Hotel Villa Victoria | Best places to stay in Cote d'Azur

"Just outside the pedestrianised area of Old Nice, and a short walk to its beach, this affordable, light-filled boutique hotel has a large, sunny garden, bright with bougainvillea and scented with jasmine. Breakfast is served there on fine days, and when you’ve done your sightseeing, lounge chairs beckon for lazing with a drink from the bar – you can even join in a game of petanque. Recently renovated, rooms come in various sizes and soothing, modern colours; many have balconies, too. Try to get one overlooking the garden. The staff are charming and friendly, and there are a handful of parking spaces, too (first come, first served). " - Dana Facaros

My fiancé and I got married in the South of France and booked our room block with Hotel Villa Victoria. The location was perfect, close enough to the beach and lively but not too busy and near a bunch of great restaurants and cafes. The staff was incredibly kind and friendly. The hotel was full of charm and had a lovely boutique feel. It was the perfect location for our friends and family to experience Nice. We will definitely be saying here again!

Worth knowing the breakfasts are very good and very reasonable at €17pp which when compared to prices and quality on Nice promenade. We would recommend. ||Tram stop near to hotel with line directly to the airport. ||15 min walk to the Old Town and 10 mins to the train station. Villefranche-sur-Mer; Monte Carlo and Menton very easy to get to on the train and well worth visiting but do book tickets online as queues can be extremely long. Might be helpful to know if you buy tickets for more than one person the gates expect all travellers to enter at the same time using just one scan of the QR code. ||Our room had a balcony overlooking the attractive garden. Bed comfortable and aircon quiet and effective. Bathroom a nice size. Hairdryer very good. Only downside was the shower (over the bath) lacked power. ||We would stay again.

This is NOT a 4 star hotel. We stayed here for five nights and were disappointed. It should be considered a 2 star hotel. We booked the standard city view room. The room had chipping paint, scuff marks on the base boards, creaking doors and bed, loose toilet paper and hair dryer holders. The bathroom sink had scuffs in the bowl along with the shower floor. Overall the room didn’t feel clean, especially with the carpet floors. Hair conditioner was not provided at this 4 star hotel. There was no iron or ironing board either. The breakfast was average and pretty much the same thing everyday. I had to ask the young man working there to bring out more bread and jams as they were out. He was not very attentive to provide replacements for the breakfast items. The service provided by the staff is rather cold and dry. There were some evening workers that were nice. The female workers were a bit condescending with their responses. It’s about a 10 min walk to the beach, which is the only good benefit. This hotel tainted our stay in Nice. There was an option to cancel 24 hours before and I wish I had taken advantage of that. After our first night I called asking about cancellation options for the remainder of our trip, but I was told I wouldn’t get a refund because the director is on vacation. So then I asked if someone was covering for her and I was told no. Once again, not sure how a 4 star hotel doesn’t have a covering manager or director as they stated.

This place was a gem! Spent a whole week here and it was great! It was clean, the staff was very helpful and kind. The room was a decent size- especially for Europe and the bathroom was quite large too (with a rain shower). The bath products we from a local perfumer, Fragonard, and were very nice. The front desk was always staffed so we never had an issue getting our key, even late at night. The best part about the hotel was the location. It was about 10 min to the train station, and less than 10 to the Promenade and beach. We could easily walk to the old town and all of the shopping and restaurants we wanted to visit. The street itself seemed a little more quiet which I loved, but if you walked a couple of blocks in either direction you could find so many fun things! I also thought the price for our stay was very reasonable especially for it being such a busy travel season! I would totally stay here again and highly recommend.

There was a mix-up about the room requested, which didn't make a great start to our stay. However, it turns out that this was not the hotel's fault. It was that of the agent of our agent, but the effect on us, the customers, remained. The garden was great. The staff were generally very good .The situation is fine for the town, station, sea-front etc.|Breakfast was pretty good. The room was small, but comfortable, with adequate storage and the shower/hot water worked well. Bottled water was replaced daily. I would offer a constructive suggestion that a rail might be fixed down one side of the steps into the garden for people with mobility issues. We witnessed a few people struggling to get down the stairs.

My daughters and I stayed here while in Nice. They upgraded us to a garden view room on arrival - a nice surprise. The room was spacious for 3 people and we had a lovely balcony with a few chairs where we could see the garden. The bathroom was really large for European hotels, and it was nice that it was in a hallway, separate from the sleeping area. The rooms have air conditioning, which is a big plus for the summer. The breakfast was reasonably priced with a big selection of items, and we ate in the garden every morning (there is an inside option). The front desk staff were very nice and helpful with questions. The location is great - less than 10 minute walk from Nice-Ville train station and the tram line to the airport. Close to the beach and restaurants and shops. Despite all that, the part of the road it sits on is quiet. Would recommend staying here!

This hotel is 3 stars maximum. It isn’t a 4 star hotel. If you are a fan of the old TV series Fawlty Towers, you will love this hotel. Their website states rooms have soundproofing. Not sure where if you want to hear the people in the next room going to the toilet and know EXACTLY what they are doing, I kid you not, this hotel is for you. I could go on but no point. Lots of weird stuff. Will not return here ever. Sorry.

Adequate room size and bathroom for European hotels. Located in a lovely residential part of the city. Beautiful backyard with tables and seating for breakfast or relaxation. Breakfast was well organized with a variety of items. Close to trains and other transportation and within walking distance to the water. Air conditioned rooms. Motion detector outside the bathroom in the foyer can be annoying at night. Staff reserved but pleasant. FYI some garden facing rooms have trees or bushes that obstruct garden views. Several of my friends were sensitive to sounds from the room above at night which affected sleep quality, but otherwise an enjoyable stay. Appreciated two free waters each day and daily housekeeping services.

Yelp
Villa Victoria is perfectly located to see all the touristy Nice locations. I had blown my knee and was unable to explore the city as much as I had hoped but the Mr was able to walk to get us coffee, retrieve pain relief & cooling pads from a nearby pharmacy and Old Town was short distance for him to check out while I tended my issue. Driving to museums and dinners was super easy and convenient from this location as well. We were impressed! The rooms were large and completely quiet. We never heard our neighbors! We overlooked the garden and would choose these rooms again. Shower products were from Galimard, free water every day and parking was available for 20€ per day which was a bargain for the city and given my knee issue, having on site parking was most appreciated Thank you for the lovely stay! Looking forward to a repeat visit!

Yelp
Loved this hotel. Stately, wonderfully run establishment. Just spacious enough with onsite breakfast option. Perfect central location on a beautiful street. Check out the rear yard with a couple of friendly cats (Victoria is like 20 years old). Staff was exceptional.

Yelp
My family and I really enjoyed our recent stay and would happily have stayed longer. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. Our rooms were good. The beds were comfortable and the toiletries were good quality. The location is fine. The breakfast was really varied and the foods on offer were top notch. The private courtyard was charming. This place has much more character than the cookie-cutter corporate hotels, and staying at small distinctive hotels is a big part of the travel experience.

Yelp
Was frankly disappointed with this hotel. The rooms need updating. The bed was uncomfortable because the mattress was covered with some kind of crackly plastic. We could hear people walking back and forth above us half the night. It was a good location half way between the train station and the beach and it is old so the ceilings are high and the air conditioning is ok. Nice window to the courtyard. I would not stay there again. I forgot to add that their towels are old and a dingy tan color so who knows whether they are clean or not? And they have a cat which lives in their courtyard and it has fleas. I am very allergic to flea bites and after sitting in the courtyard, I ended up with several flea bites. At least I hope they are flea bites and not something worse which may have something to do with the plastic covered mattresses.
