The 8 Best Filipino Restaurants in Daly City, South San Francisco, and Colma | Eater SF

"Silvanas look like a cross between a French macaron and an ice cream sandwich, which isn’t far from the truth. At House of Silvanas, the frozen desserts consist of two cashew-meringue wafers coated with colorful cookie crumbs and a layer of buttercream in between. Show-stopping flavors include the mango, strawberry, ube, and buko pandan." - Elaine Wu

Google
Found this Filipino bakery tucked up on the hills. They have very limited pastries specializing only in sans rival, brazo de Mercedes, enseymada, and polvoron. All worth the visit!

Google
I don't know why there are 2 different colors of layers in my UBE silvana but it was alright. Second my daughter took a bite from her UBE silvana and she pulled a string of some sort out of it and had to throw the whole silvana. What a waste and for the price I purchased it for. Beware and check each bite you take into that Silvana.

Google
The silvanas here were very yummy. We tried the pandan and the original and they were both really good. Not too sweet and pretty light with a good crispy texture. The person working was super friendly and knowledgable as well. Would recommend and return if I am in the area!

Google
The original Silvana doesn’t disappoint! The cupcake was extra small and nothing better than a regular chocolate cupcake. Pricing is too high for what you get. Still worth a visit at least once.

Google
highly recommend the silvanas here for dessert (esp after eating at chibog). the original and ube were both amazing but slightly preferred the original. update 02/05/24: tries the sans rival. pretty tasty but a little too rich and buttery for my taste

Silvanas were to die for here! They even let me try one out before I bought since I had never had it before. I really appreciate the staff’s generosity and knowledge about all the items that are sold

Google
So yummy. I get two boxes every time I'm anywhere near here!

Google
Delicious. Not much more I can say about this. At first the texture of the pastries was a bit different, but after I got use to it, I was able to enjoy the delicious taste that House of Silvanas is known for. P.S. Don't forget to get some of the individually wrapped candies in the right counter. They are little gems.

Yelp
The buttercream Silvana is DELICIOUS!!! They have a variety of flavors and all of them are soo good! I love having a dessert after I eat in Chebog!!

Yelp
We very rarely come to the Daly City area as we live in Sacramento, so when we do, we always make it a point to pass by House of Silvañas when we're in the neighborhood. Simply because of the pastries they sell. Most of all for me, the Sans Rival is not to be missed! It is on a level of quality and taste that its closest competitors cannot match...not by miles! The sans rival is so good...the meringue is so crunchy and the buttercream is so rich! The place is just small, but the service is just great. And the staff is a friendly and helpful bunch. But it is what they sell that stands out most! If you are in the area, you just have to try their sweets!

Yelp
If you want Silvanas or Sansrival, you have to go to the House of Silvanas in Daly City. This place reminds me of when I was a little child in the Philippines. It's one of our favorite pastries and cakes. The place is next to a Filipino restaurant and it's easy to find. It's also next to a large Mercedez Benz dealer. The place has 7 choices Silvanas, Buko Pandan, Original Buttercream, Ube, Chocolate, Strawberry, Mango, and Mocha. There's a combo price for 14 pieces (2 of each) at a reasonable price. We ended up getting this so that we could taste all the flavors. The service was very fast and the lady behind the counter was very helpful. They also offer ensaimada and cheese rolls. The Sansrival looks delicious but we've to pass on them since we ordered a lot of Silvanas. If you're craving for Silvanas or Sansrival, the House of Silvanas is a go-to place

Yelp
A very small bakery specializing in Silvanas. Ended up finding this gem after pulling up next door to Chibog for lunch. I had never heard or Silvanas before, so I was intrigued, and went after lunch to take a look and try it. In terms of service/ambiance, it is very bare bones. Until you ring the bell for service, no one will come greet or welcome you to the bakery. There were a few other pastries available other than silvanas. And one silvanas were in a freezer behind the display. After ringing the bell for service, the attending employee was kind of rude and stand-offish and not very approachable. As a first time customer to the bakery and to Silvanas, my friends and I had questions such as which were the most popular flavors, what different terms meant, whether it was best eaten now vs would hold well for takeout, etc. But the responses were very short and not friendly. This is mostly a takeout spot, as the indoors is not tailored for sit down eating.. even though we were told the silvanas were best enjoyed there. I got the Buko-pandan silvana, and it is a crunchy cookie with buttercream in the middle. Because it was stored in the freezer and best served cold, the outer cookie has a crisp to it and a tasted faintly like something that was freeze dried or stored in dry ice. I'm glad I tried it, but not sure I'd be coming back for more. My friends and I were told that the original flavor was the most popular

Yelp
To die for! I heard this is the original Silvanas and indeed I have tried others that pale in comparison. Worth the drive and the price.

Yelp
I always have to make a stop here whenever I'm in the area, just because their silvanas are delicious. Store was empty when I came in due to the rain, but the inside of the store was very lackluster. I'm sure everyone comes in to just get their desserts, but the displays could probably be done up a little more, and there were freezers outside in the customer area that weren't to be touched? A little odd, but maybe there's something put there seasonally. When we went, silvanas cost $3.50 a piece or 14 for $36. I love their desserts, but their store definitely leaves a lot to be desired.

Yelp
A hidden treasure! I heard about House of Silvanas on social media. If you don't know what silvanas are, I like to think of them kind of like a Filipino version of a French macaron. French macarons are sandwich cookies made from almond meal while Filipino silvanas are sandwich cookies made from crushed cashews. If you've ever had Sans Rival cake, the Silvanas are just a cookie version of that. My boyfriend and I stopped in a few months ago just so I could try them out, at the time we only got 3 pieces, and they turned out to be super delicious! I was obsessed that I had him go back a week later and get me more! he ended up buying me the assorted 14-piece box haha. I do have to say though that they're obviously way better when they're fresh. They lose their nice texture even when you freeze them, so next time I'll just buy what I can finish that day. My favorite flavors were the original and strawberry. Perfect dessert to bring to a potluck or to gift someone.

Yelp
Oh my goodness. The silvanas - I can't really find a good description for them aside from being crispy macaron like sandwich cookies that are very sweet but extremely good. Interesting flavors such as ube and pandan. Really unique find and they are amazing !!! Worth getting for sure.

Yelp
I remember in the Philippines when growing up Silvanas were popular even though they are a little bit expensive than the rest. They made the single serving wrapped individually. It was good then but trying them here I was disappointed really. Ive had them more than a couple times but it was for the last several years. Just recently after 2-3 years not having them, I find it too sweet now and too much butter! Too much butter in between and on the toppings too. The bread in between looks like a white toasted bread and theres not that much peanuts. Im sorry to say but I like Goldilocks better now. Everything is perfect. The butter, the fillings and peanuts.

Yelp
We've been loyal customers since this place opened, always ordering our special occasion cakes and silvanas here. We called to order a hazelnut sans rival for pick-up, and we were assured it was available. However, when we arrived, we were handed a regular sans rival instead. The staff claimed we didn't order hazelnut, but my husband specifically requested it twice during the call, and I was right there to confirm it. To make matters worse, we had ordered and fully paid for a half-sheet sans rival ($110), yet the owner suggested we take a 1/4 sheet instead. That wasn't an option since we needed a half-sheet cake. Ultimately, we had no choice but to take the incorrect cake, even though it wasn't what we wanted. We weren't asking for a free cake - just an acknowledgment of their mistake. Instead, three staff members insisted we were the ones at fault, treating us like we lied about the order. On top of this, the quality has noticeably declined. The butter icing tastes different - it seems like they might have changed brands or started using a mixture of butter and something else instead of all butter. To make matters worse, the meringue was overbaked, leaving it with a burnt taste. You can see from the photo how dark and almost burnt the layers are. This experience has been deeply disappointing, especially given our long-standing loyalty to this establishment.

Yelp
At first glance, it looks like they're either closed or being replaced with another business because of the way the shop looks from the outside. Even inside the bakery, there's really not much going on other than a few dessert treats displayed but most are empty shelves. I'm assuming most of the pastries are coming from the main freezer which is at the register. My wife and I ordered a variety of Silvanas: original butter cream, ube, and buko pandan. Each were truly delicious and has a creamy texture with a crisp outer shell. It's almost like a crispy French macaron. Silvanas are basically merengue with crushed cashew. We also ordered a small cake of Sans rival which is the cousin of the Silvana. Their sans rival is creamy and has that nice snap due to the layered meringue. I wish there was a House of Silvanas in the South Bay! There is a huge Filipino community down in San Jose/Santa Clara area and this would be perfect in the area. I think these Filipino treats would make noise if they spread out more. People need to know about these and try these because they are tasty and unique. We'll be back!

Yelp
Bought (9) Ensaimadas of varying flavors @ $3.50 each and they were awful. Just awful. Maybe worth $1, if that. They were dry, light (not in a good way) and small. I did not enjoy them at all. I rarely post negative reviews but I felt compelled to do so on this one because they were just awful.

Yelp
I visited this location on a weekday afternoon. There was no line, and essentially nobody in the store. This is a no frills, ring bell for service type of store, but the staff was still really nice and patient. This store is tucked away in a plaza, but parking is ample in the lot. I got 3 silvanas to hit the $10 minimum for card, and was recommended the original, ube, and pandan flavors. I wasn't quite sure what these were initially, but was told they're like ice cream sandwiches but much lighter frozen cream. I think that was a pretty accurate representation. They were quite as chewy as macarons, but not as thick, melty as ice cream. They're super easy to eat since they're not quite icy or heavy - potentially dangerous to buy a lot of and just snack on. I think these would make a great dessert after a large meal/gathering.

Yelp
Buttery goodness. They use to have one in LA. I had to make a stop here while in the Bay Area. It is a little pricey but it's worth the experience of having it again.

Yelp
I ordered one of each flavor of the silvanas - every single one was a banger. Me personally I loved the ube. Service was attentive and patient. It's a small place, but THIS is the spot for your sans rival needs. I swear this almost made me forget allll the years my parents would order me sans rival from Goldilock's. Great place, I'm itching to go back.

Yelp
Just stopped in for a quick snack while we waited for Chibog. I got the Original Silvanas and a cookies and cream Polvoron. I guess they are know for these frozen Silvanas treats. Essentially they are like frozen macaroons. If you like macaroons you will love these. I think they are good but not great. I loved the Polvoron. Yes it's chalky and dry but that's the idea. Nibble on it and you won't be sorry. A unique little spot. I can't imagine there are many places in the Bay Area that make these items. (4.1 Stars)
google avatar

Aura A.

Yelp
The only other place I know that sells silvanas/sylvanas is Goldilocks and hands down this place is better. I love the crunchy/chewiness of the meringue cookies and the frozen flavored buttercream taste so good as it melts in your mouth. I appreciate that you can taste the ground cashews but it's not overpowering like the silvanas I used to get at Goldilocks where it's coated with large chunks of cashews. The other dessert I've tasted is their mini sansrival which is the older sister of the silvana. The mini sansrival looked like a very small cake that would fit on the palm of your hand. It was cute. When I tasted the mini sansrival it was too sweet and couldn't finish it without having to drink lots of water. The flavored buttercream was tasty but overpowering and the layers of the meringue cookies were too thin. I wanted to really like the sansrival but even for me it was too sweet and I bleed white chocolate. My overall rating for House of Silvanas is 3.5 stars and that's just for the taste of the silvanas. They would be a 4 if the sansrival wasn't too sweet AND they would be a 5 if it wasn't gourmet pricing. If the cost was lower and reasonable then I would be willing to sacrifice my waistline and get a box or two of silvanas every week.

Yelp
Quick serving here. We went on a none busy day here. The desserts here are so good. Polvoron cookies and cream shape of a heart and it tastes so delicious. The ensemada cheese is my favorite here. So soft and cheesy just like how i like it. You can just order here to go since there is no place for you to eat inside.
google avatar

Rona B.

Yelp
Perfectly sweet and crumbly dessert. These are frozen and close to having a little ice cream macaron sandwich. The cookies are super light and airy with a crunchy texture that just melts in your mouth. I wanted to eat this whole bag in a sitting because they tasted so yummy. My favorite flavors were mocha and ube. The shop is very small and may be hard to locate if you miss the plaza!

Yelp
1 star only cuz the actual product is delicious. And I got time But the service here is terrible. I walked in she said hi. Then she saw me kind of looking around and I'm like do you guys have a menu? Her: no we don't (and just points at the pictures of the products on the wall) Me: well I wish you did because it would be nice to know how much each costs Her: sorry we just don't have one Me: oh how much is each? How much is total for a box? How much is a cheese slice? How much is the sansrival cake? How much is in each box? How much is a mini? What does the mini look like? She then proceeds to tell me how much but with like some attitude that she has to tell me. LIKE BRUH. Y'all talking about struggling during pandemic but you can't even make a damn MENU. I hated having to ask so many times how much is something it was annoying. I ended up getting 1 of each Silvana I said thank you and she just doesn't say anything. Y'all raise the prices but it don't even match with the service.

Yelp
Known for their special Frozen Silvanas Cookie Treats. Best when eaten frozen. Best description, a light frozen cookie filled with a delicious creamy flavored center, surrounded by a crunchy cashew light layer of cookie shell. The Calamansi Squares were amazing, as well as their Ube cheese roll. I'm definitely going back to try their other specialties. The last time I ate these Silvanes desserts was in the Philippines. Never knew about this bakery until a client shared them at her home. My new go-to local Philippines bakery dessert shop specializes in Silvanas Cookie Treats! Surprised my family with an assortment shown in the photo. Was a definite hit!

Yelp
This is a different take on the Silvanas, Smaller bite size pieces. There are different flavors the Ube is my favorite.I love the different flavors, the Service is ok they explained to me the different flavors . The store is simple and clean. I would recommend that you try so you can taste it.
google avatar

Elle E.

Yelp
The desserts are always consistent and delicious. It's always a treat for us to stop here when we are in town. I miss having it closer to us in LA, but I'm glad it is far away because I will really be in trouble if it is still a quick drive like before to DTLA. The service is quick. The ambiance is a clean space for all orders to go.

Yelp
It's almost been a 10 year gap, prior to returning and I'm very glad that I was able to come back. I'm a big fan of the Sans Rival cake (cashew meringue), which by the way means - without rival. I recall my mom making this from scratch and it was her specialty. And Silvanas are basically miniature versions of the Sans Rival cake, cut into a cookie or macaroon shape and then dipped into assorted flavors. Brilliant right?! Well, they no longer sell these individually and for a box of 14, it's like $33 bucks. You also have to keep these frozen and eat them as such, to maintain that crunch. Taking your first bite is heavenly but you should have a cup of coffee to clear your taste buds for the next flavor. Otherwise, I found the flavors all becoming similar in taste. Of course, I loved the ube and chocolate the most but you have to try all of the flavors so that you can compare. Oh...Bring a cooler if you don't plan to eat all 12 Silvanas on-site. You'll need to keep these frozen and fresh.

Yelp
My childhood bakery! I remember going to House of Silvanas when I was little in the Philippines. This is their only location in America and they're only open from Thurs-Sun. Silvanas are cashew merengue with buttercream in the middle. They have multiple flavors like original, ube, buko pandan, mocha, chocolate, and strawberry. It's sooo good! It melts in your mouth. They sell a box with 14pcs. It's a little pricy for $34 but it's so worth the try. I got 6 originals, and two of each--ube, buko pandan, chocolate, and mocha. My favorite is original, but the ube and buko pandan are good too.

Yelp
Filipino Macarons I've never heard of Silvanas Bakeshop and I visit the Bay Area every now and then and it took photos posted by Gerry T for me to even find out about this confectionery shop. Silvanas is located in Daly City, a little less than 2 hours drive... Gerry lives in Illinois! Anyway, thanks for your drool-worthy photos, Gerry! These giant looking macarons they call Silvanas are actually like wafer cookies. They are crunchy, creamy and yummy and they come in different, colorful flavors. Akin to an Oreo cookie, the buttercream is sandwiched between two wafers and coated with cookie crumbs. The flavors offered were: buttermilk (original flavor), mocha, chocolate, mango, strawberry, buko pandan (green), and ube (purple). I personally am not a fan of the buko pandan nor the ube. They also have other Filipino classic desserts... enseymadas, polvoron, sans rival, brazo de Mercedes... and what? cheese rolls? This could be my Filipino Porto's Dare I say it is worth every calorie? I was about to buy more silvanas but I was told they have to be refrigerated so I have to come back next time with a cooler and dry ice LoL Review #2443

Yelp
I'm honestly confused as to how this place has such high reviews. It's not welcoming, the customer service is really low, there aren't any food products in the case, nor is there any signage to even indicate what they're selling. Basically, if you didn't know what a silvana was, you'd be SOL because the employee working there couldn't describe anything. When we asked her what brazo de mercedes was, all she said was uh.. do you want me to show it to you? I mean... we do eat with our eyes, but we would still like a better description. My sisters and I came in to try out their silvanas. I'm a pro yelper so I knew what to expect. They do NOT allow you to buy by piece. If you want to try their silvanas, you have to order by the box. One box is 14 pieces for $33, so yea, kinda pricey. The upside is you do have to keep these frozen, so if you don't have anyone to share with, at least you can keep it preserved for when you want to eat it. Silvanas are essentially a frozen cashew cookie, with a buttercream filling, and then coated in cookie powder. They sell an assortment of flavors: mango, strawberry, ube, buko pandan, original, mocha and chocolate. I got a few of each except the mocha and chocolate. Of all the flavors, I felt the ube and buko pandan was the best, but my sister liked the original. We heard a lot about sans rival cake too so we opted to get a mini size. The mini size is seriously mini. It's about the size of 1.5 hostess cupcakes stacked together. For $11... this is pretty pricey. I don't mind paying for a quality dessert, but we all agreed this cake was really bad. They had two flavors, original or toblerone. The employee said the original is the best. Well... if this is the best, I can't imagine how bad the other one is. Between 4 of us, we shared a quarter of the cake and that was enough (basically one bite each). It has a similar silvana texture inside but the outside was basically just butter. I know it's supposed to be a butter cream but it was soooo salty and the texture of the butter cream literally just like if you took a bite of a butter stick. It was completely off putting. So many people rave about sans rival cake, so I'm thinking it was just poor execution at this spot, versus the actual cake itself. I've had much more flavorful silvanas elsewhere, so this spot as a whole was disappointing from the products, to service, and everything else in between :(

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with their crunchy cracker things. It tastes like a mix between a macaroon ice cream sandwich and a biscuit through its neither. Got their coconut and their coffee one and thought they were uniquely interesting. My favorite is their crunchy butter cookies. Good find in an obscure part of South San Francisco.
google avatar

Julia S.

Yelp
I've been going here for 4-5 years and it's always good! They have original, strawberry, chocolate, ube, mango, buko pandan, and mocha. The strawberry and ube silvanas are my favorite flavor, but the mocha is the least sweet. The silvanas are airy and light. A box with 2 of each flavor (14 silvanas total) is $33, good value and a perfect treat to bring to a party or potluck!
google avatar

Jon S.

Yelp
It seems like it's not a bake shop when you go inside the shop is so warm inside no displays and the sylvannas that i was craving for is not like what i expected... too creamy feels like eating butter. And the ensymada is too creamy and bread with s a little dry. Sorry i am just not satisfied.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
I 'stumbled' upon House of Silvanas because I was picking up takeout from another restaurant in the shopping center. I saw their sign, was curious, and pulled out my trust Yelp app. Hmmmm, interesting...why not. I walked into the shop and was greeted by a nice woman who explained to me what they were and told me about their box of assorted silvanas that I can keep in the freezer. What a colorful assortment! Well, I bought two boxes, took them home and they are just simply great - light and airy, not extremely sweet, and has that merengue texture. Highly recommend! And when we are done with our 2 boxes.....going back for a replenishment!

Yelp
Stopped here to try the Silvanas and ended up trying Original, Ube, Buko-Pandan and Strawberry. Have to say my favorite was the Ube. The flavors were good and I enjoyed this one the most. The Bill-Pandan wasn't as flavorful and I really only noticed the flavor at the end of each bite. the original was good and the strawberry was ok as well but be sure to try the Ube. Also tried the polvoron which wasn't my favorite. There was something a bit off with the flavor like it had picked up another flavor while it was being made. Also fell apart super easily making it difficult to eat. I would still with the Silvanas!

Yelp
Silvanas are SOOOO hard to come by in the US so this place is a godsend. I've looked high and low for one of my favorite desserts from my childhood and this place really delivers it. So House of Silvanas is a place with slightly odd hours, at least from what it says online. It seems like it closes early but when I went, the posted hours were a bit different. I wish I took a photo to share here, but I didn't get a chance to. My recommendation would be to call and double check because they are definitely open more days of the week. Other than that, they offer a handful of flavors of silvanas. My favorite are the classic and ube ones. Be sure to keep it frozen, otherwise your cookies will just be mushy and go bad. They have other desserts too, if I recall correctly, more pastry type things. Oh and if House of Silvanas is closed, Chibog, the restaurant next door, does also carry them at times so be sure to check there!

Yelp
I'm literally ALWAYS in this area because I have plenty of family living right down the road from House of Silvanas, and I only recently found out about it because I was looking for the best sans rival cake in the Bay Area to buy for my boyfriend's birthday. I'm so sad that I didn't know about House of Silvanas until recently, but I guess better late than never! I came by on a Friday looking to buy a quarter sheet sans rival to take to a bar the next day as a surprise to pull out for my boyfriend's special day, and was lucky enough to get the last of the cakes available. I asked if there was any available for the following morning, but was told that the following day no one would be making cakess. The staff noted that the last one available was a little cracked, but I didn't care - I read up on so many good things about this place's sans rival. I contemplated getting the one with Toblerone in it, but was told it only came in the smaller personalized sizes. Since there was going to be a bunch of people, the quarter sheet was the better choice. At the bar the following night, IT TRULY SHOWED OUT. I've never tasted a sans rival as smooth as this one, and it had the perfect crunch to it too! The week after, I got my boyfriend and his family to come back to House of Silvanas and we got to order a box of the silvanas and the Toblerone sans rival! Everything was made to perfection and I honestly wish the Toblerone version of the cake was made into a larger size because creating it was ABSOLUTE GENIUS! Now I know where to buy a good quality sans rival cake and set of silvanas for more parties, and I'm looking forward to indulging in more!

Yelp
The House of Silvanas offers a unique kind of dessert that's similar to a macaron, but with a softer outer shell. You have the option to buy a box of assorted flavors (14 pieces, two of each flavor, that costs $33) or you can choose your own. They offer original, mocha, ube, buko pandan, strawberry, mango, and chocolate. While each of the cookies were crunchy and sweet, the various flavors options tasted exactly how you would expect them to. The buttercream filling is the most pronounced, making the flavors of the non-original cookies be more subtle. It's a good snack if you're craving something similar to a macaron. Although it's different from anything I've had before, I don't think it's something I'll be craving. It was also quite pricey so I probably won't come back as often.

Yelp
COVID-19 TAKEOUT Maybe it's just me but the older I get, the less tolerance I have for sugary sweets. I still crave sweets from time-to-time but I find some of the Silvanas here are hella schaaaaaaweeeeet. Enough booger sugar to make me think I can still do cart wheels without breaking in half. One is more than enough for me. But, my opinion doesn't matter because I usually buy a box Silvanas for others and every recipient has enjoyed it...at least, that's what they tell me. What are Silvanas? They're frozen cookie sandwiches - cashew meringue wafers filled with buttercream and coated with cookie crumbs. Think Pinoy macarons. Silvanas come in a array of vibrant colors and flavors: Original, Ube (the best IMO), Buko Pandan, Mango, Mocha, Strawberry, Chocolate, etc. During COVID-19, House of Silvanas is open for takeout Friday-Saturday, 11 am - 5 pm and Sunday, 11 am - 3 pm. During off hours, some items can also be found at Chibog next door. Like others, I was surprised to find that the prices have gone from $1.85 to $3/Silvana. It's now $33 for a box of 14. $10 cc minimum. It's very challenging and unprecedented times so I understand the need for price increases to pay rent and pay employees a fair wage but training is needed... While watching the masked lady put together a box of silvanas for me, she used her gloved hand to swing the back door open, came back and used the same gloved hand to open the freezer case. She then used the same gloved hand to pick up the silvanas. Cross-contamination, yo. Pre-COVID, I wouldn't have cared so much but we're in a pandemic now. And, reading the review below noting that the cashier wasn't wearing a mask? Eeeck. I try to support small businesses as much as I can. BUT.... Please think about the safety of your entire staff and customers, and train staff on CDC/FDA guidelines on PPE and proper safe food handling practices. Salamet.

Yelp
They don't appreciate return of business!!! I always call in ahead of time to do my orders. Not just one. But a lot of orders every two weeks. I came across their people and so far their customer service is getting worse being this as my Nth order every two weeks. I am actually promoting their products for FREE FREE FREE on my Facebook page. I just feel that the business I am giving them is not appreciated. I called in just to ensure that I will be able to buy something because my order will be brought from South San Francisco to another state. And the one who answered said that I can just walk in because they have A LOT of stocks! Ok. I get it. You have a lot of stocks BUT what if that day, a customer decided to buy all of the stocks??? And that person who called ahead of time just to make sure he or she will have the stocks reserved had nothing to order or buy anymore? So what now??? Don't get me wrong, the product is good. A little pricey, oh so pricey... But still good. It is the customer service that I'm ranting about specially that we are coming from out of town just to get your product. Now, I'm thinking not to include this vendor as part of my business.

Yelp
This was my very first time having silvanas. It just looked pretty. I'm a huge fan of ube and pandan, so seeing those flavors urged me to try this thing even more. I told my college roommate about it, she just exclaimed "ohh, Filipino macarons." Now I'm more curious, gotta go and try it. It's an airy, sandwich looking dessert. Ok, I can see why she called it Filipino macaron. Went to the store during their shortened COVID hours. It was right next to Chibog and I totally missed it last time I was in that plaza. Went in, only some of the other pastries were on display, so i just had to rant out the flavors. I straight up told the lady there that I've never had it, so she recommended the original, which has a nutty flavor. I tried that along with ube and pandan. They do have a $10 minimum on cards. My 3 silvanas were $3 each, so i slapped on this muffin bread thing called ensaimada. Got the cheese one, they have an ube one too, but lets try other things while knowing what ube tastes like. I was told silvanas taste better when kept frozen. Guess they'll have to wait. I tried the ensaimada first. It was so soft!!! Im a cheese fan but I'm not sure if i liked that particular cheese. It had a sweet residue. I took another bite to try to see if I like it or not, while embracing how soft it was. I later read its a sweet brioche topped with a sugary grated cheese coat. Maybe just not for me, I'll try the other flavor next time. Ok, the silvanas sat in the freezer and time to test those babies out! I love how it's a blend of soft and crisp. It breaks nicely along my teeth marks, but it's so airy, like a meringue cookie. Overall it wasn't too sweet or overwhelming. Although the original was nice, I can see why people like it, my favorite was the buko pandan!! I can definitely go for it again and again. Well, maybe with other flavors or upgrade to an assorted box.

Yelp
I wrote an honest review about my experience and the owner had the audacity to message me about how disappointing my review was and that I should feel and be more compassionate during this time. As you can see, my previous review only said it is not worth the drive and the money but the owner acted as if I degrade their business and attacked them. I am completely aware that businesses have laid off people but that has nothing to do with my review. And just because COVID-19 is happening, it does not mean that everyone should receive a five star even though their experience isn't satisfying. It goes to show how they run their business. Don't open a business if you can't take a simple criticism well. Please take a look at their message towards me and my response.

Yelp
Everything I've tried here has been super tasty and fresh. Service is quick as well, no seating inside and parking is sometimes busy but no issues so far.

Yelp
The BEST silvanas!!! I have been a fan of House of Silvanas back in the Philippines and I was ecstatic to find out that they also have a branch here in the US. Silvanas are frozen cashew meringue and buttercream sandwiches covered in cookie crumbs. I've tried all their flavors, the original flavor is still the best. Make sure you call ahead of time if you are planning to order a lot. I called a day ahead for 14 boxes.

Yelp
Amazing service. The manager is awesome here. Their silvanas are soooo good! Every time we drive down to the bay we get us a few boxes!

Yelp
MY FAVORITE DESSERT PLACE SINCE I WAS LITTLE! Being from SoCal, I was very sad when our location closed down. Since then, I have always made it a mission to make a stop to bring back whenever I or other family make a trip to SF. Growing up, I never had much of a sweet tooth. But I was and ALWAYS will be in the mood for Sans Rival or Silvanas (the Original being my favorite). The combination of the flavors and texture works so well and House of Silvanas has perfected this recipe for years! Definitely a treat I always savor!

Yelp
House of Silvanas is a Filipino dessert shop and bakery with pretty limited hours. To cater to the palate of their clientele, things here are on the sweeter side, though the silvanas aren't too bad. For me, the silvanas sort of have a freezer burn taste and smell, don't vary too greatly between each flavor, and have a slightly stale texture, which is why I think they're just okay. Price does seem a little high especially through the most recent years, so I think I'd personally do better with my money getting other desserts. On a bright note, these silvanas are essentially crispy wafer cookies with a thick whip cream spread in the middle, Oreo-style. Because of its crisp nature and the flavored dust coating it, it's a little messy to eat if you're not careful. While I'm generally one for subtlety, I'd say that the flavor doesn't matter too much since the essence is just a hint of it. If you've had one flavor, you can really just imagine what the other ones taste like. I imagine they're addictive to people because I don't feel quite satisfied eating one (almost tastes hollow), and think the next one is going to somehow taste better. They have special flavors of silvanas from time to time. The red velvet had a generic sweet flavor - didn't really get red velvet from it other than the color. Cookie butter did have a faint gingerbread taste that mixed well with the cream. I'd say I enjoyed their smaller wrapped desserts a lot, as they were interesting to try and reasonably priced. The mango bar is pleasantly mango flavored and a safe option. The food for the gods I couldn't quite put my finger on - it was just a subtly sweet biscuit, and kind of had a rye bread taste. The calamansi square had a nice tart, slightly sour jam between the biscuit. Polvoron tastes like a mixture of sugar and flour... very interesting to say the least. Get this if you like sugary dust? They all definitely make a cute sampler baggie for someone wanting to try some Filipino sweets. Now, what's truly addictive here are the lenguas de gato. They are literally just thin crisps of buttery... crisps! Super buttery, super crispy. I had the ube flavor and while I thankfully didn't taste too much ube, I seriously wanted to eat the whole container right then and there. For $8, very expensive but THIS is the thing that's actually addictive.

Yelp
Every time we happen to be on this side of the Bay, House of Silvanas is closed! We were finally able to stop by 30 minutes before closing. I thought they had ran out of their Silvanas since their display freezer was empty. Don't be alarmed though! They actually keep them in a separate freezer. We decided to get their assortment box of 14 (two of each flavor). The flavors that they have are: buttermilk, chocolate, mocha, strawberry, mango, matcha, and ube. When you bite into them, there's a nice crunch. They remind me of wafers, but more crunchy and have more filling. My favorite flavor was the mocha. The flavor comes out a lot more (some of the flavors like their ube and matcha are really subtle). Hands down, addicting desserts!

Yelp
These are so amazing!!! The reason for 3 starts is I think they're overpriced. I feel that they should have some type of give when people by a dozen of Silvanas or something at least.

Yelp
Three stars with the potential of four if they hire better help. Their Silvanas are yum and I've order boxes for special events. Better off ordering from a machine or preorder online.

Yelp
My Bff really wanted to come here and since they were open on the weekend we went. They didn't have any sans rival available and that was what I wanted to try the most . We ordered 1 of each Silvana and 1 chocolate ensaymada . The Silvanas are frozen and it's recommended to eat them soon . They are kind of like macarons, but instead of almond flour ground cashew nuts are used . I liked the Pandan and cookie butter flavor the most . They are really sweet so it's hard to eat more than a few at a time . I will be back if I want a sweet treat but I am not usually a fan of these types of desserts.
