Where to Eat and Stay in Todos Santos, Mexico

"Villa Santa Cruz is an oasis on the water run by two California-born couples. It has expanded over more than a decade to include villas, bungalows, and luxury oceanside tent suites with glass windows and hard walls. The hotel is devoted to programming and experiences that connect guests with local culture, like cooking classes and horseback riding excursions to a nearby working ranch." - David Shortell

Villa Santa Cruz (Todos Santos, Baja California Sur) 2 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There aren’t many places more conducive to getting away from it all than Todos Santos, in Baja California Sur, just an hour up the Pacific coast from Cabo San Lucas. And the primary aim of Villa Santa Cruz is to provide guests with an opportunity to unwind in a style that’s both luxurious and as casual as can be. Its owners, two Calfornia-born couples, started with a single villa, and slowly expanded the hotel’s offerings into what you see today: a second villa, a handful of bungalows and poolside mini-villas, and four tented suites, for maximum communion with the beachfront setting." - Tablet Hotels

Villa Santa Cruz Hotel Review | Hotels Above Par

"Perched directly on the beach in Todos Santos, this 24-room hideaway blends hacienda-revival architecture with warm, saturated colors and offers varied accommodations—from breezy tented oceanfront suites and bungalows tucked into tropical greenery to rooftop villas with private hot tubs and fireplaces. Mornings begin to the rhythm of waves from the nearby La Pastora surf break and often a tray at your door with fresh French press coffee or tea, flaky pastries, and a garden-picked bouquet; sunrise horseback rides led by an onsite wrangler provide a grounding, mindful start to the day. The property is centered on a flourishing on-site garden that supplies two distinctive dining experiences—the laid-back beachfront Green Room and the elevated Caracara, whose striking outdoor dining area sits beneath an artful assemblage of twig-like structures—so dishes lean heavily on sun-ripened citrus, hand-harvested herbs, and other kitchen-fresh ingredients. Facilities and activities are designed for both relaxation and adventure, including the Serenity Lap Pool, The Nest spa and seaside yoga, bocce and pickleball, cooking classes, mezcal tastings, beach access, an Observatory Tower for stargazing, and a complimentary shuttle into Todos Santos."

The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated with local aesthetics. It might be controversial but we loved that there was no television in the room and the bed faced the view straight on. The rooms are very well placed so that when you open the windows the sea air washed in and you really don't need the A/C too much. We left the windows open all night and listen to the ocean and enjoyed the breeze. The water pressure though, was terrible. It took be 3x longer to shower. Given the location I'm not sure that can be changed. The entire property layout is stunning. It has desert with beach and all of the amenity placements are so well thought out. Who ever planned the resort deserves so much accolades because it is both functional and beautiful. They have this amazing beach tower where you can watch the sunset and look at the stars. The property does an amazing job of providing just enough light without creating too much light pollution. I knocked off a star for service. The staff was kind of a mixed bag. There was some that provided excellent service befitting of the property and others offered service befitting of a 3 star Hampton inn. When our room was cleaned after the 1st night. 1. Not all of our towels were replenished 2. They took a used wine glass and put it outside on the stool where they bring morning drinks and left it there all day. No one took it away until the next morning after drinks. 3. There was a big bag of dirty linens left on our bathroom floor. We had to set it outside for someone to pick up. 4. There was muddy foot prints all over the shower and bathroom 5. They moved our luggage to the middle of the room during cleaning and just left it there without putting it back where they found it. 6. They left our door unlocked after turn down service. 7. They left the door wide open during turn down service so there were moths and mosquito inside the villa that were not there hours before. Breakfast. As Diamonds this was included with our stay. We were told breakfast is from 8am to 10am. We got there at 9am and things were already "finished". We picked a table with shade and they didn't wipe off the table mats. We asked to have the table cleaned again and the guy came over and looked at us and just flipped the mat over without wiping and just walked off. I also saw one of the servers pick up a piece of dropped potato on the table and instead of throwing it away he tossed it back into the serving dish. Breakfast was good quality and tasted good. However, the overall hygiene and again service was an issue. Even though breakfast didn't end until 10am by 9:30 they had packed most of the stuff away and broke everything down. The on property activity were nice and well thought out. I wish the property let us know of the activities prior to arrival so we could plan to attend. They have a on site stable offering horse riding. We did the ride into the desert and beach sunset. It was a great ride with rescue horses and I would absolutely do it again. The riding program deserves 5 stars on its own. I would definitely return to the property in the future as they mentioned a new wellness center that is being built. I hope by then they will have better trained staff to go with their 5 star amenities and property

Yes, ABSOLUTELY YES!! This is so far one of my favorite boutique hotels ever. You’re in an absolute oasis. Being beachfront and also two pools on site, I barely even left the resort because I was so extremely relaxed. You can also call room service and they don’t charge extra for the food. I was lucky to get an ocean view room, and I had a wonderful balcony and it felt like serenity looking out in the ocean. I love that they bring you complementary coffee and a small breakfast snack every morning. I also love the free breakfast at their restaurant. They will even allow you to take extra to your room. One of their popular restaurants is The Green Room which a lot of people tend to go because of the amazing sunset view and beachfront restaurant location. Staying at the resort, you are lucky to just walk over. This is a definite 100% guaranteed amazing stay.

What an amazing time we had. We didn’t want to leave. The service and staff was incredible. The drinks at the pool from Aaron were the best we ever had from cocktails to mocktails this dude was top shelf. I have to give a shout out to our massage therapist and pedicure therapist. The best in Mexico! One of our favorite experiences was the camp fire and astronomy lesson we had from Jessel. He was so informative and the lesson we got was educational and super fun. I wish I could do that every night with with him at the fire while roasting marshmallows and drinking hot chocolate. The food was top level and I have to say everyone worked so hard to make our stay amazing. So thank you staff!

A True Oasis in Baja Sur – Villa Santa Cruz|Every year we return to Villa Santa Cruz, and somehow, it becomes even more magical. Matt and Jessica have poured their hearts into this place — and it shows. The love, hard work, and attention to detail make it feel like a tranquil oasis, tucked perfectly into the beauty of Todos Santos.||The on-site restaurant, Caracara, is a true gem, serving up some of the freshest fish and meat in the region — every bite is a reminder of the richness of Baja’s coast and land. And to top it off? A handcrafted cocktail at The Green Room bar, watching the sunset melt into the Pacific… it doesn’t get better than that.||Villa Santa Cruz is more than a resort — it’s a destination, an experience, and a labor of love. Can’t wait for next year!

Villa Santa Cruz is magical! The property grounds are beautiful, lush, peaceful and private. It feels like a tropical oasis with so many gorgeous views of the beach, farm, greenery, pools and the most colorful sunsets. Every inch of this property has something beautiful to see! The rooms are so beautiful and comfortable. We stayed in the Venus room overlooking the Serenity pool. We loved the pops of color and local art (all of their art/pictures are for sale too!). We had a private roof deck with a small hot tub, fire pit table and couch seating…again with stunning views of the property and ocean! All of the details felt so intentional and intimate. The service was 10/10! Zuri greeted us upon arrival and was so sweet! Paul drove us into the town one of the days and was so knowledgeable about the hotel and the area. He gave so many great recommendations and talked so highly about Villa Santa Cruz. We could really feel how passionate he is about the property and the owners. Gustavo was so patient and friendly, always keeping up with our non stop orders of passionate fruit margaritas and quesadillas! Truly every single staff member was excellent and a huge part of making our stay fantastic. The staff uses Whatsapp to communicate and they were ON IT with all of our questions and requests whether it was arranging a car service same day, room service, activity recommendations, massages, etc. So friendly, accommodating and everybody went above and beyond for us! The food and drinks were delicious! Everything felt so fresh (they actually use several ingredients form the farm depending on what’s in season! so cool!). Breakfast was included and it was such a yummy set up overlooking the serenity pool area. It usually consisted of build your own breakfast tacos, yogurt with fruit and granola, THE BEST HOMEMADE cinnamon rolls, pastries, orange juice and green juice. They also offer pool service and room service. Definitely get the passion fruit margaritas and the quesadillas! We did a sunset horseback ride with JW and Hailey - couldn’t recommend this experience enough! We rode Padrino & Frijol - they were so adorable. We were lucky enough to get a stunning sunset too. Definitely recommend even just checking out the stables on the property and say hi to their donkey Philomena. If you like boutique, local, farm to table style with 5 star service and hospitality and incredible views…then this is THE place to be. We feel so grateful to have come across such a beautiful property and the sweetest people. What a vision the owners of Villa Santa Cruz had! Truly one of kind. We will be back!

We stayed in a lovely bungalow; charming, well appointed and immensely comfortable. Having our morning coffee delivered to our door and then enjoyed on our deck surrounded by tropical flowers was a real treat, matched at the end of the day by a glass of wine beside our personal fire table. The restaurants are all top notch with food picked freshly from the gardens of the resort. Everything at Villa Santa Cruz is carefully thought out to make sure you are well cared for and have a wonderful relaxing experience. Our 7 yr old grandaughter loved the horse riding lessons and the adults loved with fabulous grounds and seaside for strolling. We will go back again for certain!

As a travel advisor who specializes in boutique hotels, Villa Santa Cruz exceeded my expectations. If you are seeking a boutique hotel that's off the beaten path, with incredible grounds, authentic design, farm-to-table restaurants and great service, this is the spot for you. The hotel is just 15 minutes outside of town, but it feels completely secluded with a private beach at your fingertips. I recommend the bungalow rooms located near the pool. These rooms have beach views, a private patio with firepits, and easy access to everything on the property. We only stayed one night, but wished we had spent our entire trip here! Great for couples, honeymooners, families and special events.

My wife and I drove to Caracara for dinner from Cabo. Before dinner we walked over to the lounge bar at Villa Santa Cruz for a drink. She ordered a margarita and I got a double Fortaleza anejo on ice. When I went to settle the bill I was shocked to discover that the price of my drink was 820 pesos per ounce!!!! My 2 ounce drink was $90 usd for a tequila that costs $90 per bottle!! I explained to the bartender and the manager how I hadn't been given the pricing when ordering the drink and how it's insane to charge what an entire bottle costs for 2 ounces. It didn't seem like they had any authority or desire to remedy the situation. Admittedly, the location and place is gorgeous! I expect to pay a bit more for upscale locations, but there is a big difference between making someone feel welcome and making them feel stupid!!! Look at the menu carefully! One ounce of average tequila could cost more than your entire dinner!!

Yelp
Entire experience was exquisite. Hotel accommodations were 1st class, service was impeccable, food was 5 stars, everyone was nice and helpful. They even lite our beach bonfire nightly and brought us cocktails to the beach.

Yelp
Absolutely gorgeous accommodations. Wonderful drinks at the pool by Aaron. Delicious, fresh food. Access to a quiet, expansive beach with no one on it, and very little built on it. Fabulous staff. We stayed here for three days and had a terrific experience. I would recommend this hotel and resort to anyone.

Yelp
The villa is stunning. We stayed in suite Familia and our young adult children stayed in suite Coco for three nights. We loved every minute of our stay! The beach, palapa, pool, hot tub at the perfect temperature, the little swim up bar, scrumptious breakfasts, on-site ATV rental, massages by the ocean, diligent hospitality... what's there not to love? We've traveled all over the world and the stay at the Villa exceeded our expectations. Spent a day in Cabo with water sports, went to Cerritos Beach (nothing to write home about...) and took the ATVs to town, about a 12-min ride and for miles and miles of sand on the beach. So fun! Fish tacos in town were great. Dinner at Green Room, fire pit front, on the beach enjoying the sunset is a must! Everything was so beautiful... our rooms were spectacularly clean, which is something I can't say for too many places, even those with 4 or 5 stars, made the Villa standout. Their house and ground sleeping staff are to be commended!! Tiled floors are so clean one can literally see them glitter in the light. Every detail is cared for here with intention and beauty. Staff are friendly and efficient. Already booked my return visit!

Yelp
Hidden Gem with great service and delicious breakfast. If you go to Todos Santos stay here!

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Staff is out of this world, food and drinks are amazing, rooms are perfect. Right near the beach with breathtaking views. Would give 6 stars if I could.

Yelp
All in all the villa is outstanding and beautiful but if you don't rent out the whole thing with people you know, beware that you will be in very close quarters with other guests, for better or worse. This is a small boutique hotel with four guest rooms. The entire villa can also be rented out by one group. The property is one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed. The large grounds are meticulously kept. Beach front property with ample privacy and not much beach traffic nearby so it feels secluded. Gorgeous pool and jacuzzi overlooking the beach. Cozy palapa with hammocks and cushioned seating makes for a great reading nook or whale watching post. Spacious roof deck with gorgeous 360 views and a fire pit in case it gets chilly. The owners are incredibly friendly and gracious. They did an impeccable job outfitting the villa with reclaimed wood doors, specially commissioned Mexican floor and bath tiles, and unique glass ceiling lamps. The rooms feel comfortable and up-to-date while still giving an old traditional Mexican style. Coffee or tea is delivered to your door by 7am. Breakfast is served each morning at a communal table between 8:30am and 10am. Lunch and dinner can be provided upon request for an additional fee. The lights are turned down and the villa put to sleep for the night at 10pm. Despite its many wonderful features, I do have some reservations about the place that would cause me to think twice before staying here again. There is a shared dining room and living room on the first floor that all guests may use. The villa's second floor is open looking down on the first floor, in addition to an open stairwell connecting the two, so sound carries VERY easily, especially because of the tile floors and lack of soft surfaces to absorb noise. Thus you are at the mercy of your fellow guests and their level of consideration and social grace as to whether noise will be an issue when you are sleeping in the morning or relaxing at night. If you like quiet, if you are a late sleeper, or if you like to go to bed before 10pm, you may not like this place. The hotel owners are fairly hands off and trust their guests to be adults. The owners could probably help manage the noise situation by suggesting guests be mindful of each other, suggesting "quiet hours" or encouraging guests not to use the first floor common areas between 9pm and 8am, etc. Guests are able to eat dinner at the villa through the use of a private chef ($60 per person). It would be courteous to let other guests know if some housemates have reserved a chef so they can choose to plan an evening out if they don't want to trip over the dinner party happening in their shared villa.
