Hotel Ristorante Corsaro Nero

We spent one night in the hotel and the full following day. It is an extraordinary and unique place to visit; the location is stunning, the staff is friendly, the rooms are very nice and in the local taste. We also had dinner at the restaurant and food was amazing and fairly priced. We would definitely recommend.

Very cool hotel and restaurant in isolated area, Portu MAGA

We did not use the hotel accommodation here, we visited the restaurant for dinner. The offer is moderately varied. Several main courses are weighted, meaning you can expect large portions for a relatively high price. Appetizers are very interesting and tasty, but the main dishes are somewhat less so. Still, the experience is good.

Portu Maga is a bit of an oddity, with half the holiday homes standing empty but the newer half busy and bustling, a very handy store, a pizzeria and a bar. And right on the beach there's the Corsaro Nero, five stone-built rooms with a terrace overlooking the sandy shore, a minute's walk from the water. Simple but comfortable, maybe a little pricy in high season but it's the location you're paying for. The big restaurant, with sweeping views out to sea, serves good food at sensible prices and is full most of the afternoon and evening, easy-going and friendly.

This is a review of the accommodation, not the restaurant.||The location is tremendous. There are 5 adjoining rooms, all seaward facing, perched at the edge of the cliff, about 50 foot above a stunning beach, with far ranging views in both directions. There is a private area in front of each room with two sun loungers and two wicker chairs plus a small table.||However, the accommodation is tired and in need of refurbishment. The wicker chairs on all 5 bungalows were broken and unusable, and the planters and plants around each were dead and untidy offering little to no privacy. Inside the curtains were dirty and there were many holes and tears in the fabric. There was a constant leak from the toilet cistern into the bowl which meant that the cistern repeatedly refilled throughout the night.||We felt that the owners were trading on the location and reputation of the restaurant to charge a high price for the accommodation, although sadly this was not justified by the quality of accommodation provided.||In a word: disappointing.

The restaurant is well located and has an amazing view, especially a view of the sunset over the sea from the terrace. Despite an impressive selection of fresh fish and meat, the food was so-so and not really worth the money they charge. It's a good sundown drink place.

The drive alone along the costa verde is breathtaking! We saw our hotel from a distance and hoped that it was our destination because it was perched right on a cliff over the ocean. Sure enough, that was Corsaro Nero. Every detail here is gorgeous inside and out. We checked into our beautiful room and even though the cafe was closed, when we asked to buy a drink they offered us the menu and served us a great lunch over looking the ocean. We went down to the beach after lunch to discover a great beach bar with snacks and drinks, and the gentleman operating it took great care of us. For 10 Euros we had nice lounge chairs and an umbrella all day long. The beach is gorgeous with wonderful clear water. After our days at the beach, the restaurant was a real treat. We watched the sunset over the sea with excellent food, wine and service. This hotel will not disappoint! Excellent, relaxing experience.

The Food was good but not spectacular. They served baked bread not the Sardinen bread. The House wines Red and white was nice. The meat plate was okay but not very special. There are no sides in the prices of 30€ for 2 persons included. The pasta with fishes was nice. Prices between 13-16€. Sides like vegetarians costs about 7€. The service was nice but they don‘t speak a lot englisch. The location itself ist designed okay but not very special. I recommend to visit while it’s bright outside or while looking sunset.
