Stay in Style: Discover Poland’s Best Hotels Where Design Meets History

"In Krakow's historic fabric I experienced a respectful adaptation of a 14th‑century townhouse where 17th‑century frescoes survive in some apartments and contemporary design blends with preserved architectural elements; the restoration completed at the end of the last century earned the hotel the Prix Villégiature for Best Hotel Interior Design in Europe, and an atmospheric spa hidden in medieval cellars—complete with saunas and a pool beneath brick vaults—provides a memorable place to relax." - Le Guide MICHELIN

Stary Hotel (Krakow, Poland) 7 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We’ll spare you the comparisons with Prague and simply say that Krakow combines picturesque good looks with affordability and livability in the manner of the best Eastern European destinations. And Hotel Stary is the kind of hotel you expect to see a bit later in a city’s tourism development — not that we’re complaining. Right in the heart of the old town, this centuries-old apartment house has been given the full boutique-luxury treatment, its grand old rooms converted into fifty-three bedrooms and suites." - Tablet Hotels

Just got back from a 2 night stay in krakow. This hotel is absolutely stunning! The rooms are beautiful, big and clean. The hotel is just so gorgeous and the staff were lovely. The hotel is prime location just off the square where every thing is. When I come back I will return to this hotel. Go to Piwnica Pod Baranami bar it’s so quirky and cosy we stayed in there hours and made our way through the drinks menu! Morskie oko is a restaurant I’d highly recommend the food was just gorgeous and the potato dumplings are a must! You need to book before as it’s extremely busy. Lovely weekend, krakow has a piece of my ❤️

We loved our stay here. The location is perfect. The hotel beautiful. Loved the acqua de palma toiletries. A couple of critiques would be. A coffee machine in the room would be an added bonus and the spa areas a little warmer. The bar area is lovely as is the rest of the hotel. We’d certainly stay here again 😊

Went for my girlfriends birthday. Reception staff extremely helpful via email in organsing a particular suite I wanted and trips to Auschwitz and the salt mines. Both essential things to do btw.|We also had a dental emergency the night before we flew out. I emailed the hotel to ask about dentists in Krakow and when we landed the next morning an appointment had been made fot that day! Amazing!!|The hotel is gorgeous. Right on the square and seconds away from all the restauants and bars. Some gret cellar bars there (Harris Piano Bar for great music).|The suite was amazing. So big and a massive bathroom with enormous bath and walk through shower. Most comfortable bed in the world.|The basement spa is also special. We had a couples massage on our last day. Highly recommended.|I cannot praise the hotel enough.

Google
A very boutique hotel with a unique sense of style. Subtle modern architectural elements are blended into an old structure, creating a Roman bath inspired atmosphere with moody lighting. The room design is also very stylish, especially the ceiling. As for the location, I hardly need to mention how close it is to Rynek Główny, literally just 20 steps away. Everything, including the service and the sauna, was excellent. The only minor issue I noticed was that the bathtub and bathroom floor can be a bit slippery, so some care is needed when stepping out. Other than that, I very much enjoyed my stay.

Google
First time visiting Krakow and we were glad we chose this hotel. The location is near the old town and only a stones throw from the main square with all its bars and restaurants.|The room we had was very large with a fridge and drinks available, at a cost. It was nicely decorated with a mix of nouvelle design along with antique furniture which gave the room a very pleasant ambiance. We were located on the 5th floor and found it very quiet.|The hotel also had a swimming pool in the basement along with a sauna, steam room and gym. There was also a relaxation area and a salt room.|Please note it does say a gym but this is a small area with a couple of weight machines, treadmills and bikes.|We would recommend this hotel highly if visiting Krakow.

We stayed only one night and wished our stay was longer. The hotel is right off the city’s main square that hosted the cities largest Christmas fair that was a delight. ||The structure itself was a fantastic mix of old modern with limestone, brick and weathered wood mixed with glass and polished steel. The rooms were carefully designed and appointed with deep soaking tubs, modern conveniences, but retained touches of stone, plaster old wood to remind us of place and history. ||I bungled the reservation so it could not be found when we checked in. Instead of the more typical dismissal by reception, we experienced the opposite, and not because the hotel needed to fill rooms. Her concern went beyond finding us a room to assuring that we were not double-charged via a pre-paid booking. We did track it down and found the source of my error. ||I’d stay there again without question and look forward to our next opportunity to be in Krakow. ||As with all glowing recommendations, this one is posted with a single reservations, that it is fully booked when we come back.

Google
We had the most amazing time at Hotel Stary right before Christmas time. The hotel is located right in the center of the old town walking distance to all the sightseeing spots. The hotel is clean, staff very welcoming, rooms are comfortable and food options are great for everyone. We absolutely enjoyed our time there and definitely will be looking forward to coming back when we visit krakow again

Yelp
The rooftop bar here is amazing. Not only do they have a great wine and cocktail list, but the service is impeccable. Plus, hard to beat the views. Strongly recommend

Yelp
The staff was so helpful and nice. The room was huge and we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. I wouldn't recommend the breakfast necessarily. It was very expensive for what it was but other than that I recommend the hotel high.

Yelp
"There are places where time takes on a completely different dimension. There are hotels where the exceptional atmosphere and attention to guests will make you feel truly special." - A quote from Hotel Stary's English language website This review is for a three night stay. As Jason G. mentioned, this property is in a great location, in the vicinity of Kraków's central square, and within walking distance to the best Kraków has to offer. I have to give kudos the architect that re-designed and modernized a 14th century tenement into a modern hotel. This property is exquisite and worth every dollar I spent. I decided to stay at this property because a friend and his wife held their wedding reception here. The hotel staff was very accommodating and the food was tasty for the reception. If you are Polish-American, and want to marry a Pole, pick this hotel for your destination wedding. Moving on... Regular dinner service was average. Service was exceptional, but the food was average. I truly believe the chef is heading on the right path, his restaurant will do well in the next couple of years, and will continue to be mentioned in the Michelin Guide. However, everyone has their own palette and you can judge for yourself. My only advice is that you stay away from the beef. The spa is in interesting place because the reception staff double as the masseuses. If they are fully booked, then you should contact the front desk for assistance so you can obtain a locker key, towels, etc. Also, a friggin pool in a basement! So awesome! The picture I posted does not illustrate how cool and unique this facility truly is. Overall, the spa is dark, but very peaceful and relaxing. The amenities are top notch and the spa treatment I paid for was, in the words of Charlie Sheen, "winning". The best damn massage I have ever paid for, EVER. Better than Vegas and definitely better than Hawaii. Moving back to the room...I really appreciate how the architect integrated a 14th century design, with 16th, 17th and 18th century modifications, and turned it in to a modern, 21st century hotel. The bathroom pictures posted by Jason G. do not illustrate all that is offered. Fully stocked toiletries are included and the marble floors are heated. However, the property should be more vigilant, and ensure that their WiFi speed is increased, and that all televisions work properly. Finally, you may have read reviews about this hotel being too loud. My advice, make some friends, drink socially, embrace the culture, and have a good time. Or, stay up all night during a Polish wedding reception. Either way, I am confident that you will sleep very well after a good night enjoying all that Kraków has to offer. 4.6/5 - Definitely staying at this property when I visit Kraków again. (P.S. - Room service is NOT 24/7. There are no ice machines that I could locate, but if you catch a hotel employee in a good mood, they will provide you with ice in a champagne bucket. Also, there is a convenience store within a couple of blocks where you can purchase snacks and beverages.)

Yelp
The air conditioning did not work and the room phone did not work. Every day we had to get new key cards because the electronic door lock kept resetting. The staff seemed unconcerned. While the hotel is spectacular and a great location the indifference of some of the staff was disappointing.

Yelp
I had to star this down for their truly terrible customer service. The hotel itself is beautiful and built into a medieval building which makes for a lovely atmosphere but sadly the rooms have been done more with design than with function in mind. We could hear every movement from the rooms above so if you want to sleep in, not a good choice. Our bathroom was gorgeous with a huge tub and a large rainwater shower...with only two walls and a very shallow "basin" meaning the bathroom got drenched every time we used it. The real problem was the attitude of the staff, though. On booking they offered pickup service from the airport - perfect, I gave our arrival time and flight number thinking surely if they ask for the flight number they would check for delays (which are frequent, after all, and happened in our case). Wrong - no pickup on arrival, which would not have been a big deal but when I called to ask I a) had to call twice as the callback I was promised never happened and b) I was blamed for giving the wrong arrival time. Prepayment for the hotel was taken in full which I'm fine with, but when we left we were charged in full again. I found this out on the way to the airport, called and was told the first booking was a security deposit to be released later. Again I am fine with security deposits but usually we are talking a couple hundred euro at most, not the full booking (€ 660 in our case). The money was booked back the same evening (after I asked for it) but took almost a full week to be released to my account...and again the attitude from the side of the hotel was pretty much "standard procedure, your problem for not knowing this". As for breakfast, we only went once and were not served. The buffet is fine and yes, we came down late, but we saw other guests being served who arrived later. Again, beautiful place - if the only problem had been the noise I would have given it four or even five stars but the staff really ruined this one for me.

Yelp
This is a beautiful menu and the service is the best in Poland. Went there for New Year's Eve and we went for the venue and the company we were with. The dinner was paced perfectly to the evening. The theme for the night was Tokyo and the food was delicious. There was live music and dancing. The rooftop bar at midnight was spectacular. The restaurant manager, Tomasz, was friendly and helpful. The wait staff were polite and professional. It was as close to perfect as you could get.

Yelp
Very lovely place with huge rooms and the giant tub and shower were fantastic. The have a nice pool in the cellar also offering massages. With all this it unfortunate that I wont be staying here on my next trip due to one major flaw, the place is too loud. The whole hotel is made if fantastic stonework and wood floors that echo every noise made down the halls and into the room. We were woken up way early in the morning over and over again from people talking, walking, televisions, and at one point what sounded like hammering. The place is great but the main reason I stay somewhere is to sleep at night which I got very little of here.
