I have stayed at this hotel for over 40 days and have had an excellent experience. All the staff have provided me with exceptional service and have made my stay considerably easier – especially since we were able to communicate in English :) The rooms are comfortable and the location is very convenient, with easy access to the metro, buses, restaurants, bars, and other nearby services. The hotel maintains a quiet atmosphere and offers excellent value for money.

Check-In Experience|We arrived at the hotel around 12pm after an early morning of travel. From the moment we entered, there was a noticeable smell of damp throughout the property. We were informed that our rooms were not yet ready, and we asked if there was anywhere we could shower or freshen up. We were told to use the basement toilets (where there was no shower), which was not a viable option due to our heavy suitcases and the multiple flights of stairs. As a result, we were forced to get changed in the hotel lobby — an experience that felt undignified and extremely uncomfortable.|To add to this, after we had changed in the lobby, we were told by another staff member that one of our rooms had been ready the entire time. This meant we had dressed in the lobby unnecessarily. During this time, one staff member in the lobby had a strong and unpleasant body odour, which made us feel sick.|Room Issues|I had paid extra for an upgraded room, but what we received did not reflect this in any way as the second room was exactly the same. Upon receiving our key card, we were told to carry our luggage up two flights of spiral stairs, with no offer of help from staff. This was not only exhausting but also unsafe, and it took us nearly 20 minutes. The carpet on the stairs was dirty, worn, and smelled unpleasant.|The room itself was very small, dark, and had a strong old damp smell. It felt unclean and uninviting. The following issues were noted:| |No mirror in the main room, and no nearby sockets to use hair styling tools. Along with no full length mirror in the hotel at all.|There were holes in the carpet in the room itself, adding to the sense of poor maintenance and neglect.|The only mirror available was in the bathroom, which steamed up quickly and took a long time to clear.|The toilet was positioned awkwardly, making it uncomfortable for anyone taller than 5'6" to sit on it without their knees touching the wall.|No bathroom storage, so we had to live out of our suitcases.|I requested additional hangers at check-in and again later that day, only to be told eventually that none were available.|The “upgraded” room was no different from our friends’ standard room, except ours had twin beds instead of a double — no added value despite the extra charge.|Shower sprayed water in all directions due to the shower head not being cleaned.|The shower had a leak and caused flooding in the bathroom.|Towels left for replacement came back smelling damp, with makeup stains, creases, and did not seem freshly laundered.|Toilet roll was not replaced on our second morning.|We encountered spiders in the room, which further questioned the cleanliness.|I wiped the main door handles with disinfectant wipes and found them covered in dirt.|We could see the air was dusty when the AC and reading light were on, raising hygiene concerns.|Additional Concerns|Walls were very thin; we could hear music and early morning noise from neighbouring rooms, making restful sleep difficult. I was woken very early morning every day to them leaving their room.|One afternoon, my friend went to reception to ask for water and found a staff member asleep at the desk, with a pillow on the counter.|The area surrounding the hotel did not feel safe, especially when returning late in the evening.|On our final morning, I discovered old dried blood on the bottom of the bed while checking for any belongings before departure.|Once again, we were required to carry our heavy bags down two flights of spiral stairs, with no assistance offered.|Overall we did not find the staff very friendly or inviting.|Health Impact|Since returning home, I have been unwell with a sore throat and congestion. I strongly suspect this is related to the conditions in the hotel. I’ve had to take time off work as a result, which is deeply frustrating.

Had the best stay for our first time in Paris. The rooms are pretty tiny but that seems to be normal for Paris. Clean, modern, and up to date. A 2 minute walk from the nearest metro station, so getting anywhere in the city was a breeze. Would stay here again without any hesitation!

very nice staff and clean rooms! the metro line 11 is nearby. if you are sensitive to sound, you better pack some noise cancelling headphones, because the rooms are not that sound proof. again, thank you so much for your great service!!

Great location and personnel. However my room’s carpet was humid and a terrible odor I immediately noticed was coming out it. I requested a room change 10 min later, unfortunately staff couldn’t change my room because of the sole fact that I used the room’s soap and told me that moving you is literally impossible. (When we could’ve switched soaps between the two rooms If that was the main issue…) Breakfast was okay !

Very conveniently situated hotel. Not spotless (some dust and carpets could have done with more careful hoovering) but comfortable. Fabulous shower with great pressure (a consideration for washing long hair!). Comfortable bed and pillows, good quality towels. ||Only French speaking channels with no English subtitles but this mattered little to us as we were out and about a lot.||There is a lift to all floors - but it is very small and a tight squeeze even for 3 people.||We booked 2 rooms, one superior and one classic. Unfortunately our specific request to ensure the superior was allocated to the couple - not the single person - went ignored, so when we realised the mix up we needed to swap rooms (purely on the principle the couple had paid more for the superior room). Actually though, the superior room was only marginally bigger and was at the front, which was much, much noisier outside (Light sleepers should consider ear plugs).||There are no hot drink facilities in the room (only cold drinks from the mini bar). We had one very helpful night receptionist (Saturday) show us where to get some hot water to take up to our rooms (including China cups) and the next morning (Sunday) a day receptionist who responded to my request to purchase 3 coffees to take to our rooms by telling me they didn’t have suitable cups to take to the rooms. So instead, I walked to a local restaurant to purchase 3 takeaway coffees. ||Worth noting that the thermostat in both rooms did nothing at all and was stuck on 20, even if you tried to change it. ||Overall, it was conveniently situated but I do not feel comfortable with how much we paid and, as it is likely we will be frequenting that area again, I would look for an Airbnb next time - if anything, just to guarantee access to a kettle! 😆

Hôtel Scarlett had very nice, modern rooms that were very clean and well-attended. The staff was very friendly and bilingual in French and English. I was very impressed with the hotel. Hôtel Scarlett is located just steps from the Rue de Belleville. The Parc de Belleville is 5 minutes away and the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont is 10 minutes away. Belleville is a vibrant, diverse neighborhood that is a wonderful experience. Belleville is famous for its street art and small cafés. If you want monuments, the Pyréneés metro station is a 5-minute walk. It took me 10 minutes to reach Notre Dame and 25 minutes to reach the Trocadéro plaza.

Superb 3-star hotel nearby tube (2 stations) and Gare du Nord (30 mins walk). We stayed here for 6 nights to enjoy Paris. The rooms are superb, bed very comfy and a fine bathroom/shower. Very clean. For a supplement you van enjoy breakfast at the hotel. The staff are superb and help you with any query you might have. In the surrounding streets plenty of restaurants to choose from, supermarket and boulangerie also nearby. Would definately recommend this hotel for a stay in Paris!

Yelp
I've had the best stay here!! The hotel is clean, hip and cozy. This is a beautiful and elegant boutique hotel in Belleville. Within this area you can find lots of bars and a few blocks over you'll find some hippy cafes and bakeries with delicious pastries and sandwiches . You can also find a lot of Cantonese and Indian food. This hotel Is well situated, the rooms are small yet stylish and the bed is very comfortable. We stayed in room 704 (I think lol 1st floor) which was well appointed with a mini bar, safe and shower in bathroom. The staff is attentive and very professional yet open and friendly, making you feel just like a friend visiting. Although our flight back home was 8pm, we checked out normal timing (before 12pm). They were still able to hold out luggages while we did our last min shopping. Somba and The lady with the short hair style, (I loved her) I'm mad with myself that I can't remember her name because she was sooooo sweet and very kind, attentive and friendly. This location is not a big tourist area which for me was GREAT because I got to get the real feel of Paris and the diversity that I love. There are metro stations and buses just steps away that take you right into the city in LESS than 15 mins. I myself plan to travel back to Paris feb2017 and will be back at hotel Scarlett. I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Paris. #jamaican #newyorkgirls

Yelp
I am in France for the 1st time and I rolled the dice and booked this hotel in the 19th Arr. Wow! I love it here. It is a very cool area with lots to offer. It is on a hill! So keep that in mind when you think about walking to this neighborhood with luggage. It's a great workout tho. There are a number of amazing restaurants down the street so take your pic. The patisseries around the corner will satisfy your sweets cravings every morning. A few short blocks from the metro and the 26 bus that will take you to the Gare Nord (high speed rail to England). The room was so nice. The nicest I've had in France on my budget. Everything I needed was supplied. The staff was wonderful. Multilingual and helpful. I can't wait to come back.
