleeping with a window open!).||||After again a good nights sleep and wonderful breakfast we took a swim in the pool before checking out. Unfortunately we haven't got a chance to use the wellness facilities, but since we already decided to come back, we will try it next time.||||One thing that reconfirmed our impression of the quality of this hotel, was the relations between staff and guests: probably most of them were couples that came there already for quite a few times. ||||Should you ever decide to visit South Tyrol definitely try to get your accommodation with Hotel Hanswirt!

The hotel, the premises, the garden, the spa area, the staff, the owners, the food and the love for detail and hospitality, which is visible in each corner of the hotel, is unbeatable. We are making sure to come At Least once a year and can highly and honestly recommend it to anyone who feels worthy of such unique and authentic hospitality in Alto Adige/Südtirol. - organic, regional & superb cuisine - lovely pool, wellness area and garden - spacious, quiet and cosy rooms - great staff and even greater hosts/owners - lots of things to do around the area: hikes, walkes, wine tastings, bike tours, museums and even shopping in Merano& Bolzano - perfect mixture of the best Italy and Austrian influence has to offer

My wife and I stayed 4 nights at the Hotel Hanswirt with 6 other family members. Overall, we really enjoyed the hotel. Our room, number 306, was spacious and comfortable. My only complaint is that the bed comforter was very thick, and it became too hot to sleep underneath at night in early September. We didn't open the windows because of concern about mosquitos getting into the room. We had an outside balcony overlooking the swimming pool area. The restaurant served a variety of tasty food. he breakfast buffet was extensive. The swimming pool contained a jetted area with bench seats. The water was cool. Inside in the spa area were showers, a plunge "tub", two saunas, a steam room, and a jacuzzi with cool water; clothing was optional. You could walk down the hallway and look into one of the larger saunas through a clear glass window. My wife and I got massages; the touch was light, not as firm as most massages we get.||||The hotel was centrally located for exploring the region (hiking, visiting wineries and apple orchards, and seeing Ötzi the Iceman at the Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano). We liked the fact that we were in (northern) Italy, while speaking German, and enjoying Austrian cuisine. ||||The hotel was very helpful with coordinating visits and arranging a driver to take us to different places in the area. The hotel also found local guides, who were excellent.

This summer I visited the Hanswirt Hotel for the 3rd Summer in a row. This historic country hotel has been family owned for over 400 years. The rooms are spacious, modern in design and have all modern amenities. The hotel also has a beautiful wellness area (spa treatments are also available) and outside swimming pool. Hotel comes with free parking, but you can also opt to use the garage for which you will have to pay a small fee per day. ||The Family Laimer (owners) are all involved in the day to day running of the hotel. They and their staff are very friendly and will do their utmost to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Their restaurant serves local and italian cuisine and is of a very high standard. Their wines list is extensive but also offers wines of the local vineyards. Breakfast buffet is outstanding. They have a wonderful large terrace and several small cosy sud tirol style rooms where you can enjoy a meal and/or drink. The restaurant is considered a well known local hot spot.||One downside is the Via Venosta - the busy road the leads to Merano and Switzerland/Austria. Although you don't notice in the hotel itself, when eating on the terrace the noice of the many cars, motorcycles and trucks are somewhat of a turn off.

Absolutely heavenly. Truly heavenly. Wonderful menu. Perfect rooms. Utmost personalized service. Excellent wine list. I could go on and on dreaming about this place and I now it would be very boring to read. Joke apart, that truly has been one of the most personal welcomes ever coupled with an excellent lunch and perfect dinner experience. The room we booked at last minute, whilst having lunch, was very spcaious and quiet. I will go back frequently, whenever I am in the region of have not plans for the weekend. Simply world-class, maybe also because the family who owns and operated the place has been on it since the early 16th century. Probably something many others could learn a lot from. Well done!

Great hotel, nice staff. Before booking I was concerned about the noise that could come from the street just in front of it, but on a Friday night I had no issue at all. Gorgeous spa and outside area. The religious decorations are a bit out of place, but that's a minor thing. Hoping to go back!
