Food was good. The place is very much dated. Not much options for the dim sum. I was expecting a little bit more. The bathroom was really bad. Broken stalls and very dirty. Please fix it.

Wondered in from exploring around. Only people there at first but two more tables came in during our twenty-minute stay. Tea was good and server nice. We ordered quickly from a menu full of choices and our food came hot very quick. Veggies tasted very fresh but the noodles were terribly overcooked. I wouldn't travel back to that part of town to eat there but would go again if in the area.

I really don't know why this place has so many negative reviews. We went for lunch on a Tuesday and it was pretty empty, so we were seated and served our dim sum almost immediately. If you're the type that thinks P.F. Chang's is considered Chinese food, then you probably won't like this place. It's also nothing like east coast Chinese food, so don't go in expecting that either. What you can expect is very good dim sum, with decor that makes me feel like I'm back in China, all without knowing how much you're going to pay for it. They fill out a sheet for every dish you take, but it's too cryptic understand. We got a lot of food and it only came to $18 between the two of us. I would definitely go again. One thing to be careful about is going after they've been serving for a while. On my second visit, we showed up near the end of lunch and some of the food was a little colder than I would have liked. Overall, we left stuffed and for not that much.

This resteraunt was practically empty when I walked in so at first it made me nervous. But, soon after choosing a seat my family and I were greeted by a kind waitress who took our order and gave us tea. When our food arrived it was AMAZING!!! There was so much flavor and everything was cooked perfectly. That's why I give this place 5 stars.😃

I love the dim sum usually always fresh and a good selection. However, today I did find a some sort of a metal wire in my lobster tail when confronting the waitress about it she just grabbed it and just said sorry. The place usually is empty which is a plus but the walls, seating areas and bathrooms are dirty and sticky not a clean environment at all. The waitresses are usually not friendly and very short and rude as well. Only reason I started goingg to House of Louie because my favorite place down the street closed Fung Chung. I will continue to keep looking for good dim sum places!

Ah yes, this was the dim sum restaurant I went to with my family while in Portland. I found the decor of the restaurant old, run down, and dirty with hardly any business, fitting in quite well with the rest of Old Chinatown in Portland. The dim sum was at best mediocre, at times tasting like reheated leftovers. I was disappointed in the limited selection and the size of some of the dishes which were rather pricey. Still, this is one of the few surviving Chinese establishments in Old Chinatown and so you might not have much choice if your in the area.

We ordered some dim sum for lunch and were not impressed. The shu mai and har gao were okay, but the cha shu bao had a really large bread to meat ratio, making them not really enjoyable to eat. The shrimp in their cheong fun were small. The hot sauce on the table tasted oddly crunchy and burnt. We ordered pork ribs and baby bok choy afterwards and they took an oddly long time to bring it out to us. I'd recommend going elsewhere.

My family and I have been dining at House of Louie since 2000 and the food has not changed... but in the best way possible! We have always been impressed with the consistent "YUM" when eating a shrimp noodle. In our 17 years of dining at the restaurant a lot has changed surrounding it, including the addition of Portland's homeless population. The only reason I am giving a star down is due to cleanliness, I have always used the restroom pre-eating at House of Louie because it's not known for being sanitary. However, I am here to preach that in 17 years no one I know has every had food-born illness from this fantastic dim sum restaurant!
