Hotel – Spa – Restaurant Sonnenhof Lautenbach

Really great hotel! The room was big and comfortable with very nice and big balcony and view . Breakfast was with many choices and was fresh & tasty .There was always a parking space available when we got back at the evening . Also the stuff , very attentive and always helpful. The surroundings are beautiful and serene which really added to the experience. For some reason there were few issues with maintenance but everything was handled by the stuff very quickly even on Sunday. Main issue - we were not aware of hotel cleaning and changing towels policy so not so nice surprise but it also was handled very quickly and with great stuff attitude . The restaurant below was not so good and the kitchen closed early , but I guess it's custom in this area .

We stayed here. Staff especially the woman with the glasses that worked the front desk has a stick up her you know what. Rude and nasty. Our room smelled of sewer gas the two nights we stayed. The worst experience was our dinner. Made reservations for my wife and I, our anniversary dinner. I ordered steak she ordered fish with potatoes. My steak came and it was mostly gristle 15 minutes later her fish arrived! When it did arrive the fish was terrible looking the potatoes hard as a rock. We sent it back and it came back 10 minutes later so overheated in a microwave that the fish had been disintegrated and the potatoes mush. Needless to say we didnt enjoy it and after excuses our dinner and me not finishing the steak we asked to send it back and decline this terrible meal. The woman from the front deak with the glasses was now irrate and ran in the kitchen and came back 2 minutes later stating that she tastes all our food and it was perfect. She refused to credit the food and we ended up paying well over 100 euros for a horrible dining experience on our anniversary only to return to our sewer smelling room. We wont be back and we wont recommend this place. It was clean and beautiful but that isnt enough. We still talk about this horrible day 1 year later .

It was a great stay! Spacious rooms with everything you need. The only drawback: very uncomfortable pillows.. They provide bathrobes, towels and bags for spa and swimming pool. They can provide you an extra bed for a kid, and even a bathrobe for a kid to go to the swimming pool! It was such a great surprise. Excellent soundproofing. Spacious parking. Pay attention and make a reservation at the restaurant for dinner otherwise it might be full. So we ended up ordering some food from outside and eating dinner at the breakfast area having drinks from the bar - we are so happy they gave us this possibility to use that area. They book you a table for breakfast if you have breakfast included, so if you travel with friends and want to sit together, just let them know beforehand. Don’t hesitate to ask for late check out, at least +1 h free can be arranged. Swimming pool and spa area is great with everything you need, with pleasant temperature even in winter. We really loved our stay at this place! Highly recommended!

We stayed at the Sonnenhof Hotel & Spa for 8 days as a family of five and had a truly wonderful experience. We booked two rooms with a connecting door, which made our stay very comfortable. The hotel is super clean and quiet, offering a peaceful retreat.||The location is fantastic! Lautenbach is a beautiful, picturesque town, surrounded by the stunning nature of the Black Forest. It’s an ideal base for exploring the region’s top attractions. The Black Forest National Park is about a 30-minute drive away, and other highlights like the famous Triberg Waterfalls are around an hour’s drive.||We also visited Europa Park, which is less than an hour away and perfect for a fun-filled family day. Freiburg, with its charming old town, is only a little over an hour’s drive, and even Strasbourg in France is just 45 minutes away—ideal for a day trip!||The staff were exceptionally nice and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. Breakfast was fabulous every morning with a wide variety of delicious options. The spa was a highlight for us, especially the hot tub, which was great fun and a perfect way to relax.||There’s plenty of parking available, which made things very convenient for us. If you’re looking for a relaxing, family-friendly hotel with excellent amenities, in a beautiful location, I highly recommend Sonnenhof Hotel & Spa!||Thanks from the Kafri family, and we’re already planning to come back again!

Didn't live up to my expectations When you are paying a premium price for a hotel, you expect the same level of service in return with no reasons to complain. For me, I had multiple issues during my stay. Air Conditioning: Not enough to cool the room during hot sunny days. Even after keeping it on at 17 deg C for 4-5 hours, it feels as is there's no AC. When complained to the staff they tried to convince us that there was no problem and they can't do anything about it. Bathroom: Normally the showers have 2 knobs, one for the temperature control and the second for the speed/flow of the water. At Sonnenhof's shower there's no knob to control the flow of water. The water comes out at full force and you literally struggle during the bath. Again the staff doesn't care to acknowledge the problem in first palace. Bedding: The beds have rollers under them and the bed keeps moving since there is no way to stop the roller from moving. Will not recommend this place for a premium stay experience.

We enjoyed our stay here, appreciating the quiet and calm ambiance and the nice views from our room. The spa was lovely and so was the restaurant. Special thanks to the welcoming Barbara at the reception, who made our stay even more enjoyable.

The hotel restaurant claims to be open until 9 PM, but when I arrived at 8:55 PM, they refused to seat me, stating they were no longer accepting guests. This was both frustrating and misleading. As someone familiar with German punctuality, 9 PM should mean exactly that—not 8:55 PM. The elevator clearly states that the restaurant is open until 9 PM, so there’s no valid reason to turn guests away early. If they have an earlier cutoff, they should clearly communicate it. This level of service is disappointing and unacceptable. I will never return. Update: After the unprofessional reply from the hotel I’m just updating to one star. I have 500+ contributions and can easily spot a bad customer service.

The hotel is small but has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Spacious rooms with a balcony. The spa is very good too. They have the option of wearing a swimsuit.||The cleaning service is very friendly. And most importantly, the hotel management helped us with the shipment of belongings that we left forgotten.
