Where to Eat and Stay in Todos Santos, Mexico

"Villa Santa Cruz is an oasis on the water run by two California-born couples. It has expanded over more than a decade to include villas, bungalows, and luxury oceanside tent suites with glass windows and hard walls. The hotel is devoted to programming and experiences that connect guests with local culture, like cooking classes and horseback riding excursions to a nearby working ranch." - David Shortell

Yes, ABSOLUTELY YES!! This is so far one of my favorite boutique hotels ever. You’re in an absolute oasis. Being beachfront and also two pools on site, I barely even left the resort because I was so extremely relaxed. You can also call room service and they don’t charge extra for the food. I was lucky to get an ocean view room, and I had a wonderful balcony and it felt like serenity looking out in the ocean. I love that they bring you complementary coffee and a small breakfast snack every morning. I also love the free breakfast at their restaurant. They will even allow you to take extra to your room. One of their popular restaurants is The Green Room which a lot of people tend to go because of the amazing sunset view and beachfront restaurant location. Staying at the resort, you are lucky to just walk over. This is a definite 100% guaranteed amazing stay.

We stayed in a lovely bungalow; charming, well appointed and immensely comfortable. Having our morning coffee delivered to our door and then enjoyed on our deck surrounded by tropical flowers was a real treat, matched at the end of the day by a glass of wine beside our personal fire table. The restaurants are all top notch with food picked freshly from the gardens of the resort. Everything at Villa Santa Cruz is carefully thought out to make sure you are well cared for and have a wonderful relaxing experience. Our 7 yr old grandaughter loved the horse riding lessons and the adults loved with fabulous grounds and seaside for strolling. We will go back again for certain!

Just retuned for my second visit to Villa Santa Cruz and even more blown away than my first time - the property is designed and programmed like a love letter to Baja, celebrating the entire region from its farm and insanely fresh and delicious food, to the ranchero lifestyle with its new onsite stables and equestrian program (plus the horses are rescues), and wellness offerings including ocean front sound baths that mix the vibrations from the earth and the waves with crystal singing bowls. We spent time with Victoria who takes care of the properties bees, and did an amazing beekeeping experience where we helped her feed and tend to the bees and was able to spot the queens! She’s amazing, and made our stay and our experience in the farm truly spectacular! The whole team is so kind, genuine and hospitable, Azu, Sara and Paul all took wonderful care of us. With its beachfront location and two stunning pools, plus epic lookouts from towers on both the beach and the farm, I don’t know a better spot to come to relax, be present and stir your soul with the true essence of Baja.

We absolutely loved our time at Villa Santa Cruz. The tented ocean suites were a dream come true. The service was exceptional. Food and drinks were top notch. Scenery was breathtaking. Our rooms were delightful. Every night we had turn down service and the lemon bar treats were so yummy. We will definitely be going back!

A True Oasis in Baja Sur – Villa Santa Cruz|Every year we return to Villa Santa Cruz, and somehow, it becomes even more magical. Matt and Jessica have poured their hearts into this place — and it shows. The love, hard work, and attention to detail make it feel like a tranquil oasis, tucked perfectly into the beauty of Todos Santos.||The on-site restaurant, Caracara, is a true gem, serving up some of the freshest fish and meat in the region — every bite is a reminder of the richness of Baja’s coast and land. And to top it off? A handcrafted cocktail at The Green Room bar, watching the sunset melt into the Pacific… it doesn’t get better than that.||Villa Santa Cruz is more than a resort — it’s a destination, an experience, and a labor of love. Can’t wait for next year!

As a travel advisor who specializes in boutique hotels, Villa Santa Cruz exceeded my expectations. If you are seeking a boutique hotel that's off the beaten path, with incredible grounds, authentic design, farm-to-table restaurants and great service, this is the spot for you. The hotel is just 15 minutes outside of town, but it feels completely secluded with a private beach at your fingertips. I recommend the bungalow rooms located near the pool. These rooms have beach views, a private patio with firepits, and easy access to everything on the property. We only stayed one night, but wished we had spent our entire trip here! Great for couples, honeymooners, families and special events.

My wife and I drove to Caracara for dinner from Cabo. Before dinner we walked over to the lounge bar at Villa Santa Cruz for a drink. She ordered a margarita and I got a double Fortaleza anejo on ice. When I went to settle the bill I was shocked to discover that the price of my drink was 820 pesos per ounce!!!! My 2 ounce drink was $90 usd for a tequila that costs $90 per bottle!! I explained to the bartender and the manager how I hadn't been given the pricing when ordering the drink and how it's insane to charge what an entire bottle costs for 2 ounces. It didn't seem like they had any authority or desire to remedy the situation. Admittedly, the location and place is gorgeous! I expect to pay a bit more for upscale locations, but there is a big difference between making someone feel welcome and making them feel stupid!!! Look at the menu carefully! One ounce of average tequila could cost more than your entire dinner!!

This place is AMAZING!!!!!! We stayed here for a girls trip over a long weekend and we were all very impressed with this resort. The rooms are gorgeous, as is the expansive property. Also the food (at both restaurants and pool/room service) was so delicious! They have farm to table cuisine and everything tasted fresh, delicious and even healthy because it was grown right there on the property! If you want to go into town they have a shuttle service (or taxi) and it's only a 20min drive. We were lucky enough to meet the owners who seem lovely and very sincere. They really have a special thing going at this place. I am sure it will blow up with bookings, if it hasn't already. I want to come back and stay in one the beach 'tent's'. Bonus - we saw humpback whales when we arrived!! Oh and I was told they are working on adding a gym and wellness center to the property, which would make this place perfectly perfect!!!!

Yelp
Entire experience was exquisite. Hotel accommodations were 1st class, service was impeccable, food was 5 stars, everyone was nice and helpful. They even lite our beach bonfire nightly and brought us cocktails to the beach.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous accommodations. Wonderful drinks at the pool by Aaron. Delicious, fresh food. Access to a quiet, expansive beach with no one on it, and very little built on it. Fabulous staff. We stayed here for three days and had a terrific experience. I would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone.

Yelp
The villa is stunning. We stayed in suite Familia and our young adult children stayed in suite Coco for three nights. We loved every minute of our stay! The beach, palapa, pool, hot tub at the perfect temperature, the little swim up bar, scrumptious breakfasts, on-site ATV rental, massages by the ocean, diligent hospitality... what's there not to love? We've traveled all over the world and the stay at the Villa exceeded our expectations. Spent a day in Cabo with water sports, went to Cerritos Beach (nothing to write home about...) and took the ATVs to town, about a 12-min ride and for miles and miles of sand on the beach. So fun! Fish tacos in town were great. Dinner at Green Room, fire pit front, on the beach enjoying the sunset is a must! Everything was so beautiful... our rooms were spectacularly clean, which is something I can't say for too many places, even those with 4 or 5 stars, made the Villa standout. Their house and ground sleeping staff are to be commended!! Tiled floors are so clean one can literally see them glitter in the light. Every detail is cared for here with intention and beauty. Staff are friendly and efficient. Already booked my return visit!

Yelp
Hidden Gem with great service and delicious breakfast. If you go to Todos Santos stay here!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Staff is out of this world, food and drinks are amazing, rooms are perfect. Right near the beach with breathtaking views. Would give 6 stars if I could.

Yelp
All in all the villa is outstanding and beautiful but if you don't rent out the whole thing with people you know, beware that you will be in very close quarters with other guests, for better or worse. This is a small boutique hotel with four guest rooms. The entire villa can also be rented out by one group. The property is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The large grounds are meticulously kept. Beach front property with ample privacy and not much beach traffic nearby so it feels secluded. Gorgeous pool and jacuzzi overlooking the beach. Cozy palapa with hammocks and cushioned seating makes for a great reading nook or whale watching post. Spacious roof deck with gorgeous 360 views and a fire pit in case it gets chilly. The owners are incredibly friendly and gracious. They did an impeccable job outfitting the villa with reclaimed wood doors, specially commissioned Mexican floor and bath tiles, and unique glass ceiling lamps. The rooms feel comfortable and up-to-date while still giving an old traditional Mexican style. Coffee or tea is delivered to your door by 7am. Breakfast is served each morning at a communal table between 8:30am and 10am. Lunch and dinner can be provided upon request for an additional fee. The lights are turned down and the villa put to sleep for the night at 10pm. Despite its many wonderful features, I do have some reservations about the place that would cause me to think twice before staying here again. There is a shared dining room and living room on the first floor that all guests may use. The villa's second floor is open looking down on the first floor, in addition to an open stairwell connecting the two, so sound carries VERY easily, especially because of the tile floors and lack of soft surfaces to absorb noise. Thus you are at the mercy of your fellow guests and their level of consideration and social grace as to whether noise will be an issue when you are sleeping in the morning or relaxing at night. If you like quiet, if you are a late sleeper, or if you like to go to bed before 10pm, you may not like this place. The hotel owners are fairly hands off and trust their guests to be adults. The owners could probably help manage the noise situation by suggesting guests be mindful of each other, suggesting "quiet hours" or encouraging guests not to use the first floor common areas between 9pm and 8am, etc. Guests are able to eat dinner at the villa through the use of a private chef ($60 per person). It would be courteous to let other guests know if some housemates have reserved a chef so they can choose to plan an evening out if they don't want to trip over the dinner party happening in their shared villa.
