The Most Unique Restaurants in Myrtle Beach | Eater

"Some of Myrtle Beach’s best live music is at the House of Blues, a restaurant and bar with a constant schedule of shows, ranging from classic rock tribute groups to touring metal bands. The Gospel Brunch is a Sunday tradition, serving up Southern-inspired dishes like chicken and waffles during a spirited performance. The good vibes are made even stronger by the fact that $1 of every ticket goes towards the Music Forward Foundation, which supports growing artists of all backgrounds." - Vox Creative

14 Live Music Venues With First-Rate Food in New Orleans | Eater New Orleans

"Don’t be put off by the idea of a chain restaurant for jazz — there’s a reason why the House of Blues has become a mainstay for live music in New Orleans. Thanks to its central location in the French Quarter and its full-service menu (on Main Hall show nights), the House of Blues is a one-stop shop for dinner and a show. Crawfish boil and a show? Sunday brunch set to a live gospel act? The possibilities for entertainment are endless." - Clair Lorell

We loved everything about House of Blues! Great atmosphere, great service. I took my daughter to her first concert. We've been checking the line-up from now until the end of the year. We'll definitely be going back! Great venue!

Mackenzie My server I want to thank her so much for her kindness. She knows she knows the menu inside out and her choices was on point. I want to thank you for letting us be a host at your place of work… Also, the place is so big and beautiful inside Out clean the staff friendly professional keep up the excellent work

Google
Absolutely a wonderful experience for a soulful Sunday brunch visiting from out of town. The food was quite tasty, and the live band/praise team was touching. The art is so telling of a true story. We watched as many people of various backgrounds enjoyed it all. I do recommend the experience!

Great Music, Great Food and Great Service We were walking in the Barefoot Landing looking at the all the shops, when someone walked up to us and handed us two tickets to a Van Morrison cover band concert that was going to take place in the evening at House of Blues. Since we wanted to go to dinner with some live music, we opted to go there. We were pleasantly surprised. The guitarist who was playing at the restaurant was actually really good. We enjoyed our dinner and the music. The service was excellent. After dinner we went to the next building to attend the free concert. That was amazing too! It was our anniversary weekend - so we had a blast!

When I tell you this Establishment is exceptional, I truly mean it. House of Blues Gospel Brunch made an outstanding impression. The breakfast brunch 😋 was wonderfully delicious and very filling. The Gospel group they had singing brought tears to my eye. What a wonderful way to get a spiritual fulfillment, combined with a little jazz history. They had all the greats, and it was incredibly hard to get my mother to leave this place. With its outstanding jazz display, this venue's impeccable design makes it a standout destination. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here. I highly recommend it for both its cuisine and gospel music.

Very fun night. The tickets were reasonable. Music was great and atmosphere is fun. The drinks are sooooo expensive especially compared to local prices. Like I think I'd have to donate plasma to afford to get a buzz. Or pregame and Uber there. Lol

Google
One of the best shows I've ever seen. I'm a huge Manson fan and I'm so thrilled my recent experience seeing him was here. I'll get the elephant out of the room right now: the missing star is simply because there was so many people jammed into the venue. That being said, all staff and bartenders were so pleasant and accommodating. The sound system was incredible and left no one wanting more. If they had about 800 more square feet, it'd be the perfect venue. That being said, I will definitely be going back for the next big act!

Ginger Wright

Google
Great little venue! Not huge like some I've been to, but the sound in there is amazing compared so some I've been to. Friendly staff, and they book some amazing bands.

Yelp
I personally liked it however, the people I was with saying it was no good. my favorite part was that they had kid menus in coloring pages. which I love I'm never too old and the place looked like a beer farm near my house.

Yelp
We sat on the deck at the bar. I ordered the nachos with chicken and was highly disappointed. The presentation was terrible and the "melted" cheese and chicken were cold. The bartender was aware and said she felt "bad" but didn't bother to replace or comp my meal. My partner however enjoyed his burger which he ordered plain with few condiments. The drinks were ok, I initially ordered a margarita and it tasted like majority sour mix. The bartenders were nice but could improve on mixing cocktails as they were weak and tasted weak. The band was good which we saw two nights in a row.

Yelp
Shrimp and grits and a Cadillac margarita for my bday! Had to do it! Everyone I come to Myrtle beach I have to get this

Yelp
We decided to eat at the restaurant to "skip the line" before a show. This creamy Cajun chicken pasta dish came recommended by our waitress. The food and the staff were great. Nice place, we'll go back.

Yelp
I enjoyed the food and the service. After we dined, there was an amazing live band performing outside and they were great!! I had the steak and it was delicious. I'm a ribeye girl but this New York Strip did not disappoint! My husband had the blackened salmon and his was even better than mine. You'll be pleased!

Johnny J.

Yelp
I love the ambience in this restaurant. The food is always delicious. If you get a chance, do the Sunday brunch. The entertainment in the food is 2nd to none. I only eaten the morning brunch and never had the normal menu, but it looks like everything other restaurants are only in the area at Myrtle Beach.

Yelp
This is such a staple! Great atmosphere inside and out. Food was pretty good - waitress very attentive both times we were here. The true gem is the live music out back. Great bands, bartenders were on point, and dance floor so you can really enjoy your time.

Yelp
Great service from Daniel and the food was great! I've been to a few other HOB around the country and love them all!

Yelp
Very good service and very good food most of the time there is live music in the evening also I would recommend this restaurant anytime

Yelp
We are on the deck to listen to the band. Menu is limited. BBQ sandwich was good but needed more sauce and slaw.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic service! Food was good! Was expecting live music indoors, but I should have called ahead for better understanding. Our family of four ordered the loaded fries to share. YUM!! One of our sons orders a Caesar salad to start. Large portion and he nearly licked his plate. I ordered the salmon with side brussel sprouts. The salmon was good, but not memorable. But I very much enjoyed the Brussels. My husband had the Cajun pasta and very much enjoyed. Both of our boys ordered the steak and fries and loved it! Nice portion! Moscow Mules were our least favorite item of the night. After dinner we headed outdoors for the music. And WOW!!! Loved the outdoor ambiance, decor, and the talent was impressive! We will be back!

Yelp
This is not it!! Decided to give this place a try based on the reviews and word of mouth, but this was NOT it!! Food lacks flavor, the portion size was so small for the prices. The waitress was very nice, but she asked us if we wanted chips or cornbread. Of course I said cornbread not knowing I would be charged for it at the end, $9 at that. I definitely will not be revisiting. The "sweet" tea was off, the Pepsi was sour. It also lacked any ambience.

Yelp
We made a reservation but it wasn't needed. Are waiter was great took are drink order and dinner order right away. I got the Cajun pasta and hubby got the seafood gumbo and half rack of ribs. They allowed a sub of garlic mash potatoes he was a happy camper. The inside is so unique the ceiling is filled with blues singers silhouettes. The music is not to load. The gumbo was filled to the rim and so good. The ribs were great, the pasta was not my favorite it had plenty of heat but not much flavor and the sauce was too soupy. I had to stop eating because my mouth was on fire (I don't mind spicy but this was just loaded). All in all great place and service. I will order something different next time.

Yelp
I've eaten here a few times but mainly come for the nightlife, bands, and drinks! Food is pretty good but the entertainment is better! Nice outdoor bar with seating for a night out.

Yelp
Welcoming environment. Attentive service and great food! Not a big dessert person but the key lime pie was outstanding. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Don't get the food on the deck. This was no brioche bun - stale white bread about quadruple the size of the teeny weeny patty and the picture on here and on the web site sure isn't representative of what they serve. One slice of fake cheese. Asking for silverware or napkins is an annoyance to them as well. You don't get water either. Food was so yuck I did complain and they comped it but what an ordeal. I'd rather just get a good meal and pay for it. Hard to mess up a burger, but they did. Atmosphere 10/10 - just don't go hungry.

Yelp
Gospel brunch buffet is a must try! So many food options and everything was seriously delicious! Seasoned to perfection. Service was friendly and fast and the place was clean and well kept. It was great to have a live band playing gospel music while you enjoyed a scrumptious meal. I've been to Myrtle many times and can't believe I've never been before, but trust this will not be my last time!

Yelp
Every time we take a trip to the beach, a stop at the HOB is always a must do! Every HOB location we have visited is always clean, familiar, and friendly. Great food and great music!

Yelp
The House of Blues- The Deck is actually somewhat separate from their restaurant and their music venue. It's located on the side of the building and has a nice bar with several types of draft beer and various specialty drinks. Thursday through Sunday they have live bands on the stage and often times it open to children as well. The music selections vary but the band we saw last night on stage was Soultriii. They played old Motown music which we loved as well as some classic rock songs and did an excellent version of Chris Stapleton's, "Tennessee Whiskey." The service at the bar was surprisingly quick considering how busy it was there. If it wasn't 35 minutes from our house, we'd be regulars here.

Yelp
I love HOB. We've been to many of their locations, Orlando, Chicago, NO, etc. The MB location just lacked the vibe. Hard to explain, the food was good, the dining area decent but something was missing. There was no music, the staff was underwhelming, the company store was small and bereft of merchandise, no Howling Wolf or Billie Holiday CD's. The body was there, just no spirit. Still a good time but not what we've come to expect from HOB

Bill S.

Yelp
Food and of course the house our service was outstanding Lisa did great job keeping us with food and drinks

Yelp
Excellent experience. I was surprised by the Yelp ratings but quickly realized the low ratings were about COVID related issues. This place was awesome. We started our evening on the patio listening to great live music and great cocktails. Good spacing outside. Our waitress was very friendly and good service. We moved in for dinner and was again lucky enough to have a very friendly waitress and good service. Food was wonderful. Wings were excellent. Juicy Lucy burgers were very good but they are cooked on the rare side by design. Pulled pork was good. The fried chicken sandwich was amazing. Phenomenal flavor with all the toppings and a juicy piece of chick with crispy. May be the greatest fried chicken sandwich I ever had. Highly recommend a visit here. B

Yelp
We had a reservation for 6:15. Arrived on time to be told they were understaffed. We asked if the had a bar area and was waved to the bar. Our waitress / bartender was attentive to take our order. Set nachos in front of us, we had to ask for plates. No napkins or silverware. Very quickly our meals followed, again, had to ask for silverware. The food was okay. Certainly not worth going out of your way to eat there. There are many places to go in Myrtle Beach / North Myrtle Beach.... Find another location.

Yelp
Went to the gospel brunch today and our waitress was Cheryl Blue. It was an overall great experience! Great music and great singing! I would definitely recommend, even to locals!
google avatar

Yelp
Great concert venue! Always a great time! Only problem is the cost of alcohol. $25 for a tall boy IPA and a shot of Tito's? Out of control!
google avatar

Yelp
Highly recommend the Thanksgiving experience. Not only was the food and music perfect, there was a wonderful Hollywood Pictures photographer AND they had an outreach dinner as well! They served disadvantaged members of the community Thanksgiving day. I cried! Our server was amazing with suggestions and great sweet tea throughout the meal. Sweet potatoes, pot salad, bread pudding, pecan pie, and turkey were perfect.

Lori L.

Yelp
Cheryl Blue is an awesome server. Food was fresh and delicious! The best dining experience we had all week. Thanks Cheryl!

Yelp
Came here for my work's holiday party. The staff did a great job with service and helping our party get the food and drinks needed. The hamburger sliders were absolutely fantastic and I definitely will be getting them again when I visit this restaurant in the future.
google avatar

Yelp
We weren't sure if it was even open. The strip was pretty slow when we where there and very few cars in the lot, but they were open and the food was quite good. Great atmosphere combining food and music history. I would go back again.
google avatar

Alesia B.

Yelp
I absolutely love the atmosphere and the history behind the bar! Our waitress was on point and the food was phenomenal! It's pricey everywhere because your in a vacation spot! But definitely worth every cent! The bar shelf was Al capones! There is actually bullet holes from his own bar so that is a cool detail about the bar area! I definitely suggest the House of blues for good music and damn good food!
google avatar

Kim G.

Yelp
The entire area is full of folk art, that seems questionable (black face) yet still nice and interesting work. Dining room is a great space and the full bar was open. We went for Gospel brunch and entertainment was great! I'm not sure if it was apart of the show, but someone from audience got up and sang! Pleasant and emotional surprise. The buffet had many options from made to order omelets, salad, fried chicken and Mac n cheese. The chicken and Mac n cheese were my favorite, and topped it off with bread pudding! The food was wonderful. This was my second visit and I'd come back! Oh I can't forget how sweet and nice our waitress and the manager were! Great experience guys!

Yelp
Super average. Slow service, but clearly short staffed. The food was unexceptional but fine. The Carolina Mess appetizer was the best of what we had. We were planning on ordering several rounds of drinks but only managed to get one in the almost ninety minutes we were there just due to how slow everything was. I would not return but it wasn't the worst.

Jen L.

Yelp
Gospel Sunday Brunch is great! Good food, good singing, good vibes. It isn't the cheapest, but it is the best! Love!

Michelle S.

Yelp
Food was unbelievable! I got the voodoo shrimp. The sauce on it was pure magic. Idk what was in it, but I'd buy a bottle of it! My husband got the jambalaya & added the shrimp. It had so much flavor! Both dishes had heat, but nothing a beer or margarita couldn't quench. The margarita wasn't anything special so I'd probably try something else if we go again. My 10 yr old got the burger from the kids menu & said it was really good. She's picky so I took it as a win. The atmosphere was so cool! We LOVED the look of the place! The staff was friendly. The place wasn't overly packed when we were there, but it seemed short staffed. Our waitress seemed to be handling most of the place herself so it took a while to get drinks & refills. I'd go again if we're in the area. With so many options around it would be hard not to try something else, but the food was good enough that I'd go again.

Yelp
HOB in general is one of my fav music venues...Las Vegas, Chicago, Myrtle Beach; however, I'm disappointed they decided to close (during the summer, not even the off season) in Myrtle Beach. The deck (outside) is still a viable option for the many bands who are local and or travel to play and I'm sure need the work. . So many bars in the area have live music still all the way into late October. Major points lost in my book for closing/drinking the COVID kool-aid. Psh

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience eating at the House of Blues in Myrtle Beach on April 12th. Our waitress Cheryl Blues was phenomenal. She guided us with what is good to eat on the menu. We all loved the food and many choices we had. Cheryl told us some of the history of the House of Blues and told us about the antic relics . She suggested after eating that we walk around the restaurant and look at some of the items hanging on the wall (The restaurant was not very busy , we were there before 5pm). Cheryl was efficient and frequently checked on us as we were eating. She is an excellent waitress. The food at the House of Blues was very good. We will all go back next time we are in Myrtle Beach.

Yelp
The food was excellent! Staff started out a bit shaky (kind of rude) but they turned it around near the middle of the meal! At least the wait person turned it around the host was flat out rude!
google avatar

Cassandra C.

Yelp
More staff is needed. That is the case everywhere. Great burgers with french fries. Ribs are fabulous.
google avatar

Steven C.

Yelp
More like 3 1/2 . The live music was amazing. He was a wonderful treat. Playing his guitar and singing some great blues songs. Perfect volume, not too loud where you could talk at a normal level. I was a little disappointed with my jumbalaya. It was good but I was hoping it was better. It was just missing a little something but still good. Wife had the fried chicken which was delicious. Perfectly crispy on the outside and tender and juicy inside with a honey drizzle on top.

A I.

Yelp
Take the Money and run. Fit as many bodies to burn. No concern for comfort or care, only cash. Locals and tourists all exchanged friendly hellos in accepting that they knew but nobody enjoyed the tight atmosphere provided with slow service and elbow to elbow crowding. Find an outdoor festival instead. Save your vacation money for something fun. This one bites the air outta the bags.

Reginald B.

Yelp
After reviewing the website for Christmas vacation, we made reservations for 2 for lunch 12/24/2023. Website nor menu mentioned anything about brunch only available. All to our surprise. Then receiving a receipt charging $92 for a not that great buffet. Aware!!!
google avatar

Yelp
We ate here a couple of years ago and couldn't wait to do again on our most recent vacation to Myrtle Beach. This time my husband and I both got a bowl of gumbo and we split an order of the Cajun Chicken Pasta. I also got the crispy brussels sprouts. It was ALL amazing....I even had leftovers for the next day. Our waitress was the absolute best......our whole party agreed. Lakedia was a hoot and we just loved her. I can't wait to be in the area again for a repeat performance!

Steve T.

Yelp
After being seated we had to wait 15 minutes before a waitress came over to take out order. Once we did get one the waitress was very friendly and attentive. The food came out in a reasonable time and was hot but that's where it starts downhill. I had the smash burger, the roll was good but the burger a little dry and tasteless. They made very good French fries though. The other sandwiches were okay, nothing to brag about. The restaurant is dark and could use a little updating. I think it is more about their music venue rather than the restaurant

Yelp
3 friends and myself were looking for an actual restaurant not another buffet, which are all too common around these parts. We wound up here because there was an artist we like, performing that night. The food is really good. Well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The waitstaff is pleasant and the kitchen gets the food to table timing like a well oiled machine. We looked it so much and were a bit leery about eating elsewhere so we returned and would you believe it they didn't fail to impress. I "tasted" every item in the photo and believe when I tell you if I'm ever down in Myrtle Beach again, House of Blues will see my face.

Yelp
The wife and I always like eating at the HOB whenever there is one near so we decided to make reservations and go as a family this time. We were seated promptly and our server was friendly and did a great job the whole meal. The meal . We did wait longer than normal for our food to come out, but that is expected with the current labor shortage. The wife ordered her usual shrimp and grits and was pleased with how it came out. She said it was spot on as usual and ate every bite. My son got the Juicy Lucy and said it was good. My daughter in-law and myself ordered the fried chicken and were told by the server that they were out of chicken breast and were subbing two large thighs instead which was fine with us. Our plates came out and the two thighs together didn't equal the size of half a chicken breast and the mashed potatoes were lucky to be a teaspoon and a half serving. The daughter in-law kept hers, but I sent mine back refusing to pay $21 for what amounted to a McDonald's Happy Meal. I have no issues paying prices for decent portions or high end food, but this was neither. In place of the chicken I ordered the Juicy Lucy cooked medium and it came out basically raw. The bottom of the bun was soaked in blood and when I cut the patties in half they were still chill to the touch. The server sent the manager over and she proceeded to tell me this is how these burgers look and they aren't really undercooked. My son's burger didn't look like this and I have eaten plenty of Juicy Lucy's in Minneapolis and other areas and they never look liked this. Needless to say we paid for the meal and left and I made a sandwich when we got back.

Yelp
We had a GREAT time here. Good food and wonderful service. Keygan A. was our server and he was simply the best. We will definitely be coming back, if for no other reason than to see him. If you're into the blues they have a wonderful atmosphere. The staff made sure we had a good time. Five stars. Went back today, once again had great food and service, this time from Lakedia. Will be back next time we are in town.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and was surprised to see the place empty around 7:30. It is decorated with rock & roll items and the ceiling is decorated with faces of music artists. Appetizer: We ordered the BBQ brisket nachos based on the waitress' recommendation and it was big enough for our party of 6. Entrees: Country fried steak Jambalaya with shrimps - has a little kick and tasty Shrimp & grits - the grits were fried and shaped in a square and was good Shrimp tacos NY strips Everyone enjoyed their entree and finished everything Dessert: Key lime pie - made in-house Ice cream covered with toffees sauce We also ordered a pitcher of sangria for $34 and it served exactly 6 glasses.

Yelp
The food was good, but I wouldn't say great, but the service was excellent. For what we paid I was hoping for better quality, and the kitchen didn't even follow the instructions my server put on the order. The impossible cheeseburger was pretty good, and it actually does taste like real beef. Even the texture and color was just like a burger made from beef. Parking here wasn't too bad, but when there are big events happening on the music hall side of the place I can see it getting very packed. During tourist season it is probably a good idea to make a reservation. We went towards the end of the day and had we not reserved a table we would have not gotten to eat.
