This Month's New Hotels

"Set as it is in the historic old town, with views of the estuary, Hotel Tayko Bilbao is nothing if not attractive — this picturesque 1924 building has been not just preserved but updated with modern architectural interventions in steel, glass and polished concrete. The result is one part industrial and one part classic." - MICHELIN Guide

Tayko Bilbao (Bilbao, Basque Country) 9 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Set as it is in the historic old town, with views of the estuary, Hotel Tayko Bilbao is nothing if not attractive — this picturesque 1924 building has been not just preserved but updated with modern architectural interventions in steel, glass, and polished concrete. The result is one part industrial and one part classic, and the rooms, from the cozy singles to the junior suites, benefit from the lively contrast. As do the public spaces — especially the restaurants, the Michelin-starred Ola and the more casual Bodega de Ola, both overseen by the highly regarded (and highly decorated) Basque chef Martín Berasategui." - Tablet Hotels

Our stay at the Tayko Hotel was outstanding. We were pleasantly surprised right from the start with two welcome drinks and even a complimentary upgrade, which made our stay even more enjoyable. The hotel itself is modern, stylish, and very comfortable. The service was consistently friendly, attentive, and professional – we felt well taken care of at all times. The only minor downside is the very tight parking area, which can be a bit challenging. But aside from that, everything was truly excellent. We would happily recommend the Tayko Hotel and would gladly stay again!

One of the best hotel stays we've had in Spain. It was our first trip to Bilbao, and the front desk team made us feel welcome and offered recommendations. We loved our room... our junior suite was well-appointed, exceptionally clean, and comfortable for our party of three. It was also a great location. I would recommend this property without hesitation.

The hotel is in a very good location. Beautiful views from the windows and balconies available to guests – a huge plus! The hotel is very well maintained, clean, and everything is prepared with great care. It smells very nice, coffee is available in the rooms, and there is a coffee machine - very good. The staff are very friendly and pleasant. Although the hotel is located in the city centre, the rooms are very quiet, so it is very private.

The hotel looks unassuming from the outside. Inside, however, it impresses with its modern architecture. At the reception, we were greeted by very friendly and competent staff and welcomed with a glass of cava. The room was generously equipped with free drinks in the minibar. We had a room with a river view. Despite the road in front of the hotel, it was very quiet in the room. The hotel does not offer a breakfast buffet. However, you can choose your desired breakfast from the menu, which is lovingly prepared, of very good quality, and beautifully served.|The Hotel is located on the edge of the old town and offers the best service and quality in every respect.

A lovely modern hotel with friendly staff and lots of nice details (when we visited we had a welcome drink and chocolates in the room). The only reason for 4 stars is the breakfast, since it's advertised as being related to a michelin star restaurant. The breakfast was fine, but nothing special. The different elements were all OK on their own, but only OK and together the result wasn't the experience we were expecting. The main dishes were fine, but muffin wasn't fresh (but the bizcocho was good), and the orange juice wasn't the freshest either.

I stayed for 3 nights in this funky modernist hotel. Right in old town which was super convenient to all restaurants etc and 3 min walk to tram. Welcome cava and a ticket for a drink and pinxtos at the bar were very appreciated! My room 206 was comfortable and quiet if a bit dark as it looked into one of the side alleys. Bathroom was a good size, AC powerful and quiet. Breakfast and little bar area were excellent as was the lounge area on the top floor if you needed some space. A club chair, robe, Slippers and a makeup mirror in my room would have greatly enhanced my stay. Very helpful and friendly front desk staff!

The hotel is very well situated close to the Casco Viega and at walking distance along the riverside of the Nervio to the Guggenheim Museum and the center of Bilbao.|The staff is very friendly and helpfull. The breakfast is tasty and here also the staff is very welcoming. The atmosfere in the breakfastroom is quite a relief compared with the normal other buffetbreakfasts. The room was very quiet with good bedding and very clean.

The location is perfect--it's in the old town but away from the noisy and touristy streets. It was like coming home every night. If you'd like to stay in the old part of town--it's the best choice you can make. The rooms are absolutely beautiful and very clean, and serviced early in the day. We stayed in a larger-size room, so we were very comfortable. ||Breakfast at the hotel restaurant Ola is amazing. Plenty of choices and very delicious. All very tasty. The breakfast crew is terrific. We loved Anna and Markita, and everyone else (sorry, we did not get everyone's name)||||In addition to having your breakfast at the restaurant, have dinner at Ola - it has a Michelin star, and it's an amazing experience. ||||We loved the concierge team. We had some very specific requests, and we were traveling quite a bit, so we asked them myriad logistical questions every day, and constantly asked to book a taxi for us. Everyone was so helpful. The concierge team leader is so fantastic--she had the best recommendations for dinner. I still recollect them fondly.
