Hotel Rural La Tronera

WE HAD A WONDERFUL 2 NIGHT STAY IN LA TRONERA. WE DID DAY TRIPS TO LITTLE TOWNS IN THE AREA AND DID A LONG HIKE IN LAS MEDULAS PARK. THERESA AND MIGUEL WERE GREAT HOSTS . LIKE HOME AWAY FROM HOME. IF YOU EVER TRAVEL TO NORTH SPAIN AND WANT TO STOP IN THE COUNTRY SIDE , THIS OPTION IS SUPER!

La Tronera was the most expensive hotel of our two week trip through northern Portugal and Spain, and it was a long way from the best. It is really a restaurant with rooms; ours was cramped and poorly furnished, with a dimly-lit bathroom. The bed was not particularly comfortable, the WiFi was weak, and altogether, the hotel part of the deal did not match the high price tag – this is rural Spain, after all. In the restaurant, the owner/chef is clearly more at home: he offers a Menu Degustación, very decent value at 30€ including a good bottle of a young Bierzo red wine. The following night we ate a la carte: my wife’s bacalao with Bierzo peppers was ordinary, my slow-cooked baby lamb was reheated and dry. One starter, two main courses, wine and water came to 65€. We had been waiting to try La Tronera ever since it was highly recommended by some local people a couple of years ago now, and it did not live up to our expectations. Which is a shame, because the owner and his wife are welcoming and helpful – perhaps it was just one of those weekends.

La Tronera was a wonderful surprise, a great hotel in a delightful village. Good accommodation, excellent food, and charming and attentive service - homely but not intrusive, very willing to help - drive you to the river swimming place, show you the best village walks. A wonderful weekend made special by La Tronera.

Beautiful hotel ran by beautiful family

Después de leer las reseñas de otras personas que han comido en este maravilloso restaurante no se qué más puedo añadir. Simplemente que probablemente ha sido la mejor experiencia gastronómica de mi vida, sin tener estrellas Michelín. Que ya estoy inventando otro viaje para repetir, porque volveremos, seguro. Arte en la cocina, sabores increíbles fruto de la investigación en los productos de proximidad y su aprovechamiento. Y para rematar, una bodega excelente, con un magnífico asesoramiento del hijo de esta encantadora familia. Les deseo todo lo mejor, porque lo merecen.

Fuimos al restaurante a probar el menú degustación. Una experiencia de 10. Un menú super recomendable, con producto muy rico y de calidad de la zona. Personal muy atento que cuida al máximo cada detalle. Sin duda repetiremos.

Creatividad en familia Hay restaurantes que te llenan el estómago, y luego está La Tronera, que te llena el alma. Este rincón gastronómico no es solo un lugar para comer, es una experiencia sensorial donde cada plato es una obra de arte y cada visita un reencuentro con la pasión culinaria. Lo que hace especial a La Tronera es su esencia familiar. Lo llevan Miguel, Tere, y sus hijos y juntos nos recuerdan , con cada plato, que la gastronomía es un arte, y que cuando se cocina con amor, el resultado siempre es memorable. Si buscas un lugar que no defrauda, La Tronera es una apuesta segura. Porque no solo alimenta, sino que inspira. Porque su cocina es un viaje de emociones que despierta los sentidos y te invita a volver una y otra vez. Gracias familia por todo, por tanto … Volveré.
