"Houseman has special sound-absorbing panels on the ceiling, and it’s on a block of Soho that not a lot of people wander down, so it doesn’t get annoyingly busy. For dinner, there are some reasonably priced small plates that wouldn’t seem out of place on a tasting menu, and they serve a pretty great burger as well. Come here for relative peace and quiet in a restaurant that would be five times busier if it were in Nolita." - molly fitzpatrick, bryan kim, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah
"Houseman is in the neighborhood between the West Village and Tribeca that’s home to the entrance to the Holland Tunnel, a bunch of rich 45-year-olds, and trendy ad agencies. It’s low-key and a little out of the way, and that’s probably why this place stays quiet enough for a normal conversation (that, and the acoustic ceiling panels). So if you don’t want to make a huge deal out of your graduation dinner, but you still want some exceptional food, come here." - bryan kim, katherine lewin, matt tervooren
"Houseman is in Soho, but not that part of Soho. It’s far west, not far from the river, in a part of Soho that’s very neighborhood-y. When you try Houseman, you’ll immediately wish this place was in your neighborhood (in the event it already is, congratulations, you are probably very successful). The burger is one of the city’s best, and the seasonal menu is always excellent. The staff here is incredibly nice as well." - katherine lewin, hillary reinsberg
"We’re not going to say that preparing Thanksgiving dinner for one would be depressing - we’ll simply say that it’d be logistically challenging. Fortunately, Houseman makes it easy by offering individually-portioned Thanksgiving meals for pickup on Wednesday, November 24th. The $70 kit comes with eight different dishes, including stuffing and turkey two ways." - team infatuation
