"Vincent Deforce is a fan of the island of Mauritius, from whence he brings back ideas, ingredients and spices that he cleverly mixes with Savoie produce, creating inventive, attractive dishes. Rich in colour, Savoie saffron rubs shoulders with island chilis, marlin and octopus are mixed with sarrazin crozets (local pasta) and zander from Lake Geneva, without forgetting the delicious tartiflette of sweet potatoes and slow-roasted pork – unforgettable!" - Michelin Inspector

Au Cœur du Village (La Clusaz, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The spectacular and relatively quiet Savoyard mountain town of La Clusaz is home to a hotel with the humble name Au Cœur du Village. Here, hidden behind a subdued (but handsome) Alpine-lodge façade, is a luxurious and stylish 60-room hotel complete with an expansive crystal-themed spa and a well-equipped ski shop. The rooms and suites are equal parts Alpine warmth and modern chic, decorated with works by the local artist Ludovic Di Orio. Among the attractions are two restaurants, the gourmet La Cœur and the gastronomic Le Cin5, as well as a stylish bar for après-ski or late-night cocktails." - Tablet Hotels

A great experience end to end. Great services and very helpful staff that can take care everything for guest. Ski pass, ski lessons, restaurant bookings, transfers etc. Location is just an easy 2 mins walk to the main lifts. Rooms are spacious modern and clean, breakfast is excellent. A real 5 star experience. Only downside the pool temperature which is relatively low.

We were a group of 6 friends staying at the hotel from Thursday noon till Sunday noon. Although a very nice hotel, it's true that, as some other negative reviews here point out, the wow-factor you would expect from a 5 star hotel/relais&chateau is missing. But this is not necessarily bad and makes it more a "chill" hotel than a posh hotel. Staff has been super friendly and helpful, in contradiction to other comments I have read here. We only had breakfasts as meals. There is a nice choice of fresh products. What I missed was a green salad or some fresh vegetables. Also for basic omelet, poached eggs and so you have to pay extra, which i think is not to expect from a 5star hotel. The pool, hammam and sauna were clean and nice. We had double rooms ( mine was 213-214) which was verry spacious. I think I could have been happy and comfortable with just half of it. All by all I feel it was value for money and the skiresort is verry nice and perfect for family holidays.

The good:||- location in heart of la Clusaz, steps away from the main square, restaurants and 2 ski lifts.|- ski location on hand + locker.|- very friendly & helpful staff.||The less good/bad:||- overly expensive for drinks and dinner. EUR12+ for a glass of wine at the bar, and dinner for 2 at EUR200, for 2 starters, raclette & wine is too expensive relative to the town and location, even for a 5* establishment. We were expecting to pay more, but we could have had the same meal & quality in a local restaurant for half the price which left a bitter taste. (we dined at the bistro not the michelin restaurant which had no availability).|- breakfast was disappointing, a good selection of cheeses and breads, but we would have expected at least a small a la carte selection available for order, but it was all buffet, even the hot food. |- 1700 check-in time (!). This is the latest check-in time I have come across in all my travels. Luckily our room was not occupied so we were able to have it as from 1400, otherwise we find 1700 excessively late, especially if you have arrived earlier, done some skiing, with kids and family, and need to hang around for hours waiting for the room to finally be ready. Furthermore, checkout is 12:00, so the hotel considers 5 hours to turn around which is unheard of.|- towel racks in the room did not warm up (we had 2 bathrooms and in neither, and we could not find any switch), which is not acceptable for a hotel in a ski area and with a spa.|- we called reception for water one morning in order to take daily medication, and nobody bothered to arrive.|- spa was disappointing - the pool area is dark, there is limited lounger chairs, and the water in the pool is not 30 heated as advertised, in fact we found it quite cold. In addition, there were 7-8 small kids jumping around, diving, splashing, and make it unusable for other guests, with parents not reacting and no rules around the pool or supervision from staff, so this facility for us was completely unusable.||All in all, this hotel tries too hard to be a 5* establishment, but ultimately comes short, especially in the location it is. It charges 5* prices, which we were more than happy to experience, but it then falls short in fully justifying them, leaving a disappointing feeling of being short-changed.

We stayed for 3 nights at the hotel in the middle of March 2024. As it has not been a great ski season snow wise i think that was part of the reason the hotel was probably about half full at the most. It is in a great location and the staff on the desk dealt with the check in quickly. We ate in the hotel on the first night in the Coeur restaurant, it is the same area as breakfast and does lack a little atmosphere for an evening meal as less than half full. The food however was excellent as was the service ( the only criticism would be the wine list was quite overpriced for the wines offered). Breakfast was ok and had decent variety, however i do feel for a 5 star hotel they should be offering eggs, omelettes and cooked items as part of the breakfast as opposed to an additional charge. Having stayed in 4 other ski hotels in the past 2 seasons ( none of which were 5 star), this was always included. The Room although small was very nicely appointed and only let down by the shower which was somewhat underpowered. The SPA area is very nice with a lovely pool, although the jacuzzi is within the pool area so not a warm jacuzzi. The Sauna was lovely but the gym is limited with just two running machines. The only disappointing decision by the front desk was not to extend our room checkout by more than an hour on departure. The hotel was clearly not remotely full at all but they stated it was going to be used that evening. I honestly believe any new guest could have been put into a different room as an extra hour would have made a big difference in terms of extending our ski morning. Overall we were impressed and do like La Clusaz ( although they really do need to upgrade the ski infrastructure which is very outdated now). There are some excellent restaurants in the lovely town.

I thought the hotel was very nice on the whole. The rooms and spacious and clean, the breakfast is of good quality. The massages and treatments in the Cinq Mondes area are fantastic. Overall i would recommend strongly.||I have a couple of remarks on the spa which is a bit noisy when i gets busy, the jaccuzi in part of the pool and therefore not very relaxing because it is cold. The staff is well meaning but young and inexperienced in the world of luxury. The concierge is not very helpfull. ||I would say the hotel is a strong 4 star, not a 5 star.

I wanted to share some feedback from my recent stay. While the location for skiing was fantastic and one dinner was excellent, I was disappointed with the overall experience compared to previous years. The breakfast quality was not up to par, and I found some staff to be uninformed and occasionally rude. In the future, I may explore other hotels further from the slopes that offer better service and food quality. It's regrettable to say that Au Coeur du Village seems to have lost some of its charm

Great hotel - 2nd visit in 2 years still as good. Great for skiers and non skiers alike. great food and staff - very comfortable - fabulous pool and sauna. just across the road from the slopes. great shops if you are not into skiing. Has its own boot room next to the hotel for ski hire and storage.
