"Family hospitality is the name of the game here! Since 1918, the Grether family have put their heart and soul into this place and not least into the good food, made mostly with regional produce. Dishes ranging from traditional to slightly more sophisticated are served in a space divided into smaller rooms or out on the lovely verdant terrace. Snacks and cakes are available throughout the day. They have their own distillery, smokehouse and Alpine dairy. Pretty, comfortable guestrooms." - Michelin Inspector

Amazing stay! We enjoyed the friendly service of ALL the staff. The rooms which are a bit outdated but very clean, cozy and large! Location is perfect for walks in the area. Restaurant is good as well. Convenient when you have a small baby which can stay upstairs.

An excellent hotel in the Black Forest. We've stayed at a few and although all have a welcoming atmosphere and good food, this was probably the best. The menu is extensive and well thought out; we only had a couple of 'standard' main meals but they were delicious; well cooked and well presented. Really tasty. There was so much more on the menu we didn't try, including the chef's choice tasting menu, that looked so good. The room... I can honestly say I'm still in awe of the bathroom: one of the best walk-in showers I've ever had. Spotlessly clean and thoroughly modern; no tired pine bathroom here. The bedroom was spacious and well-designed, the beds comfortable. Service was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The only downside for us was that we didn't have longer than one night to spend in the area. It was in a great spot, quiet and well-positioned for views and walks in the surrounding countryside. And all only half an hour from Basel airport. We'll happily go back again, and will. Edit: Back one year later, still as good as we remember. Recommended.

Excellent 'Veschper' dialect word for small meal. We arrived after the kitchen closed for the afternoon, before evening service, but we're able to still order from a large variety of local cold dishes, cakes and ice cream. We had a variety of meals including the cheese salad, which was excellent as well as the tapas style snacks which allows you to select three small dishes which are served with bread. This included some.thin sliced smoked boar prosciutto, a smoked bacon salad, beef salad, a cheese platter and some excellent liver parfaits. The food was excellent and plenty and from our point of view well worth the somewhat higher price. Parking is nearby and the staff were excellent, though as I speak fluent German I can't speak for their English abilities, but I am certain they will do their level best. I will go back when I am visiting again.

We really loved his place, what a find. Really charming, a perfect setting on a hill overlooking mountains and farmland. They offer much more than their 4 stars suggest! This place is truly family run, checked in by granddaughter, welcomed by owner and checked out by daughter all with a smile! Great breakfast, spacious room with balcony and big bathroom, this place is really spotless, could not find a thing out of place and everything is sparkling clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and was impressed with local german cuisine, local wine and great service!||||I would definately reccomend one of the hiking trails, really well kept, well marked and easy enough for all!

The Land Gasthof Sennhütte, a comfortable Country Inn, is situated in a hilly region. We appreciated the quietness and the good food. The Grether family runs this hotel which is in perfect condition. The room was nicely equipped, but could not figure out what justified the extra for comfort class. The beds are comfortable. The bathroom was a bit dark and plain. All is top clean. WiFi Internet access is free and fast. ||The restaurant is cosy and well appointed. A special praise to the kitchen. The venison stew with noodles was excellent, the Black Forest trout fried to perfection; and the homemade black forest cake a delight. For the light appetite, there is a “Vesperkarte” small menu.||The breakfast buffet was garnished with fresh products of which some are homemade. Sufficient free parking is available. We'll certainly be back. The only set back is the additional weight we will carry home, because of the delicious food.

The Country Inn and Hotel Sennhütte is located in the Southern edge of the Black Forest and a half-hour drive from the Swiss city of Basel. The hotel has 13 rooms. We were already two years ago, in this hotel. With the renovation of the rooms the quality has further gained attractiveness, although the previous rooms were far from outdated. ||The rooms are stylishly and comfortably furnished. The beds provide a good night's sleep. The bath room is bright and equipped with a shower stall. The room was comfortably heated at the beginning of November. Internet worked perfectly. My only concern is the plush carpet and the difficulty to keep it always hygienically clean. During our recent stay the room and the bathroom were both sparkling clean. ||The breakfast buffet is generous with local products of good quality. Egg dishes are freshly prepared. The restaurant is widely known for its good kitchen. The ambience is forwards the impression of a place that is well maintained and decorated in the rural style with taste and love. The meals are freshly prepared. The cuisine is traditional, based on products from the region. Game specialties are available. We had opted for venison sausages and for a Black Forest trout. Both meals were tasty prepared. Since the Sennhütte is a popular excursion spot, a reservation is advisable on weekends and on public holidays. ||The surroundings invite for hiking and easy walking. ||The Sennhütte is family operated with much dedication and passion. It is a place where hospitality is written large. I can fully recommend this hotel, and the restaurant as well.

Great place as stopover to go into Switzerland or Italy. We walked the route number 2 and had dinner afterwards. I had a great pork steak with mushrooms and rosti. My girlfriend had a good mushroom risotto! Quiet town! I will come back here.
