Hotel Vestibul Palace

"The tiny hotel in the heart of Diocletian's Palace is a striking blend of ancient history and 21st-century luxury. There aren't too many places in the world where you can sleep in an extremely comfortable bed surrounded by 1,700-year-old walls. P.E."

Hotel Vestibul Palace | Best places to stay in Split

"Aimed at visitors who want their own luxury bolthole in Split’s magnificent car-free old town, this discreet boutique hotel lies inside Diocletian’s Palace and is popular with visiting celebs. With just five rooms and two spacious suites (plus four more rooms in the nearby annex), it’s small enough to be able to offer truly personalised service. Steeped in history, the interior combines sections of the ancient Roman structure with modern minimalist furnishing and 21st-century gadgetry. The hotel’s Magnus restaurant serves creative Dalmatian fare on the secluded square out front, accompanied by occasional performances of Dalmatian klapa (plainsong). " - Jane Foster

A beautiful hotel, amazingly helpful friendly staff and the breakfasts are just out of this world! Toni came and met us where the taxi dropped us off and helped us with the bags to the room. He then patiently explained everything we needed to know and gave us a map pointing out the best spots to eat and local attractions. The room was immaculately clean and very comfortable. Breakfast would have to rate as one of the best I’ve ever had. A variety of breads, pastries, fruit, nuts, cheeses, cold cuts - and that was before we ordered off the menu! Plenty of cups of coffee, juices and teas available and the staff were super nice and accomodating to us. This is the place to stay if you’re visiting Split!

I cant say enough great things about this hotel staff. Steven (sp?) and Ivan in particular were so wonderful. We had some issues with our booking (our fault not the hotel's) and Steven went out of his way to support us offering professional and personal insights. He also checked on us to make sure everything went well. Ivan also went above and beyond to provide solutions and support and personalized service. Also both men were so nice and funny and knowledgeable. Very interesting and intelligent gentleman. Had a great time chatting with them. The hotel itself is lovely and worth the extra effort to access. However because of its location inside the palace walls be sure to coordinate your arrival and departure with the staff. I'm sure, they will extend you the same VIP treatment extended us.

My husband and I loved the hotel but more than the charm and the perfect location of this boutique hotel, we were so impressed with the top notch service we received while we were there. Before arrival, they reached out to us to meet us when we get there since it is hard to find the exact location especially since there are two separate hotels within a short distance of each other. Ivan met us the first night and guide us to the hotel and made suggestions for dinner. The next day he reached out again to see how we are doing and I relayed to him that my husband hurt his knee by the beach. He came over immediately with a first aid kit and he called the airport for us to arrange for wheel chair for our return and see if we can leave a day early. He was so kind to us and brought chocolate to cheer my husband and arranged for a private car to take us to the airport the next day and for someone to meet us at 4 am to help us with our luggage. Thank you so much Ivan for all your care. We are back home safe and sound and my husband is doing better. We also loved the breakfasts and all the staff there who were so sweet. We highly recommend this hotel for its unique location but mostly for the attention and care they provide to all their guests.

The Hotel Vestibul Palace is part of the Hilton LSH small botique collection. It has 7 rooms with 4 more in a an annex a few meters away (try to stay in the main hotel, (not annex). I can honestly say that we have never had a nicer and friendlier staff than at the Vestibul. Gettint to the hotel is a bit tricky if you do not know Split. We happened to arrive in the pouring down rain which did not help. Instructions were to contact the staff through Whats App once we entered the main parking lot of the old town, but ours was not working so we were forced to find the hotel on our own. A few twists and turns and directions from a tour guide got us there. The manager quickly arranged for someone to see to our car and to bring our luggage to the hotel. While we were waiting he offered us 2 cold glass of bubbly which tasted great after a challenging drive in the rain from Korcula. An upgrade was available for the 1st night of our 2 night stay and we gladly accepted. The upgrade was to the junior suite. The following night we were in the classic room we had originally reserved. My recommendation, if you can afford it, is to book the junior suite from the beginning. Both rooms were very nice but the junior suite gives you more moving around space and is more comfortable. The manager (Ivan) gave us a quick, but thorough overview of Split including a map of the town. We ate dinner at the hotel's Magnus Restaurant and the food and wine were excellent. The hotel was located right next to the Vestibul. If you get up and out around 7:30 or so you can take wonderful pictures while the Vestibul and Plaza are totally empty. In a short time both will be filled with hundreds of people. Obviously, the location of the hotel is a real plus..located in the middle of the Palace and easy to come back to if you need to put your feet up for a while. We had breakfast in the courtyard with all sorts of items available and food cooked to order. If you're looking for a great hotel with fantastic staff this is the place. We hated to leave.

Had the best 4 night stay here. The service was exceptional. Steven and Ivan helped ensure I had the best time in Split. From anticipating my arrival (and helping me with my luggage), assisting me with booking a private boat tour, dinner reservations, and more, they delivered top notch service. I felt so comfortable and welcomed. Location can’t be beat next to the vestibule. The main hotel is beautiful and room was very comfortable. I spent two of the four nights in the Villa. I liked the more quiet location, but felt like the room quality was not the same as the main hotel. The price difference properly reflected this, so I thought it was fair. Highly recommend Hotel Vestibul Palace for your visit to Split!

There are two distinct locations for this property the main and the “annex” or “villa”. They are very different experiences. The main is what you would expect from a Hilton related property, luxurious. The annex is about 2-5 minutes (depending on your familiarity with Split) and is more like a dorm or Air b&b. We were assigned to the annex and didn’t care for it. Steven, the manager, was great and was able to come up with a mutually acceptable solution. Really appreciated that! The service throughout the stay was excellent! Really treated us like VIPs. The breakfast was awesome and was a highlight. Location could not be beat. Easy access to everything in old town Split. An amazing and memorable experience!

A Seamless Stay in the Heart of Split We had a wonderful (albeit short) two-night stay at Hotel Vestibul Palace. The service from Ivan and the entire team was truly outstanding — warm, attentive, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. While the hotel can be a bit tricky to navigate due to its location within the historic center, the staff made it completely stress-free. They guided us step-by-step, including helping with luggage from the parking lot directly to our room — a level of service we deeply appreciated. The facilities were clean, thoughtfully designed, and elevated in every way — a perfect blend of modern comfort and old-town charm. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend Hotel Vestibul to anyone visiting Split!

Ivan is such a proactive and helpful employee. He made sure that all of our transfers from the port to the airport were seamless. He’s a gem! This property is in such a cool and historic location - we really enjoyed being in the center of everything. We felt so welcomed, and the touch of a welcome drink was very thoughtful. Our room was well designed. We did think that for a luxury property the lack of coffee service in the room was noticeably absent, and the bedding, towels, and mattress could use updating. Our breakfast in the morning was perfect - and the patio outside was super charming. We wouldn’t hesitate to book this property again when we visit Split. Thanks, Ivan and team!
