I recently attended a conference event at the House of Blues live karaoke bar and found the experience to be quite memorable. The atmosphere was fabulous, immersing us in an energetic and welcoming vibe that set the stage for an unforgettable evening. However, there were a few drawbacks. While the food was tasty and fresh, there weren’t enough tables and chairs for everyone to comfortably sit and enjoy their dinner and cocktails. One $18 cocktail—a vodka Red Bull—was steeper than expected, largely because Tito’s was considered a premium brand. To make matters worse, the cup was so small that it only held half of a Red Bull, even though I had paid for an entire can. I recently attended a conference event at the House of Blues live karaoke bar, and the atmosphere was simply fabulous. The venue set an energetic and welcoming tone that made the evening truly unforgettable. Being my first time at a live band karaoke bar, I found it to be an absolute treat. The band was amazing and entertaining, creating an inclusive environment where everyone felt welcome to participate in karaoke regardless of their singing abilities. Our group had an amazing time, and the lively spirit of the place made it a standout experience. The food served was tasty and fresh, contributing to the overall enjoyment. While the event was well-organized, there were minor challenges such as limited seating—there weren’t enough tables and chairs for everyone to sit comfortably during dinner and cocktail service. For example, one $18 vodka Red Bull stood out as particularly pricey, partly due to Tito’s being a premium brand. Additionally, the small cup size meant it held only half of a Red Bull, even though I paid for an entire can. In summary, despite a few logistical hiccups, the evening at House of Blues was overwhelmingly positive. The delightful atmosphere and fantastic live band more than made up for the minor shortcomings, and I’d highly recommend this venue for future events.

Voodoo room is a funny decorated place for performers. Floor place for about 100 attendees. You can purchase the food and drinks during the concert or, at intermission, will have a special bracelet to purchase alcohol. The cold water is free.

Good location and plenty of good views of the stage! Would of liked to see the balcony views but wasn’t open 😔

I don’t even know where to begin. The entire team at SD House of Blues was on their A-Game for what I like to call, the wedding of the century! The Haas Wedding was held on Friday the 13th and from start to finish, they made all our spooky Christmas wishes come true. Tara and her team were so flexible when things went a little out of order, and they made sure that everyone on their team was on the same page. And oh my, they were so friendly and helpful! Every time I’d go running past, they were encouraging, kind, and so funny too! Every wedding has moments that don’t go perfectly, but with how hands-on the team at House of Blues was, you wouldn’t recognize anything going wrong. They handled everything quickly and smoothly, ensuring the Bride & Groom had the wedding of their dreams. I am so sad that I won’t be working with them anymore, but would definitely recommend their venue for a SICK wedding! Side Note: The review is not saving my choices, but Food, Atmosphere, & Service are all 5/5!!

I’ve only been to shows here three times in the 20 years I’ve lived in San Diego, and every show I attend here reminds me of why I should never return. The venue is always ALWAYS over sold. Just attempted to see the Deltron show, and had to leave before he had even completed the second song of his set. People were pushing into us nonstop, and being really rude about trying to get by, despite the fact I was standing next to a metal bar, so there was nowhere for them to go. Only attend a show here if it’s either not a popular band or you’re willing to have people elbow your rib cage every other minute.

Google
This is a great venue to watch live music. House of blues has probably the best acoustics of any venue around. This was a sold-out show and when its sold out there is very little space for you to watch the band up close. Even if you go to the second story and watch from the balcony, people park themselves there early on and you really don't have a chance to get the right viewing angle to see the band. In my opinion, a sold that show is only worth going to if you are a super fan and you won't be able to sleep at night knowing that you missed one of your favorite band's concerts. Otherwise, if you're going for the viewing experience in a sold-out show at the House of blues, I'd say skip it.

Went to a concert there. They do not care for ADA or a disabled veteran. I arrived when doors opened and asked if there were any ada accommodations as it was all concrete floors and no seating where I was. The person asked manager. But was told they were at capacity and to wait and see if everyone shows up. After 1 hour of sitting on the concrete steps. I was informed there were not accommodations available. I sat another 30 minutes on floor and had to leave due to pain. As I sat there, there waas an entire section that had probably 8 4 top tables. And the only people there were 2-3 employees telling people they couldn't sit there. So I go up to the next level to ask to speak to a manager and there's multiple empty seats there also. So i was informed there were no more seats for ADA. So I thanked the manager for caring about ADA and a 100 % disabled veteran and left. If you have any type of disability I highly recommend avoiding the house of blues in san diego

Google
Great venue! Super artsy cool decor all around. 🔥We had dinner before the concert and that was the greatest decision of the night, as this got us in the venue ahead of the game. (Long line outside)The trick is to consume $25 per person at the restaurant and then you qualify for the fast pass. This will get you in the concert throught a lounge as soon as the doors open. As a result this Got us a great spot infront of the stage.😍 Automatically This gave the concert a personal feel to it..overall a great experience .👍 enjoy

Yelp
We come here more lately, because we win tickets to some of the shows. It can be hit or miss, with sometimes nothing good on the calendar for a month or two. Parking is obviously the hardest part, because of where it's located. Especially if it's a Sunday or there's a Padre game, leave yourself extra time to possibly drive around looking for a spot. Most of the Employees are friendly, and we get a different assortment every time we go, lol. The regular concert hall has reserved seating and VIP tables on the top floor, if you don't want to stand. It also has a small bar upstairs, so you don't have to go to the main one downstairs for drinks. The ADA section is upstairs next to the back row of reserved seats, and holds maybe 12 people. You call the box office to place your name on the list. The Voodoo room on the backside also can do a few ADA seats, for the small shows of maybe 150 people. I would say don't bother with the food, eat before you come.

Yelp
The website is out of date with incorrect information and broken links. It says Salvation is open 2 hours prior to doors but it's more like an hour prior to doors. The website also said you can upgrade GA tickets to balcony seats but it's not the case in person and they ask that you pay full price for the seat. They also do a very poor job at replying to emails and answering their phones.

Yelp
Went for Caravan Palace. Concert was a 5 because the band is amazing, but it felt like the promoters didn't put an appropriate cap on the number of tickets. Food/drink was like that of any other music venue so little say; it's just very generic items. Venue has an old school vibe and aesthetic. There's an adjacent room where they sold merch with plenty of South Asian decoration. The venue was PACKED. It felt like we were over capacity because there was only one line at the very back edge of the floor for people to walk through. Security had a hard time making their way around. If you weren't walking next to the wall, you were by the bar. The back end of the venue was clearly not for people to see the concert since there were pillars in the way and the ceiling was very low. It was really crammed on the floor with the crowd, and people were forced to be in contact with each other on all sides. I didn't realize how uncomfortable it all was until I took a break and noticed that everyone was drenched in sweat because of the poor ventilation. I wonder if it was the venue overstating how many people should be at the place, but that's my only warning for future visitors.

Yelp
Location is pretty convenient & price point was fantastic to see Bloodywood & 3 opening acts. Nothing exciting about the food & snack options but at least the chicken tenders w hot honey were fresh & hot. It was insanely loud, thank goodness they had earplugs at the bar. GA was the usual- a LOT of standing which is not accessible for everyone so our friend paid for upstairs ticket. Mosh pit / crowd surfing got a little messy/ extra pushy. I gotta say security was very calm & professional. I really wish they'd make all the tall people stand in one side. Restroom could be tidier. Area is a wee bit sketch after show.

Yelp
Great venue is San Diego, Safe and Inviting. Grab dinner before the show for the total experience. It can get stuffy so plan your positioning in the venue if you like moving air!

Yelp
GREAT place!!!! I honestly have nothing bad to say except it was very packed, but that is obviously a great thing. When you're a little older like myself, it does get a bit much but still such a great time. We will definitely be back.

Yelp
Came here to see Tommy Richman on Friday. First off- the parking they offer if you prepay is like luxury parking. I've never seen anything like it. I don't remember what we paid for it but whatever it was it was worth it. Pretty much your other option is parking on the street in homeless encampment central...so just get the parking. They try to act strict at the door with security and all but once you're inside literally no one cares about anything. There's chaperones around but they literally do nothing. Inside is cool with murals on the walls and feels like a night club/lounge but concert venue. Kind of like New Orleans Bourbon street. The actual concert space is surprisingly small and somewhat obscured. If you want to be able to see at all you better get there early and wear your combat boots. You're going to battle for your spot. My 6'4" husband had no complaints and didn't see any issue. If you're any shorter than that you better get a spot in front or there is zero visibility. Love the incense though! And honestly it was the most air conditioned concert I think I've ever been to. By the end of the night we went to the balcony- needed to escape some drugged out crying people so we ended up with the crowd who brings their 5 yr olds to a rap concert at 11 pm and the people who keep dancing even when there is no music playing. Somehow still couldn't see any better. All this to say that I would go back here if I reallyyyyy wanted to see the artist playing. But def won't be back for Tyga.

Yelp
We saw The Lady Gang at House of Blues. The show was excellent! The venue is old school special... love it. The bartenders were great. Two of them handled a zillion people at once. It was impressive. The guys at the door were amazing!

Yelp
This review is regarding my experience with ADA seating at HOB. Every moment of my experience was top notch. HOB makes you feel like a VIP. I went to a concert there (Fishbone, it was incredible) the first night I was able to walk using both legs, which I had not been able to do for the previous 3 months so I was slow and unsteady and unable to stand for hours at a time. HOB led me to a fantastic seat, showed me how to easily access a bar and bathroom, and made sure I was comfortable. Being able to go to a concert and know I was safe left me with nothing to worry about other than just to enjoy the show. I didn't have any food, but the drinks were delicious. Thank you HOB!

Yelp
For the many that have been to Las Vegas what is one of the biggest events that you may see at the many resorts or the casinos on the strip? Yes, for being a weeknight and the many people that were coming to the House of Blues there was a concert that was starting go get set up at the House of Blues with concert group of the Live Nation they were presenting the group called Bad Religion. For the many restaurants that I have found with the music field is the House of Blues. The one time inside the House of Blues with the many music groups which have performed with the best in the many dishes with the taste of the dishes that has the many names of the great performers that have performed at the House of Blues. Coming to the House of Blues the front area when I had arrived noticed the host that was helping the many multitasking to see many welcomed at the front door. The host asked me if I wanted a table showing the bar area which is one of the best the color of the rock and atmosphere of the House of Blues. For when I saw the bar it is one of the best designed. The bartender Cory welcomed me to the bar seeing the people that were gathering for the concert in the Voodoo room. The menus they have are some of the easiest when you have some of the best prices for people coming to the bar with the great music and the atmosphere of rock and roll. One of the best dishes that I have seen is the dish of Barbecue Nachos with the best in sauces the pure taste of the avocado sauce with the taste of the freshly made chips. With the large Beer of the Samuel Adams one of the best beers that was poured correctly for the many great dishes is great nachos that are created to be eye catchers. Sitting at the bar with the metal tabletop House of Blues is one of the best bars for the design of the bar with the many statues of the bar with the chalk picture of the blues brothers. With the atmosphere of the bar some of the best appetizers with the best flavor that you can share with others. As an Elite Yelp Reviewer, I have found that many of the many Rock and Roll concert venues have some of the best food and there are some which try to make drinks they want to be pushed. For the areas of the many bars foods the one that takes the top notch with the mix of music and drinks and food with the rock names is the House of Blues. For the many places which I have seen from the Las Vegas venues here in San Diego the House of Blues is some of the best in flavors along with drinks.

Yelp
Lame venue. The door staff are rude to everyone, zero communication with them, just shit attitudes from the moment you walk up. Dont bring a vape in yiur pocket, theyll throw that shit in the garbage at security. Oh and Its hot as shit downstairs.

Yelp
I came for a concert after having heard of House of Blues for a while. The walls and ceilings are all painted which is fun and gives it character, though much of it looks very old and run down. It's on the smaller side for a music venue and feels intimate. It's pretty hard to see anything if you aren't right in front, either on the balcony or the floor, because there are no steps or slant to see over other people when it's packed. The bar is easily accessible and the drinks are decent, if pricy.

Yelp
Saw the high curbs here and had the time of my life! Great space with amazing sound, very nice security and awesome food at the side restaurant!

Yelp
Came for a concert, used the restroom and noticed a camera above the men's, straight across from the women's. Doors were perched open to both men and women's restrooms. I think this is uncalled for, the camera could be placed somewhere else. An invasion of privacy! Especially when there is not a camera facing the mens too. This left me and my friend very uncomfortable. We closed the doors, but still doesn't make it right.

Yelp
First time visitor. Attended the Owl City concert with my teenage daugter early October. Arrived around 6pm for the 8pm concert and the line was already "snaked" around the buiding. Please note that this venue has two entrances: One for the bar/restaurant and opposite the building was for the concert. The line is most likely the concert line. Prior to the entrance, they will divide patrons into two lines: Patrons carrying bags (see thru bags only) and those without. Bagless line goes fast with minimal delay. You do have to go through a metal detector and may be wanded if needed. General admission is standing room only so if you arrive late and you're short or a taller person is in front of you, the back of that person's head is all you will see unless you angle yourselves to the stage. For a few dollars more, you can pay for very limited seating (2nd floor or towards the sides of the venue). This place is LOUD like being inside a subwoofer. I noticed some folks wearing ear plugs =) Aside from the standing in line and in concert for like 3-4 hours, this was a great concert. Opening act was good as well. Tip: Bring comfortable standing shoes!

Yelp
I have been to the House of Blues around 4 times over the past 3 years for concerts. Each time has been a really good experience. I like the venue because it is small and has an intimate setting. It's nice that you can actually see the artists performing! Even though they sell out shows frequently, I never feel to crammed in the venue. There is enough space to move around. Usually doors open at 7 for their Friday night concerts. If you want to be front row it's a must to get there early since it's standing room only. Drinks and food are pricey, but that's always expected at a concert and it's downtown. Drinks are nothing to rave about $15 for a single, $20 for a double. I usually just get a liquid death (sparkling water) and get drinks elsewhere. Concerts I attended: Noah Kahan 2021 Dean Lewis 2023 ARIZONA 2023 Overall, an intimate venue that's well worth it to see smaller artists!!

Yelp
My friend who was 21 had a beatbox and a security approached us and continued to ask every single one of us in the group for our IDs even though none of us had a drink in hand except the person who was 21. The security was looking straight at my chest as he approached and didn't make eye contact with anyone not one time. I felt extremely uncomfortable and targeted as he continued to let my 21 year old friend and my 20 year old sister in and not me and my boyfriend. I continued to tell the security I had nothing to drink and he replied with "you're guilt by association". I replied with "guilty? My friend was of age and you let her and my 20 year old sister in" he continued with "I'm sorry there's nothing I can do" I replied with wow. And walked away.

Yelp
As far as the Voodoo Room goes, the sound is hideous. Even though the room is small (just a few hundred people) the sound was muddy and unclear. Without enough highs and midrange, the lead singer's voice got buried in the mix. Even between songs when he would speak without competing music, it amounted to an unintelligible muffled mumble. The speakers mounted on the wall look to be ancient and probably need an upgrade. And the mixing engineer might need a hearing check up. I did recently attend another concert at a larger outdoor venue and it sounded great. The band was using a simple QSC double line array on each side of the stage, plus some bass reinforcement. The QSCs filled the space with fantastic sound even though they're incredibly compact, approx. 3 x 2 feet. Bummer that a local cover band playing a free concert in a park sounded WAY better than an up and coming buzz band on a national tour at the venerated House Of Blues. The HOB should consider stepping up their audio game.

Yelp
love this place! its where i first saw johnny stimson live HYPES: this place is super cute! feels sorta jazzy and perf for listening to music late at night. bathrooms are decent and the bar is cool too! GRIPES: there were no seats for a 2 hour concert. LOL. call me lazy, but my legs were hurting by the end of it! my husband and i were standing in the very front. i wouldve hated to have come later and have others in my vision area. BONUS HYPE: Johnny stimson was amazing!!!

Yelp
We went for an Indie Night event called Electric Feels. The bartender, Josh, was great upstairs! We got cups of pineapple juice that came with free refills all night long! There was a never a line for the women's restrooms which was nice. The dance floor was pretty big and the sound was amazing. You could feel the bass!!

Yelp
Parking: lots of garages in the area right across the street with good rates $10 or less. There is also a bus stop nearby as well and a trolley. They have a restaurant near the venue but there are better places to get food. Inside the venue also sells food and drinks as well. Fairly expensive but they had lots of options. Lines go around the block for concerts here. I went to an Ava Max concert and the lines wrapped around the building. We were let in around 730 but the show didn't start until around 9 with two pre-performers. This venue is standing room only. Upstairs is VIP, walk down stairs to get to regular area. Makes it a pain when leaving. Concert floor: It's basically a mosh pit. It was fine in the beginning but once the performance started people started cutting, squeezing themselves in. We were all crammed in people jumping, hitting, spilling drinks on everyone. Not what I was expecting. Not sure if it was just over sold but I definitely won't do another venue without seating again. It was hard to hear the performer, music was super loud. Recommend headphones for littles, saw lots of kids.

Yelp
This place is pretty good. I've been to the music venue 3x already for Taylor Swift events. I come here taking the trolley and there's a station right in front on Fifth Ave. At night, this area can get shady with transients, so I recommend you either carpool with someone, get dropped off and picked up, or leave early if you're taking the trolley. Last trolley to go south passes at 12am so be weary of that. The place inside looks really cool. I get there early so I can get a good spot in the front because if you get there later, it becomes so packed that people are hitting you while they're dancing. I haven't tried their food or bar but it's there for whoever needs it. They have complimentary tap water too if you get thirsty.

Silvia M.

Yelp
Staff here is so rude, nothing was organized tonight. Owners better check who they hire. So disappointed.
google avatar

Yelp
We saw an 80's cover band here. The music was fun. The audience skewed older, obviously. Bartenders were good. It's in the basement and there are a lot of steps. A bit tricky for women in heals. The only seating was in the VIP balcony. We wish they had some seats in the main floor. The venue feels a bit old or maybe retro or classic is a better word. We'll be back.

Sophia H.

Yelp
This place has gone severely downhill. Security is rude (except for one older man with a beard, everyone else was awful). I will never waste my money on this place ever again.

Jazelle ..

Yelp
Security guard kicked us out for false allegations and didn't want to hear us out. Made us throw away all beverages bought at place and had no refund for our tickets. Horrible experience.

Yelp
One of my favorite venues in San Diego. Decently spacious and decent cocktails. I recommend going for their happy hour as the food is pretty good and if you spend $25, you'll get a fast lane pass which lets you cut the huge line for the concert you're going to. It's honestly 100% worth it rather than buying the pass for that same price. Food is really good too as I enjoy their happy hour burger!
google avatar

Yelp
I must have gone here for ages, for many things from concerts to dining experiences, they have different rooms to accommodate the audience sizes, bigger concerts required more spaces, but sometimes they gave the artists the front stage where you could watch it live right outside the venue. I have met so many amazing artists here, unfortunately the Covid years had slowed them down a bit and just recently getting more shows again, I like the venue because it's pretty compact and intimate for some performances. You get very up close to the performers, even though at some of their tour leg they got a bigger stage, but when they come to SD, they booked HOB, the security was also very organized, they had alcoholic bar inside the event, and sometimes people getting roundy, and the staff more than likely to resolve the problem professionally. I will start to come back here more often again

Yelp
House of Blues in San Diego is a great place to see a show but better yet are the people who work there who have made each experience I've had there tops. Was just at a show the other night to see Marky Ramone and went upstairs to look for seating. I was greeted warmly by Marin Davis who it turned out was the VIP lead host. I had no idea of her position until later when I asked her because she was so great trying to help me get seating, I had brought my twelve year old son, and was talking to her about watching the concert. She was so kind and attentive to our needs. I DEFINITELY will be going back now to more shows because of how awesome she was at helping us out. When you hire good people, it really makes patrons want to keep coming back. Again thank you to Marin, House of Blues has a real winner there.
google avatar

Yelp
Is this really a full pour though? We made dinner reservations to get "front of line passes"; you have to spend $25/person... so got dranks & food so we didn't have to stand in the GA line but we got GA concert tix. Go figure! We aren't even front row or in the crowd type...

Yelp
I am a quadriplegic who often cannot get out of the home to events and was interested in this show. I called the day before as I had just found out about it and expressed my needs and also explained another wheelchair could person would be in my party. I was told by a woman that the ADA list was closed but that Security would take care of my needs and I'd be put in an "overflow" section. I explained that I was concerned navigating through a GA stampede once the doors open and asked if I could be let him a few minutes early to be settled in where we would be seated and she explained that Security would take care of it but if we dined at the restaurant that we'd get express entry. So I had info, a plan, and she encouraged me to book. So I bought 4 tickets. One for me, my wheelchair guest, and my husband. I bought a 4th just to have extra space. Fast forward to the next day, the day of the show. I'm nervous as the restaurant shows sold out, so my plan isn't going to play out as I thought and it takes a Herculean event for me to get in van and travel there, so I didn't want to arrive to be turned around or be humiliated in person if it didn't work out. So I decide to call and ask more about the "overflow" area and what kind of path I'd need to navigate and could I arrive 2-4 minutes earlier then GA would be seated, etc. I was met with pure disgust and dismissal by an employee in the Box Office named Scott. He refused to answer any of my questions, he kept repeating to me like I was a small child, "we cannot promise you anything", just over and over when I just asked where the overflow section was and if I'd need to travel through any doorways as my wheelchair is oversized. He kept saying just ask security and they'll do what they can to accommodate you but we cannot promise anything. Be was cold, rude, loudly speaking at me, admonishing me, and had zero empathy for my special needs. He treated me like I was trash and said he was busy and he already answered my question to the best of his ability but he cannot promise anything. At this point I didn't feel safe or comfortable to attend but was still trying to think of a solution. I then call back an hour later and get Scott again, much to his very audible dismay. He started right away with the "we can't promise anything" before I could even speak. I was simply calling to explain that I thought maybe instead of going for getting seated early, maybe we arrive once GA find their positions and then we get seated in overflow. I simply wanted to know if that would be a good solution and/ir would we have to part crowds to get through to that area. It was as if he couldn't even hear my words and just kept repeating over and over "we can't promise anything". At this point, I'm crying in frustration as I can't seem to get any answers to assure my comfort and to procure confidence that I could actually attend. So I ask to speak to someone else, to which he openly laughs and says sure and I can hear him laughing in the background to another box office employee as he hands the phone over. This next person, who I forget the hand over, started in explaining "we can't promise anything" and when I tried to stop him to tell him that Scott explained all of those, but I had a couple of questions. He said rudely, "can I finish?" and I said yes, but he kept on repeating things I already knew, so I tried to stop him twice more and both times, louder and with insult, "will you let me finish!". So like I was a student who needed to be sternly advised of rules or whatever, he went on. I then explained the late entry question and where the overflow is located and he just repeated that "we can't promise anything" and I said I understood that and it didn't pertain to my question and he said you'll have to ask security and I said may I be transferred to one or could I call later or was there a number to them and again, "lady, what did you not understand when I said we cannot promise anything!". I was in pure shock by this point, upset crying silently to not give him the pleasure of knowing he's affecting me, and sad as I feel the opportunity slip out of my grasp. I'd like to add in closing that people like Scott and his partner in the box office should not be the face of your establishment. They are your frontline and they've no hospitality or customer service skills whatsoever. Indifference and ego is all they offer. I'm sorry to have had to write this review and to escalate it to every level. I just want to save the next person who is handicapped or needing compassionate special needs from ever experiencing this and I'm hopeful through sensitivity training or reallocating of employees will solve things for others. I not only lost my money, but the opportunity to see that show was more valuable than ever. I hope that conveys as well. Thank you for your time and understanding, Heather N. Order # 42-33736/WES

Yelp
I know there's no I Incorporation, but as an individual, I've been producing products for television. For more than 50 years... As I look around at all the new venues around the globe.... I'm personally seeking a staple, Something that has been around for a long tim, something that has a household name... A venue that in my lifetime people were very proud to perform at.. Of course, it was sunset and los angeles the premier industry venue.. We were Rhythms, Television. We covered everything at the House of Blues based on students in terms who wanted to see different groups.... So on yesterday, 7272023, walked into the house of blues San Diego. Stay tuned for more amazing details, lights camera amazing... Thanks Alan...

Yelp
This is the sweetest polite, caring overall best asset of the House of blues. This is OC head of Security. We went to the venue twice once to see brakence and then to see Jeremy zucker. I am ADA and he helped me the whole time, find my seats and took me personally down in the elevator so that I can collect merch both times on different occasions, thank you so much House of blues and OC for your hospitality. I will definitely be back. He is an amazing person and is definitely an asset to the house of blues.

Yelp
Came here a a month ago for a Giant Rooks concert and it was even better than expected. The tickets were super inexpensive at around $20/each and it was one of my favorite shows I've been to to date. This is the perfect venue for a small band. There is lots of standing room, the bartenders are quick, and the light show and acoustics are amazing! The place itself is super eclectic with a bunch of weird art which is great to look at once you are a few drinks deep.

Yelp
Got tickets for a show at 7pm and decide to have dinner there before. I was pleasantly surprised, the staff is all super nice and the food and atmosphere was great. I wasn't too hungry so I decided to order their Crispy Brussels Sprouts and side Caesar Salad. The portions were pretty biggg to be sides, not complaining that was great! Both dishes were really good! 10/10 for both, the Brussels Sprouts were very flavorful and the Caesar had a really good dressing and all the lettuce was crisp! My boyfriend ordered the Cajon Chicken Pasta, the server warned him it was spicy. The flavor was sooo good but yes let me say it was a spicy dish but very manageable. I've had other Louisiana based pastas and most are oily just due to the sauce and peppers used so it was no surprise when we found the bottom had oil. It's a very heavy dish , definitely good to share! With the flavor being so good we didn't mind the oiliness. After we finished our food or tried to at least we had seen on the table that they have a promotion for dine in guests if you spend $25 in food/drinks you can get access whatever show is going on that night and get to skip the line. We asked our server about it even though I had already purchased tickets. She said since we already had ticket there was no skipping the line even though we did dine in. I thought that was a little disappointing but either way it was still early so we went back to the front to check in for the show, they search your purse and body scan you and then put on a bracelet according to what show your watching. We had the show in the VooDoo room which is the very front of the place. Stepped in and got a couple drinks and waited for the show. The bar is open from 7pm-10pm while the shows going on but the line got a bit confusing with the crowd. Overall good night out, good food and good show will be going back!

Yelp
First time here this past weekend. They have happy hour from 4-6 pm. The food was ok (I ordered the brisket sliders w/fries). The service was good even though it was extremely busy, I didn't get a chance to get the server's name but he definitely did a great job yesterday night. The ambiance was loud but love the music they were playing. The main purpose of coming here was to see a show (Corey). The music venue was pretty cool but if you're not used to standing for a while I definitely recommend VIP if they're offering it. As for parking, we did valet.

Yelp
We had an absolutely terrific experience at the Gospel Sunday brunch. The music was so great, the service was friendly, and the venue laid out so there wasn't a bad seat in the place.

Yelp
Saw Yngwie Malmsteen here and had a VIP table on the balcony. This house of blues is not as spacious as some of the others I've been to and the sound can be punishing after hours of exposure, not to mention if you're on the balcony then the speakers are right next to you. Had an unfortunate incident where the plastic cup served with wine was cracked and leaked all over the table but luckily not on our clothes. The only way to communicate with servers is to yell back and forth into each others ears. Typical concert stuff. Food was less than average and clearly we should've stuck to cocktails. The performance was entertaining.

Yelp
I've been going to shows all over the US and Europe since 2003 and have never in my life had such a negative experience at a venue. A girlfriend and I drove down to San Diego for a show and had nothing but bad experiences with the staff members. There was one kind bartender when we got out liquid deaths since we are sober girlies, so Kudos to him. They make you feel so unwelcome. I was enjoying the show and dancing and a staff member made a rude comment about how I was in someone's way and how I should have known better and should move (I'm a kind person and if I'm Standing somewhere I shouldn't be, I will kindly move but I was standing where everyone else was) And security makes you feel like you are trying to smuggle drugs. They tried taking away my eyebrow pencil and asked me "why is it shaped like that, it could be used as a weapon, you know." Well shoot, I don't work at the makeup company and I don't know. And gave me a hard time about my tea bags I carry around for when I'm at work because it's a natural mushroom tea (bought at Whole Foods) I understand asking questions but to make someone feel so poorly and accuse them of having weapons and drugs is a little too much. Would never attend a show here again. It's not worth it to be treated so poorly by the staff there.

Yelp
I had such a great time for a first timer. So much fun I seriously considered joining the founders club on an annual bases until I looked at the show bookings in the future and the lack of my interest with the artists. I read reviews in advance and came to the conclusion that upgrading to a VIP booth was a wise purchase considering my wife who isn't a big heavy metal fan was joining me and I didn't need her to never want to join me again. Place was packed for the Emperor show, everyone was having a great responsibile time and security did a wonderful job of keeping a close eye. The food at the restaurant was good, not great but good. Customer service was fantastic and the young lady who took care of our booth was very attentive considering how much she had. Everyone I interacted with appeared organized, clearly busy but took the time to answer my questions. The sound engineer knows his craft, lighting was spot on and 2 days later I still can't hear much out of my right ear. It is worth upgrading to VIP. Pit level did not look comfortable

Yelp
Worst venue I've ever been to, is a total scam security wouldn't let me go in without an id to an all ages concert. Let in my minor sister who is 14 with out no id and not me when I am 22.

Yelp
This is such a cool place! Came here with my brother and some friends for an ABBA disco party, it was so much fun!! The drinks were great, bartenders were friendly and it had great energy. The decor was incredible, so much cool art! We wished the dj had played more ABBA, but the House of Blues itself is one of the coolest music venues I've been to. Definitely worth it to check it out!!

Yelp
Well, if you've been to one (HOB), it's kinda like you've been to all lOl It's the same vibe. Restaurant, multiple bars, one large stage, and one small one. I came to see Eric Bellinger perform and he was dope! Security was chill and it was a cool crowd. Wish they had a coat check though because I hated holding onto my jacket. Still have yet to try any food here so my review is based solely on the venue and performance.

Yelp
Came here for the Sebastian Bach show with plans to spend good money on a meal. I was informed upon arrival that the restaurant was closed and would not be open. I am a disabled veteran so I inquired about ADA and the gentleman out front said we don't do that here. I then asked if I could use the restroom and he said absolutely not. I asked the man's name and he refused to provide it, he had red hair, a black ball cap, a Ninja turtles shirt, glasses and black pants. I witnessed him be rude to other customers as well outside in the line. HOB San Diego please don't forget you are in a military town and there are hundreds of thousands of veterans here not to mention all the active duty men and women within a few miles of your venue. DO BETTER! Teach your staff some grace and customer service.

Yelp
This is my 3rd favorite venue when they host Gimme Gimme Disco which is the best ABBA Disco party in the U.S. I've been here for 3 different shows and I'm driving down from Los Angeles on Saturday (August 3rd) too. Your DJ's make the event more fun. The DJ in March with the referee shirt and Larry the Latin guy make this event memorable. I'm looking forward to dancing. Your staff is so polite including the security. They offered me the elevator when I was struggling walking down the stairs due to an arthritic hip.
