Hotel is vintage, very warm and cozy, has that old world charm. Rooms are spacious and serviced daily. Breakfast is good spread however does not serve other meats besides pork. They do however need to make a few updates. There are not enough plugs for charging phones. The Tv should be mounted on the wall so there is sufficient space for the electric kettle as there is no place to plug in the kettle. Telephone was broken and wasn’t fixed though we reported it. While they offer WiFi , it’s patchy and very unreliable. We couldn’t use it.

Stayed over The weekend and had a really nice stay. The front desk staff were very friendly and informative, and the lobby area was very modern with an attached bar/restaurant. We were in a handicapped accessible room, as my father has some mobility issues. The room was large and well appointed; clean and as well. The beds were comfortable and the room was well lit. More importantly the room was clean. The bathroom was spacious and well lit. Being in Marfa there aren’t a lot of hotel choices, and I came away impressed. Be prepared for a lack of dining choices in Marfa-there is a hotel restaurant, but beyond that-not much else. We don’t plan on visiting Marfa again, but this is good choice if you are in the area.

We liked this hotel! Easy parking, quick (while not particularly friendly) check-in. No bell service but the luggage carts were easy to use. The hotel in general has a low key vibe with an understated, enjoyable decor. Our room was spacious, user friendly and had a very comfortable bed. Robes, small frig, an iron etc were provided. Coffee, ice water and little cookies are offered by the elevators 24/7. For dinner, we tried the hotel's restaurant, which has an elegant, happening feel, a great bar and an eclectic menu. A giant, impressive-looking pizza oven adds to the interesting atmosphere. Unfortunately, for us, the food didn't live up to the promise. We tried the Marfa tomatoes as a starter - a plate of small and larger (cut into quarters) tomatoes dressed with olive oil, fennel and salt. The little tomatoes were sweet and delicious; the larger tomatoes had little flavor, and we pushed them aside. The pizza (we ordered sausage) was dry, had little sausage and cheese, and was a bit burned on the edges. A letdown given the clear emphasis on pizza! We might try this restaurant again, but would definitely stay away from the pizza. We also tried the "bar area" for breakfast. We were there at 7:25 for breakfast, with service to begin at 7:30am. The single individual to provide breakfast service handed us menus at 7:45 - so a short wait. However, the poor guy was quickly overwhelmed by all the patrons. I tried the avocado toast - sour dough bread with smashed avocado, with delicious Marfa tomatoes. It was described as being topped with micro greens but they didn't materialize. My husband had buttermilk pancakes and bacon - he LOVES breakfast but declared this one just "ok". We managed to get our check at about 9:10am. Don't think I'd choose this place for breakfast again. All in all, we would stay here again, but perhaps go out to eat.

The good: room was pre-cooled on arrival, AC is quiet and central, the towels are off the chart good, nice bathrobes and slippers in the room, the bartender Joshua with beard and shaved head is the real deal (definitely try his "bullet for the general"). The "meh": most everything else. Sure, it's nice that they have water and snacks by the elevators, bug gir the price, meh. Also, would be better if you didn't have to coax the deck clerks (multiple doing very little) to tell you where to find the elevators. Also, the staff, apart from the bartender, appear to have arrived at work ready to mow the lawn (oh, there's no lawn, or any other green thing). Really, grooming, hygiene. Nice people, but not helpful, and not knowledgeable about the property, the menu, the town (like where to eat or then what is open), or hotel operations more generally. Maybe part of the "charm" is that you explore things on your own. But I was not into it. The not good enough: street parking? Really? I mean, Texas, ok, but at this price?

Google
We’ve stayed here several times but I think this last time was our last. They closed the gift shop, they close the pool early, and they closed both bars early two nights in a row. The rooms are showing their age, and the staff seem like they’re ready to clock out around the clock. This morning they shut down the coffee station before 9:30. They wouldn’t let us bring water into the pool even though the bar didn’t open for 3 hours. Just overall feels way less like a comfortable place to call a home base while in Marfa than it used to.

Front desk representative Ms. Miranda was professional, pleasant, helpful, and genuine and our restaurant hostess Maryanna was courteous, pleasant, and helpful! The room was spacious, clean , and classy! What a pleasant surprise! Had a great time!

Google
This hotel is really nice. We really enjoyed our room. Service was slow at the bar, seemed understaffed, but not a huge deal. If you are coming to Marfa, you can't beat this hotel for location. It is in the heart of the town and walkable to everything. The food is really good hear at the restaurant. The negative was the pool. It is located across the street. The problem was it opens ar 10am. We show up a few minutes after 10, and there are 4 workers speaking loud Spanish, filling the jacuzzi with water and dumping cloudy chemicals in the pool. I feel like this should have been done before opening. After 30 minutes of listening to all this commotion we left. It just ruined the experience. We will definitely come back, because Marfa is a cool town and this hotel is extremely nice, but they need to improve the pool experience.

Google
I've stayed at the Hotel St George almost every year since it was built, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The rooms are spacious, beautiful, comfortable, and affordable, but the real surprise is the hotel's architecture. It's built to complement the art in Marfa, and the location is central to the town. I can't imagine a nicer, more competent staff who make certain that every wish is fulfilled. The bar is one of the best in this small city, and the restaurant, La Ventura, has the best food in Marfa. Best of all, this five star hotel is affordable, truly inexpensive and delicious. The rooms could not be more comfortable, large and spacious. But the most remarkable aspect of this hotel is that, for the five star accommodations, it's incredibly affordable. I visited the hotel the first year it opened, and unlike so many other places I've stayed, the quality here has only improved. Can't recommend it highly enough.

Yelp
Overall: Not worth the money. I don't recommend. Fancy dressings (bath products, linens, etc), but poor fundamentals (room quality - bathroom fixture was held together with tape - and service) I was excited to stay here given the hotel's history, the minimalist aesthetic (in line with Marfa's art history), and the promise of a luxurious stay. I left feeling like I had paid much too much for the experience I received. The rooms look nice, and some of the touches (Aesop products, beautiful towels) are fantastic. But other parts of the rooms/hotel feel too cheap to command $400/night. The heavy room doors don't close softly, so you constantly hear doors slamming throughout the night as people come and go. The walls and ceilings are thin. And our toilet paper roll holder was held together with duct tape. The service was lacking, too. It felt very amateur for the price/luxury they are trying to project. People at the front desk didn't greet us. No one asked us how our stay was, even when we checked out. They seemed more interested in chatting to each other or eating at the desk than they did interacting with guests.

Yelp
Great hotel. Stayed one night, but it was very comfortable, clean, quiet. Wife n I got a laugh out of the earplugs by the bedside for people who aren't used to hearing the occasional train, but while the intersection is like kinda basically on the same block, it's a big nothingburger. Heard it only once and it's quieter than one in our hometown. But, the earplugs were a nice gesture. The hotel has an aesthetic that fits right into Marfa, minimalism, nice art all about, more geometric forms than you can shake a stick at! We didn't get to use the pool 'cuz we forgot our suits, but we went to check it out and it was fantastic, we'll make sure to pack them next time! The pool's large, pretty decor with a bar and hottub, areas for shade, areas for sun. Very nice. Highly recommended all 'round.

Yelp
A beautiful place to stay in. The rooms were spacious and always tidy. The staff is very friendly and helps you pick out delicious meals in the restaurant downstairs. It's worth a stay, for sure!

Yelp
The pool is amazing absolutely get Ellena at the pool bar! She's amazing, multi tasks. Gets the job done and is super considerate with the customers. Absolute asset to the hotel and pool! Highly recommend!! *****

Yelp
New, modern, open space in lobby. Loud, much louder than a hotel lobby should be. We could not hear each other talk in the restaurant off the lobby. Rooms are modern, stylish, well designed. Plenty of room to unpack. Lighting is nicely done, too. Staff is friendly, although not always at the desk. Could be warmer, but proficient. Cute selection of out of the ordinary items, fashion, gifts in the shop. Excellent pool across the street, which belongs to the hotel. Definitely adds an upscale experience to the trip, and the water is a nice respite from the desert sun. Fast wi-fi that works, which we did not have when staying at another large hotel in area.

Kris T.

Yelp
Corina, was the rudest manager I have ever encountered. I was shocked at how she treated me and other guests in the bar area to watch the Texas/OU game. I manage a restaurant and would never treat my guests the way she treated the people just trying to watch a football game.

Yelp
great hotel!!! loved our hotel check-in guy, 'Deidrick'; super friendly and accommodating!! love the sound of the railroad nearby. great place, great people, hope to come back soon!

Yelp
Beyond a doubt the rudest, most inconsiderate staff I've ever experienced ( and I've lived in Paris). It was a quiet Thursday in September and I was the only person in the lobby and the receptionist didn't look up from his computer while leaning on the counter until I politely asked if he was going to help me. Then he proceeded to mumble at me until another receptionist took over. It was 1:45 pm and she told me that my room wasn't ready. Fair enough but a little odd considering I was also the ONLY car parked directly in front of the hotel. I asked her for a couple of things to do while I wait and she sneered " there is a visitor center down the street". I said I was just looking for maybe a place to eat and was hoping a $350 hotel could recommend something. She mumbled two places that I could not decipher and I wasn't going to ask again, I got the point. Still I had my backpack so I asked if I could store it. She looked right at me and walked away. I then took my bag to my car and drove out of town, not sure if I would return (never travel alone to any unwelcoming off the beaten path place for safety reasons) or just enjoy another hour or two of open Texas driving. By 4:30 pm I realized they were teaching me a lesson so to speak so I booked another hotel off the side of the road. Here is the vengeful part, they called me at 11:30 pm, yes, 11:30 pm. I've been around the world and No hotel anywhere has treated me with such disdain and for no apparent reason, especially when they were completely empty at my time of arrival. Shameful.

Yelp
I stayed here for about 10 days in 2018. Nice location, but you have VERY few food options (head to Marfa Burrito for lunch). The staff was mehhh, but the worst folks were housekeeping. They LITERALLY picked towels up from the bathroom floor and hung them again (I put dirty towels in a neat pile on the floor). I know they did this because I could see my makeup traces on them. The next day, I placed the dirty towels in the shower and put water on them... only then did I get fresh towels. People said the train bothered them, but it did not bother me. Food is over-priced, but good.

Yelp
Love the rooms, the art, the food, the drinks, and the staff! It is my favorite place to stay in Marfa, and one of the most consistent, delicious restaurants and bars. It's a welcoming space with a warm vibe radiating from locals and guests. Stop in for a meal or a cocktail - and stay for the night!

Mary B.

Yelp
My husband and I had an exceptional and unforgettable experience at the HSG commemorating our 41st wedding anniversary. Our accommodations offered accessibility-enhanced rooms with well-equipped bathroom amenities and a selection of luxurious Aesop toiletries. The toilet was ergonomically designed at an optimal height, and the room temperature control operated silently throughout the night. Access to the elevator and rooms were restricted to individuals with a personal access card. The hotel staff provided excellent service by promptly addressing our requests, such as arranging for impromptu picture taking, locating additional blankets in the room, and providing an ice bucket to keep our complimentary chilled champagne ready for the next night. We consumed a lovely bottle of wine at LaVenture's for dinner.

Yelp
This is my 10th stay at the Hotel Saint George, and the hotel just keeps getting more impressive. Our room is spacious and light, surrounded by windows. The shower is huge, and the service, impeccable. The Hotel gives you the opportunity of full service every day, or green service, which is just replacing the towels, but either way, they are prompt and attention is given to every detail. The staff just keeps getting better, not only the service, which is impeccable, but also the friendliness. When I have a special request, it's always met with a smile. I suppose that the only reason it's getting 3 instead of 5 stars from so many people is that they don't have folks opening the doors or offering to carry your luggage, but if you ask them, they are right there to help. To me, this is a true five star hotel perfectly aligned with the environment. The decor is beautiful, the bar exceptional, the happy hour just great, and the food! I recommend coming here often. I know I will be back

Yelp
Seriously, stopped in here on the way to a hiking trip; the best cheeseburger in the back bar that I have ever had, and I'm 64!
google avatar

Helen H.

Yelp
I loved the room. It was on the 4th (top) floor. The room is spacious and modern. The bed was comfortable. The bath products were Aesop and robes/slippers were provided. When I noticed earplugs on the night stand, I was concerned. Apparently it's because of the train that runs nearby, but I didn't hear anything the night I stayed here. Overall, I had an enjoyable night of rest here.

Chris U.

Yelp
Great hotel! Modern with lots of contemporary art throughout the hotel which is beautiful and unique. Bed is very comfortable. Front desk-Corinna was helpful. Manager Andrea is on top of everything. Night manager Mooney is very accommodating! Love this place!

Yelp
Biggest greediest rip off ever. $10 for shot of general vodka & $3 for a shot of club soda. Greedy business, my last visit thieves

Yelp
After a week long road trip in our camper van, we decided to take a break and book a room with a real bed. Oh my!!! The bed!!! The bed was literally the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. At 46 years old and pregnant I could not have been happier nor slept better. Many many thanks for an incredible stay. Your staff was wonderful as well. Every interaction we had was great. They were very friendly, genuine and helpful. Thanks again!! Julie

Priscilla D.

Yelp
Beautiful hotel and such a wonderful staff. Lauri was exceptional. She personally took up our bags to our room. And handled our change of plans with our extra night accommodations. Would totally recommend Hotel Saint George because of its beauty of the hotel and the staff. Made our stay in Marfa for our mom's 80th birthday extra special.

C K.

Yelp
Get ready for a ripoff. I spent 1700 for three nights in a small room plus a terrible Thanksgiving dinner. If you have food allergies, call in advance, notify the kitchen, notify the waitstaff 3 times, they will serve you something that will make you sick and they will make you feel like you are an idiot for asking why there is gravy and stuffing on a GF plate. Their response "well the chef served it to me so it must be" WTF! When you check out, when the front desk asks how your stay was, and you explain the story of how you were gluten poisoned and it ruined the last 3 days of your vacation, they just say sorry, have a nice day.

Lyn C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this hotel. Modern architecture and luxury. Everything was amazing especially the food and atmosphere at the bar, the comfy beds and conveniences such as Aesop body wash in the shower, lotion, shampoo etc. Love all the original artwork everywhere. LaVenture restaurant is a must. Ck out the pool - amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
Best place to stay in Marfa by far. Comfortable and relaxing while simultaneously modern and elevated. I can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Samantha J.

Yelp
Came in for dinner because out of the 4 other restaurants in this city the one we wanted was closed and this seemed like the next best option. The dining area is located on the left of the hotel lobby which is sleek and very artistically decorated. I loved the ambiance and on the other side is a unique little book store that you can shop at after the meal. We had the burger cooked medium rare and the beef tartare. The burger was juicy and the patty had really good flavor, my only complaint was that the bun could have been a lot better. The beef tartare had a great presentation and the flavors were spot on. I loved the addition of the fried capers. I definitely recommend this place to eat and was really impressed with their menu.

Yelp
Hotel St. George is a precious gem within the treasure trove of Marfa, Texas. Centrally located in a quaint and artsy desert oasis, within walking distance of the many thrills that make up the town, this intimate hotel offers well-appointed, spacious, clean and comfortable rooms, wonderful service, and an outstanding restaurant called La Venture. Be it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you're in for a treat. Delicious meals prepared with culinary wisdom and abundant love. We look forward to returning to the often described "quirky little town" of Marfa and its fabulous Hotel St. George!

Cory N.

Yelp
Another terrific stay at the Hotel Saint George! It never disappoints. The staff is top notch and the rooms are spacious. Without a doubt, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. Be sure to check out the restaurant. The food is awesome! Highly recommend!

Viola L.

Yelp
Way out West in Marfa there is a gem of a hotel. "Hey hey, My my". Hotel Saint George. The Pool!
google avatar

Adriana G.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible experience! We brought our pups and they had water and food bowls waiting in the room. Although the restaurant was busy, the front desk took our room service orders and delivered them to the room. The suite was beautiful and we slept so comfortably. I cannot say enough good things, particularly about the service. We will absolutely be back!!
google avatar

Milinda S.

Yelp
Had drinks and delicious pizza at the bar here. Nice atmosphere, attractive decor, sports on tv but not intrusive. Excellent service. Made for a relaxing, low-key dinner.

Nancy B.

Yelp
Beautifully appointed and the food was excellent. They do need larger glasses for iced tea, but otherwise it was perfect. lol.
google avatar

Victor D.

Yelp
Stopped in n for happy hour on out Marfa road trip. Nice bar with great service we had Margaritas and a Paloma and an old fashion all three drinks were great. We had snacks okay well alot of snacks all were good but my fave were the brusell sprouts and shisoto peppers. We also had wings, parm fries with aolii and Mac/cheese with BBQ. So after our drinks we walked across the street and enjoyed the pool and frozen margs as the main bar only did margs on rocks

Rema H.

Yelp
Very rude. We had to cancel our trip as our daughter came down with covid. We called them 3 days before the trip. They simply refused and said there was no way!

Yelp
After a wonderful stay here in 2018, I decided to come back at the end of 2019. And this time, Hotel Saint George was not quite the same. I was disappointed in the following ways at Hotel Saint George: -- I didn't feel valued as a guest. The check-in process was quick and seamless but also cold and impersonal. No smile, no friendly conversation. I felt like just another number, which is completely opposite to the warm spirit of Marfa. -- Upon check-in I asked if my room was on the pet-free floor and I was assured it was. But then, I was woken in the middle of the night by the barking of a dog a few doors down. I was clearly not on a pet-free floor. This was again highlighted the following morning when I walked out of my room and was greeted by two big dogs and their owner who got on the elevator with me. I inquired with the frontdesk if I could change rooms but I was told that was impossible because the hotel was sold out. All in all, I felt I wasn't informed correctly about the location of my room, unless there was a misunderstanding but I'm pretty sure I asked and heard right. -- While on the topic of noise and nuisances, please note that the walls of the hotel are paper thin. You can hear almost everything. It was the holidays so people were partying and having a good time. Not something I experienced last year but Marfa may be starting to attract a different crowd. This is not something that the hotel can easily address but it's something to be aware of if you stay here during peak season. I suggest to request a quiet room during booking to try to minimize chances any noise will be bothersome. (The hotel does provide free earplugs if you need them.) -- Cleanliness is a huge point of concern. When I checked into the room and checked the bathroom, there were stains on the shower wall that were not properly cleaned. A big no-no. Every time I stepped in to the shower it bothered me thinking about other grime that I could not see but may still be there. I'm just a clean freak I guess. I decided to check out a day early and go elsewhere as I just didn't feel comfortable at Hotel Saint George. I'm not sure if I will be back in the future. I don't like leaving a bad review. There are good people at Hotel Saint George who want to give guests a great experience. But for me it didn't work out. My experience was average and I think a friendly smile would have made a world of difference.

Erin K.

Yelp
After an extremely long drive with 3 small kids, I was SO incredibly happy to arrive at Hotel Saint George. The building itself is beautiful, classy and modern with an excellent vibe. I was very excited to meet Omar, who was so helpful and sweet. He helped get us unloaded and up to our room and answered my one million questions. Mimi at the front desk was equally amazing and helpful. Super easy check in and the hotel is in a great location. We were starving and Amber was so helpful and sweet getting us seated at the restaurant and telling me where to go to get my nails fixed and anything else I needed to know! Then we met my favorite person, Nakita. wow! What an incredible human being. Beautiful person inside and out. It was our daughters 3rd birthday and she made it so special! She gave us great wine and dinner recommendations and everything she picked was outstanding. Their pizza is top notch. And the grilled shrimp appetizer is outstanding. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. We had a lot! The rooms are laid out very well and they are spotless clean and smell so good. Not cluttered and they have everything you need. The beds are super comfy and they even give you ear plugs for the trains (which we didn't use...we have 5 kids, trains are quiet compared to them ) Our fav part of the hotel is by far the pool. The pool is AMAZING. Excellent lay out, even more excellent vibe, great music, and heavenly drinks love the pool. Noelie and Victoria at the front are so sweet and helpful and Liza in the gift shop is so friendly and wonderful. What an awesome experience at a wonderful hotel. We cannot wait to go back. Thank you all for making it such a pleasurable experience, you can have the most amazing hotel in the world and a shitty staff and that will ruin everything. This hotel is so fortunate to have it all. Keep up the good work. Erin Krampitz
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
The experience doesn't match the prices. Great design and an excellent restaurant, but the staff gives misinformation, then acts indifferent instead of resolving the issue. If you want to enjoy the pool complex, you better triple verify the hours with multiple employees so you can actually get it. And you can hear every footstep from the room above you. It's impossible to relax. They give you earplugs in the room and they claim it's for the train - it's not. If you don't get a top floor room, stay elsewhere. It's that bad. For three hundred a night, one would hope for better quality.

Yelp
Nice hotel. Pretty. Nice bar. Very modern. Liked the hotel but prefer the atmosphere at Hotel Paisano. Nice book store. Good service. The Moscow mule was ok

Yelp
we stopped into the hotel bar for happy hour and perused the marfa book company tables on the same visit. in terms of the bar, the drink was fine (we each had the happy hour margarita) and we also ordered fried green tomatoes off the happy hour menu. the tomatoes were nicely cubed and had a good cornmeal batter that offered an out of the ordinary texture. the food was brought and we had no utensils. those came after the fact. then the drinks arrived. they had solid alcohol pours and we were given the choice of spicy or regular; from what i could tell, the difference meant having tajin on the glass rim. in general the service was ok. the food was good as were the drinks. a nice place to stop into if you're tooling around in marfa and want to whet your whistle in the late afternoon. it wasn't a terrible but it also didn't stand out as exceptional.

Anna E.

Yelp
The hotel itself is very nice, love the vibe in the lobby. The Brussel sprouts at the restaurant are too good to pass up.
google avatar

Luke H.

Yelp
If you miss big city prices and portions! You've come to the right place! Our $14 Niçoise salad had 1/4 of an egg on it and if we wanted fish (a traditional ingredient) it would have cost an additional $12!!! If I wanted to pay $30 for a salad I'd go to the Whole Foods salad bar. Don't get me wrong, the dressing was house made and tasty. The small plate of mixed greens with green beans and 6 half cherry tomatoes were nice and flavorful. The staff were lovely and kind and took great care of us. The place was comfy and maintained.

Yelp
I really liked this hotel. It's nice and modern with a great location. To me, the room was especially nice. It's thoughtful that they provide earplugs and a little card with a disclaimer about the nearby train. Note: the train did not bother me or disrupt my sleep. The restaurant on the other hand, super bland. It's like nothing we ordered had any flavor or seasoning. Super strange. I really liked the bar area though and thought drinks were good. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Wanted to stop for a bite to eat. Great ambiance, contemporary with old design elements. Found ourselves our own table when no one greeted or helped. Ordered sandwiches and had to wait 40 minutes for them. All this I can forgive but not the bad service. No one checked on us, attitude from server when I asked for more dressing, never got my lemon wedge. Won't be back. Won't recommend. too bad

Yelp
What a great place to stay. I would've give 5 stars but our initial greeting was a bit bumpy. We arrived early and were told we couldn't check in early, come back later. I walked away thinking that could've been handled better. Maybe provide us the town guide we were later offered? Explain that we could have a beverage in the bar while we waited? Perhaps bell check our bag (it was a one night stay). None of that - but it was busy and the desk folks seemed tired. The stay did however take a turn for the better when we returned from our event. Omar was more than welcoming! He even offered to run out for anything we may need since it was chilly. Quite unexpected. In addition the room had lovely soaps, comfortable beds, a small wet bar and a terrific view of the town. We will come again!

Yelp
I had high expectations for this place after some online research, but Hotel Saint George met my expectations! Super clean and modern- luxe but not obnoxious. Folks at check-in and the pool were super nice and friendly. We brought our cat Stuffy and he loved it, too! We booked a Highland suite which was spacious with awesome windows. Location is perfect for exploring the nearby galleries. I have to say I was skeptical about eating at the hotel, but seriously.. worth it! Unique flavors and quality food. We had happy hour at the bar, dinner at LaVenture, and breakfast at the bar the next morning. The bookstore in the hotel is small, but has a great selection. If you're coming to Marfa looking for modern and minimalist aesthetics in accommodations, this is the place for you!

Yelp
Came during a visit and ended up having dinner here. The food was average, drinks were good but the service was horrible. Not only do they not have any one greet us for like 10 minutes after sitting down, the waitress basically waved me off when I tried to get her attention. I'm not sure we would have been served if I didn't physically stop another waitress and ask her to take our orders. It seems all the servers here are experts at avoiding eye contact - a useful skill for avoiding mall kiosks but not so much if you're a server. The food took a little bit to come out and when it did my burger's bun was too stiff/hard on the outside to eat into comfortably. And I don't mean it had a little bit of a crust, I mean it was like a rock. The burger patty itself was cooked well but that was it and the tomato slice was barely the size of a dollar coin (wtf?). Fried calamari and mac/cheese were good for what they were. And finally the liquor menu had a good variety but I only had one drink. Not sure I would come back here unless I needed to again (in other words, when everything else in town was closed).

Yelp
+ Location: 5 + Service: 1 + Overall experience: 1 + Cleanliness: 3 + Amenities: 2 SUMMARY: Due to the extreme lack of service and attention to detail we experienced during this stay, we will be staying at another property the next time we visit Marfa. It's extremely disheartening to write this review. I've worked in the hospitality industry in the past and I have an extreme soft spot for hotels - especially ones that look as charming as Hotel St. George does. LOCATION: The location is perfect - it is right in the middle of Marfa. This is to say that although I give the location a 5 out of 5, Marfa is an extremely tiny town, so you'll be great staying anywhere as everything is within walking distance. However, it's nice to be in a hotel that has a restaurant and bar downstairs, especially as so many restaurants in town operate on 'Marfa time' - i.e., you have no idea if they'll be open or closed, even if they have operating hours on their website. SERVICE/OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Our initial greeting was a bit strange, but we wrote it off as a one-off situation. We arrived late on a Friday night and the person at the front desk began sweating profusely and forgot words such as 'battery' and 'card reader.' Totally ok- though a bit strange. We were told upon arrival that the water would be shut off from 1am to 3am. We asked how long the hotel had known of this situation, and they let us know that they had been given notice for about a week. We had just booked the hotel a few days before, so we were surprised that we hadn't received a notice upon booking, as this most likely would've affected our accommodation choice - or, at the very least, the time we planned to arrive at the hotel. After driving 10+ hours, all we wanted was a hot shower! Thankfully, we had two hours to spare until the water was shut off, so we took about an hour to unpack and relax once we went up to our room. However, at midnight (an hour before the water was supposed to shut off), the shower, toilet, and sink wouldn't work and we were without water for the night. I was also opening one of the windows when the screen fell off. Unfortunately, I caught the screen corner with my hand, which was extremely sharp, so I started bleeding. We went to the front desk and issued a complaint the next morning, in which they simply apologized about the inconvenience. CLEANLINESS: The room was ok. There were scuffs along the bathroom wall and when the cleaners came through the next night, there was still trash on the floor, but overall it was fine. AMENITIES: Many of the amenities (pool, gym, etc.) are off-site. However, as mentioned, it's nice to be in a hotel that has a bar and restaurant readily available. There is no room service. OTHER: After we complained about the aforementioned screen door and water cutoff, we noticed that the lamp in the corner would flicker on and off randomly throughout the night, which was definitely a disturbance. We ended up unplugging the light completely and chose not to issue a complaint to the hotel as they hadn't rectified the situation in the other two instances mentioned. FWIW, we were in room 406. Overall, I would recommend staying elsewhere. There are so many other hotels and beautiful Airbnbs in Marfa! However, I would come back to visit the restaurant and grab a quick bite if I was in the area.

Yelp
I am sure COVID-19 had a part to play in our experience there, but absolutely no restaurants in Marfa were open, and the only food in the hotel was a block away at the pool. We sauntered over to the bar there, and the Kale salad and nachos were absolutely horrid. If you are going to SERVE food and make clients walk to a distant pool down the street, at LEAST have good bar food. They would not serve in the bar area at the hotel. The room was OK but not overly impressive- maybe when the virus passed in 2024 we will try the town again... but not this hotel... the other hotel that people stay at was a block away and looked really pedestrian..Hotel Paisano. Maybe the art scene is worth coming back.. we will see!

Yelp
Fantastic hotel. The service was great! Victoria at the front desk was amazing. Ty in the restaurant was a pleasure. Victoria found an earring I had lost and was so nonchalant about it all! Rooms were well designed. Won't stay anywhere else.

Yelp
I had not been to the hotel in a very long time and they have recently renovated. The new rooms are absolutely breathtaking and have everything that you need to be comfortable for a weekend or longer. The nicest part for me is that you had to have a fob to get anywhere on the elevator so safety was no concern. The hotel is perfectly located in Downtown Marfa and everything is walking distance to the hotel (except for Prada-- she's a good drive off). The staff were all very nice and extra helpful. We were in town for a wedding and the event was at the Saint George Hall-- it was ABSOLUTELY STUNNING! They also catered the event and the food was incredible-- my extremely picky husband even loved the Brussel sprouts- HA!

Yelp
Staff here is young, happy and friendly. But there are issues here you need to be careful of. Our room view was in the unacceptable category; aka none. Literally. The room is sizable enough, but dark. In other words if you have to spend any time in your room, forget it. The bookstore is interesting, but you won't want to look for chapstick or tampons in the gift shop. Beds are comfy with nice linens. In general, we all expect the basics from hotels these days, this place is exceptional in the price category and should serve it up. It's good, not great.

Yelp
Ultra Modern!!!! Doesn't fit the town. $$$$ very pricey. For high prices I expect perfection. We left out on a bike ride when we returned we were missing $100 from our room! Notified Matt....who said he would let Lisa know. I told him we weren't expecting the return of the money but thought they should know. LISA never called and when we went to the front to pick up a print out and asked if she was made aware...."ahhhhh? yes". Didn't offer an apology! That would have beat the silent treatment! Seriously! We WILL not be back To St. George's
