We are from Chicago and this was our first time in Poland and Krakow and did not know what to expect with our travels here. The hotel was really great - on par with any very nice European hotel or high-end hotel. The location was ideal for walking around, access to the main square, shopping, bars and restaurants nearby, also providing easy walking access to areas around the city that were not in the old town. The rooms were very nicely renovated, each a unique conversion of the older building and very spacious. The service was excellent as well. I would highly recommend this hotel.

An absolutely magical hotel. The design is so unique and beautiful. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. Breakfast was delicious and is worth the extra spend. A few key highlights: - The rooftop bar with gorgeous views and fantastic (but pricey) cocktails. - The spa area is absolutely perfect for relaxing and recovering after long days of walking and exploring. The powerful jets in the pool were a great option when time for a massage wasn't available. - The restaurant in the lobby, 3 Rybki is stunning. We did the 6-course tasting and were blown away. Even if you don't stay in the hotel, the restaurant is worth a stop. If you are a guest, it's one of the few hotel restaurants that warrants staying on the premises for the evening.

Very clean and kept well. Great common areas to socialize. Breakfast was phenomenal, definitely recommend getting the included breakfast. Spa was relaxing and quiet. We had an after party for a wedding on the rooftop and the food and service were amazing.

This place is the best. It is centrally located, with a great pool, decent gym, and an outstanding rooftop bar that is great during the day and majestic at night. Like many businesses, however, this place stands out because of its staff. Norbert is the man. He booked all my desired trips in short periods and communicated the status and logistics of these trips with direct precision. Amelia and Mateo are a great bartender/server dynamic duo. The maid (don't remember her name because I don't speak Polish) communicated with me via lively hand signs and left little chocolates and notes in Polish (positive vibes). If you truly want a great experience and a homey feeling while abroad, please consider staying here-the staff does accommodate all your needs. Thank you for a great trip.

Loved our stay here. Perfect location surrounded by many restaurants around the corner of the square. Nice amenities, comfortable beds. Staff was friendly and helpful. They were glad to pack up a breakfast to go when we had an early excursion. Would highly recommend!

I loved this hotel. So charming. And rooms are huge! The rooms have stone/brick walls and so many beautiful wood elements. The bathroom is good sized. I wish the toiletries were full sized instead of the tiny disposable bottles. Towels were nice and large. The bed was comfortable but a second set of pillows would have been nice. The desk is great sized. The downer is the WiFi is not great in the rooms (I am guessing due to the thick walls). But it’s great down in the lobby/bar area. ||The pool and spa area is a nice surprise! There is a wet and dry sauna and the pool is beautiful (with nice jets in the back section). ||The location is great very close to tons of restaurants and the historic old town/main square. The team working was always helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay at Hotel Stary again on my next visit.

Excellent hotel. It was beautifully renovated from a historical building. It has a very nice atrium and lots of amenities like a swimming pool and a roof deck bar with a nice view towards the town Square. This is not an expensive hotel for the area. In fact, the rates are half the rate of the Hilton affiliate one block away that lane of the amenities of the Stary. Having had rooms in both, I strongly recommend Hotel Stary. The restaurant and room service are both very good and the staff was invariably nice.

Yelp
"There are places where time takes on a completely different dimension. There are hotels where the exceptional atmosphere and attention to guests will make you feel truly special." - A quote from Hotel Stary's English language website This review is for a three night stay. As Jason G. mentioned, this property is in a great location, in the vicinity of Kraków's central square, and within walking distance to the best Kraków has to offer. I have to give kudos the architect that re-designed and modernized a 14th century tenement into a modern hotel. This property is exquisite and worth every dollar I spent. I decided to stay at this property because a friend and his wife held their wedding reception here. The hotel staff was very accommodating and the food was tasty for the reception. If you are Polish-American, and want to marry a Pole, pick this hotel for your destination wedding. Moving on... Regular dinner service was average. Service was exceptional, but the food was average. I truly believe the chef is heading on the right path, his restaurant will do well in the next couple of years, and will continue to be mentioned in the Michelin Guide. However, everyone has their own palette and you can judge for yourself. My only advice is that you stay away from the beef. The spa is in interesting place because the reception staff double as the masseuses. If they are fully booked, then you should contact the front desk for assistance so you can obtain a locker key, towels, etc. Also, a friggin pool in a basement! So awesome! The picture I posted does not illustrate how cool and unique this facility truly is. Overall, the spa is dark, but very peaceful and relaxing. The amenities are top notch and the spa treatment I paid for was, in the words of Charlie Sheen, "winning". The best damn massage I have ever paid for, EVER. Better than Vegas and definitely better than Hawaii. Moving back to the room...I really appreciate how the architect integrated a 14th century design, with 16th, 17th and 18th century modifications, and turned it in to a modern, 21st century hotel. The bathroom pictures posted by Jason G. do not illustrate all that is offered. Fully stocked toiletries are included and the marble floors are heated. However, the property should be more vigilant, and ensure that their WiFi speed is increased, and that all televisions work properly. Finally, you may have read reviews about this hotel being too loud. My advice, make some friends, drink socially, embrace the culture, and have a good time. Or, stay up all night during a Polish wedding reception. Either way, I am confident that you will sleep very well after a good night enjoying all that Kraków has to offer. 4.6/5 - Definitely staying at this property when I visit Kraków again. (P.S. - Room service is NOT 24/7. There are no ice machines that I could locate, but if you catch a hotel employee in a good mood, they will provide you with ice in a champagne bucket. Also, there is a convenience store within a couple of blocks where you can purchase snacks and beverages.)

Yelp
My partner and I stayed at Hotel Stary for three nights in a Junior suite, and overall, this hotel has a great location and the aesthetic value of the design is some of the best it ever stayed in. This hotel is almost an oasis off the main square. Everything is new and modern and sleek. Our room was a Junior suite, and I would describe the room as "sumptuous." Gorgeous marble in the bathroom with one of the most intense showers I've ever used. You can see the design elements that went into the entire hotel and hotel, and all their interior design awards can be found throughout the hotel. However, sometimes interior design doesn't mesh well with functionality. While the shower was gorgeous, when you used it, basically the entire bathroom got wet. I felt bad for the housekeeper. The bed itself was very comfortable. I really liked the location of Hotel Stary. Right off the main square, and walkable to so many great restaurants and bars in the area. The service here left a little bit to be desired. While they did fulfill my basic requests like getting a bellman or bringing milk for coffee, they didn't really go above and beyond to try to anticipate what their guests wants. The bellboy, Bart, was very helpful, I would say. Overall, I wavered between four and five stars for this review. At the end of the day, the uniqueness of this hotel compared with any random chain hotel was very high, and so was a very memorable and pleasant stay even though there were a few hiccups.

Yelp
The air conditioning did not work and the room phone did not work. Every day we had to get new key cards because the electronic door lock kept resetting. The staff seemed unconcerned. While the hotel is spectacular and a great location the indifference of some of the staff was disappointing.

Yelp
This is a beautiful menu and the service is the best in Poland. Went there for New Year's Eve and we went for the venue and the company we were with. The dinner was paced perfectly to the evening. The theme for the night was Tokyo and the food was delicious. There was live music and dancing. The rooftop bar at midnight was spectacular. The restaurant manager, Tomasz, was friendly and helpful. The wait staff were polite and professional. It was as close to perfect as you could get.

Yelp
I had to star this down for their truly terrible customer service. The hotel itself is beautiful and built into a medieval building which makes for a lovely atmosphere but sadly the rooms have been done more with design than with function in mind. We could hear every movement from the rooms above so if you want to sleep in, not a good choice. Our bathroom was gorgeous with a huge tub and a large rainwater shower...with only two walls and a very shallow "basin" meaning the bathroom got drenched every time we used it. The real problem was the attitude of the staff, though. On booking they offered pickup service from the airport - perfect, I gave our arrival time and flight number thinking surely if they ask for the flight number they would check for delays (which are frequent, after all, and happened in our case). Wrong - no pickup on arrival, which would not have been a big deal but when I called to ask I a) had to call twice as the callback I was promised never happened and b) I was blamed for giving the wrong arrival time. Prepayment for the hotel was taken in full which I'm fine with, but when we left we were charged in full again. I found this out on the way to the airport, called and was told the first booking was a security deposit to be released later. Again I am fine with security deposits but usually we are talking a couple hundred euro at most, not the full booking (€ 660 in our case). The money was booked back the same evening (after I asked for it) but took almost a full week to be released to my account...and again the attitude from the side of the hotel was pretty much "standard procedure, your problem for not knowing this". As for breakfast, we only went once and were not served. The buffet is fine and yes, we came down late, but we saw other guests being served who arrived later. Again, beautiful place - if the only problem had been the noise I would have given it four or even five stars but the staff really ruined this one for me.

Yelp
Very lovely place with huge rooms and the giant tub and shower were fantastic. The have a nice pool in the cellar also offering massages. With all this it unfortunate that I wont be staying here on my next trip due to one major flaw, the place is too loud. The whole hotel is made if fantastic stonework and wood floors that echo every noise made down the halls and into the room. We were woken up way early in the morning over and over again from people talking, walking, televisions, and at one point what sounded like hammering. The place is great but the main reason I stay somewhere is to sleep at night which I got very little of here.
