Hotel The Celestine Ginza (Tokyo, Tokyo) 7 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Ginza is something like Tokyo’s version of New York’s Fifth Avenue — a famous commercial district that’s home to retail flagships, luxury shops, department stores, and more than a few high-end hotels. To that number we can add a newcomer, a member of a Japanese chain to join the international brands in one of the city’s highest-stakes neighborhoods. Hotel The Celestine Ginza suits it surroundings to a tee, a vision in warm, stately stone, with an imposing façade that promises luxury, tranquility, discretion, and professional service — the latter courtesy of the sharply dressed doorman who stands at attention outside." - Tablet Hotels

Where to Stay in Tokyo When You Visit in 2025

"Located in a tower on a street flanked by shops and restaurants, I found the Celestine's fairly large rooms to include desks, minibars, and spacious bathrooms; some rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows or comfortable sofas, putting you right in the middle of Ginza's action." - Matthew Kepnes

The 6 Best Hotels in Tokyo (Updated 2025)

"Located up in a tower on a street lined with shops, restaurants, and bars in upscale Ginza, this four-star property has very friendly staff who go out of their way to ensure a great stay. I like that they offer a variety of breakfast options so you can switch things up—French toast, an American breakfast (scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit), or a Japanese breakfast featuring grilled fish, miso soup, rice, and changing side dishes. Rooms are a bit small but always very clean and well appointed with a desk, blackout curtains, flatscreen TV, safe, Nespresso machine, electric kettle, and minibar; some rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows and others have comfortable sofas. The bathrooms are spacious for Tokyo and come with a shower/tub combo, bidet, bathrobes, slippers, and free toiletries (including a toothbrush and razor); they even provide pajamas, which is a nice touch. If you want to stay in Ginza—the best area in the city for shopping—this is a solid option." - Matthew Kepnes

We loved our stay. Excellent service from everybody at the hotel with extra care from Natsuko, the other restaurant and front desk staff. The food was incredibly good at the restaurant for breakfast with an early service time. The room was a nice size for a Tokyo based hotel, bathroom was spacious with adjustable height shower and a deep tub. The room was clean and cleaning service was excellent. The hotel is located close to shimbashi station with one stop to connect to Tokyo station. It located near tons shopping and nightlife which was great too.

The hotel is spectacular. It has an unbeatable location, and the views from the rooms and breakfast are beautiful. But what's truly incredible is the service from the staff. We were in Tokyo on our honeymoon, and when we told them about our trip, they were incredibly attentive. One day, upon arriving at the hotel, we found a gift in our room. Another morning at breakfast, they drew a picture on our coffee cup with rose petals. It was truly an unforgettable experience. We will definitely return to this hotel.

My husband and I had a great experience at this hotel. The room was spotless, I notice a lot when I stay in hotels and even the caulk in the bathroom was perfectly clean. Breakfast was great with an amazing view and they make an awesome cappuccino. Natsako at breakfast is so wonderful and kind. She was welcoming and gave us a hand drawn note with kind words and one morning I was just going to have the coffee that came with breakfast but she knew I wanted a cappuccino and surprised me with a cappuccino on her. I forgot to pack my skin care and they had it all there in the room too. I only have good things to say.

We stayed at Celestine Ginza from Monday to Friday, and it was truly one of the best experiences we’ve had. The beds and pajamas were exceptionally comfortable, and the staff went above and beyond in every way. A special mention goes to Natsuko in the restaurant, who made our stay unforgettable. Our group even took a picture with her during our visit. On the day we were leaving, she happened to be off, but she thoughtfully left a small photo with a handwritten note on our table. That gesture was so heartfelt and touched us deeply. The restaurent staff ‘Hisa’, the girl at the front ( forgot her name) and another gentleman were truly amazing. Every staff member we encountered was warm, kind, and genuinely happy, which made the entire atmosphere uplifting. Our stay at Celestine Ginza was nothing short of amazing, and we carry beautiful memories from it.

A deeply disappointing experience that overshadowed our stay. On the night of our incident, around 8:50 PM, my wife and I walked to the convenience store located about 30 seconds from the hotel entrance. We were wearing the hotel-provided pajamas and slippers, with our own down jackets over them. As we passed through the lobby, we even greeted the front desk staff politely with a “good evening.” However, just seconds later—while we were waiting at the traffic light outside—the front desk staff suddenly ran out of the hotel, confronted us, and scolded us for wearing the hotel pajamas and slippers outside. My wife was frightened, and we were both completely shocked. This is our first trip to Japan, and we had already reviewed multiple traveler guidelines and cultural etiquette notes. None of them mentioned anything about not being allowed to step outside in hotel pajamas or slippers. The staff escorted us back inside and told us it was “for safety reasons,” yet nowhere in the hotel’s guest information, room signage, or written materials is this rule stated. We were simply walking to a convenience store 10 meters away to buy necessities. To verify, we even asked the convenience store staff afterward, and they confirmed that this attire is not an issue at all in Japan, and no one would care. Originally, we were willing to be understanding about the hotel’s aging condition— • the noticeable odor in the room, • the strong smell from the toilet, • and limescale built up in the bathroom. Since the building is older, we didn’t complain. But tonight’s experience was truly unacceptable and left us feeling extremely uncomfortable. Additional Note In the past week, we stayed at multiple hotels in Osaka, Kyoto, and near Mt. Fuji. None of them ever treated guests this way. Some hotels even clearly state in writing that pajamas and slippers are “for in-hotel use only” — which we fully understand and always respect. Because your hotel provided no written guidelines at all yet still chose to reprimand guests publicly and abruptly, the entire situation felt unreasonable and unnecessarily distressing. This incident unfortunately overshadowed our stay and left a very negative impression.

We had a very nice experience at Hotel Celestine Ginza, staying for 5 nights. The room was exceptionally clean and comfortable — I usually don’t sleep well when staying out, but here I slept nice every night. The Japanese breakfast was delicious, and the location is very convenient, close to both Shimbashi and Ginza stations. The entire hotel also smells pleasant. Most importantly, we truly appreciated the quality of sleep we had during our stay.

Yelp
We stayed at The Celestine Ginza during the majority of our trip to Tokyo this past November. First off, this is a modern, clean hotel located right off a main street. They're also a short 5 min walk to the train station. As for the room, it is definitely on the small side but well organized and efficient in its layout. Small thing I noticed, I love how quickly the elevators move to come get you or drop you off. We sprung for the daily breakfast option at the hotel's restaurant and there are 3 options(Japanese, American, and a French Toast option). I tried all 3 options over the span of our stay here, and I'm pleased we picked up this option during the booking phase. Service both at the restaurant and throughout the hotel was excellent.

Yelp
Amazing experience! This is our second time staying here and this is our "go to" hotel whenever we have business trips in Tokyo. The staff always go above and beyond and they are super friendly and nice. The room is clean and nice. The hotel location is fantastic. All of them try their best to speak English and ensure you have a comfortable stay. We had a lot of suitcases and asked the front desk for help when we were about to go to the airport to fly home. The lady from the front desk called the taxi for us brought all our bags out and loaded the taxi with the driver so quickly and efficiently. I wished I had asked her name so l could tell her manager about her going above and beyond for us. It truly made our stay there so enjoyable and convenient. We will definitely stay there again. 5 stars and I highly recommend this hotel for the value, location and services

Yelp
This is what YOU Get!! I travel a lot for work and stay at hotels for about 70% of the year! This is a nice hotel if you a couple or business person looking to be in the center of it all. Very VERY convenient! Staff is incredibly friendly! Here are some things you should know! -no tipping needed for baggage help, this means the will help you with your luggage right away upon arrival and for free -FREE included Smartphone inside your room that you can use that has data, and a japanese number with free calls. -Breakfast was included for us, as we optioned the breakfast included selection when booking online Hotels.com -The rooftop has a kind staff that also can be enjoyed at night with drinks -The Hotel area is located right in ginza where you are surrounded very closely to great eateries and shopping places and Tourist attracting places to visit! -I always called for a Taxi and where I am headed and I would leave to the lobby within 2 minutes and by the time I was downstairs the taxi and a staff member was waiting! Very quick! -Security, very safe, need to use hotel card key to enter lobby after a certain time -close to Ginza6 mall, ginza crossing, pokemon center, Joypolis, Odaiba, and much more! DOWNSIDE: cost! For 4 nights it was roughly $1700 usd!!! OUCH!! I try to stay within the $150 a night range but for this trip decided to see what this hotel is about. Like most Hotels in Japan the rooms were small.. very small. For the price I was hoping for something much larger. -Taxis.. bring a Hotel card with you with the address in Japanese. This way you can just show the Taxi driver the location. The hotel must be new because nobody knew! One Taxi man said it used to the called the Nikko Hotel. (Still didnt help lol)

Yelp
My wife and I came here for the first leg of our honeymoon and it did not disappoint. We chose to take the train in from Narita Airport and walk with our bags from Ginza Station, which wasn't too bad, but Uber also works great here. Hotel is easy to find and on a main street. Service was excellent and much of the staff speaks pretty good English. Our room was pretty small, but that was expected and seems to be standard here in Tokyo. The bathroom was actually bigger than expected though and rather luxurious. Neighborhood was nice, on the quieter side but with plenty of shopping and fine dining nearby. The Lawson 24 hour store next door was a life saver too given our jet lag. We didn't opt for the included breakfast but tried the American breakfast one day, it was 3200 yen (~$30) and well worth it in my opinion. The restaurant is also a great spot for drinks with a view at night. Overall we had a great experience here and would recommend it to many visitors of Tokyo. Prices seem pretty variable; I noticed another reviewer spent over $400/night here but we spent under $300/night (booked 1-2 months in advance).

Yelp
Celestine Ginza is a nice, more modern hotel in Tokyo. The room we stayed in was comfortable, nicely lit, and always clean. They had good perks such as Shiseido and Bvlgari bathroom amenities and a cellphone you could bring to use outside the hotel just in case you need it while exploring. The bathroom had both a shower and a bath. It was great to get in the bath after walking miles around Tokyo. It seems as though most of the hotel rooms in Tokyo are on the smaller side. After opening up our luggages, there was no space to really walk around. There was also no luggage stand which was a little inconvenient. We had a little bit of a hard time with communicating with the concierge at times as not a lot of people speak great English in Japan in comparison to other countries. There were a few that were more helpful than others. The best part of the hotel was its location. It's conveniently located a short 5 min walk away to the Shimbashi Station. It is also walking distance to the lavish shopping area of Ginza. There is also a Lawson convenience store right next door to the hotel. The Tsukiji market is about a 15 min walk away. It's a more quiet area in comparison to Shibuya/Shinjuku area. Overall, I would probably stay here again.
