La Table du Centenaire

"This historical establishment in Les Eyzies has been enjoying a new lease of life since it was taken over by chef Mathieu Métifet. Previously an oyster farmer, he draws his inspiration from the Dordogne and draws on fish and seafood for his generous and personal cuisine, as in his signature dish, "Le Centenaire's unmissable razor clams with a morel cream and home-smoked duck breast". Ingredients sourced from carefully selected small-scale local producers." - Michelin Inspector

We only stayed two nights to see caves, but our visit was memorable. Our room was lovely, spacious and well-appointed with many special touches. The concierge staff was wonderful, accommodating and gracious. Bistro chez Chole was fabulous too; we had breakfast and dinner there all during our stay. Upon arrival for dinner our first night we enjoyed an aperitif in the little sitting room off the lobby. It was a perfect welcome to this beautiful spot! If we ever come back to the area, we would definitely book here again. A very special place.

I have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years, through work, and often they are sub-standard or overly-pretentious. Le Centenaire is neither. It is high quality, comfortable with very helpful staff. We were in Les Eyzies for an anniversary celebration with friends and stayed at Le Centenaire for 3 nights. We booked a standard room but we were upgraded to a top-quality room upon check in. The room was lovely, as was the pool. Chloe and her team made us feel really welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were very good and the anniversary lunch was excellent. I cannot recommend it more highly.

A perfect short break away for my 50th birthday. We stayed in a lovely room, with an extremely comfortable bed and well-appointed en-suite. The welcome iced tea was delicious and the locally made soaps were lovely. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice so you could have whatever you wanted, hot drinks and foods made to order when you arrived. The pool was well-situated and a real sun trap and we enjoyed a couple of very refreshing dips after long, hot days.

We had a wonderful stay at Le Centenaire. It really is a fabulous hotel. It is all the extra little touches that make it so special. Our room was big and well appointed. Our bed was also very large and very comfortable. The facilities at this hotel really are excellent. Les Eyzies is a very nice place to stay. It s a charming town steeped in history. We would definitely return to both Les Eyzies and Le Centenaire, the next time we are in The Dordogne.

Overall pretty good. Didn’t seem busy but I imagine it will get busier if the food keeps up to the standard and it gets a star. We stayed for 3 nights and had a room with a balcony. Room was comfortable and clean, bathroom was great and appeared to be recently renovated to a high standard. Staff were great, friendly and accommodating. Couple of minor points, the road is fairly busy, it’s not so bad on weekends but in the week it appears to be used by a large amount of Lorry’s fairly early in the morning so getting a room the faced away from the road could be a decent idea. Terrace is not private to other terrace and road, needs a wall or partition around it. Breakfast was ok, bread a bit too stale and clearly recycled from restaurant? On Friday and Saturday morning had delicious cooked eggs and mushrooms, Sunday morning for some reason not the same eggs were watery and mushrooms oily (I think someone else made this tbh) also, we thought the area of the bistro was strange. It would be better if breakfast was in the restaurant area as the bistro area is not so nice. I imagine if the hotel is busy people would be walking past you in and out of the door to the car park whilst eating which isn’t so pleasant. I must say these are fairly minor complaints though, it was good and we would go back (not just for the food in restaurant)!

This hotel is perfect! The quality of the accommodation and the generosity of the hosts is excellent. They pride themselves on being environmentally proactive, so there are no single use plastic toiletries in the rooms. Instead, on arrival, you are invited to choose the fragrance of your own handmade soap and shampoo bar, slices of which are given to you on a plate to take to your room. And no pod coffee here. In the rooms there is freshly ground coffee with your plunger, and real excellent espresso at the breakfast table. The owners are a husband and wife team. He's a chef and cooks for their fine dining restaurant (exquisite), bistro, and breakfasts which includes his freshly baked croissants, baguette and cookies. There is a large kitchen garden in the courtyard with wonderful fresh produce. I would go back again and again!

Great location to visit many of the spectacular sites in the area.|The welcome we experienced was first class and the room spacious and well equipped. The staff were exceptional, ensuring all our needs were met in a very professional way and always with a smile.|We ate in the Bistro and Restaurant, under the stars, and the food was delightful. The continental breakfast was one of the best we have experienced in many years of travel. We have many fond memories of our two night stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the Dordogne.
