Hotel Restaurant Sonne

We loved our time at this hotel. I had a family of 5 and we booked 2 rooms. The hotel was a good value compared to other options in the same price range. The staff was very good and I mean really good at accomidating our needs. The breakfast was great. The Thai restaurant attached to the hotel was also good. The hotel is certainly on the outskirts of Zurich, but the charm and lovely landscapes surrounding the hotel is just beautiful.

The place is in a beautiful part of Winterthur, and the entrance with the outside dining of the restaurant lit with fairy lights, is very inviting. Inside, the staff is all smiley and helpful. Overall the decor is very contemporary. All amenities are taken care of including the minibar and Coffee machine. The soft carpet everywhere, the raindance overhead shower, and good quality bed linen together make it feel very luxurious. The staff deserve a special mention as they went out of the way to fulfill my needs/ requests. I wasn't carrying a European charger and they arranged for multiple ones for me. I also happened to misplace a toiletry bag, and after I left they arranged for its courier and delivery. Top marks for the place and hospitality! Loved it!!

The hotel is newly renovated. Rooms are modern and nicely decorated with a spacious layout. There are beautiful design elements throughout the hotel And everything is of good quality. The hotel is just above the restaurant which has a lovely terrace and is very popular for lunch and dinnner over the weekend. We found the staff extremely accommodating. Everything from extending breakfast, supplying an extra guest bed to meeting special meal requirements. What made our stay most memorable though was the good care from the team and the genuine hospitality from the owner who will graciously give you a private tour of the impressively stocked wine cellar. Staying here will give you the feeling you are staying with friends or a cosy bed and breakfast without having to compromise on good food & drinks and a lively atmosphere. We will be back!

Sonne Seuzach truly stands out as one of the hidden gems in the area. From the moment you step in, you are warmly welcomed into an ambiance that feels both comfortable and upscale. The attention to detail in every aspect, be it the intricate décor or the curated menu, showcases the passion and commitment of the team behind it. The cuisine is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish tells a story, combining local flavors with a touch of international flair, creating a perfect symphony of taste and presentation. The ingredients are fresh, with an emphasis on sourcing locally, which reflects in the authentic taste of each plate. The staff at Sonne Seuzach deserves special mention. This is the best restaurant in the Seuzach / Winterthur Region. I can fully recommend that place. They do such an effort with food, design and service. The interior design and the attention to detail with their quality furniture (outdoors and indoors) is stunning. I didn't expect this at all form such a restaurant on the country side. The interior design of this restaurant seems like you're sitting in a state of the art hospitality place somewhere in NYC. The food is delicious and their rather small menu speaks for quality. I have never been disappointed. Their waiter (we had that blonde, tall German lady) is the best and loveliest waiter I've ever had. Such a high attention to detail and barely any need to ask her for stuff. She understands everything and proactively brings new water, bread, wine etc. She has such a high level of empathy and understanding of her guest. Wine: their wine list is huge and you'll be able to find some great rare bottles. As an appetizer I highly recommend to take their local champagne called Väterchen Frost. Such a great discovery! Locally produced and better than any French Champagne. The bar: Stat of the art! Stunning design, Sonne Seuzach owns an ice machine producing round clear ice. This is rare in Switzerland and surely a huge statement that they understand the bar scene of 2019. Innovative bar menu with great whiskey and gin selection. Negative Point: On Saturdays the have live music, which starts playing way too early and too loud. It's a bit of an awkward moment when you're sitting there with family and friends and expect to have some good talks. But then the live music starts to play that loud you have to scream at each other. I recommend to start with the live band later at night like 10:30 or 11pm. And not that loud please. Summary: Please keep up that high sense of quality, detail orientation and stunning food. A change in menu would't hurt either. I'm curious to see what kind of food-creations you're going to present. A modern restaurant hotel, with small yet very clean and modern rooms. While sleeping area is a bit small and you kind of squeezing in, the bathroom/ area is very big and has everything you need. All facilities were at new condition and minibar soft drinks are complimentary. |Surprisingly, while this looks like a new modern hotel, it had sort of an air condition machine which was quite big and set at the side of the room as if it doesn’t belong to it and against its modern decoration.|Breakfast was OK.. basic food ( bread/ cheese/ yogurt etc..) no vegetables and boiled eggs . We asked for scrambled eggs and the lady there was very kind and make it for is with a big smile.|Restaurant is relatively expensive, but just across the street there is a nice Italian restaurant where we had good dinner.|Few problem we faced were:|1. Checking and payment process was digital which is not so bad, but they only communicated by emails in German.. I asked to send me the instructions in English but they didn’t. They assigned us a room sort of to ease our checkin process, but it found to be bad as the room location was bad|2. Our room (#101) was located just above the restaurant entrance, and as we slept with an open window we kept hearing loud talks just below our room which was very annoying and disturbing.

Excellent place, good location (including proximity to public transport), well maintained, good quality throughout, wonderful service - overall pefect hospitality! No request too big - Priska arranged for European chargers for me and Silvia & Filoia arranged for my forgotten toiletry bag to be couriered back after I got back home! So so pleased at the Sun 🌞

We booked in for 4 nights as anything closer to Zürich was either fully booked or too pricey.||The location is great as one is quick on the highway and close enough to the big cities.||Breakfast is simple yet delicious and there is s lovely restaurant with gourmet cuisine and a huge eine cellar.||Rooms ard spacious and clean, the only thing we stfuggled was Wifi...it was just too weak in the room.
