For a short , Xmas /New Year break, one where visitors are happy to explore the city centre and discover Malaga’s main attractions by foot , the Hotel Vincci Larios Diez is absolutely ideal. Standard rooms are more than sufficient for a couple if you plan to hit the streets rather than stay in the room all day. Ours wasn’t particularly big but it was neat, tidy , functional and had all of the typical , hotel accessories you would expect at a decent 4* hotel . It also came with an unusual ( but pleasant) surprise , i.e. a Japanese style toilet that gave an ’after event ’ wash AND blow dry 😂.|| The staff couldn’t have been nicer . The reception team responded quickly to pre arrival emails re transport options in from the airport . Post arrival, the whole team ( bellboys, reception staff, guest experience , housekeeping and restaurant workers ) then all showed a ’ can do, ’ helpful attitude. Everyone employed at the hotel seemed to be basically lovely people or the recipient of first class training aimed at delivering good service. Whichever it was ( it could even be both ) it definitely enhanced our stay. ||We booked to have breakfast at the hotel each day and the food available appeared fresh, plentiful and capable of satisfying most tastes . We ate twice in the evenings in the hotel restaurant , albeit once was a result of an outside restaurant booking being cancelled (for understandable reasons) . On both occasions the tasty food was served promptly, presented nicely and seemed pretty much in line with other city centre restaurants re cost. No complaints at all re food. ||As we stayed right at the beginning of the year , ’ on street ’ Christmas lights were in abundance throughout the city centre . Those in Calle Marques de Larios are particularly enchanting and the 10:00 pm light show on the street that staff told us about was a big tourist draw . ||There were some really nice touches in and around the hotel that caught the eye . Daily tips from employees outlining their suggestions for visitors or the things that they liked best about the city were posted in the lifts. Our trip also coincided with my birthday . I had no expectations of any favourable treatment as a result of that but while we we were out for the day , staff who had clearly taken note of my passport details or a ’ one off’ comment in a pre arrival email, popped in to our room . They left a birthday card, a bottle of bubbly and some cake , as well as writing a personal greeting message on one of the room mirrors . That personal touch was both unexpected and appreciated. After a long day of tourist activity , the cake and bubbly were enjoyed with relish . ||It’s a big world and I’d like to see as much of it as is possible before my time is up but everyone at the hotel did their utmost to try and make us want to return. If that was their aim they probably succeeded. ||Thank you for a lovely stay !
