Hou Fish Market - Review - Kaka’ako - Oahu - The Infatuation

"If you’re near Ala Moana Beach and have your seafood blinders on, Hou Fish Market is the move. The counter-service spot hiding behind a Public Service is where you’ll find a truly glorious seared salmon bowl over rice—the hunks of fresh fish are buttery and half-torched, and the whole thing is blanketed in an unagi sauce-mayo drizzle. They also have nigiri, rolls, and sushi platters the size of a hubcap, ideal for big birthday parties or beach picnics." - Julia Chen

The poke options are not bad, only this was the salad was tough to eat with the rough cut romaine. Fish was tasty

Friends asked us what we would like to eat because they were taking us to watch the fireworks and they always get dinner here. From the menu we ordered 2 Aloha Bowls and then threw in some shrimp sushi. Our problem was we were used to the typical Waikiki bowl size whereas the Hou Fish Market bowls are bigger. First a warning the wasabi is a killer as it should be but i think it gets toned down at most places - not here. The fish roe and fish pieces were fresh and tasty. The noodle salad was a new taste for us and the rest of the bowl was nice. I couldn't finish the rice and we had to have the sushi for breakfast the next day. Definitely worth a try.

Great food and not expensive. The salmon and tuna were excellent. Chicken taryaki was also rather good and made the kids happy. Lots of fun non alcoholic drinks. Small seating area but they were able to seat our group of ten.

Unagi (eel) had bones in it, and overall, the taste of nigiri was very unremarkable. C+

Love this place, was suggested by local person and it was a gem .. local grab for fresh poke bowl, sashimi and rolls and so much more ! Lovely please come eat here

Google
We really enjoy the fish here. Everything is made to order and done with care. The fish is always very delicate and tender and the rolls are made beautifully. They make good sushi rice and don't overpack it on the sushi or the rolls. My favorite thing to eat is their Hamachi! My husband enjoys the salmon and tuna. We usually split a California roll if we're feeling extra hungry. $50 for the 3 items.

Google
Excellent poke. There isn’t much to say: The rice is well-seasoned, the sauce is tasty, and the fish is both tasty and generous. Portion size is perfect, in my opinion. Smoothie was good, but the paper straw disintegrated too easily. Environmentally-friendly but not very usable.

Yelp
First time here. My wife had a hamachi poke salad ($17.95) and I had a salmon poke salad ($16.95) with optional crab salad ($2). They came with avocados and a sesame dressing. The portions were very generous and tasted extremely fresh and delicious at a very reasonable price. Plenty of free parking in the back behind the Public Storage building. Very small restaurant with a few tables inside and outside, nothing fancy but comfortable. Order at the front counter. The workers were very courteous and helpful. Didn't see a restroom. We frequently eat at different poke restaurants where we're from and Hou Fish Market is one of the best we've ever eaten at. We will definitely come again.

Yelp
Tucked away on the maki side of Kapiolani Blvd and Kamakee St this sushi restaurant has small indoor seating area and slightly larger outdoor eating area. Geared more towards takeout orders the selection is quite extensive with reasonable pricing although it does add up quickly when you are Ono for some fresh sushi. Service is speed is reasonable for the limited amount of staff available during our visit on a Sunday evening. The sushi dishes tasted fresh, although at the prices I'm sure it's previously frozen Ahi, a good selection from regular sushi, rolls and bowls are available. Only soda and some smoothies milk teas with or without boba are available, if you want any alcoholic beverages you'll need to BYOB. Friendly service, great selection, and reasonable prices to satisfy that sushi food fix I would recommend this location especially prior to any events being held at the Blaisdell just across the road.

Yelp
Tried this poke bowl place for the first time today after my work meeting. We picked up a mix salmon deluxe bowl and the dragon roll. This place was pretty popular for takeout because as I was deciding on what to get, 2 people came in to pick up their food. After I finallllyyy decided on what to get, we waited for a short while and the food was ready. We took it back to the office to eat while we continued working and it was the perfect lunch work meal. My poke bowl was fresh and had a generous amount of shoyu ahi poke, crab salad, cucumbers, avocado, and salmon. The poke was lightly seasoned with shoyu and didn't overpower the other items in the bowl. Surprisingly, I liked the crab salad too. There are plenty of open tables for people to dine in and normally, we would have if we didn't have to work. The staff was friendly and patient with me while I was deciding on what to order too.

Yelp
I've been wanting to check this place out since they opened as they were located right across my alma mater. I finally made my way with Emily R. when I was visiting Hawaii. It's located in the building where the Public Storage and AT&T reside across of McKinley High School on Kapiolani Blvd in Ward. There's a parking lot with ample stalls in the back of the building on Kamakee St. There's a small dining area in the shop where they'll serve you. It was kind of confusing as it seemed like a takeout spot and sit anywhere that's open. Not too sure. But Emily and I were both served by one of the workers. I got their Seared Salmon Bowl with Crab Salad (extra $2), and the portions were beautifully assembled and huge (peep at pics)! What a deal for the amount of food we got, I would say! I don't think the fish was the freshest but still very good as the seared mayo with the unagi sauce added soooo much flavor, YUM! The crab salad wasn't overly mayo-y either, giving the perfect balance to the heavy unagi flavor. It was quite good that I came back another time during the another trip to get it again because I was craving it! It also helped that they opened quite early as well. Overall, a great place for a decent priced sushi, sushi platters, and kaisendons/specialty bowls. Would love to come back to try their spicy ahi bowl in the future. There are a lot of competitions around the area so it's definitely based on preference!

Yelp
This place has become my go-to for a quick and easy dinner. The workers here are friendly and there's something on the menu for everyone. They have poke bowls, salads, teriyaki bowls, udon, and more. I tried a couple of different things but I keep going back to their seared salmon bowl. I'm usually a spicy ahi girl but their salmon is so tasty and fresh. They even have a variety of different drinks. I only tried their mango smoothie so far and it is so yummy! There's a bunch of parking in the lot but it's close enough to me where I can simply walk. I can't wait for my next bowl :)

Yelp
The poke bowls at Hou Fish Market are very good. They are made to order using fresh Fish. I like it here, not only for the selection, but because there is inside and outside seating, free parking behind the storage facility and a dog menu! I didn't have my dog taste test it, so she can't give it a review. Maybe next time. Along with the usual poke bowls, there are platters, udon, and salads. And, there are lots of drinks... milk teas, fruit teas, and smoothies.

Yelp
Hou Fish Market is a great spot to grab a quick, fresh bite of fish. To me, it's similar quality to Domo Cafe but they have more variety plus the seared salmon bowls that I love. I placed an online order and it was ready in 15 minutes tops. I love that they're open on the later side which is rare for a poke place. I got the seared salmon bowl, which comes with a generous portion of salmon and their addictive garlic mayo, seared just right. There's seating inside plus a variety of Asian snacks and drinks to supplement your meal. I will definitely keep coming back here! Next time I need to try their milk tea, I've been meaning to try it and saw that they offer a combo deal with a spicy ahi bowl.

Yelp
Got the seared salmon bowl and nan let me just say that it is unlike anything I ever tasted before! Truly unique and amazing! If u like cooked salmon and poke, it's a perfect combination of the two and the sauce is creamy and savory. Definitely would get it again! 5 stars! I also got the spicy tuna and milk tea boba $20 combo. I believe the $20 combo only applies to just those two combined. But I will say both were above average for their category and for the price, I wouldnt mind getting it again. There's plenty of seating inside and outside and you can park in the back where the storage parking lot is. Love the place and will definitely come again :)

Yelp
Got a pretty basic sushi combo. The fish was fresh and delicious though. This place is always relatively quiet (not it a bad way) and the employees are friendly. I'll definitely be back again

Yelp
We passed by Hou Fish Market so many times and finally decided to try it! Located right by the AT&T and Public Storage facility, this shop is unassuming and truly a hidden gem. We order sushi platters here and they've never failed to disappoint. The fish quality is fresh and the sushi rolls are always packed. I always place my orders using their website. It's helpful that you can order ahead too, especially on the weekends and holidays when they tend to get busy.

Yelp
I love how fresh and clean the sashimi is at Hou Fish Market! I thoroughly enjoyed my sashimi (tuna, salmon, hamachi) salad this evening! So Oishi and satisfying, and I also enjoyed the fresh & crispy salad with miso dressing too. I'm on a keto diet, so this meal was perfect! Loved it from beginning to end, and I can't wait to come back again very soon! Mahalo nui loa!

Yelp
I have ordered the sushi deluxe platter twice within the last month for two different occasions. Both times, people have come up and commented "this is the best takeout sushi I've ever eaten." I agree, so HOU FISH MARKET on Kapiolani is my Fav for takeout sushi platters for the time being. The quality of the seafood on top of the rice is better than what you get elsewhere. Prices are reasonable and service execution has been spot on. I just call it in and it's ready when I get there. It's a beautiful, clean little outlet with a convenient parking lot. I'll need to try the Waipahu location closer to home next.

Yelp
I stopped by Hou's Fish Market on the way to having a mini picnic with my fiancé. The service is quick for grab and go. We waited around 5 minutes or so for them to put together our seared salmon bowl. There's indoor or outdoor tables to eat Parking is convenient too in the lot where the storage is. The fish here is pretty fresh and good tasting and portions aren't too bad. I love that the sushi rice isn't piping hot. Personally, I hate when hot rice cooks the poke, but the rice isn't NOT warm either, haha. I would come again if I'm in the area!

Yelp
We visited Hou Fish Market on a whim since we were in the area, and I was surprised to see the huge variety of poke bowls, sushi, sashimi and udon. We got the Hou Melody Bowl, Rainbow Roll and Torched Salmon Bowl. I really liked the torched salmon, because of all the charred flavors and fattiness of the salmon pieces. The Hou Melody Bowl had way too much shoyu that it was practically drowning in it, and the Rainbow Roll was okay, nothing special there's a few tables inside and outside, but since it's a little sketchy outside I'd suggest eating inside or taking it to go. You can park at the Self Storage parking right behind the shop.

Yelp
I ordered their hamachi kama with spicy poke and my husband ordered their beef sukiyaki. I crave hamachi kama and not that many places makes them. Im impressed that this little sit down or take out place even offers it. I highly recommend this place. So ono! Also we did for here and the staff bought our drinks (strawberry banana smoothie, and calamansi juice) they were super good as well. Oh as for the beef sukiyaki it was really good. Do not let this small take out joint fool you, highly recommend.

Yelp
Hou Fish Market offers an extensive menu of salads, fish bowls, maki rolls, nigiri, udon, and platter meals - they also have boba available. We came here to grab a quick lunch, ordering a Mix Hamachi Deluxe Bowl, a Sashimi Deluxe Bowl, and a Hou Fish Platter that came with 32 pieces. While the portions are generous, the fish was just okay - it could have been more fresh, as some had a fishy taste/odor to them. Staff were friendly, and the ambiance inside is super casual. +not-so-fresh fish

Yelp
Been going here for the past 2 years and it is my absolute fave. I get the Hou Melody Bowl (shoyu) each time. Unfortunately prices have increased in the past two years, but i think it's worth it considering it comes with ahi, hamachi, AND salmon. My favorite shoyu poke bowl on the island.
google avatar

kristie k.

Yelp
Staff was really nice but quality of the fish wasn't great. Most pieces had next to no flavor. Wouldn't go back unfortunately
google avatar

Casey H.

Yelp
A good lunch for us. We purchased the seared salmon bowl and carried it home. There is alot of mayo on the salmon would be the only caution, at least on our bowl. The price and quality was pretty standard. Overall good for a quick bite! They also exist on UberEats :) One thing I didn't see on the menu that they offer is a seared ahi bowl, but it is an extra $1. For what its worth, in my experience they offer a lot of discounts that come and go monthly, so ask at checkout and they might have something to knock a few $$ off!

Yelp
Where can you get a sashimi platter without reservations on New Years Eve? That's right, nowhere...except here! Thank goodness not too many people know about this place yet because I was able to order a sashimi platter with 27 pieces (see pic) over the phone on New Years Eve for $52.95 Better quality than Kozo, Aloha Sushi and other similar "fast food" sushi places. I also ordered the nigiri combo, udon set, and teriyaki chicken bowl too. Great place to grab quick meals. Online ordering wasn't working so I had to call to place the order. I would order again from here for my next party.

Yelp
2nd time ordering Hou Fish Sushi Platter - 32 pieces. Great quality nigiri and decent prices! Mahalo!
google avatar

Ann C.

Yelp
Reasonably priced and decent poke spot in Kakaako. My favorite is their garlic salmon, hamachi, tuna, ebi nigiri set (2 pcs of each for $15) - the fish is all slightly seared and some pieces are topped with a glaze or mayo. Love the contrast of the warm tops with the room temp sushi rice beneath. Definitely a nice change of pace from the usual poke over rice if you're looking for something a little different. The udon was disappointing, the broth was so light it was nearly tasteless, but the noodles cooked well. Would def pass on the udon next time. Service is good but can be a little slow during peak times so would call ahead if you can, they run a busy takeout side. They also seem to do a lot of large platters for parties and offer specials/discounts on their website.

Yelp
Hou Fish Market is located on Kapiolani Blvd, right by the Public Storage. There is a free parking lot in the back of the building! I live close to this location so I usually walk over. The shop is pretty small - just a few tables inside & a few more outside. It's also very clean inside! We do takeout from Hou fairly often. We really like their seared salmon bowl. I like to add extra ikura on there because.. why not? lol. We also really love their gyoza. The gyoza reminds me of how my parents used to make it so maybe it's just nostalgic. Anyways, the dipping sauce is vinegary which I like (add some chili crunch.. extra yum)! Recently (Labor Day), they had a free dog sushi special! Lol. I made a takeout order for some salmon & ahi sashimi for myself, & a salmon sushi for my doggo, Hina. I can be picky with ahi sashimi since I've been burned too many times with fish that isn't fresh :( but luckily both the salmon & ahi tasted great. And Hina definitely enjoyed her meal too!

Yelp
Delicious and good quality sushi for a casual fast kine setting!! We tried the deluxe salmon and spicy ahi bowl (added seaweed salad for $2). It comes with crab salad and avocado. Tamago nigiri is hubby's fav so he had to get that (said it was good). The spicy ahi was really good quality fish- melts in your mouth and not covered in overpowering sauce and mayo. Salmon was fatty and fresh. Spicy ahi inari we're also yummy! BYOB. Dog friendly. Parking galore. Really nice service and they make your order fresh. All wonderful things that get this to a 5 star rating.

Yelp
Came here for an early dinner with a friend one day and I'm glad she recommended this place! We both got the seared salmon bowl with a side of crab salad. For the price and the amount, it's such a good deal! At the end of the meal, we were stuffed! There's a few seats to sit and eat inside. The service was fast and good. The worker was very helpful answering our questions since it was both our first times. Definitely worth checking out if you're looking for a good hole in the wall spot.

Yelp

I chose Hamachi Poke Salad. The sesame flavored dressing was also delicious. Of course, balls and sushi are also on the menu. Eat-in is also available. Because there is a special menu for 4th July It's good to check Instagram. @HOU_FISH_MARKET When I have a house party, I want to come and buy it again.

Yelp
A place to get affordable poke bowls. It's next to the high school so a lot of high school kids come here too. Their fresh was fresh, but I wouldn't say it was of the top quality. The prices were very reasonable. It's a good stop to get your sashimi fix at a good price point. The staff were friendly too and the food came out quickly. There were tables inside and a few outside too if you want some fresh air. Their menu was quite extensive for a small shop like this. They got nigiris, rolls and soup noodles too! It might be hard to find at first. It's tucked in the back of the small plaza but it's the corner of Kapiolani and Kamakee St.
google avatar

Ceivy M.

Yelp
The fruit tea was amazing! Definitely recommend for a anyone wanting a refreshing drink. When we went in, we were the only patrons there at the time. It was pretty quiet and peaceful. It could be because GPS takes you to a storage facility, so it's a little hard to find if you come in from the parking lot. The food was made pretty quickly and the staff was very chill. I'll def be back.

Yelp
We went to Oahu for our honeymoon in the middle of July. On our last day my husband was not feeling great so we wanted something that was fresh and for hice grilled. We decided to go to Hou Fish Market. The menu was really detailed and it didn't take us that long to decide what to get. I went with Aloha Bowl and my husband got Garlic Salmon. The poke bowl was so good! The fish was fresh and mixing everything together was bomb! My husband said the salmon was grilled perfectly and the rice settled his stomach. The place nice and quaint. Our food did take a while to come out, but mostly because they were grilling the salmon, but all in all this place is a must! Fresh fish and great ambiance! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I first heard of this place because of their Valentines special. I begged.... or coerced... or manipulated someone to get me their Valentines special (see photo). I would have never known this place existed if it wasn't for their Valentines special. I just wish they would have their valentines special as their regular menu item. LOCATION: Off of Kapiolani Blvd., across McKinley High School, next to AT&T PARKING: You can park in the AT&T and Self-Storage parking lot. There's always lots of parking in this area. SERVICE: The girls that work here are so sweet! Wish I could put them in my pocket and take them home with me haha COST: I'd say their poke is about average price and affordable. FOOD: The quality of their fish is pretty fresh! The consistency of their rice was spot on too. Their store also has tasty drink options which I forgot to pick up when I was there. Their bowls and bento options are really good! Also, the store has some tables inside and out that you can use to enjoy their food. I'm really glad this place popped up, because its at a convenient location, away from the mall traffic and the quality of their fish is good. Definitely coming back here again.

Yelp
I walked half an hour to and from my job to finally try one of their poke bowls. I've actually come here twice so it's a good time for a review. Back in December, I believed I ordered their Aloha Platter because I remember the seared nigiris. Perfect size for a group of 12. I remember the fish being fresh and still tasted fresh after sitting on the dining table for a hot minute so that's good. Last week, I wanted to kill time at work so decided to make the journey to get a poke bowl. I opted for the seared salmon bowl because I love ordering that at other places. Hou Fish's seared salmon bowl isn't my favorite compared to others I've tried. It's good, but I think the unagi sauce is too sweet for my taste. Regardless, the salmon was still fresh and buttery with every bite so that's a plus. The sear was great and even but idk, I couldn't get past the sweet unagi, but that's just me! I'd recommend this place if you're ever in the area. I see the other reviews that they have dog options. Love that concept! Hopefully next time I come, I can run into some doggy customers or even bring my own.

Yelp
UPDATE: September 2023 All the prices went up a buck or two. I get it that their pricing went up, but now its approaching $20 for the larger bowls and I'll probably go elsewhere to get full if I'm really hungry. Pioneer Saloon Kakaako is nearby, and I'll probably go there as their fish plates excluding ahi are still $16

Yelp
Spicy Ahi Bowl! YUM! Decided to try this out today and they did not disappoint.. First of all, Portion size Reasonable! Salmon Bowl was absolutely fresh but my favorite is the Spicy Ahi Bowl. Service was amazing! Ambiance was cute and very clean! A lot of tables to sit inside or dine outside as well. Great place to study and enjoy Milk Tea + Boba ~ They have many options, fresh ahi and lots of beverages. Highly recommend trying this place if your in the area! Located next to AT&T & Storage. Lots of parking and such a convenient location.

Yelp
Overall 5 Stars: Great casual dining or takeout sushi spot with plenty of parking and seating. We have been there twice and are planning to get our pup a special dinner for the holidays! They have a doggie menu also, details below... Food 5 Stars: The food was better than what I expected from a casual takeout sushi restaurant. On our first trip there I got the hou melody bowl which hit the spot when I was hungry. The hou melody bowl has a mixture of ahi, salmon, hamachi, and ikura in a sauce of your choosing. I choose the shoyu sauce. We also ordered the ikura masago ahi salmon sushi set. All the fish was prepared perfectly and tasted great! Dog Food 5 Stars: We came here because we had a gift card from one of our doggie friends. So our dog Tiko had to try out both things on the doggie menu (on two separate occasions). There is salmon with rice or chicken with rice. Both were devoured by Tiko! She absolutely loves them! She usually doesn't eat rice but she eats it all up from Hou Fish Market! Service 5 Stars: The staff there are very friendly and helpful. The food came out quick and fresh.

Yelp
My sister highly recommended this place after randomly finding it one day after she had missed the bus and really wanted to go back so we ended up all going for dinner together at around 7pm. Having had some bad luck with sushi/poke at some other highly rated (and pricey) places on the island, I was a bit skeptical. However, I was very very wrong! This place has some insanely good quality fish at a very reasonable price. I've always been a salmon lover over tuna just because salmon is usually a lot more buttery and smooth than tuna is but the tuna here was surprisingly really tender! I also always say that the sushi rice will make or break a dish and the rice here did not disappoint. It was seasoned very well and complimented the fish perfectly. We ended up getting the Mixed Salmon Deluxe Bowl with the spicy option and the Seared Salmon Bowl and both were extremely delicious! We also ended the night with Jasmine milk tea with regular sugar level that was freshly brewed. The boba was nice and soft and the flavor of the drink was light but tasty and definitely on the less sweet side. Highly recommend coming here for some insanely delicious poke! I'll for sure be coming back especially since it's close to where I live!

Yelp
The day before Thanksgiving where I get to cook traditional foods, such as Turkey, stuffing and so on, I figure I would like to treat myself to take out. I was intrigued of this place after seeing a partnership advertisement on Instagram. I pre ordered online about a week ago for a hamachi donburi (I really loved) I added massago (orange fish eggs) and Hou Fish market pre-mixed the raw hamachi with shoyu-wasabi. I was kind of let down with the ohana platter I ordered. Presentation was up and service of getting food on time was on point. I just thought the sushi rice they used was not well marinated. The shrimp tempura used in the dragon maki with unagi on top and tempura roll with spicy ahi on top was mediocre. What I feel could of been better was the tempura being more crispy. Upon getting home and enjoying dinner with family. The bites were more on the soft chewy side. Not sure if they leave their shrimp tempura out that day due to being busy with a lot of orders. What I really enjoyed was the garlic torched Mayo on the ebi nigiri. California maki with the imitation crab was also delicious. I kind of wish they used a Cali maki as a base instead of the tempura now. They also made the portion well. I would suggest to eat sushi same day. After parking in the lot behind of the restaurant (near the self storage), the place was easy to find in front facing McKinley High School. They have a cozy space for patrons to dine in. Furniture is on modern side and vibe is causal. While I came in to acknowledge I was there for my pick up there was two people eating who looked like they were enjoying their sushi order. This restaurant has many options and so I would like to try again on a time where it's not a holiday. Like I said the hamachi was bomb! The clerk who also made the platter came up and handed me my order in hand. That was very thoughtful.

Yelp
Look did you know there's a fresh newbie here and I don't mean just the fish. Hou Fish Market occupies what used to be Wave Tea which I was sadden and had no idea had closed but did you know they also have tea here as well? They do have an impressive list of Milk Tea varieties including several types of fruit teas including my personal favorite Mix Fruit Tea, if that's not your cup of tea they also have Honey Calamansi Lemonade, Passion Fruit, Strawberry and Lemon Sparkling Water and these don't even cover the grab and go drinks...oh they got Smoothies as well!! Well their menu is just mind boggling so I kept it simple with their Spicy Tuna Bowl which consists of white rice (which I think is sushi rice as there's a slight sweetness) topped with sprinkles of Furikake and tuna fish with spicy sauce and drizzle of unagi sauce (way too sweet in my opinion that I couldn't taste much of anything else) which I will pass on the next time. Don't let this "fish market" fool you they also have udon, shrimp tempura, and several other non-fish rice bowls (unagi, sukiyaki beef, and Teri chicken) as well as salad topped with your favorite proteins. Go little as two pieces of Inari sushi to a full platter here you can find something for everyone, well everyone but for keikis. It doesn't stop from poke or poke bowl they do serve them in just about every shape and sizes from nigiri to maki sushi even a fun donut shaped. Well speaking about shapes it's not just for hoomans this dog friendly biz has yummy fun bites for them as well salmon, chicken or tuna rice in an adorable donut shape treat though their site shows bear shape...hmmm! Yelp
I've tried here twice and walked away unimpressed. I was hoping they'd be better than Domo Cafe in Kahala since it's such a far drive for me. I can't say that it is. I ordered the mix bowl my first time and it was kinda skimpy and just ok. My second trip, I had the ikura and uni bowl. The picture was very deceptive. No price on it but looked like a regular sized bowl full of goodness. When I got my bowl, it was the tiniest bowl that's the size of the palm of your hand. An average sized hand that is. About 10 small pieces of Uni with enough ikura to just cover the top of the rice. Definitely wasn't worth the price. Worst of all, you pay before you receive your food and if you pay with card, that unnecessary, "how much tip you want to leave" pops up. My thinking only, is that if you don't leave a tip, you'll get less than you would if you leaves tip or a special ingredient added for no tippers. Again, just what pops into my head when seeing this panhandling on card machines. No table service here where they serve you. They take your order and you go to pick it up. WTF is the tip for? Again I ask, WTF is the TIP for after spending lots of your hard earned money to support this business! SMH

Yelp
UPDATE: They increased prices on their menu & I understand that given inflation... However, this is a ridiculously small amount of fish given for a $17 spicy tuna salad. Also they don't have any kind of reward system so at this point there's no reason to come here any longer. Price is pretty expensive, portions are small, taste is mid & just like the rest, & there's no reason to be loyal to this company anymore.

Yelp
Sushi, torched garlic salmon bowls, and refreshing drink options... oh, and decent prices?? - YES PLEASE! I came here wanting to try a torched garlic salmon bowl and the spicy ahi inari bombs since I heard this place was good, and it didn't disappoint :) the fish tasted fresh, and the prices were decent as well. I got the pineapple iced tea and it was the perfect complement to my meal on a hot day. Another huge plus - easy and free parking in the back of the building! I definitely recommend this place and I'll be back to try other menu items :)

Yelp
This is my second try at hou fish market! I actually came back because I was invited to a dog party for toro here (their store mascot) they had veggies, fruits, and dog cakes for the doggie guests and sushi and drinks for the humans. It was a very cute setup and sushi themed! We hung out outside while the dogs gobbled their food and their bellies were full. I ended up ordering a shoyu hamachi poke ($13) and watermelon smoothie ($5) to go. The hamachi was fresh and wasn't fishy tasting which I like! And the smoothie had fresh watermelon in it which was great on a very hot and humid evening. I still love that it's dog friendly here that's always a major plus for us. They're also featured on frolics dog menu with Simbas photo on it :)

Yelp
Checked out this place for lunch today. Ordered the B6 and the B9. We told them that we were eating here. The food came out in a normal amount of time. The food was really good - it tasted really fresh and it was presented well. They have eating tables inside and outside. The inside was very clean. They have free wi-fi and have a community printer if you need something printed. The workers were really nice and friendly. I will definitely be back to try other items (especially since it is right around the corner from my residence).

Yelp
Cute, clean little shop run by Mandarin speaking staff. It's facing the street toward McKinley High School, in the same building as Public Storage. We arrived and got a table around noon Saturday, just before a small crowd descended upon the place. I noticed they had cans of Coke products (showing good taste--sorry Pepsi fans) in the refrigerated cooler along with randomly, Choya non-alcoholic ume-shuu. We both ordered the spicy ahi poke bowl ($14.50). Fresh fish and good quality rice, but the spicy ahi was NOT spicy and had a sweet kabayaki sauce (like for unagi) drizzled over it. Still, the bowl was good even if not what I expected, and the service was polite and efficient. Score: satisfactory, would visit again.

Yelp
Hou Fish Market has an excellent website. Nigiri was great except for the Tamago. Tamago contains waaaaay too much sugar.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp because me and the gf were hungry and in the area. It's a tucked away place, best parking spot is in the public storage parking lot. As for the food, it was pretty good nothing fancy. It feels like a Kozo sushi vibe but the fish is fresher and nicer. They mainly have sushi bowls and nigiri sets, not a lot of sushi roll options. There's about 3 workers working and you can tell they make the food from scratch like cutting the fish by order because they do take a while and me and my gf only ordered two items and we were the only ones there. But, not complaining on the wait time lol They have a very small dine area inside, but it's better than eating outside on a hot day on their tables! Just wish they would give like little sauce cups or shoyu ramekins to mix your shoyu and wasabi in.

Yelp
Cant say enough about this place- This portions are very large for the price point and the quality is great. If you live in the Pacifica building- mention it when you order- they offer 10% off discount. They offer a range of items besides Nigiri and sashimi. They have poke bowls and boba/sweet teas. Our favorite thing to get is the Inari bombs- UNMATCHED in taste and size and freshness. Drooling as I write this review- You can order i believe a #7 and substitute the salmon for Inari Bombs (inari with spicy ahi) replacement for 1$. SUCH A DEAL Other good to know things about this place- they occasionally change out thier asian snacks and offer a variety of different things you can find at don quiote for fun! They also offer DOG PARTIES!!! yes dog parties Perfect for people who have fur babies- they have platters you can throw for parites for both people and animals. Very unique thing!
