Room: Mumbai.
If you're looking for quaint, this is it--and this is exactly what we wanted to experience. The stairs up to the second floor are crooked, and uneven, and you have to be careful--but you are getting what you should from such an old building.
That said, there's no reason that the modern plumbing in a highly rated hotel shouldn't work right. Our shower drained extremely slowly, and you had to stand in the dirty/soapy water for several minutes while the water was off, just so it wouldn't spill out into the rest of the room. If this shower had been thoroughly cleaned before we arrived, the housekeeper would/should have noticed. We chose not to report this during our stay because we didn't want plumbers marching around our room to address something that should have been dealt with before.
The Venetian blind in our room were a mess, and need to be thrown in the rubbish and replaced. I advice the owner(s) to sleep a few nights in each room and see what their rooms are like.
The day time hostess was not fun to deal with as she came across as defensive and confused. The night host---he was much more friendly and relaxed.
The lounge has an honor-system bar, so that was nice. The large yard out back is also a nice place to chill out.
Note that the people who hang around the street in this part of the town are loud and boisterous, and at night we heard several loud arguments and an actual fight.
