Hotel Villa Honegg (Burgenstock, Swiss Alps) Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Even simply breathing is a pleasure at Villa Honegg. A classic Swiss mountain hotel that’s been given a modern luxury hotel makeover, it sits on a mountain where the air is so fresh you’ll want to bottle it up and take it home. Maybe it’s the breezes off the snowcapped peaks and lakes, maybe it’s all the alpine trees and the lack of traffic — whatever it is, it induces deep, relaxing breaths." - Tablet Hotels

As soon as we ascended up the mountain to Hotel Villa Honegg, I knew we were entering a special place. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the sense of peace was immediate. Check-in was smooth, even though our room wasn’t quite ready. The reception team kindly gave us a hiking map, which made our first Swiss hike less daunting. The trail was challenging but rewarding, and our young girls powered through with endless energy. By the time we returned, our room was ready, and we were given a tour of the facilities before being shown to our stunning room. The views from our patio looked straight out of a movie. Our daughters adored the infinity pool, while my wife and I enjoyed the spa amenities. Dining was another highlight — both the restaurant and room service were superb, with food that tasted fresh, clean, and refined. A particularly memorable touch was the private theatre, which guests can book for two hours. After our hike, it was the perfect way to relax together as a family. Another small but wonderful detail was the hotel’s postcards, featuring beautiful images of the property. Our girls loved writing and sending them to family and friends back home. The only downside was that we stayed just two nights before moving on to our next city. We’ll absolutely return, but next time for a full week. This is the perfect place if you want to splurge and treat yourself — highly recommended.

We are a 30-something couple from the US and usually stay at Marriott hotels because of status and they tend to be clean, contemporary, and usually central to touristy sights! We go off our usual Marriott hotel for special splurges at unique hotels, like the Villa Honegg! We were here for a short stay at one of the first floor rooms with a private terrace. We loved the luxurious French villa style feel and the amazing views! I liked that there isn't a bar inside the hotel and the sole dining area that's by reservation only, so the hotel is very quiet. We had the formal dinner one night, which was very good, but preferred the room service food and dining on our private terrace (we liked the food better with pasta, fries, and a sandwich and we were paying for our terrace view anyway). We also got the massages which wasn't all that special. The infinity pool has amazing views during daytime and the evening - definitely a big perk to a stay here. Delicious breakfast included - you can order your custom breakfast menu plus a buffet style of cold items available as well. We didn't have a car so we took a train from Lucerne train station to a bus station down the hill from the hotel. Then the hotel shuttle will come pick you up whenever you call for it. Same for our return trip. Service was awesome - thanks to everyone who made our stay great! Downside is there are a bazillion flies!!! Please get some sort of fly trap for inside dining room because I had to fight off the flies sitting on my food during dinner.

Absolutely loved my stay at the Villa Honegg. Tucked away in a quiet spot in the mountains, this hotel is the most idyllic backdrop for a peaceful getaway. The pool is the star of the show - and for good reason! The heated water at 34 degrees and views made for a once in a lifetime experience. The rooms were beautiful with lovely luxury touches, although more on the smaller side. Overall, we had the best time here and can’t wait to go back in the near future.

Villa Honegg is truly exceptional. From the moment you arrive, you’re met with breathtaking views, serene surroundings, and impeccable service. The spa is peaceful and beautifully maintained, the food is delicious and beautifully presented, and the staff go above and beyond to make the experience unforgettable. A perfect escape — luxurious, relaxing, and worth every moment.

Attended a small wedding at the Honegg. Views are fantastic and the food was excellent as well as the service. Getting to Honegg in itself is a wonderful experience. From Lucern took a ferry then a mountain tram and a long hike up to the villa.

This review is in comparison to other 5 star hotels. Wife thought it was a nice experience. We had the alpine view with balcony. The reason why it’s not a 5 is because restaurant waiter was rude, there isn’t much staff in the evening so service is slow, and not sure why there is a dress code for the restaurant. On a brighter note, really enjoyed using their cinema room and the heated outdoor pool. Will be trying a different hotel next time I’m around this area.

We wanted to spend a quiet weekend there and it was just that- very relaxing and quiet. The service was a bit slow, but since we were in no rush, it was totally okay. The views are amazing and the pool as well- we would come again.

Yelp
Spent the Christmas holiday here with my husband in one of their superior rooms with a very generous terrace and view of miraculous mountains and placid Lake Lucerne. Nothing short of an absolute dream. The staff was very helpful, accommodating and pleasant. We enjoyed the lovely breakfast of locally sourced foods, perfect private theatre, intimate spa and of course the truly astonishing infinity pool heated to a wonderfully balmy temperature with utterly breathtaking views. With only 23 rooms, the hotel is an exclusive retreat for the discerning traveler. Totally unforgettable experience that I highly recommend. My only regret is that we did not stay longer, a mistake I won't make on my next visit :)

Yelp
Where to start?! We loved every moment of our experience at Hotel Villa Honegg and 10/10 would recommend to anyone who asks. We hope to visit again someday! From the moment of booking, the team at Honegg was already very accommodating. We reached out for various questions in the weeks leading up to our stay and they promptly responded each time. Before even arriving, they booked us for massages at the spa and dinner reservations for the first night, as well as helped us coordinate our transportation and arranged for a driver to pick us up at the bus stop. When we arrived, they took care of our luggage and gave us a tour of the house so we knew where to find everything during our stay. After the tour, we were taken to our room, where we were met with a stocked mini bar and snacks, and a great meat and cheese tray our travel agent coordinated for us. The hotel also had a hand-written note to welcome us! After settling in, we went to the spa to relax before our massages and immediately fell in love with the gorgeous views from the infinity pool. There are definitely moments the pool gets crowded with people taking photos or videos (can't blame them- we did too! It's too gorgeous not to). But we had many times when we had the entire pool to ourselves to really enjoy it. We both had wonderful massages in their spa! Onto the food- dinner was incredible. They brought us a note of congratulations for our recent marriage- signed by the staff at the restaurant. We were given an amuse-Bouche to start. I had the 6-course Honegg Gourmet menu with corresponding wines. Everything was good, but the cream of corn soup was absolutely delicious! I wish I had the recipe. My husband enjoyed every bit of his meal, too. And please do NOT miss the Honegg cream slice! Maybe it was the wine, but I teared up eating this because it was SO good. We even ordered a slice for a late night bite the next evening. Breakfast was also fantastic! They always started with a nice meat, cheese, and fruit tray. Then you could order what you wanted from their breakfast menu- all included in the room rate. I loved the Egg Honegg! We also chose to get their picnic basket and hiked over to the Hammetschwand Lift to enjoy the lunch they packed for us. I truly cannot say enough about how wonderful this mountain oasis is. Service was impeccable from start to finish and we look forward to making another trip someday!

Yelp
The view is spectacular and the people are very special. Hotel needs a face lift. Rooms have a musty smell and are very dusty. Lots of people from the outside visit so it doesn't feel exclusive. Main dining room is dated, chairs are worn out, drapes are not very nice and lighting is way off. Again people are amazing here. The hotel needs work.

Yelp
This place is heaven on earth. A beautiful hotel that sits on top of a mountain with a view of lake Geneva and Lucerne. The hotel staff are pleasant and they have expedient service. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Hotel Honegg is hands down the best hotel near Lucerne, Switzerland. The views of Lake Lucerne are beyond spectacular! You also wont be able to beat the customer service. The servers at the restaurant are friendly and attentive and the hotel concierge was incredibly helpful.

Yelp
This hotel is a fairy tale. 5 star for A reason. The pool, the views, the room, the service: everything is tailored for your needs and amazement. This place is very classy, cosy and quiet. We thoroughly enjoy our nights there and we can only look forward to coming back in the future.

Yelp
I write this review to ensure that ENGLISH SPEAKING travelers can be aware of the level of service they provide. Frankly, very disappointed. This is the most disappointed of any 5 star hotel I've visited. In fact, I'm so disappointed that I'm writing a review in YELP AND TRIPADVISOR so you can think thrice before spending money here. I basically centered my Switzerland trip around Villa Honegg ("VH"), a beautiful resort in the Swiss Mountains and often featured in Travel Magazines. I LOVE to swim, and have traveled to many of the world's best places to "splishy splashy" (as my husband calls it). I wanted to swim in VH's pool. Nonetheless, I emailed VH FIVE DAYS in advance to request directions asking for options to get to VH from Lucerne (which I was traveling from). It took three days, yes, 3 DAYS, for VH to write a one-line response stating that I have to take a bus from Lucerne, then another bus, then walk 25 minutes. Well, if I were my usual self, sure, I could walk 25 minutes. However, thanks to fellow travel reviewers, they had mentioned that the 25 minutes consists of a hill which my injury cannot sustain. Point 1 - VH did not mention any uphill climbing. Next, I respond to VH asking if they could help me call a taxi (you have to understand that this place is quite "out there"). Another 2 days had passed, and by then, my spa reservation has come and gone. Oh, right, you have to pre-reserve your spa time (which I did three months ago). The day AFTER my spa time had passed, I receive an email stating that they could take two buses and then VH could help me call a taxi provided that I tell them beforehand my arrival time which obviously I could do because I have (1) never take either buses before, (2) never been to VH before, and (3) umm.. need I say more. Sure, I could've just arranged for all of this when I bought the VH spa tickets months ago. You might even say that it was my fault for not getting this ahead of time. I even blame myself a little bit, BUT I'M PAYING A FAIR AMOUNT OF MONEY FOR HOSPITALITY!!! I would've called if I were dealing with the government, but should've a FIVE STAR hotel be more responsive? I respectfully requested VH for a refund due to their communication of lack thereof... It's been three days and I have not heard a yes or no.. so typical.

Yelp
Location and Service at it's best! The Honegg is a great place for a day trip to central Switzerland. The last 3km of the road already suggest a mountain feeling, it is steep (even though we have seen people on Bicycles). But you want to enjoy the remote mountain feeling in perfect and XX-Star atmosphere, right? It is worth while to stop for a light snack at the terrace with its stunning view to the lake and the mountains. And, yes, Dinner and Lunch are very well prepared and furthermore served by very friendly people in perfection. BUT, if you can, use their Spa (call for reservation in advance). See the pictures and you know why. And, yes, it all goes together as a one-day trip: snack at the terrace, spa, dinner....

Yelp
Where can be more romantic to have the Valentine's day lunch at this nicely situated hotel dining room while watching snow flakes flowing around outside? Feels like in the heaven. Besides the great ambiance, the food was carefully selected and well prepared. The service is polished yet friendly. Love this place.
