Hotel Suisse | Best places to stay in Cote d'Azur

"Located at the far eastern end of Nice’s iconic Promenade des Anglais, with views over the city’s ‘Bay of Angels’, this cheerful hotel offers the chance to stay in the heart of Nice without breaking the bank. Set in a particularly picturesque row of pastel facades at the bottom of the city’s Colline du Chateau hill, rooms are airy and modern in soothing shades – and lively Old Nice, with its bars and restaurants, is within easy walking distance. One big draw is the hotel’s sweeping sea views, seen from this historic building’s many balconies: there are 38 rooms in total and 35 have sea views – traditional rooms don’t have balconies, but superior rooms and all higher categories have balconies facing magical, Matisse-like vistas of the Mediterranean. The one suite has a separate living room, balcony and terrace. Parking is available, a few minutes away; and the hotel has a special partnership with a nearby private beach club, offering discounts on sunbed rentals. " - Dana Facaros

The hotel location and view are absolutely immaculate. The hotel room and bathroom is slightly dated. But the entire hotel was clean and comfortable. I would absolutely come back and stay here again. The view and balcony was great for us. The location is perfect for walking to the beach and being right by old town. The staff were incredible and friendly. The only reason I give a 4 star is because of the rooms and bathroom, otherwise great! Parking is not on site- there is a lot about 400 meters away

Incredible view, but that’s the end of the good news. The hotel is old and not well maintained. The bathrooms are horrible both in space as well as cleanliness. The grout is coming out of the shower and the toilet is so close to the shower you can barely sit. There is an odd odor similar to sewage in both of our rooms. Hallways seem more appropriate in a hospital. The front staff are average at best and don’t seem to be willing to add to the experience. We have complained to our travel service that this hotel should not be a four star but a three star maximum. Significantly below the four star hotel we had in Paris and five star hotel we had in Avignon. All that said, the view of the Mediterranean is fantastic.

We stayed at Hotel Suisse in a Privilege Room in early September for 7 nights and have never stayed in such a clean hotel. The Breakfast Room was immaculate every morning and our hotel room on the 5th floor (Room 54)was also spotless. The rooms were cleaned every day and we received fresh towels and bed linen on a daily basis. The housekeeping in this hotel is second to none. Fragonade toiletries were provided in the bathrooms, which was a nice touch supporting local industry. Robes were also provided, although this wasn’t mentioned in the description for the Privilege rooms. The room that we had was large and comfortable for a 7 night stay, although it would have been really useful to have a mirror above the dressing table.|We booked breakfast prior to arrival and you could either take it in the Breakfast Room or have a continental breakfast in your room. We didn’t take breakfast in our room so can only comment on the full American type breakfast offered. Every morning there were various mini pastries, a muesli and cornflake type cereal on offer, along with yoghurts, fresh fruit, fruit juices and toast. The cooked breakfast offered sausages, mushrooms, hash browns, boiled eggs and sometimes scrambled eggs. It was more than sufficient to refuel every morning.|As with previous reviews, yes, the noise from the road is quite loud but too be honest, any hotel along the promenade would experience the same noise level (even the more exclusive 5 star hotels) and this needs to be weighed up against the spectacular, unbeatable view offered from the rooms! We loved sitting on the balcony, watching the world go by and listening to the waves crashing on the beach. The location of the hotel is spot on and just a few minutes from the old town, which we spent most evenings wandering around.|It is a shame that the hotel doesn’t offer evening meals but there is a huge choice in the old town and port which are both within 5 minutes walk away. We also had two fantastic meals at the hotel next door Le Perouse. There is a QR code on a welcome card in the room that has dining recommendations and other useful information but I failed to realise this until virtually the last day, so definitely worth having a heads up about this one.|To conclude, we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel and if ever we were to visit Nice again, we would most certainly return to the same hotel.

We recently stayed at Hôtel Suisse in Nice and had a wonderful experience overall. While we gave the hotel 4 stars primarily because it’s a bit dated, the charm and unbeatable location more than made up for it. Room: 4 stars The room, like the hotel itself, felt a little dated but was very clean and comfortable. Everything was well-maintained, and we appreciated the care taken with cleanliness. Service: 5 stars The service was exceptional. The bellhop went above and beyond, helping with all our luggage and personally delivering our bags to the room—a level of service we truly appreciated. Location: 5 stars The location is truly the star of the show. Hôtel Suisse offers stunning sunset views of the beach that are hard to beat. It’s perfectly situated within walking distance of Old Town, fantastic restaurants, and great shops. You really can't ask for a better spot to explore Nice on foot. Value: We felt the value was on par, especially given the amazing views and central location. You're paying for the unbeatable scenery and proximity to everything, which makes it worth it. In summary, if you value location and service, Hôtel Suisse delivers. It’s a classic, charming stay with panoramic views that you’ll remember long after check-out.

The hotel’s food delivery truck arrives around 5am right under the guestroom windows, with the refrigerated engine running the entire time. The noise is extremely loud and makes it impossible to sleep. It’s surprising that the hotel allows this to happen, given how disruptive it is. For the price and category of the hotel, guests should expect basic quiet during the night. Until this issue is fixed, I can’t recommend staying here.

The location is fantastic. However, considering the very expensive prices charged, the standard of the rooms (mold, not clean), the facilities (no lobby, breakfast restaurant extremely simple) and breakfast (any railway station would not accept that quality)! a big disappointment! Stay away!

An amazing hotel in a fantastic location. Great breakfast and excellent customer service. Special acknowledgment to Jennifer and Clement at the hospitality desk. This hotel is located next to everything. 10 minute walk from the port where you can take boats to everywhere!

This is closer to a 3-star hotel not a 4-star hotel. The furnishings and decor are very simple as shown in the pictures. We paid extra for a privilege room but were given a room on the first floor with significant noise from the street. We had switched to this hotel from a different hotel on our last day in Nice to enjoy the view from the balcony, which was nice but given the low level, it was obstructed by a tree. Overall the room was not worth the extra premium. We did not use the breakfast so I cannot comment on that.

Yelp
Visited Nice, France, with my family during thanksgiving weekend. I spent time researching the best hotel to stay and this hotel is my answer with 3 words. "VIEW, LOCATION, VIEW" The spot is perfect for the beach view and the angel for the sunset. Also, several of their room styles have a balcony, but I do recommend the privilege room which has 2 doors, longer balcony, and in higher floor. My family loves the views so much and we don't miss the sunset every day we stay. Besides that, their breakfast is worth trying as well with the option of $30 euros per person. Although, you may get a better bundle deal when booking, to me, I prefer not to for more chances to try local restaurants. The only downside is their room is tiny even, the privilege room, but the views beat everything else! Also, they don't have parking lot, but it's easy to call Uber for the ride.

Yelp
One of the best parts of our stay in Nice was this place. Our room had a balcony with the view and we got to enjoy it with some french wine. Wifi for each device and the bathroom in our room was pretty nice. The concierge was very helpful and recommended a few restaurants for us, which we thoroughly enjoyed and our girls were oogled over the entire time. The thing is, their elevator is a little small, like every European elevator, so I had to take the stairs while my husband was in there with the stroller and kids.

Yelp
Oh. The sea room view is everything and more. You get a breathtaking view of the sea and the promenade as well as some of the city. Service is wonderful, every single staff member was very helpful, kind and attentive. Breakfast was a nice touch as well- they even let us bring it upstairs to enjoy along with our view in our balcony. Will definitely be staying here on my next trip to nice.

Yelp
This is really a 3.5 star review. For what it is, this is a decent hotel. It is very Swiss--clean, just what you need, nothing more. I stayed here with a friend and it was a good thing we are so close, because we were...close. Literally. The rooms are tiny, leaving very little room for any luggage without being in the way. The elevators are also tiny. We didn't mind taking the stairs, but it meant we had to leave her competition bike in their storage. Front desk was welcoming and allowed us to change in the restroom so we could use the beach. They have an agreement with a place you can rent a chair and have some drinks. They will give you towels to take with you. They serve breakfast, but we did not try it. That is the only food served here. No snacks, lunch, dinner, or room service. Thankfully, many restaurants can be found within walking distance. However, this might not be optimal for those with children, or who have physical limitations. Personally, I would not stay here more than a night or two because the rooms were so small, and I really like room service. Pros: modern, tasteful decor excellent views location nice staff in-room coffee breakfast drinks (alcohol) Cons: very, very small rooms (even the nicer ones) small elevator only breakfast sheets were scratchy no wash cloths

Yelp
This hotel is in a fantastic location and has an incredible view. But it was a lot of money for our "deluxe room" and I wouldn't go back. We were there in July, and the little old air conditioner in our room just couldn't keep up, so the nights were too hot and muggy to get a good rest. The wifi is so terribly slow it's almost unusable, definitely won't work for Skype/FaceTime. The hosts & concierges were always very friendly & helpful. The hotel is definitely European style - the elevator is adorably small & fits either 2 people or 1 person with a suitcase. In the end, we paid quite a premium for a great view & location, but didn't feel like everything else justified the price.

Yelp
If you stay here you have to get a room with a view of the Mediterranean. beaches are right there and you can go free or rent a chair and umbrella at one of the private beaches. No pool, but really does not matter. The location can't be any better. The front desk helped with reservations too. Rooms are small but clean, and bathrooms are very newly renovated. The staff is young and helpful, but they do love their smoking breaks. ;)

Yelp
Piece of shit hotel doesn't have any sense of hospitality. There are so many better choices go somewhere else

Yelp
SUCH a good deal for a cute, clean hotel on the beach! We were staying in another hotel in more central nice, saw this one when walking along the beach, and while yes, its in vieux nice, so if you want to be right next to the casino or something, this will be a good 10 minute walk, but if you want to be on the beach and in a cuter area, this is a great place! Rooms are small but this is Nice, so where aren't they? New, clean, con is the elevator - can only fit max 2 people - and forget about getting all your bags in there at once. Also avoid doing laundry - they ship it out and charged my boyfriend 11 euro to wash a couple pairs of boxers and one pair of shorts (charged his boxers for full shorts i guess), and since they're a third party cleaner, there's no remedy. Wifi is a little annoying as they only have it in the lobby, but still would return!

Yelp
Stayed May 13-21 and got robbed by the free breakfast bill and room charges on things I did not use, emailed the hotel and no response.Would love to give this hotel more stars but I have stayed in many hotels all over the world and because you have a balcony and a view, you can't just rob your patrons. A simple response from the hotel and a correction on my bill would have satisfied me and my review would be totally different, so beware of this place. No referrals from me , sorry Hotel Suisse

Yelp
Great location near the old city and beaches. Probably the best view in all of Nice from the rooms with balconies. The hotel staff was rather surely and the bar (despite having received free cocktail coupons) never actually opened. Who cares? You are better off getting a bottle of wine and enjoying the view from your room.

Yelp
My wife and I stayed here in April of 2015. It was a very quaint and quiet hotel perfect for a relaxing vacation. Views were great and service was good. The concierge, Mary, was very helpful. She recommended some nice restaurants in Old Town and activities during the week. She even helped us get to Eze, Cannes, and Monaco. All in all, if you are looking for a quiet stay at a cool and comforting place, I'd go to Suisse. We're looking forward to our next trip there!
