On the Grid : House of Vintage

"“House” is a bit of an understatement. All told, there are more than thirty different vendors under this one roof, in a sprawling maze of rooms full of vintage clothes, furniture, and knick-knacks. It really has a funhouse vibe to it, you could wind your way through the racks and shelves more just to see what's around the corner than to actually buy anything. But if you do need a great track jacket, poodle skirt, pop art print, or lava lamp, House of Vintage has you covered." - Kevin M. Fitzgerald

"Carve out a decent amount of time for the cavernous House of Vintage, a warehouse full of reasonably-priced old Levi’s, rock tees, colorful nylon jackets, and lace dresses, among many many other things—the shop is a prop and costume supplier for TV shows such as Portlandia, The Librarians, and Grimm."

They have two entrances, didn’t think much of it till it became an issue later. Things are pretty overpriced considering it’s hand picked from Goodwill vibes. I think they have some idea that cutting off/messily cropping the bottom of a fraying polyester shirt makes it hip and worth more? Many items have literal dust on them, makes you feel like you need to wash your hands after touching most of it. I had some things in hand and was making my way into the second room to purchase when some kind of security guy rushed up to me saying they have to lock my bag up. Apparently they have a “no bags policy”. I didn’t come in the special door with the sign so I didn’t see it. I saw plenty of other people with their big purses all over the store. Apparently my tote bag was too much. They won’t guarantee the safety of your “bag”, so i decided not to by the $80 worth of clothes I was considering. Oh well, not going back. I don’t work long hours all week to be criminally profiled and treated as such on my day off.

So the value of this thrift shop, you are just not going to find it. It's way too much not only for this city, but for what it's worth. But since I spoke to parker and there is a lot of need for these clothes over seas and people come here and buy them. Psh I say go for it. With THAT being said, I still had a great time here. Gotta be honest up front. This was one of the two stores I wanted to visit. I can imagine how poppin this can be. I came during a slow season thank God, I was able to snag a couple of items. This place for sure is easy $$$ plus. I love the choices i selected and they are timeless pieces I found. Can't be mad. My only issue is the parking, I found a parking spot right in front, If theres like more than 10 cars I can imagine I have to park a couple blocks away to find a spot. Other than that, cool experience for my first time.

Google
The shopping experience was pleasant, with jazzy music, and a serpentine like organization to the various racks and booths. The selection of clothing and items was interesting, there was even a decent collection of science fiction books and magazines. Most of the sizes were smaller and I didn't see much in the women's XL, size 14 range. Like most reviews said prices were a little high, with items being about 25% higher than they should have been for their condition. Ultimately, I would have bought more if I had felt like items were more fairly priced.

Google
Size Inclusive and Fair Prices! A true gem of a vintage store with fair pricing when you put into consideration the age, brand, and condition of the pieces you're looking at (ex: a near perfect 1960's heavy winter jacket from a small American brand that no longer exists may run about $180). Also LOVED being about to find clothes that actually fit in the women's section! For reference I'm a size 16 and 5'7". Staff is so kind and you'll see them walking around cleaning and ready for any questions you may have.

Google
You cannot beat the selection of vintage clothing here. In 10+ years of visiting thrift shops, I've never seen anywhere that competes. They also sort a lot of the clothing by style and color which makes it much easier to find what you're looking for in a sea of stuff.

Google
If you want to come here for a laugh at how ridiculous the prices are this is your place. Selling new items for more than what the original store sold them at. Dirty and stained clothes that are definitely not worth the price. They're selling these little single mushroom plug-in lights for $14 a piece when you can buy a six-pack on Amazon for like $10.

Google
Yeah, honestly, everything was over priced, and the only sizes they seemed to have are tiny people. This is definitely the kind of vintage store I would expect to find in Portland. I'm sure people will pay 60 dollars for a twisted sister Tshirt with holes in it, but it won't be me. People seemed nice enough though.

Google
This place is super amazing! It reminds me of the cool stores in S.F. Off of Hate and Ashberry! I took my daughter here to look for a dress for her 16th birthday party. She went here with a friend last summer so we drove 45 minutes away to get here. She was super excited about it and was talking about this store for weeks!

Yelp
ALOT. OF. CLOTHES. Love the color grouping and size grouping. A little pricey but that's expected for a place like this. Super fun to check out!!

Yelp
Honestly, not sure what the draw is here. There is so much competition in this town for vintage shops, most of which are far better organized and laid out than this one. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the layout here. Clothing was also not sorted by size in any way, when going through a few racks, children's t shirts were mixed with adult sizes. Prices seemed all over the place as well. house of Vintage is big and sprawling, maybe thats the draw? Staff were all friendly and helpful!

Yelp
Huge vintage thrift store with lots of neat stuff! Really cool place to thrift but is really expensive unfortunately, even though there are 60 different sellers. For example, these home dyed goofy shorts were over 40 bucks... and a single basic t-shirt is anywhere from 25 bucks and up. Fun place to look around but be ready to spend an excessive amount of money on "vintage" items. Really wish it was more affordable because otherwise it's a really awesome store with a great selection!!
google avatar

Yelp
Cute furniture pieces and home goods, wouldn't go there to buy clothes unless I saw a piece I really enjoyed! Everything is pretty expensive for what it is.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a fun spot to look around in! I wondered around with my friends for at least an hour looking through the different sections and types of clothing. There were a lot of really cool retro t-shirts along with dressier clothes and styles from different decades. I will say the prices on a lot of items are high, so unless you LOVE it or find something specific you're looking for, you probably won't be spontaneously grabbing items. The organization is also a bit clunky, so you really want to look through all the sections to see everything they have. If we were local, I could see us visiting to browse and maybe for specific occasions.

Yelp
Kind of surprised at the medium-ish rating on this shop. Sure, I've been sticker-shocked on some items that I've been curious about, but I don't personally go here expecting to find anything that I actually want to buy. I bring out of town friends there because it's super interesting. Kind of like a library... you flip through things and revisit a lot of the past, and also laugh a bunch. This shop is more of a tourist attraction for my friends. They rarely buy anything either, but it's always a solid hour of them looking around at all of the unique offerings. This is a "must-go" for anyone visiting Portland: sort of a tourist attraction that I will continue to bring visitors to.

Yelp
definitely a cool place to check out, everything ranges from $10-$200 in my opinion and a lot are between responsible price but you can find some really cool stuff for a really good price. although i do think they can be slightly more lenient with prices since i saw a SHEIN item for $21 bucks when brand new it's $4 ( it's a fast fashion site). otherwise a 10/10 store

Yelp
Did someone wish for BIG prices from the Zoltar machine up front?! Expansive vintage store (bigger than it looks from the outside) with absolutely massive selection but with, unfortunately, absolutely massive prices! Quality varies wildly from fresh to frazzled, while the selection ranges from the peculiar to plebian. The definition of vintage is loosely applied in some cases; weathered and unwanted are frequently more applicable adjectives. Great for browsing or window shopping, if you can make sense of their sibylline sorting method, but when vintage costs more than retail, then maybe it's best to just let the past die gracefully. It doesn't take a programmable prognosticator to predict our return isn't foretold in the stars. You're far better off visiting the chic and far more affordable Village Merchants on Division.

Yelp
This place really disappointed me. Firstly-- do not come here if you wear above a medium. I'm a size XL in both tops and bottoms, and could not find anything. They do not organize their clothing by size (and often purposely rip off size tags) so I would have to search through racks of 50+ items to find one or two things in my size, and never anything I wanted. Some of the hangers list sizes; these are not the sizes of the clothes. They are completely random. Secondly-- the store overcharges. Typical, as it is a gentrified "vintage" store in Portland, but the amount of SHEIN and Target clothes I saw being sold for twice their market price was... disappointing, to say the least. Thirdly, lastly, and probably the only reason I bothered warning anyone about never going here-- the employees are really, really unfriendly. They have a policy where your bag needs to be locked away (which may be normal, but I've never encountered this before.) Fine enough, I guess. Or, it would be fine, but there's no one watching the lockers 99% of the time. Meaning, if you bring your bag in further than a step through the door, you get bombarded by passive aggressive employees telling you to lock up your stuff. Heading out, my partner had the key to return to the staff, and walked ahead of me. Two male employees decided to yell at me that I needed to lock up my bag-- but immediately changed to apologetic and kind when my partner turned around at my distress. It felt like a weird case of sexism. Why not treat me as politely as you treated my partner? Overall, I will literally never come here again. If you're skinny, and don't carry bags, go for it I guess. If you're 95% of the population who does happen to fall into the "not skinny" or "has a bag" category: find somewhere else. This. Place. Sucks.

Yelp
BEST THRIFTING in Portland. Worth the 40 min max + 25 min bike in 104 heat wave. I spent hours here and would go back. Ultimate thrifting experience!
google avatar

Yelp
Extremely over prized! They cut shirts and flannels into "crop tops" and sell them for $40-$50 a pop! Are you kidding me? I've been in there a handful of times and all of the workers there are either uninterested or just flat out rude. If you're visiting Portland and have "House of Vintage" on your list, pass on it and check out real vintage/thrift shops.

Yelp
I've come here a few times. Prices are high but that's average for Portland vintage shops. I had a few minutes to spare before a dinner reservation and was excited to see if the coat I saw last time may still be there. I walked in and after a minute was tracked down by someone saying I need to check my purse and get a key for my purse in the locker. I actually saw the sign last time I was in the store with the exact same purse and asked - they said my purse was fine to walk with. I couldn't give my purse to the nearest cashier. I was directed to the other side of the store to get a key and lock up my purse. Signs said $20 for lost keys. This is a terrible system. No wonder there are so many bad reviews. The prices combined with this leave me with no intention to return. I completely understand that theft is real and sucks. Businesses need to protect themselves. Totally. But this prevented a large sale and has lost at least one repeat customer. There are better methods that don't require me to jump through hoops to shop.

Yelp
Honestly, this place has gone to hell! It used to be a healthy mix of antiques and clothes. Now it's all clothes--absurdly overpriced at that. I'm going to include a picture of a price tag I saw today on a flannel I couldn't sell for less than $15 on Facebook Marketplace. $88? Do you *want* to stay in business!?

Lizzie D.

Yelp
ugly and overpriced. selection was massive but 60% was ugly and 30+ dollars for brands like forever 21. if you have any self respect go literally anywhere else. prating on its downfall
google avatar

Cory M.

Yelp
Looking at the reviews and saw someone post about a similar experience. Yesterday I was walking by the house of vintage, didn't even go inside nor stop to look at their clothes outside. Next thing I know an employee came outside and yelled at security to check my backpack. I REFUSED! The audacity to accuse someone walking by the establishment of stealing is mind boggling. I've shopped there in the past, like the place, but will NEVER set foot inside this store again.
google avatar

Destiney C.

Yelp
Was out looking at different boutiques and shops and ran across this shop! It is located right off of Hawthorne in Portland and has an outside and inside selection. The inside is absolutely huge and has a lot of great finds and cute stuff! I did grab a few things while there including some cute tops and used Birks! But there was a lot of overpriced items, coming from brands like SHEIN which is suuuuper cheap and they were charging more which kind of sucks! But if you really keep looking not everything is badly priced and that is the usual it seems for Vintage in the Portland area. Ps, no a/c in the summer time, be prepared to sweat, but have fun searching!

Yelp
Went to House of Vintage for the first time over Christmas Break. Found so many things that my boyfriend had to come into the dressing room with me to help. If you've ever shopped vintage before, you know there can be a lot of sticky zippers or hidden buttons requiring help and they were perfectly happy to have him do this. They even asked us if we needed anything multiple times, were very friendly, and I left with two things. Yesterday's experience? Not the same. Boyfriend and I came in, found a few things to try on, and got a dressing room together. The dressing room attendant that took us back hardly looked at us but it was clear that we went into the same dressing room and shut the curtain. 5 minutes pass. I've tried on my items and am in my bra and underwear about to put my dress back on. Suddenly, the dressing room attendant who got us the room is at the door and says loudly through the curtain "there can't be two of you in there." We are startled because we have been here before and were not only allowed to be in the dressing room together but encouraged to be. I said "okay. Let me put my dress on first." Attendant again said "you can't be in there together," and as I'm reaching for my dress places their hand on the top of the curtain as if they are going to pull it open with me nearly naked inside. Thankfully, my boyfriend slid out, almost knocking into the sales person as he did (that's how close they were to the curtain) and went to another part of the store. The sales person was standing so close that my boyfriend couldn't close the curtain behind him or he would have been nose to nose with them. He assumed they would close it because they still had their hand on top of the curtain. They didn't. The sales person LEFT THE CURTAIN A FOOT OPEN AND WENT BACK TO GET MORE PEOPLE TO BRING TO THE DRESSING ROOM. The sales person and everyone standing in line for the dressing room could see directly into my changing room. I was in such a hurry to get out of there that I didn't notice until I had my dress on and went to leave. Everyone in the line was looking at me as I left like I had been having sex with my boyfriend in the changing room when the sales person knew that wasn't happening. It was humiliating. I got my boyfriend and left. I cried half the way home. I struggled with leaving this review because I have had such a nice time here before. I understand why there would be a policy against couples in the dressing room and have no issue with it. I have an issue with the way the employee's mistake was handled. Instead of apologizing, informing us of the policy change, and letting me recloth myself before opening the curtain, they made it pretty clear that they were going to open the curtain in front of the whole store and blamed their mistake on us when they knew there was nothing untoward going on. As good as the selection is, I will not be back as I'd rather have a say over who gets to see my half-naked body.

Yelp
Absurdly overpriced thrift store. Many price tags say things like $38 as is. As is? Pilling, tears, stains but you still price it as if it's new? Most of the thrift, oh sorry "vintage" shops in Portland are crazy with prices but House of Vintage is the worst. Portland must be filled with suckers. Hint: head to Ventura, Palm Springs, Humboldt County for thrift. These prices are messed up.
google avatar

Ali G.

Yelp
Customer service here is horrible, gone multiple times and everyone is so rude. The only reason I continue to stop by is because they do have really good items- you're definitely sure to find something.
google avatar

Jessica H.

Yelp
I'm from out of town and I bought cute stuff, but the customer experience was awful. Jesus, the staff here is so depressing and rude. It made me want to run tf out of there after I made my purchase, but I didn't want to be accused of thievery so I just got my shit out of my locker and left.
google avatar

Bruce S.

Yelp
We were shopping for a Halloween costume for Corina and we had been here before. This must be the largest vintage store in Portland as they have everything. Everything including sky high prices. The person that marks the prices here needs to put the bong away. We walked out and didn't buy anything.

Jose Luis G.

Yelp
House of Vintage not only sells racist items, but they defend their sale and use racist and misogynistic language to disregard those who bring these items up. I would encourage anyone considering shopping here to take their business elsewhere. The manager claimed that the Indigenous women who took issue with these items "attacked, jumped, and yelled" at their employees, repeatedly calling them "girls" and talking down to them about their "activism." The manager defended cultural appropriation ("they're from the 80s") and a racial slur ("it's just a mascot"). I later called the manager and they dismissed their own racist actions because they studied racism in college. I tried to be kind and patient in my conversation with the manager because I hoped that doing so would convince them to take appropriate actions; but after seeing how they treated these Indigenous women, I am not sure if instituting a new policy or writing a newsletter item is enough.

Yelp
Rooms and rooms of vintage clothes! This place is like a maze. It's a fun shopping experience but slightly more expensive for a thrift shop. I am guessing prices are higher because this place gets a lot of tourists ( like me lol ). I bought a pair of shades, a bracelet and a skirt and the bill was $65. I was happy with my purchase because I found unique items that weren't from chain stores. ( Also sustainable! )

Ella K.

Yelp
I made the mistake of ignoring the negative reviews on here and went ahead and purchased items from this thrift store. Literally TEN MINUTES after I left I noticed a huge hole in the sweatshirt from them ripping the tag off. I'm not sure why they even do that, but I did have a picture of the sweatshirt with the location of the tag beforehand as proof. I assumed they would let me return or at least exchange, as it was ten minutes ago and I paid in cash. They refused to (not even politely, with a rude attitude). Now I'm stuck with an overpriced sweatshirt with a massive hole. Thanks house of vintage! What a scam Besides all of that, these guys are absurdly over priced for shitty clothing. I noticed a forever 21 skirt with the logo cut out of the tag running for over twice the price of the skirt brand new. Very misleading, and taking advantage of their customers. They do have a big store, but it's all stuff like the pictures I posted. Not worth it, please don't go there!
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
When vintage or thrift shopping in Portland, this is the place to be. House vendors have everything that you never knew you needed. Clothes, jewelry, shoes, luggage, household junk, etc. You never know what you're going to find here. If you're a serious shopper, plan on spending a few hours here. One cannot easily and quickly make way through the millions of items available. I found a great wood naked lady nutcracker for $15. I couldn't believe it! I had been in search of a cool nutcracker for some time. I'm not surprised to have found such a random item here.
google avatar

Bobby A.

Yelp
Vintage and thrift shops can be hit or miss. There are some really great ones out there and I've been blessed to score some fantastic finds in the past but because "vintage" and 'thrift" are suddenly cool and hip, unfortunately that means there are a lot of outfits out there now who are collecting anything and selling anything in the hopes of cashing in this trend. This place is huge and you can easily spend a few hours rummaging through here but I'm really not on the market for a polyester 1970s jumpsuit in orange. If I were, I'm sure you'd find it here.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
This is a glorified thrift shop, not really what I would consider vintage. Badly disorganized, and the prices are out of control. Lots of $38 mom jeans . There ARE some fun items, but not worth the price in a neighborhood with better options . Also, personal items have to be checked. I understand security issues , but it's inconvenient.

Brandy P.

Yelp
I'm a huge thrifter, I've been to tons of thrift stores and this place had a huge selection but the prices were absurd. Lemme start off with a "bootleg" ticketed Supreme hoodie. Y'all could not get me to pay $20 for that let alone $50 they were charging for it. Be fr. You can find good pieces though, just thought better prices could be found elsewhere.
google avatar

Bailey B.

Yelp
Beyond massive store. It was fun to walk around, but if you actually want to shop it would take hourssss to get through the disorganization. It is also beyond overpriced. I understand vintage can be costly, but a lot isn't vintage here. And the tees that aren't vintage are nearly $30. There's a lot of thrift stores on the street, I would give my dime to any of the other ones. my boyfriend beyond livid about a Daffy Duck shirt being nearly $90... why gives us the explanation. Explain the over pricing on most these items. please. make it make sense. ALSO they make you put your bags in the lockers. Hope they're sanitized.
google avatar

Jennifer J.

Yelp
You know you're getting old when all of the styles you wore as a kid are suddenly "vintage"! Well, my fellow children of the 70's and 80's, that is exactly what you'll find at House of Vintage: room after glorious room of Members Only jackets, OP shorts, rainbow t-shirts, stirrup pants, polyester, ladies pantsuits, and way more than I can even begin to list here. They also have what could probably be labeled as one of the largest collection of trucker hats on this side of the Mississippi. Throw in several nooks of kitschy cookware, books, vinyl records, toys, musical instruments, furniture, and even medical equipment and you have the makings for hours worth of glorious browsing. Hey, 1979 called and they want their stuff back! I thought the prices were a little high, though. Maybe because 10 years ago most of this stuff was sitting in the free box at my grandma's garage sale. Folks, start hoarding your 2000's stuff today. You'll thank me in 20 years!
google avatar

Samantha H.

Yelp
This thrift store is HUGE. I got lost trying to find my way back to the cashier. It's overwhelming to search through all the stuff. I really liked the men's selection here so I didn't spend as much time in the women's section. You have to check in your bags including your personal one (if it's a larger bag). Because I'm the way I am, I hate doing this by all means but it's okay. It was worth it in the end to see the largest thrift store on the west coast! The workers here a bit cranky. I tried to avoid them at all costs except for the super super tall worker! He was the only one that said hello and asked me how I was doing. Overall this place is definitely worth taking a look at even if you have to check in your purse.

John K.

Yelp
Everyone who works here is so incredibly unfriendly. There are some pretty good finds but the employees are some of the worst people i've ever met and I mean that genuinely. Maybe get them some air conditioning or something idk

Kathy C.

Yelp
If this place lowered their prices by like 20% then maybe it would be better but so many clothes have stains and rips. They put "vintage" on so many articles of clothing that literally are not vintage. The staff is not very friendly or helpful. The staff was rude. If you want cool vintage or thrift stores on Hawthorne there are so many other cool stores with nice stuff and sweet staff.
google avatar

Meliza M.

Yelp
Yes this place is HUGE! When you think you've reach the end of the store, there's just another opening to another section! I was here last weekend on a Sunday afternoon and there were a good amount of people. The place is SO big that you never run into anyone and most of the time you get our own section to browse through. The items they have there are accessories, furniture, and mostly clothes. Tons and tons of clothes! I found a couple of items that I liked, but some of the items had holes and were just too overpriced for me. There's definitely vintage clothing there dating back to the 50's, so yes the quality might not be so great, but pricing was also not great. When I'm thrifting I'm always looking for a deal and I just didn't find anything for me. But in the end, I had a great time browsing!
google avatar

Rebecca R.

Yelp
I don't know why I gave this place a second chance. Why are used (not vintage) shirts over 23$? I walked down to BE and found the SAME EXACT SHIRT IN WHITE - 10$. I am being charged more than double the price by house of vintage. I almost regretted buying what I got.. because after finding this at BE I felt completely jipped. But I'm just going to take this as a lesson learned, I just won't give this place a chance anymore lmao I wanted to like it but I am feeling burned.
google avatar

Sebastian K.

Yelp
This place has the organization and curation of a poorly run thrift store and prices that exceed Buffalo Exchange and every other vintage store. I've come here on occasion for the past several years and have perhaps purchased a handful of items, usually DVD's since they tend to not be severely overpriced. I have seen VHS tapes for sale for nearly ten bucks! And I'm not talking about uncommon, out of print rarities; these are common, forgettable films like the millionth copy of Jerry Maguire that I've seen. Cassettes for more than a couple of bucks, vinyl records that are priced like new, yet are common releases. T-shirts from the 80's and 90's that are insanely marked up. Man, if I only kept all my worthless T's from the day I'd be insanely rich now! And god forbid if you're a video game collector... My point being...there isn't anything significant here, it's far overpriced and there are better options in Portland for vintage shopping. It's worth a poke around, but you'll probably leave and view it as a bizarre museum of old worthless memorabilia.

Yelp
Definitely saw some cute pieces for somewhat of a decent price considering the label of "vintage". Buuuuuut I have never felt so judged and uncomfortable during a shopping experience. The two workers at the front looked my partner & I up & down with so much distaste that it made me not even want to purchase anything. Plus some of the items were a stretch to be called "vintage". Saw a cropped gildan red t shirt with a pocket on the left side priced at $16!!!! Ended up leaving empty handed.

Yelp
The entire store is a cluster**** of junk and mom jeans. Nothing is labeled, nothing is organized. They do have a ton of stuff so I can understand that it's impossible to categorize everything in a way that makes sense but...can you at least put all the jeans in the same spot? Why did you take in so many pairs of mom jeans? I was fascinated by the sporadic bits of nostalgia - VHS tapes of 90s cartoons, comic books (single issues of random series). Ultimately I thought it was neat to stop in but I can't see myself ever spending the energy to actually find something. If you love vintage stuff stop in, but otherwise it's not worth it.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere and variety of clothing; this place is huge! Loved shopping around and looking at everything. Picked a few items and went to checkout. This was probably the most bizarre and awkward sale I've ever encountered. I approach the counter and the salesperson is finishing a conversation with another employee (which is fine). She enters the cost of my items and does not say a word. I place my card to be processed and she hands me the receipt (still not saying a word). She moves on to my friend and is still giving the silent treatment. My friend says thank you and thinking she did not hear her (and without knowing she was dead silent to me) she repeats her thanks louder. Not even a head nod in acknowledgment. They weren't even busy. Very odd. I get working in customer right now is especially frustrating, but I also work front-end customer service and even an acknowledging hello is not that hard. Awkward.

Yelp
Stopped by to do some thrift shopping, and literally laughed out loud at the prices. WAY overpriced for used clothes that are not unique or cool. Most of things I sifted through weren't even vintage. What a joke of a store.

Yelp
Completely over charged until I mentioned the total didn't sound right and then just got home to realize we were still over charged! They take off all the tags and don't give you an itemized receipt. Sounds like that's a good way to over charge customers that are buying multiple items. Big disappointment.

Yelp
21 minutes ago We traveled to Portland, and were excited for shopping. The worst vintage shopping experienced ever. Over priced T shirts. The customer service was awful. The cashier looks like hates her job and treats customers like thieves. Avoid!!!!

Yelp
DAMN this place is giant! Something like 13,000 square feet of vintage store treasure-hunting. It's got quantity for days, and you're sure to find some treasures. That being said, it's not even close to my favorite vintage shopping experience. Why? Their method of organization. House of Vintage operates essentially like an antique mall, where individual vendors have subsections. That means there's no sections based on type of attire. If you're looking for (for example) men's tshirts, there's like 30 different places they exist, and none of them are actually labeled. Shopping at House of Vintage is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. The treasures are there, but I find the experience incredibly frustrating.

Yelp
Wouldn't let me browse without putting back in locker even though bag only had phone. Didn't want to leave phone in locker and have added contact of touching key and opening locker in Covid

Yelp
So many options wow. Definitely pretty pricey as far as thrift stores go but a lot of good finds. Make sure you have plenty of time to browse all of the rooms! Many large vintage jackets that I wish I would fit into!

Yelp
Very big and fun store to get lost in and find some good deals. You may gawk at some prices but gasp at others. Truly a treasure trove

Yelp
Ug, why is everything so unorganized in here? Rooms and rooms of old clothing. Not much in terms of actual vintage items, just loads and loads of hipster clothes. Nothing in terms of customer service. Someone made eye-contact with us when we walked in, but didn't offer a smile, let alone a greeting. This is the second time I've visited HoV and the second time I had less than a positive experience here. Also didn't find anything here either time. Can't see myself going back.

Yelp
This rating reflects quality and variety of goods, not customer service. First, before you go too far-this is a clothing specific shop, not all around vintage. Just so you know. That being said, when you walk into a place and you find someone wearing a Strawberry Shortcake original fleece pullover, you know you are in for a good time. House of vintage really distinguishes itself by having gads of space full of clothing from the 50's until today. And there is no limit on what you can find. Period 90's plaid pants? Yup. Alpaca knit sweater from the 70's , sure. Wool cycling cap from the 80's? No, you didn't stump me, they got that too. But it isn't just well worn garments, it is gently used items. Some that seem oddly timeless and all at, effectively, reasonable prices. Not Goodwill pricing, more like Target pricing. You are shopping here not to save a bunch, but maybe to decrease your carbon footprint and find a few great pieces you can't find elsewhere. Honestly, they had Club Disney jackets from the Britney era next to a jean jacket with a Minor Threat logo on the back. Honestly, it is kind of cool. What spoiled it for me was the few cashier's I dealt with who treated me like I was privileged to be there. Like my business didn't matter because some other hip young person would take the Cinelli jersey if I didn't want it. I have no doubt that is true, but it would be nice to be made to feel like my business mattered. Ultimately, I spent a fair amount of money there because of the quality of product, not for any other reason. Because, from my experience, that is all they had going for them.
