My personal Thai restaurant default is pad thai. Yes, I'm just like many another diner.
House of Siam is located in Boston's South End, on Columbus Ave. So when I tried looking for parking, there wasn't any. At least along side the sidewalks. But a car was parked on the center cobblestone. So while I wasn't about to be first, I was willing to risk parking next to the other car on a Sunday evening for a quick pop in for my take-out order.
Their version of the ubiquitous noodle dish, Pad Thai (The most famous Thai noodle dish, rice noodles pan-fried with eggs, chicken, shrimp, scallions, beans sprouts and ground peanuts) $12.95 was pink. Very pink. So pink, it made me a bit nervous to try it. But fortunately, it tasted fine. It also came with three good sized meaty shrimp, although the slices of white meat chicken were on the dry side. Makes me wonder just how many shrimp come in their shrimp Pad Thai though, for the extra $2.
Maybe I'll try their Pad CU or Pad Woon Sen next time.

I ordered their Thai Fried Rice (Stir-fried chicken, shrimp, broccoli, onions and tomatoes) and Pad Woon Sen (Pan-fried glass noodles with egg, chicken, shrimp, snow peas, green and red peppers, tomatoes, celery, bean sprouts and scallions) ($12.95 each) and a Thai Ice Tea $3.50 to go for dinner.
I appreciated that they labeled the two plastic food containers and stuck a piece of tape over the x where you insert the straw. Everything made the trip well!
While both dishes contained the same three tender shrimp and dry slices of white meat chicken as my previous Pad Thai experience, the vermicelli dish did lots better on the veggie score, while the rice looked pretty barren in the first look since onions tend to blend in, and the tomato may not have made it in, unless it had melted into the dish?
Flavors were good though! And I fully enjoyed their Thai Ice tea.
Maybe I'll try their Eggplant Delight (ground chicken may fare better), Tofu Delight, and Vegetable Fried Rice sometime. The Thai Ice Tea and Pad Woon Sen bear repeating.
