Hotel San Anselmo (Rome, Lazio) 12 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A little off the beaten path, in a residential neighborhood on the Aventine Hill, the Hotel San Anselmo is ideal for that most paradoxical of escapes: the big-city hideaway. Whether it’s a lovers’ weekend or just some time alone, it’s an undeniable fact that some of us would rather disappear to the city than the countryside — and a charming little boutique hotel like the San Anselmo is just the place to do it." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel San Anselmo | Best places to stay in Rome

"A rare place to stay on the Aventine – a very peaceful district in central Rome – this 19th-century villa was thoroughly remodeled in 2006. Rooms are lavish, featuring original woodwork, marble baths, and sumptuous yet contemporary Baroque furnishings and fabrics. There’s not much in the way of amenities for a four-star property, but it does have a lovely courtyard garden. Breakfast and afternoon tea are served there to the accompaniment of birdsong. There’s no restaurant, though there are many excellent ones nearby. It has a lovely, tranquil feel, away from the hurly-burly of Rome; yet the hotel is within walking distance of many city sights. It’s a lovely choice for couples who want to combine Rome with romance and relaxation. " - Rebecca Winke

My favorite hotel in Rome. Quiet, extremely elegant neighborhood. Outside the more touristy center, but a few minutes walk to beautiful sites such as Circo massimo, and close to a subway that takes you to the railway station and Colosseo in a few minutes. Nice, clean, elegant rooms, with a jacuzzi and many with a wonderful view. A few minutes from Testaccio where the best Roman restaurants are to be found. What more could you wish for?

This place was overall ok to stay at but they put us in the handicap accessible room which we were not told about beforehand and it had some quirks, mainly that the shower pooled water all over the bathroom floor and made a huge mess every time we used it. We had to get bunches of towels to soak up the water and it was sort of a pain. Besides that the room was fine, some stuff didn’t work and it seems like certain things need fixing but for the price the place is nice and the breakfast is pretty good. Location is very good and you can find parking nearby for free.

What a fabulous place! The rooms were stunning. it was like staying in a castle. Staff at the front desk were very helpful with everything, including arranging transportation. The continental breakfast had many choices: various cold cuts and cheeses, delicious pastries, fruit, yogurt, granola, breads and jams. The porter Greg served dual purposes - carrying in our bags and serving drinks and snacks on the premises. A real treat! We couldn't have picked a better place!

We spent 4 days in the upper suite. The views were breathtaking. The appartment was very large and also had a kitchen. The 2 large balconies made it perfect for us though. The staff were helpful, the breakfast was very nice and the cocktails excellent.

Nice hotel, a bit far from the main attractions which was not a problem for me and my partner. Specifically if you have the app called Lime you get bikes/scooters and get by easily around town. Bedroom was okay, comfortable bed, the bathroom has hydro. AC was also working well!!! The breakfast could be a little better despite it was well served there was no hot section so not scrambled eggs, bacon and so on…. If you wish to eat scrambled egg you could order but that would be on extra cost. Overall had a nice stay but the hotel does not appear to be 4 stars as it claims to be.

This is a really nice hotel in a quiet location well within walking distance of all of Rome's main attractions. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms are peaceful and clean. Breakfast has a wide range of classic continental pastries, fruit etc. though you can purchase cooked dishes if you wish. We didn't as we were more than happy with cappuccino, juice, egg, yogurt. The bar has a good range including a limited sandwich selection - we had one of these after a particularly tiring day and it was excellent. Overall I'd definitely choose to stay here again.

The location is very peaceful and silent, which made for a relaxing stay. Although you have to climb a little inclined road to reach the hotel, everything else is very good. I would definitely want to stay at this same hotel if I visited Rome again.

The staff are amazing, from check in to breakfast. Even though we didn't see the cleaners, they were amazing also. Our room was attended to every day. We were early for check in and our room wasn't ready so they took our bags and recommended restaurants at the bottom of the hill. (Hill is a killer to walk back up 😂) We went to Osteria San Giorgio Restaurant and the food was really good and the staff were lovely. When we came back to check in, our bags were already in our room and we received a welcome drink (non alcoholic) and it was so refreshing and we were shown to our room. One of the nights here, we did ask about food and was told the kitchen was closed for 2 weeks as they are on holiday, so that was a bit disappointing. The Colosseum is about a 20 minute walk. The key hole is right around the corner from this hotel and the Orange park too. The Orange park is a must if you like to watch the sunset, it's beautiful. We went there for about 8pm. Overall I can't fault this hotel. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely stay. 😊
