Busy weekend for us: after hubby's birthday party on Friday we had a wonderful!!! time at the pool, and lucky us our friend had rented a cabana for the day :)
Everyone we met - from Seth at the entrance to Justine bringing our drinks to the restaurant staff - I apologize for not remembering the name of the so nice lady who brought us our food and drinks at brunch. You have to try the Southern Skies cocktail if you love Rye Whisky, great flavor and is refreshing to drink; she helped make our brunch in the restaurant even better. Speaking of food: my buttermilk pancakes, with a hint of grey sea salt, were fluffy and delicious. I was tempted by several dishes, the Fried Rice bowl looked amazing, but everything had chilis or bell peppers :(
I should've snapped a photo of our food, but as always was too busy enjoying my pancakes....
The pool water was a bit warm for me, colder would have been even better, but I had so much fun chatting with others milling about in or around the pool.
Valley Ho has a great party atmosphere without being overly 'partied', there is music all day but it's not extremely loud like some places.
There is another pool on the other side of the rooms in a lovely green peaceful setting, that is a longer, rectangular pool, best for people chilling and swimming lengths. Not sure if it's an Olympic-sized pool.
I met a wonderful group of people hanging out at the 'party' pool; I even acquired a really lovely big fan, to stave the heat away, from our cabana neighbors:
I asked where they got the fans and they said there had been a promotion earlier with giveaways before we all arrived; we did get the free beer from the Corona promotion people that were walking along the pool with samples.
We visited with their group for a bit and one of them even brought over some wine to share :)) Thank you, Mark.
The daybeds were very comfy as you can see in the photos, but ..I have to say the headrest fabric is soooo hot; I wish they had been in the same terry cloth as the beds.
I still give the full 5because this Hotel deserves them; I didn't go see our friend's room so can't comment on that this time.
The restaurant, Zuzu, has really good food; the brunch was great, but even better was the pasta with squid ink: effing fantastic: pasta al dente Yay and the sauce was delicate but perfect with the pasta! The bowl of brussel sprouts was so tempting, but had chilies so it wasn't for me but they smelled and looked so yummy. I was too concentrated on my plate I didn't notice what my friends were eating and didn't take any pix.
We will absolutelt go back and I have to compliment the Chef and his staff: the food is fantastic - a tad pricey, but worth it - and I was thrilled to see the squid ink pasta :)
We all will most definitely go back!
I'm still thinking of my pasta and would happily have it again today if it wasn't a Monday and work.
Thank you for our great pool day!
