My wife & I stayed 7 nights at Hotel Royal in early September. We chose this hotel based on its location overlooking Lake Geneva, the spa facilities, onsite restaurant/bar options & overall accommodations. We were not disappointed - our experience was outstanding & well worth the cost. ||- Our Residence Lakeview Room was exceptionally comfortable & had ample closet space. Room included espresso maker, stocked mini bar (addt’l cost) & several nice touches like extra pillows, blankets, phone charger & outlet converter for US plugs. Room service provided large bottles of Evian water daily. We really enjoyed sitting on our terrace, even though we were on the 1st floor, view was spectacular. ||- Bathroom was large with 2 separate sinks, well-organized & had an enormous window view of the lake. The Carbonic 1900 hair dryer was so impressive that I remember the name of a hotel hair dryer. ||- Spa is undersold, it’s absolutely tremendous. Open from 7A-11P & no treatment required for entry. We used outdoor jet pools, steam room, dry sauna & snow cave every day. Immaculately clean with plenty of towels & Evian water. Spa alone is worth stay if you enjoy hydrotherapy. ||- Breakfast buffet is enormous spread of breads, fruits, meat, cheese & traditional dishes like eggs, bacon, etc. All on-property restaurants offer large menus & attentive service. Dinner at Les Fresques was a special event. ||- While the hotel is short distance from town, the hill is so steep it’s not reasonable to walk up or down. Complimentary electric VW buses make regular trips down to their casino property on the lake promenade & back, rides were very easy to schedule through the concierge. We also rode the funicular, it stops at the station just above the hotel every 20 mins, follow the footpath across the street & walk uphill via the driveway. The funicular driver will stop when they see passengers waiting & open the gate. The last stop is conveniently in the middle of town, it’s a fun experience & no cost. Last run is at 7P. Take shuttles after that. ||- We really appreciated the hotel’s location which offered easy access to Evian or longer day trips across the lake. If you plan on spending at least 3 days visiting Switzerland, the Swiss Flex Travel Pass is well worth it. We took the ferry, metro, train & buses all over Lausanne, Lavaux & Montreux. The SBB app made transfers simple & seamless. ||- Our experience was memorable because of the kind, patient & always helpful staff at Hotel Royal. We appreciated their endless hospitality & are grateful for the opportunity to stay to stay with them.
