Hôtel Royal (Evian-les-Bains, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"An early 20th-century palace with an elevated view of Lake Geneva, the Hôtel Royal stands above the lakeside spa resort of Évian-les-Bains, home of the famous mineral water. It retains its Belle Époque grandeur even as it’s kept pace with the times; in its present incarnation it’s a tasteful mix of classic and contemporary elements, aiming to deliver the elegance of a bygone era without disappearing into nostalgia. Among the attractions (besides the setting) are the outdoor infinity pool and the evian®SPA; its restaurants, under the direction of chef Patrice Vander, include the MICHELIN-Starred Les Fresques." - Tablet Hotels

We had a very lovely stay at the Hotel Royal. The entire Building and surrounding area is beautifully designed. There's a view of the lake from the pool, seating areas, restaurants. It's quiet up there, very enjoyable. We brought our little dachshund and everyone welcomed us. Very friendly staff and good selection of food and drinks. I will definitely come back. Thank you

Wonderful stay with gorgeous rooms overlooking the lake. Some of the best hotel rooms I have stayed in — perfect connecting rooms for us and our kids. Service super strong and cleanliness and room keeping staff amazing. Wonderful spa services, nicely heated pool and great restaurant. The town of Evian is pretty small and not much going on but we took full use of the sport staff and did e-biking in the alps, white water rafting and a tour of Gruyère. Definitely recommend doing excursions in the morning and relaxing by pool in the afternoon.

Hotel is beautifully set with a stunning view over Lake Geneva .|The hotel itself is well appointed and the rooms are a decent size. Some nice touches on arrival- lovely chocolate left and I’ll be buying some as gifts to take back.|Decent tennis, good spa facilities. Gym is ok. ||The restaurants are always fully booked and I’d recommend booking well in advance because we’ve had real problems booking places to eat. |The transport to the town centre is never on time and a bit chaotic and in line with that I think the hotel is a little understaffed. They’re pretty friendly and helpful but just seems to be a wait for almost everything. ||In short, maybe away from peak season it’s a bit better to come.

Serene, quiet location. The rooms were comfortable. We were assigned rooms to the front of the hotel, which we preferred. The lake side views while pretty had too many people below smoking and drinking to allow for the peace we were seeking. Besides the views of the back were pretty enough.||My sister was upgraded to a suite after having spent a night in a smoke filled room. The odor had infiltrated into the curtains and carpet. Impossible to rest if you have allergies. Despite a rough start we all managed to get some much needed rest for the duration of our visit. The manager was kind enough to upgrade my sister to a quiet room that had views.||We had packed days so could not appreciate the restaurant on site. However we enjoyed the breakfast buffet daily. The offering was somewhat limited but we truly enjoyed the quality of what was offered. The fruit, cheese, breads, fruits and even coffee were all of better quality. ||The service was good. There were a few “off” encounters with staff but we had enough pleasant experiences that they did not affect the overall experience. The hotel is very pleasant and comfortable and the grounds very pretty. While the town is a bit removed (within walking distance - if going into town; it’s too much a climb if coming back to the hotel), there is shuttle service at guest disposal. ||There is only one aspect of the hotel I found lacking. That was the spa. The person at the front desk was off putting. The space inside smelled too much of chlorine and the water tepid warm. I was looking forward to getting spa services then decided against it after our first visit to the common area. Despite this, our visit overall was pleasant.

Exceptional stay. The Royal is simply stunning in all aspects. The Spa is amazing and the views and gardens superb. Wonderfully helpful staff. It is a real gem of a hotel, and will definitely stay again. |Only downside was the pool area felt like a creche most days with some very loud children shouting the whole afternoon , firing their water gun , whilst their parents peacefully read their books. We moved to the spa in the end but there is not an outdoor sun lounge area so not ideal. Definitely some ground rules for the pool use should be set so everyone can enjoy the most amazing rim flow pool.

Hotel Royal Evian is an incredible hotel. The building, public spaces, pool, spa and rooms are gorgeous. The lighting in particular is outstanding. The concierge and staff are top notch - they learn the rhythms of your group and anticipate your needs. The grounds and view cannot be beat. I highly reccommend this hotel. We heard it was a family friendly hotel and it was indeed family friendly - dogs too. Be sure to pay for Hotel Royal’s breakfast - it will be the prettiest and most delicious breakfast you ever experience.

My wife & I stayed 7 nights at Hotel Royal in early September. We chose this hotel based on its location overlooking Lake Geneva, the spa facilities, onsite restaurant/bar options & overall accommodations. We were not disappointed - our experience was outstanding & well worth the cost. ||- Our Residence Lakeview Room was exceptionally comfortable & had ample closet space. Room included espresso maker, stocked mini bar (addt’l cost) & several nice touches like extra pillows, blankets, phone charger & outlet converter for US plugs. Room service provided large bottles of Evian water daily. We really enjoyed sitting on our terrace, even though we were on the 1st floor, view was spectacular. ||- Bathroom was large with 2 separate sinks, well-organized & had an enormous window view of the lake. The Carbonic 1900 hair dryer was so impressive that I remember the name of a hotel hair dryer. ||- Spa is undersold, it’s absolutely tremendous. Open from 7A-11P & no treatment required for entry. We used outdoor jet pools, steam room, dry sauna & snow cave every day. Immaculately clean with plenty of towels & Evian water. Spa alone is worth stay if you enjoy hydrotherapy. ||- Breakfast buffet is enormous spread of breads, fruits, meat, cheese & traditional dishes like eggs, bacon, etc. All on-property restaurants offer large menus & attentive service. Dinner at Les Fresques was a special event. ||- While the hotel is short distance from town, the hill is so steep it’s not reasonable to walk up or down. Complimentary electric VW buses make regular trips down to their casino property on the lake promenade & back, rides were very easy to schedule through the concierge. We also rode the funicular, it stops at the station just above the hotel every 20 mins, follow the footpath across the street & walk uphill via the driveway. The funicular driver will stop when they see passengers waiting & open the gate. The last stop is conveniently in the middle of town, it’s a fun experience & no cost. Last run is at 7P. Take shuttles after that. ||- We really appreciated the hotel’s location which offered easy access to Evian or longer day trips across the lake. If you plan on spending at least 3 days visiting Switzerland, the Swiss Flex Travel Pass is well worth it. We took the ferry, metro, train & buses all over Lausanne, Lavaux & Montreux. The SBB app made transfers simple & seamless. ||- Our experience was memorable because of the kind, patient & always helpful staff at Hotel Royal. We appreciated their endless hospitality & are grateful for the opportunity to stay to stay with them.

Just a brilliant hotel. The service from every single member of staff we encountered was polite, friendly and helpful. It's just a beautiful, spacious and luxurious space with lovely pools, rooms and restaurants. Of course it's not cheap but bearing in mind what you pay to stay in central London these days it is absolutely value for money. I hope to return as soon as possible.
