MICHELIN Guide Hotels as Stylish as the MICHELIN Guide Restaurants Inside

"Chef Ryan Fancher's modern steakhouse is on the grounds of Hotel San Luis Obispo, in a separate building connected by a walkway. The hotel's contemporary Southwest vibe lives on in the restaurant. Design details, like butterscotch leather banquettes, a stacked brick wall divider, and teal-blue tiles, enhance the X factor. Staff are well-informed, so let them steer you through the menu. Start with such comfort fare as savory goat cheese croquettes with sweet lavender honey before embarking on the main event—charred steaks and sides of creamed spinach topped with onion rings." - Nancy DePalma

California Hotels That Aren't on the Coast

"The San Luis Obispo is a boutique hotel that’s equally suited as a home base for exploring or as a sanctuary for a private getaway. The hotel’s elegant modern exterior ruffled some feathers early on — this town loves its Spanish Colonial architecture — but it’s a vibrant addition to the downtown historic district. Inside, expect to find airy and spacious suites, decorated in a style that draws inspiration from breezy beaches and boho-chic ranch life." - Mark Fedeli

I have not stayed here overnight, but the ' rooms ' that we did use, like the roof, was fantastic. Last time there, it was too cold and not enough heaters out, but today was perfect! Pizza, martinis, and lemon drops were our drinks tonight, for a large party, and I wish I knew the tallish server, with black hair ( helping the medical group) was awesome. Timely and cool! Recommend!

Just back from a SLO scout trip and thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Service was top notch throughout: From the friendly, efficient valets, to lovely Stephanie at reception, to the can-do staff at Piadina, to the prompt and gracious housekeeping staff. All these people seemed to actually be enjoying their jobs. As a solo traveler, I appreciate the care shown to me. Room was ready on time, spotless, and I loved the modern decor, little balcony, dual paned glass door that actually muffled noise and/or let in fresh air. Sadly, I did not have time to try the Spa. Well done Hotel SLO team!

We recently had an INCREDIBLE experience at Hotel SLO celebrating my friend's 21st birthday, and I can't recommend it enough! The food and drinks were absolutely fantastic — delicious, well-presented, and perfect for the special occasion. What truly made the evening memorable was our server, Hakeem. He went above and beyond with his attentive service, offering great recommendations and checking on us periodically to ensure we were having a great time. Hakeem also surprised us by singing happy birthday to my friend, and honestly, he could be a professional singer — his voice was phenomenal! His kindness, hospitality, and genuine personality made the celebration even more special. If you're visiting Hotel SLO, be sure to ask for Hakeem — he's a true gem and will make your meal or celebration unforgettable!

My experience at the San Luis Obispo hotel was amazing! The Mission Double Queen room was stylish and comfortable, with a great design. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was absolutely delicious! Everything was tasty and beautifully presented. This is one of the best places I've stayed at in the U.S.! Highly recommend!

I stayed at Hotel SLO for the first time in February 2025 and a fantastic experience. The location is excellent; you're in the middle of downtown so you're within walking distance of tons of amazing restaurants and shops. The hotel itself is beautiful- everything is in pristine condition and modern- and the customer service was excellent (special shout out to the guys at valet who were super friendly). We also went to the spa which was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend- tranquil and lovely. ||We got a room with a king bed and it was gorgeous, spacious, spotless, but there were definitely a few quirks:|-The bathroom was right near the bed, which was odd, and it had a sliding door (not a regular closing door) so it didn't feel like you had a lot of privacy.|-Also, regular on/off light switches didn't exist. There was a series of buttons that weren't labeled so you had to randomly press buttons to try and figure out what lights would turn off in the room. This drove me crazy. Sometimes modern isn't always better- I would have preferred a regular switch or dimmer. ||Other than that, the room was perfect. You get a jug of free water, tea/coffee, a few snacks, which was a nice perk, and the on-site restaurants are DELICIOUS. We ordered room service from Piadina and went in person to Ox + Anchor, which was sensational. They also have a bar downstairs with live music. Despite the room quirks, I would highly recommend this place for the amazing location, service, dining, and beautiful rooms and hotel. It was a fantastic stay.

Google
Hotel SLO is a spacious, new, luxury hotel right in downtown San Luis Obispo. It's right in the center of town and gives easy walking access to the downtown dining and shopping. Due to it's perfect location, this is clearly a popular hotel and one of the places to be when visiting. At both check in and check out the small driveway was lined with cars, which were backed up onto the street. We chose to get our bags out curbside and self -park in the public garage right across the street. There was also a private event on the rooftop, so we didn't get to experience that either. |The room is clean, large, and modern. The bathroom is huge, there's a nice balcony facing the interior patio, and plenty of sitting room. This hotel was not inexpensive when we stayed, and while you are getting a lot of value in the room size/quality category, the overall stay with the parking/events didn't feel as luxury or geared towards individual travelers (maybe more business or events?). Due to the nice room and location I'd probably look to stay here again if I visit SLO, but I'll be searching for a better rate.

Google
What a wonderful hotel. Perfectly located. Very modern and very comfortable. The room are expertly designed, bed were comfortable, staff was friendly and very helpful. One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at (and I have travelled the world). The quality blew me away for such a small town. Wonderful rooftop bar and lots of good, cool restaurants within walking distance.

Google
Stayed at Hotel SLO for a couple nights on a visit to see our son who’s attending Cal Poly. Beautiful property that looks new. ||Nice lobby, lobby bar & outdoor rooftop bar, 2 restaurants, spa, outdoor heated pool & hot tub. Wide hallways lit by natural sunlight. Great location in downtown SLO, walking distance to everything. ||3rd floor Room was beautiful & spacious with comfortable beds, a nice sitting area, blue tooth speaker, nespresso machine & hot water maker, fridge, and balcony with a great view. Nice little espresso bar in the lobby with fresh pastries & complementary drip coffee.||Self parking in the garage across the street or valet parking with a very cool app to request your car which is retrieved in minutes. Very friendly and attentive service by all the staff. ||This is the place to stay when in SLO!

Yelp
This is an extremely impressive hotel. Very comfortable, very modern, they already have cold water ready for you in the rooms, they have a mini fridge, sandals and a robe in the closet after you take your bath. They also have neopresso machines to make coffee in the morning, chips and assorted snack in the drawers. They have soap that are hand made by La Jolla soaps and spa like shower heads that have really great pressure to shower in. The beds are very comfortable, clean rooms and linen. The outside balcony is nice and charming. Overall I do Recommend staying in this hotel. They have a restaurant downstairs and a gift store if you wanted to buy any of the products in the room!

Yelp
We stayed one night in this hotel to break up a long road trip with a baby and we are so glad we did! This hotel is gorgeous. The room is so spacious, wooden floors were clean, and there's great amenities. It's in an ideal location next to many restaurants and shops. The walls are a little thin and you can easily hear noise in the hallway but overall I can overlook those things.

Yelp
I couldn't resist returning to Hotel San Luis Obispo, and wow, I'm so glad I did! They seriously know how to make a guest feel special. Kirstin is an absolute gem - she remembered me from my last stay and made me feel like a VIP. This time, I tried the hotel's other restaurant/pub, Ox and Anchor, and loved the vibe. I wanted a chill night with great food, and they delivered! Think upscale pub grub with a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. Perfect for when you want something tasty without all the fuss. Word of warning, though, the room rates can be a bit pricey, but honestly, I think the incredible service and experience make it worth it. Can't wait to come back to SLO, and you better believe I'll be splurging to stay here again. If you want top-notch service, a fantastic location, and that perfect California cool vibe, look no further than Hotel San Luis Obispo.

Yelp
We loved this hotel. It's modern, beautifully designed and perfectly located to see town and enjoy the gorgeous views. The staff is well trained, friendly and always looking to help make your stay memorable. We also enjoyed their restaurant with great farm to table options and delicious wood oven pizzas. Plenty of place to relax inside and out, including a beautiful pool and courtyard. They've thought of everything. We will be back!

Yelp
We love this hotel and will be back. The food downstairs is delicious. We ate there at least twice. Service was really good from valet, to the sweetest housekeeping, and the entire restaurant staff! The hotel was very clean and up to date. The bed was super comfy and I loved the pillows. The ac also really worked well! Everything was really good just not 5 star, the room was about $1300 a night and did have some maintain it needed (I can't add anymore pics).

Yelp
Back home in San Diego but now fully believe our desire to celebrate Thanksgiving on the Central Coast was just a clever ruse to visit the Hotel SLO again (our third stay but who's counting?). We were still in Paso Robles on Wednesday when the email came from GM extraordinaire Denis Volic that a pre-noon check in on T-day was confirmed...And most appreciated! This time we booked a Tolosa Studio which not only had a spacious balcony but also windows for days (think fishbowl...but in a good way!). A celebratory buffet meal was waiting downstairs and we were seated at Piadina by the charming Melayna. Ricky immediately brought some margaritas and then we headed over to load up plates of moist turkey, succulent salmon, sage and onion stuffing, the BEST mashed potatoes ever and on and on. Kudos to Daniel Rivas...Every hotel should be so lucky to have someone like him to oversee their food and beverage program! The next evening we walked over to Ox + Anchor which always sets the standard for steak and service! Lannon Rust watches over it all and offers a warm and gracious welcome! At the table, Mimi was extremely knowledgable about the ever-changing wine options and offered up a sincere and highly professional service experience...Ribeye steaks cooked a perfect medium rare and asparagus slightly al dente! Hotel SLO is just one of those places where you check in and never really need to leave. We're already planning a birthday visit this Spring (that will make it number four but who's counting?). Highly recommended!

Yelp
We had an amazing time here. I loved the clean, mid-century modern aesthetic. Everyone from the valet, front desk staff and housekeeping was so friendly and genuine. It was easy walk-ability to all of downtown SLO. And I loved their emphasis on sustainability.

Yelp
Terrific unassuming little hotel, complete with a ton of amenities, everything you'd want from a pool to hot tub to patio to robes and slippers to solid well built bed and AC with multiple restaurants. They don't have room service, which is surprising and their breakfast at Piadina truly sucks. But it's in downtown andwalking distance to everything. Service also on point, efficient and welcoming. The room rates are on par with other hotels in the area and I loved that they have free sparkling and still water dispensers in the floor with ice machines. Solid place to stay! Btw., I was mistaken about them not having room service--when my husband looked on the phone, it had a little sign that says "dine in" but they don't hm go out of their way to advertise it, so given they do have this not so little perk, I had to change my rating to 5 stars lol!

Yelp
"All the leaves are brown (all the leaves are brown) And the sky is gray (and the sky is gray)" - CA dreaming. You know you are in Cali when you arrive in SLO. Now this is a prime minister quality hotel that I get to stay in. I never stay in high end but thanks to my mother's awesome cousin I did and man it feels so good. Who knew I would find such good accommodations in SLO? I don't get this in my county. This is the good place to take a family trip. I love their spa. It makes me say "oh mumma" and relax. This is the next best thing to the worlds famous Madonna Inn not far from here. If you are unable to get that hotel come here. Top of the line spa that makes you feel like royalty. You will be really CA dreaming if you stay here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=feBRUHh9IME

Yelp
We hosted our son's college graduation luncheon at Hotel SLO in the Ah Louis terrace. We booked and planned the event with Katie and had David and Josh from events team as our servers that day. They were over the top nice, helpful, proactive. 5 star service for sure. The food was AMAZING. Our luncheon for 22 had perfect service, perfect food and was an exceptional experience. The Ah Louis terrace room is beautiful, private yet, open air..highly recommend!

Yelp
Although a bit pricey, the rooms are modern & include many wonderful conveniences. Love the location & easy access to downtown SLO & wonderful restaurants. The rooftop bar is a must for sunset! Service was impeccable! If you are a Mustang Parent, be sure to pre-register as such before booking your room reservation to get a discount!

Yelp
Too noisy. You can hear your neighbors walking above you and closing every drawer and cabinet. It's so annoying especially at 1am. Called for front desk to do something about this and nothing changed. Do not recommend staying here. Also, cleaners did a poor job cleaning. Left hair from previous occupant on bathroom sink. Dust everywhere. Gross!!

Yelp
This place is outstanding. I haven't had this much fun at a hotel bar in my entire existence. The bartender, Mark, made sure that we had a wonderful time from the moment we stepped foot in this place until the second we left. He was so fun, friendly, and attentive and I personally would take a bullet for him. Hopefully we are never in a situation where that would be an issue, but if the opportunity arose I am confident I would step in the line of fire and do what I needed to do to defend the second best bartender this town has ever seen. 100000/10 would come here every day for the rest of my life.

Yelp
On our road trip from San Francisco to LA, we stopped in here for a rest and really enjoyed our short stay. The room was very updated and chic, loved all the modern decor and design throughout the room. Extra points for the Kettle Chips & cookies waiting for us too. The bar and lobby is exceptionally stocked with drinks & wine for purchase. The lobby bar and restaurant is a warm comfortable place to hang out and grab a bite. Valet parking is only $20. Only cons were noise. From our 2nd floor room we could clearly hear cars and skateboarders passing by. We could also hear activity outside our door, someone knocking on another door and moving about. There was also a late night stomp-a-thon apparently happening in the room just above ours. Nevertheless, I would absolutely stay here again if passing thru.

Yelp
We came here for lunch on my way to the airport after a stay in SLO. Right off the rip, it's really spacious and isn't stuffy at all. We had freedom to sit anywhere so we picked the patio, part sun part shade, perfect choice being 1000 degrees out in march. Ordered a cappuccino, fries and tuna for our apps. Smashed it. Delicious. Here's where it doesn't win and points, the chicken sandwich patty is frozen and tastes previously frozen. Textures were off and taste was bland.... The lettuce on the salad is waaaaaay too big, like FULL HONKIN leaves. Need to find a smaller head or dice it up a bit fellas. The beef burger was good, juicy and full of flavor. Service was alright. Overall not a bad effort.

Yelp
This hotel is amazing! Stayed here just one night to help break up a long drive and I feel like I got lucky choosing this hotel with a quick Yelp search. The whole place is inviting from the moment you pull up. The staff is friendly the layout of the hotel and it's restaurant, which you see immediately when entering the lobby, are really well done. As soon as I entered the lobby, I saw dogs!! This place is very pet friendly which is something I have grown to appreciate since I like to travel with my dogs as much as possible. The rooms are modern and the bathrobes are so soft! I love when hotels have bathrooms as an option to use. Went down to the bar for dinner and ordered appetizers, an entree and a cocktail. The drink was better than any margarita I have ever had, which is ridiculous how that can be. The food was also really good!! The steak was tender and cooked perfectly and the appetizers were so delicious, I kept wanting to order more. I will say, this is a very active hotel. So if you're looking for complete darkness and quiet when you go to sleep, this may not be the place for you. I fell asleep at 10:40pm and on the main floor you could still hear music and people laughing and talking. I stayed on the third floor near an open area by the pool and it was a Saturday night. Overall, great hotel!! I can't wait to come back and bring my dogs so we can go to the dog beach nearby.

Yelp
I had a wonderful stay at Hotel SLO. It's a welcome addition to the area which has average or super kitschy hotels. They have good restaurants and the location is fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and spacious. The only nit would be that the gym is below par. I wish they could upgrade the equipment and I would stay here everytime.

Yelp
Where to begin?! The attentive staff? The beautiful decor and design? The attention to detail? The stunning views? Yes. Hotel SLO is a unique place in a special town, carrying itself like a deserved well-run hotel should. We spent three wonderful days and nights here and couldn't have been happier. The crew was top-notch and bent over backwards to help and be helpful. A special shout to Gweneviere! Our room (a King) was decorated beautifully and our view was breathtaking. The heavy sliding glass door kept out any outdoor sounds to boot. The Valet was excellent as well and went above and beyond when this bozo left his glasses in our parked car. A shout as well to the crew at the exceptional in-house restaurant, Piadina. We enjoyed eating at the bar as well as on the patio (not simultaneously, I should note). The menu has a nice and varied selection and the cocktails were delicious. It was a treat to be at the Hotel SLO, and were hopeful that we'll be able treat ourselves again sometime soon.

Yelp
My wife and I recently stayed here for a Fri-Sun weekend getaway, our first visit to SLO after a short road trip from the Bay Area. The Good: - The staff were exceptional--everyone was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had no issues at all. Melayna at Piadina, who provided outstanding service as our waitress, was a standout. Dom at High Bar was also excellent. Thank you both for taking care of us and being so friendly. - The location is fantastic, making it easy to walk downtown. - We loved the low/high bar options, along with the live music on Friday night. - Piadina restaurant was excellent, offering a good selection of food and great service. - Having water readily available for you in your room with a modern and clean refrigerator was amazing. Super easy to walk down the hallway to refill the mason jars at the water dispenser on each floor. A very thoughtful idea and something we wish other hotels had. - Though a smaller hotel, it was nice seeing each floor secured by hotel key. Feeling safe is important. The Bad: - The shower was a major issue. The design provides inadequate coverage, leading to water getting all over the bathroom floor. We had to use multiple towels each time to keep the water from spreading into the main room. This was a constant concern. Not ok. - The shutters in the room were broken, with some barely staying closed. Far too much light leaked through, and there should be better coverage--at the very least, curtains to block out the light. Even budget hotels manage this better. Not ok. - When we arrived, we encountered numerous fruit flies in our room. After we killed a few, they disappeared and we only encountered one more over the weekend. They were primarily over the bed and headboard, which makes it even more disturbing. We almost asked to switch rooms, but it would have been very inconvenient and we seemed to resolve it on our own. Not ok. - Around midnight, on the first night of our stay and while we were out downtown, we received a notification that our car had been brought to the front of the hotel. I never requested the car through the valet service. Imagine being on vacation and getting the scare that your car might be getting stolen. We immediately called the front desk and were told it was likely a mistake, and the car would be re-parked. However, when we didn't see the car move immediately in our car app, we returned to the hotel to ensure everything was okay. This was a total disruption to our evening. Not ok. - If you're seeking a quiet room, this may not be the right place for you. The mornings are especially noisy, with sounds coming from all directions due to thin walls and ceilings. If you're not a morning person, consider other options. - The pricing is definitely on the higher side. While we were prepared for this and can afford it, we felt that the room didn't justify the cost. We've stayed in many luxury hotels, and this wasn't that. At most, we felt the room was worth $300-$400 per night, not the $650+ (including fees) we were charged for a non-suite room. - I attempted to fill out their survey after our hotel stay, but received an error upon submission. I'm leaving my review here instead... While we truly enjoyed our weekend in SLO and appreciated the great hotel location with its good food and bar options, the numerous issues with our room and the sense of having overpaid leave us inclined to explore other options for our next visit.

Yelp
Very pleasantly surprised by our stop in this town during a Pacific Coast Highway tour. We really enjoyed our room here, lots of very thoughtful details clearly went into the planning. One of our favorite hotel bathrooms ever, and our balcony was a decent enough size overlooking the restaurant courtyard below. Great location very walkable to lots of very interesting downtown places to see. After staying here, we became very spoiled to having an evening espresso, so I'm pretty sure ordering a machine for the house is now in our future.

Yelp
Wonderful hotel and fantastic rooms. And they have a water bar with unlimited sparkling and filtered water outside the room. They also have valet parking with Tesla HPWC chargers.

Yelp
Had a great stay last week at Hotel SLO. Located almost next door to the Mission San Luis Obispo, which was fun to walk through and dead center in the middle of a lot of shops and restaurants, it's perfectly situated. It is a nicely designed modern hotel with stylish rooms that are spacious, comfortable, with operable windows and doors and balconies, one of our basic must haves. The A.C. was central, with another must have, an easily controlled thermostat. The decor was modern and cool, very happy with the bathroom layout with separate shower and toilet room plus separate sink room, divided by partitions. It had a nice multi-color tile scheme that was fun, with matte black plumbing fixtures. Good coffee machine, Nespresso I think. The room had a calming color scheme of white walls and dark blue doors, with a cool uplit rope art piece above the beds. Big floor to ceiling shutters and sliding doors provided nice views, light and air, and privacy when we needed it. The hallways to the room from the elevator were huge, a big improvement from other hotels, very spacious. All staff we interacted were enthusiastic and on point, from the valet parker to the front desk. We ate at Piadina, the downstairs restaurant which was excellent. Had a beautiful ribeye steak medium rare on the nose, with fries. Before that had a yummy chopped salad and a nice Chardonnay. Our waitress at was really good and had a nice time. Would definitely come back if we're in the area. Great stay.

Yelp
Definitely recommend staying here if you're in the SLO area! Great staff and clean rooms. Also a great food and drinks at the hotel PLUS amazing room service! 4 stars instead of 5 because there were some things in the bathroom that looked like they needed some updating/attention...peeling paint and scuffs. BUT it wasn't anything that took away from the experience and our stay! If I head back in that area, I would absolutely stay here again over anywhere else.

Michael S.

Yelp
We celebrated our 44th anniversary with a staycation at Hotel SLO. Daniel Rivas assisted us in so many ways including arranging our dinner party at Ox and Anchor. The restaurant managers Cesar and Gabby were wonderfully attentive. We could not have had a better time anywhere else.

Yelp
Regarding rooftop bar Drinks/Flavor : 3/5 old fashion was watered down and diluted with too much bitters. There was a chunk of orange in the drink rather than spiraled peels. Not a specialty single ice block but just regular crushed ice which watered down the drink extremely quickly. Ambience : 5/5 - heard it could get cold with the fog coming in. But we went on a sunny summer day around 6:30 and it stayed nice and bright. Service : 5/5 - It was a bit of a struggle to find but very helpful people along our journey who were attentive and guided us up the rooftop bar. Lady had to swipe us up to get to the rooftop. Water refills came instantly. Value for Price : 3/5 Again, the drink wasn't great but you're here for the good vibes, good service, and good company.

Yelp
Hotel San Luis Obispo is a modern contemporary industrial style boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown SLO. Walkscore must be 100% with everything close by. The SLO Museum of Art, Performing Arts Theatre, and countless bars, restaurants and shops surrounding it. Every conveinience has been thought of, sustainable water bottles and filter stations throughout, free snacks in the rooms to satisfy hunger upon arrival, artsy nuances, and a super quick and easy system for the valet (only $20)- no more safeguarding a paper ticket- just text them when you are ready to go. We did leave the property twice, once to go to Cal Poly (8 minute drive) to see a Ballet and once to visit the Sycamore Hot Springs (11 minutes away) The property has a pool, 2 restaurants, Piadina and Ox and Anchor, 2 Bars, one on the roof and one in the lobby, and Region, a wine tasting room that serves as a hub for small local winemakers who may not have a tasting room to offer their wines on tap, all incoporated on the grounds of the hotel. By the second night we met friends we'd made the night before in the lobby, which turns into a stylish lounge by the days end. From there we walked to Sidecar and ended the night at the creeky tiki to relive our college days and dance the night away. Getting back to the hotel was a breeze, everything within a 5 minute walk. Finally, You must stop by Ox and Anchor! the Kobe Flat Iron steak comes from snake River farms especially for them, and the beet salad was unlike any Id ever had! Savory, fruity, bursting with juicy grapefruit and sitting on top of a creamy chive yogurt with sweet toasted walnuts. The whole scene gave me steakhouse vibes if that steakhouse was also an artshow- nothing boring or traditional in their presentation of the classics- and the folks at Michelin guide also give it a mention! So do not miss dinner next door to the hotel. The final and best tip I have is to ORDER THE BAGEL SPREAD at the hotel for room service breakfast. It is the most beautiful and simultaneously delicious bagel plate i've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you take a look at my last review, I can be a it of a bagel snob- this one was toasted with butter, which I would omit next time- but the platter served charcuterie style was iconic. I promise you will NOT be disappointed.

Yelp
This place was amazing! My fiance and I visited for a quick one-night pit stop and booked a room somewhat last-minute. The atmosphere was very welcoming and the employees were happy to answer any and all of our questions - they also only offer valet through the hotel ($21 a night), otherwise you can find your own parking. The room was clean, bright, and very open. I believe they mentioned the hotel was European in design, so you'll need to put your room key into a holder to turn the main lights on and there are no full doors for the bathroom, toilet, or shower. The king bed felt WAY bigger than a king and was pretty comfortable - the pillows weren't so much but it also wasn't much of an issue. We didn't get a chance to eat downstairs but did buy a few things from their to-go section and it's pretty well-stocked with necessities and other interesting items. We got an immunity shot because we were both feeling extra exhausted from our travels over the previous week and wanted to give ourselves a boost and it worked like a charm! Overall, we had a great experience and hope to visit again soon.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here when we came to our daughter's graduation. Everything was great. I especially wanted to thank Paige for all her help! Thanks for making our stay memorable. We can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Very good location and incredible staff and comfort. We have a small dog and found this the most pet friendly hotel in 13 years of pet travel. We did have a small problem during our stay and the general manager more than resolved the issue after our visit. Will absolutely will stay again and tell our friends!!

Yelp
This is a beautiful hotel in downtown San Luis Obispo. Very friendly staff! The front desk staff was especially helpful and pleasant. The rooms were very clean/beautiful with all the needed amenities. Also, enjoyed the rooftop bar and the gym. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return soon!

Yelp
I have a hard time giving this hotel a great review, even though there were a lot of great things about the room and the hotel itself, for the simple matter that they _only_ allow valet parking on their site, and the public parking across the street doesn't have any way to let you pay for overnight parking (thanks to a new system installed recently by the city of SLO, apparently buggy). Luckily, the public parking lot on the next block was still on the old ticket system, so we had a place to park. I do not use valet parking, and find it offensive that this hotel forces people to do so. I have had a car stolen from valet parking (from a restaurant in LA), and have had a car damaged by valets (another restaurant in LA). The ticket that you get for your car, which usually reads something like "this ticket limits our liability", is not kidding - in the case of the car theft, when taken to court, the valet company was found not liable for the loss of the car, even though they also no longer had the keys for it either. No valets for me! I can park my own car, thank you very much. It's a shame - the room was very nice and quiet, the bed was comfortable, and the location was good. But I won't be staying here again if they don't allow onsite self-parking. I was on a long trip and chose this hotel for the EV charging, which of course I could not use because of being forced to use valets.

Yelp
Came here for a weekend and stayed here because it worked with our Amex credit and I'm so glad we did! The hotel is super new and updated. There is a valet that welcomed us and helped unpack the car. The lobby was super big with cute chairs for family members to wait. It's right next to 2 restaurants and a bar which can get pretty loud. There is an elevator and stairs. There's also a little convenient store and cafe downstairs where you can buy alcohol, necessities, gifts and pasteries. When we made our reservation, we told them we we're celebrating our anniversary and they left us a card and wine bottle in our room for us! It was so sweet!! The room was super nice. The bed was comfy, the pillows were good for hotel pillows, we had a balcony and view and the bathroom was massive. We also had a living room area with a mini fridge, nespresso machine and flat screen tv. The closet had slippers, robes, a steamer and a safe. The bathroom was my favorite part. It had a huge tub, big sink, toilet area and open shower. The bathroom came with makeup remover wipes and I was so glad they did because I forgot them! The staff at the hotel were all super nice and helpful! There are multipe restaurants on site and a pool/jaccuzi that closes at 10pm. I would love to come back here again!

Yelp
Another incredible stay at Hotel SLO. From the room to the service at this hotel so many exceptional aspects to our stay. Two people really stood out Henry at the entrance and Hakem in the restaurant. Two extraordinary people who had an impact on us.

Yelp
This hotel is perfectly situated in downtown San Luis Obispo. Perfect walking distance to all the major spots. The rooftop bar and restaurant are incredible as well. Incredible food and atmosphere. Service is also very good. We were served by Hakeem at breakfast and he was excellent!

Yelp
We stayed for 2 nights and it's a very nice modern hotel in a nice location close to downtown. They have valet parking for $19/night or there's a garage across the street. I suggest valet over the garage as even though the garage says $15/night, the nightly rate is from 12am-5am so if you leave later like we did at 10am we were charged over $20 for the night. Rooms are very modern, nice and clean. Just a few complaints. The lights were very confusing in the restroom and we couldn't figure out how to turn them on or off and just pressed randomly and eventually they'd turn on/off. Wasn't very intuitive or responsive. Also not sure if our room only but the rainfall shower head never seemed to turn off and we'd have to tighten it really hard to stop it from flowing. The doors slammed hard and it was loud when other guests returned late or left their rooms early in the morning. I'd recommend some kind of door slowing system so they don't slam as loud. The hotel was very popular on Friday and Saturday nights with people coming specifically for the restaurant and bar, so make reservations if you're interested in the restaurants. You can walk through the back of the hotel and it leads directly to H&M or go to the right and there's stairs that take you directly to Monterey Street which has lots of restaurants and just a short walk to the Mission. I wore my masks at all times in common areas but noticed all staff and guests didn't wear masks indoors. The valet drivers did wear masks though. I guess being from LA where masks are required indoors even if vaccinated, it was interesting to see service workers not wearing masks. Just an FYI if you're concerned about Covid safety procedures.

Yelp
This hotel is a fantastic place, modern and new!! All of the amenities one could want. Two restaurants, one was a fusion type and the other "Ox and Anchor" is a higher-end American type restaurant. Both are great! The rooms are large and all have hardwood floors. Nice decor, very modern but not too weird. Showers are large and have a flat walk-in entry which is designed perfectly. Beds are super comfy and have many pillows of different softness. Each room comes with a coffee/tea bar (Nespresso) and snacks for free!! Who has ever heard of that? We all had a balcony and that was really special too. Bathrooms were modern but not overstated. Great lighting throughout the rooms. Good closet space, plenty for over packers LOL. The most special thing about the hotel is that they have a great pet policy. They loved our dog and treated us with respect and loving care. I would stay there again in a New York minute

Yelp
High Bar rooftop bar had all the right vibes. We met some friends here before exploring downtown slo night scene. Drinks were delicious especially the Bream's Blueberry Mojito!! Everyone at the table tasted my drink and instantly wanted to order one for themselves. It was the favorite of the night. The view during sunset was incredible. We also had a delicious pizza. The con was the oysters. They were extremely small, and overpriced for the quality. However, I'll definitely bring more people back here, just won't order the oysters

Yelp
Booked a room for a special occasion on a holiday weekend. I sent an email to the concierge to make some special arrangements and Helen called me back the next day. She took 30min to make a bunch of recommendations and helped me plan a really great weekend. Rooms are beautiful and super clean and brand new. Bar is great and drinks are delicious. Roof top with great sunset views! Pool is nice. Try ox and anchor and Regions!

Yelp
While I have not had the opportunity to stay in the newly opened Hotel San Luis Obispo, we visited during the open house in December 2019, and received a tour through the facilities. We were shown three distinct rooms on the second floor: a king room with small balcony, a large suite as well as a guest room with two queen beds. Everything is immaculate, stylish and reminds me of minimal Scandinavian design. Geometric shapes and structured arrangements feel inviting, but a little impersonal. I really appreciated the wonderful art pieces like the knotted wood above the headboards, as well as many nods to the SLOcal surroundings: there's colorful pop art prints of local sights, handcrafted pottery from a local studio and complimentary cookies from Linneas bakery. We also visited the fitness studio, boardroom for professional meetings, ballroom, outdoor pool area and a sample room of the spa that is still under construction. We looked at the many outdoor areas, and are positively surprised how open and spacious the areas feel. The one downside are the high prices for overnight stays and spa services. We do like staycations or provide visiting family and friends with recommendations, but at $425 starting price for a room, and $120 for a 50-min massage, we probably won't be frequenting this hotel.

Yelp
Wow OK Hotel SLO, my family and I took a 6hr Amtrak up to SLO for the very first time and walked about a mile to your hotel, not knowing what to expect... we were completely BLOWN away and we can honestly say Hotel SLO is our "very #1 favorite hotel ever!!!!" - as noted by my 7 year old son. Family of 5 (3 kids) and we ventured up to SLO mostly for the train ride because the kids LOVE trains. We were there to celebrate our youngest baby turning 5. When we first stepped foot into Hotel SLO, I was a bit nervous as I looked around at the clientele.. I see a lot of trendy and younger to older adults. The lobby is so huge and inviting, to the left there is a lounge area with comfy couches and seats that the kids immediately ran and plopped down onto. My first thought was "NOT family friendly.." Checking in was pleasant, the front desk girls were very friendly and greeted us warmly. Not once did I receive any rude looks or glares while I tried to get my kids to calm down a bit. They weren't being rude or rambunctious or anything but I wanted them to kinda tone it down a bit, to maintain a dignified image of a polite and cultured family! HA. They're 3 boys all under 10 and they were so excited to stay at such a fancy hotel, who can blame their excitement?!? I mean, I was hiding my jumping up and down in excitement myself! The staff at the hotel was WONDERFUL and would interact with the boys. Our 7 year old couldn't stop gushing to every single employee he met on how this is his most favorite hotel in the whole world and we've stayed in quite a few hotels. I wouldn't call this a family oriented hotel because there are no kids activities at all and I would never decorate my house like this with the kids, BUT they are extremely accommodating and friendly! They even gave us extra plush robes for my kids to wear! Our dining experiences at Ox+Anchor and Piadina were nothing short of 5 stars. It was so cold but the kids, of course, wanted to play in the pool (heated!!) and so we hung out all afternoon and ordered lunch from Piadina that was delivered poolside! About the rooms, we got a room with 2 queen beds, super plush and comfortable by the way! There was a sofa and some lounge chairs and the balcony is a bit on the small side- a small table with 2 chairs. The bathroom might be considered odd by some- it comes with a wide sliding door that doesn't close shut completely so if you are concerned about bathroom privacy, you might not like it. There is a standing shower next to the bathtub. The hotel is very modern and minimalist, very open and inviting. We are just blown away at the hospitality we received at Hotel SLO! Thank you SLO for your hospitality and for making our 5 year old birthday a celebration we will never forget.

Yelp
Did a three day/two night staycation with my wife mid week. From booking to check in to restuarants to bar to spa to pool to location this is 5+ star experience. Yaneli at the front desk was a delightful ray of sunshine every day. Can not express the total satisfaction with this experience. Hint: stay on a Thursday night and easy walk to the downtown farmers market. Plenty to see and do and places to eat and drink within walking distance.

Yelp
We are return visitors from the Bay Area. From the moment you arrive, Ashley, Genevieve and Lily make you feel right at home. A can-do attitude with a big FAT smile is always guaranteed! It's just a great, cool vibe. The single cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at, period. Crazy clean! Rooms are big. Spacious. Beds are comfortable. Bathrooms are gorgeous. Sam over at the pool is always available to grab you a drink or a snack. The beet salad at Ox and Anchor is too beautiful to eat, but do eat it... and don't forget the baked Alaska at the end! To die for. Highly recommend the French toast for breakfast. Chef Matty is a mad scientist in the kitchen and Hakeem delivers your orders on time, hot and with style! Luke, outfront, is quick to grab your car from the valet and load your luggage with care. We appreciate everyone! See ya soon!

Yelp
We stayed for 2 nights to turn a football camp day for our son into a family weekend getaway. Really lovely from the moment we pulled in. Inviting valet, reception was smiling and welcoming, the elevators are conveniently located. What I noticed immediately is the air system is dreamy with a neutral/clear scent, and wide hallways are roomy and it feels as if fresh air is passing through while being completely silent. Really appreciated. The rooms are large and comfortable, I always love a door that opens to fresh air! We left it open both nights and while we were out. We ate at Piadina and on the rooftop, both were great meals and service. The filtered water on draft and crunchy ice maker were icing on the cake. Downtown is right outside, this is a terrific location. We had such a wonderful, fun, restful weekend. 10/10 would stay again.

Yelp
Decided to venture here for our Sunday after church lunch. My daughter spends a bit of time her so she thought I would like it. We had two drinks. A flatlined and a Bailey's coffee. Then ordered an asparagus appetizer. It was lightly breaded and was served with lemon wedges and aioli. We then also ordered a pizza to slight. A really great crust with red sauce, jalapeño and pineapple. Very good! I'd visit again for lunch or breakfast if offered. Pretty patio setting for day or evening settings.

Yelp
The piadina had the best breakfast I've ever had at a hotel stay in a long while. The staff there were very pleasant and helpful. The chef working days that we were staying there was very courteous to me and my family. Acknowledged our family with our returns the following days. Even checked to see if we're enjoying our stay. I believe his name is Matty. His attention to detail in his food was beyond top quality! I recommend the breakfast and the welcoming staff at this hotel!

Yelp
This was our second stay at Hotel SLO. It was our daughter's 21st birthday so we had family & friends coming in to celebrate. The hotel is located in the heart of town which makes it fun and convenient. They do go above and beyond most hotels with all of the extra amenities in the rooms. Two of the four rooms had a bottle of wine with a note welcoming us for our birthday weekend. Great restaurants and a fun bar area. We visited with so many locals that just come down for the ambiance. My only negative would be that I wish we could book in advance for just one night. We live a few hours away and sometimes just come in for a night and they have always required a two night minimum. It is definitely a treat!

Yelp
I've stayed here several times before and never had a problem. This particular stay has been extremely obnoxiously loud. The room they picked for us is right in the courtyard where sound picks up clearly extreme. I was basically made to feel like a liar when I presented my room was noisy they acted like I was crazy even though it turns out there's a full huge event 30 feet from us. Not acceptable not cool. Reed needs some customer service skills and coaching on how to be a kind human being. if a customer says it's noisy and they'd prefer to move to an upper floor or an outside room, that should not be the end of the world you should try your best to accommodate and understand and have compassion I also looked and there are plenty of rooms available that could've helped alleviate some of this noise factor but I was told nothing they could do. Refund my money videos to come soon

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise to find this uniquely design hotel, from self service water bottle in the room to friendly but not over bearing staff. Fantastic room with great view of the sunrise over the hills. Nespresso machine a nice touch. Good breakfast. And valet parking with free Tesla charging greatly reduces range anxiety while on a road trip. All around great stay.
