Chef Bernhard Mairinger Opens Sleek Lustig Restaurant in Culver City | Eater LA

"I learned that Mairinger developed a passion for cheese early in his career when he was tasked with managing immense cheese programs at Zürserhof in Austria, experience he later brought to his work at Patina and now to Lustig’s rolling cheese cart." - Matthew Kang

This hotel is more than a hotel. It’s an unparalleled experience combining both the highest levels of service and food with a convivial and congenial atmosphere. The impressively professional and kind Skardarasy family are ever present and the staff approach their work with care and as if it was their own business too. It’s incredible that they often predict your next question or request and have answered it before you’ve even thought to ask it yourself. ||The food is outstanding. The rooms (mine was a standard double, old style) are fastidiously clean and well appointed - extraordinarily large and in superb working order. |The spa facilities are superb and well attended and clean at all times. ||Every staff member is of the highest standard. Even roles that are less integral to the operation of the hotel - the egg station man at breakfast, the sauna infusion master, the hairdresser, the ski room guys. So impressive. ||You leave this hotel with a feeling of contentment, relaxation and rejuvenation, but also with a sense of sadness at not being able to stay longer. ||If we manage to come to this hotel again we will count ourselves very lucky indeed.

Hotel owners were nice and welcoming but the hotel was overpriced when compared to similar properties in the Alps including Switzerland with absolute no atmosphere and full of big groups of men on a boys trip. Hospitality staff were all nice and tried their best but many untrained. Cleaning staff was excellent - the highlight! Manager was useless probably because we weren’t returning guests. We left a few days early as the snow was poor and we weren’t loving the atmosphere of the hotel. Got charged € 5000 for leaving early after a ten/eleven day stay with the hotel at 40% capacity but don’t regret the decision as we had a great finish to our holiday in the Engadine. I wouldn’t book again and wouldn’t recommend knowing what else is around in the same class category - perhaps the 80% returning guests should explore a bit. The most incapable with the most attitude was the young reception staff at the hotel. Ugly spa facilities! Food was good but nothing special. The egg station at breakfast is the weirdest cooking station I have ever experienced staffed by an equally weird chef (Chef???). Out of 7 hotels all five star this was the second worst in our opinion.

I've just experienced a real treat staying at this top class hotel. The staff are very friendly and professional ,food is excellent as are the spa and sports areas.|Hiring skis is a simple process from the ski shop in the basement, ski passes organised by reception. |Easy Access to the piste makes a stay at this hotel a real treat.

Six Stars We visited Zürserhof on a ski trip with our two sons on the recommendation of a friend who has the best travel advice of anyone we know. His batting average remains unblemished: Zürserhof was fantastic in every way. The location in Zurs turned out to be fantastic since it had the best snow of all the interconnected mountains on account of having the highest elevation. It is a short walk to the lift. The in-house Brandle ski shop had all the gear we need. (Note: The sister shop of the same name near the gondola was simply amazing at fixing our sons' boots.) The ski lockers for storing skis had the added bonus of heated boot lockers. The dining was fantastic, as was the dining room itself. One of the very best breakfast buffets we've ever seen. Dinners were terrific also, with the bonus of amazing salad and cheese bars. An extensive wine list with prices that were fair. What set the meals apart, however, was the service. The maître d' (Luca?) was amazingly attentive. All the servers were terrific also, with a special callout to one server who we had most often (name escapes us), but it would be hard to differentiate among the staff given how constantly stellar the service was, including at the comfy lounge. We frequently also saw family member owners checking in with guests (including us). The rooms were terrific. Our sons stayed in a standard room, which was more than adequate for them. We stayed in a suite, which we really enjoyed also. Both had second toilets, which is a nice bonus. Our only nags would be my wife found the mattress a bit firm, the pillows could be a bit thicker, and we had to crack the windows at night to get the room as cold as we like (which is pretty cold), but that is typical to mountain accommodations everywhere we go. What else? The front desk staff (basically, concierge) were very helpful in setting up off-property dining, sending a shuttle to pick us up, or whatever help we needed, before, during or even after our stay. For reference, when we stay at hotels, we typically stay at properties at the Ritz Carlton level, albeit preferring boutique brands where you are a guest the staff remembers by name and the service a bit more personalized. Züserhof lived up to that expectation in every way.

The people in the Zurserhoff set it aside and make it a fantastic holiday where every member of the family is looked after.||From start to finish our family felt so welcome and cared for due to the very attentive team in this hotel.||Luka runs the restaurant with energy, fun pride and a world clsss attention to detail and he spares time between all that to make the kids laugh. ||Maria in the kids clubs is adored by the kids and when she was sick for a day or two she proved impossible to replace. ||Mika downstairs in the rental shop was also loved by the kids and so helpful. Nothing was a problem.||The reception were so helpful it was like having a Sherpa. As was Christina before the trip. ||To have one of Ireland’s finest musician; Eddie Friel play piano and sing songs every night at the bar was something very special.||The quality of cuisine would match any top restaurant globally. The spa is super.||The culture of service and friendliness is second to none. ||We’ll be back.

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Hotel Zurserhof. ||||This hotel is really spectacular both in terms of facilities but more importantly in terms of a level of service which is truly exceptional. The family Skardarasy who own the hotel have a level of pride in the establishment obvious in the attention to every detail, the extra effort every member of staff makes to ensure all guests are made to feel at home and the warmth with which every visitor is treated. ||||Christina, the reception manager, deserves particular mention for her unstinting efforts to ensure we had an absolutely marvellous holiday. From the time I started emailing reception to plan the trip, she was a wonderful source of information and support - nothing was too much trouble, and she personally answered emails early in the morning and late at night. We had a magnificent room with a view over the mountains, which was a fantastic treat. ||||The spa is truly exceptional and massage therapists Bianca and Viktoria were superb. The last time we visited the only suggestion I could think of for improvement was that some English magazines might be provided in the spa as well as German reading material. When we arrived to the spa relaxation area this time I found Vanity Fair, Elle, Glamour, The New York Times and many more.||||The location is ideal - genuinely ski in /out and the ski room and service run by Strolz staffed by knowledgeable and helpful staff, preventing any lost time in organising equipment. ||||What we liked best was the feel that we were truly welcome and the warmth and friendliness of the staff - without exception - thoughout the hotel. ||||This place is really one of a kind. We will be back.

Hotel Zürserhof is a charming hotel, it has a rustic feel given its decorations and furnitures. The room is roomy for a single occupant. I was really amused by the furnishings in the bathroom as everything is gold plated, from the taps to the pipes. I had a stunning view from my window on the Zürs ski mountain. I was there for 2 nights and we're blessed with good sunshine, clear blue sky which is perfect for skiing. The hotel has an awesome facility on spa treatment and ski rental equipments coupled with friendly and helpful who was patient in choosing the right ski shoes, ski for my size. ||I had all my meals at the hotel it was sumptuous and boast a good variety on the buffet spread for both breakfast and lunch. The staffs from the housekeeping, front desk to the restaurant were attentive and friendly.||I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the hotel (I was there for 3 days ski off-site), wished I have more time at the resort, definitely worth returning.
