This hotel was charming on the outside but we got a very unhospitable welcome. The owner who runs the reception immediately announced we had no table reserved for the restaurant when we had in fact sent a request for a table via booking.com. She said she received no such request and the restaurant was full. She told us we would have to eat elsewhere and did not volunteer to help us find a place, she just sent us to our room with a phone number of one other place. ||Indeed, the two places we called were full and two others did not respond. Arbois is a small town and it was a vacation departure weekend. Not wanting to get back in our car or wander around looking for dinner at 6pm, I went back to reception to see if maybe they could find a way to let us eat there, either by eating at the bar or by having just a quick bite as we know many Europeans eat late. She refused saying it was not possible. This I found very hard to believe having worked in hospitality myself. Even a fully booked restaurant can usually make room for two. ||When my husband said we might go somewhere else if we could not eat in town, (this was our anniversary, so expecting one of us to abstain from the local wines that are the regions' specialty seemed unfair) and that we would not wish to pay for a room we would not use, she got upset and insulted us saying we were being dishonest, acting on bad faith. She also said its her place and she could do as she likes...so we left. ||||The room was also not like the photos on the site which portray modern deco and large bed and bathrooms. The beds had dips in them, view of rock rooftop, 80s style bathroom.||||We stayed in another hotel in Arbois where we were greeted and treated very well. They found us a restaurant and were super hospitable.||||After trying to mediate via booking about the cost, we were charged anyway. Needless to say, this almost ruined our weekend and our anniversary and we would advise other travellers to avoid it unless you are into being denied good service, argued with, insulted and then charged for it.
