If there were more than five stars for a hotel, the Sans Souci in Vienna would receive it. Not only is it beautifully appointed and perfectly located, the included breakfast is beyond compare (Laurent Perrier champagne!) But the most remarkable aspect of this elegant gem, just off the Ringtrasse, is the attentive staff. They handled our every wish. We arrived in Vienna with no schedule, and no plans, but asked them to orchestrate a three day adventure for us. Immediately they procured third row seats to the Opera, a personalized Vienna historical and cultural overview tour of all the important sites and gardens, a horse drawn carriage ride enhanced with more champagne, and dinner reservations at three varied and exquisite restaurants. (To some people, a horse drawn carriage ride might be hokey, but I highly recommend this for Vienna as it allows you to absorb the architectural beauty of Vienna at a slower pace. The guides are very knowledgeable as well.) One night happened to be our anniversary, and they arranged for a bouquet of flowers to be waiting at the restaurant to mark the special occasion. Also, I must tell you about the one episode that blew my mind: we left/forgot our opera tickets in the room, and only discovered this at dinner shortly before curtain call. The staff at the front desk, especially Annika, was able to find the tickets in my room, scan and then email them to me. It would have been impossible for me to hail a taxi, get back to the hotel, grab the tickets, and make the opera on time. it was outstanding customer service, and Annika, Ulrich, Peter, and really the entire staff is to be commended.
I also especially loved the coffee service which arrived almost as I hung up the phone requesting it!. Thank you, Hotel Sans Souci, we now feel like we have discovered the perfect way to experience Vienna, and you were responsible for it.
