"There are good things and not-so-great things about Howl At The Moon. On the plus side, it’s a dueling pianos bar, so the music is pretty much all sing-alongs, and they serve very affordable drinks. However, the space is small and it gets so crowded on the weekends that there’s usually a line halfway down the block once it hits capacity. So you should show up early, but if you come with a bunch of low-maintenance people who just want to drink a few beers and join in with the entire bar in at least one rendition of “Piano Man,” Howl At The Moon is here for you." - Sydney McElwee

My friends and I love this place! Drinks are always good with an even better price point. The bartenders have been friendly and attentive every time we’ve been in. The music is diverse and fun and the musicians are so talented my only complaint is they have great voices I wish they would turn their mics up a little more! It’s impossible not to have a good time here.

I booked a table for my best friend's Bachelorette Party & from the time we entered the door until we left it was an amazing experience! We were a group of 5 & we sang, danced, smiled and laughed all night. When we arrived we were immediately greeted with a swag bag for our Bride to be & Dave came up to us shortly after to get any music requests she had. The entertainment was fantastic & the vibe all night was phenomenal! This was all of us, except one, first experience here and we are already talking about making this a yearly get together. Thank you Howl at the Moon for a night we will never forget!!!

Omgosh... we were looking for a great night out and we were NOT disappointed! If you're undecided... decide! This place had such a great vibe: entertainment, staff, music, people! All of it! So much fun!

I celebrated my 30th birthday at Howl at the Moon with a group of 11 and booked a table. The communication with the event manager was great she answered all of my questions very quickly. They accommodated my husband who is in a wheelchair by giving us a low table to sit (typically use cocktail style tables). They gave me a gift bag with goodies inside. The staff were SO nice and treated me and my whole group like VIP. Asking us what songs we wanted to hear and making sure we got drinks quickly. The whole group had a blast! Highly recommend!

My company rented out the place for the evening. The bartenders and wait staff were absolutely phenomenal. And the food was surprisingly good. I'm not used to bars having high quality good tasting food and they surprised me. Definitely a place to go to when in downtown Ohio. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the theme of this place is piano bar which means they play music and perform for you. Really good performers really good singing the atmosphere and performances make this definitely a place to stop in and spend an evening.

This was a first time experience a friend asked me to go we are 60ish. and I invited my daughter who is 40ish. The manager, I think his name was Daniel , was so personable he came by our table to welcome us and see if we were enjoying the music and drinks. He engaged in casual conversation and told us about the band members having various college degrees and did this for fun side gig ! He had a great sense of humor too! The band played requests and a variety of music genres they were very talented musicians and singers. It was a fun experience. Good bartenders good drinks ! Fun night out ✌🏼

My wife and I rented the top level for our wedding reception. Our coordinator, Autumn, and bar staff were phenomenal. They were very accommodating and very welcoming. They checked in on us the entire night. The bartenders ensured everyone had water, was very friendly with everyone, and even offered to help us with clean up at the end of their night. Autumn was specifically phenomenal when it came to planning everything and making sure everything was to our liking. The reason for the low rating is because of their GM, Dean. One of my guest forgot their ID. Instead of rationally, and respectfully informing him that they would not be able to serve him because of their policies, he decided to go on a power trip and antagonize them. He refused to give out the pre-paid drink tickets, which were to be used for non alcoholic drinks as well. He stormed after my guest as they went up to the reception area and made a scene with the bartenders about not serving my guest or else they would lose their jobs. The fact that other guests overheard this was concerning as well. I understand that there are legal reasons for not being able to serve anyone without any identification. That’s completely reasonable. My issue is the approach. How are you going to be the manager, yet you take personal offense to confrontation and are unable to maintain your own composure? Please take a lesson from your own staff on how to handle stressful situations while still being respectful. Again, staff was amazing. Their poor excuse of a GM was not.

Love this place!!!! Every time my wife and I come here we feel like family!! The music and staff here is incredible to the point to where we feel like this is the best place to go for all events!!! A huge shout out to howl at the moon’s staff for always going above and beyond any other bar on the short north!!!!

Yelp
From the bouncer to the bartender, everyone here is very friendly which is a major green flag. There is plenty of seating inside and outside, along with corn hole outside. Their happy hour deals are pretty good (half off apps, some drinks less than $5), but the quality is about what you'd expect for that price. Nothing spectacular. My party ordered more appetizers than pictured, and they didn't make us feel sick per se, but we didn't feel good afterward. (We drank very little and didn't stuff ourselves, so I think it's the food itself.) Additionally, the performers are not great. I won't say the day I went because I would never want to insult individuals putting themselves out there like that, but the establishment doesn't seem selective on who they hire. I think they did a great job connecting with the crowd inside, but the singing itself is okay. It would have been a lot more enjoyable and probably about the same quality if karaoke were an option. Additionally, at least outside, the speakers are right beside the tables, so the music is LOUD. To the point my whole party had to yell the whole time to hear each other and my ears rang afterward.

Yelp
Extremely rude bar manager, wish I got his name so I could share it here. Do not waste your money on this establishment, there are several more worthwhile bars right on the same block.

Yelp
I attended two events here for a conference I was attending so this is a review of an event specifically. The drinks were free for attendees. That's important to note for reviews. This place is quite big with an upstairs. There's a live band, and I think it's a big karaoke hit on other nights. I certainly heard it from my hotel on the weekend! The bartenders are incredible. There were hundreds of us and they just ebbed and flowed all night to our needs. There was a food set up for both events and the food was pretty tasty. One night it was hummus and snacks, and the other was a taco bar. At one of the events I went to they had a photographer who told me he partners with them for many events. I'm going to find him on Yelp and review his fabulous service also. Overall, this is a good spot to have a happy hour event for conferences. No bells, no whistles, but a fun time and great service.

Yelp
Very disappointed, we travel all over for work and visit the piano bars in the towns that have them. The musicians are very talented, they just do not work the crowd well. There was no waitress staff, the table seating was ok but I am short and at any given time there was atleast 20people standing in front of me. It was temperature hot in there, the bathrooms were not tended to. What you get in return for the $$$ spent was not worth it. Musicians should visit other piano bars and get some ideas.

Yelp
Great live music, nice bartenders, clean space, great experience! Didn't try the food but it looked good lol

Yelp
Came here Saturday night to start out our girlfriends Bachelorette party extravaganza. From the bartenders, to the band, to the security staff- everyone was friendly and amazing. Drinks were great and the atmosphere was poppin. A special shout-out to one of the bouncers Callie for taking care of us and showing us the ropes the whole night. Also to the manager Dean who was super friendly and attentive. And also to Nina who was absolutely amazing!

Yelp
I recently had a regrettable experience with Howl at the Moon. After making a purchase, I discovered unauthorized extra charges on my credit card. Despite my attempts to resolve the issue by reaching out through phone calls and emails, the establishment has been unresponsive. This lack of communication is not only frustrating but also raises concerns about the integrity of their customer service. As a customer, I expect transparency and prompt resolution when faced with such issues, yet Howl at the Moon has failed to meet these basic expectations. l urge potential customers to exercise caution when dealing with this establishment, as my experience has left me dissatisfied and concerned about the way they handle customer concerns. It's essential for businesses to prioritize transparency and customer satisfaction, qualities that seem to be lacking in my unfortunate interaction.

Yelp
I'm unfortunately not very impressed with this bar. :-( I attended a friends happy hour party and while that made everything a great deal, once the live music started for the night we wanted to leave. The playlist of hits prior to the live music was great and it matched the mood well and the volume was loud but not so loud you couldn't hear people next to you. When the band started we were literally yelling to hear each other from across the bar. While I understand live music is louder, this wasn't a concert or a club and could have been toned down quite a bit. Additionally, the band also wasn't maybe the best ever, so that combined with it being incredibly loud was not good at all. The sex on the moon drink was good and again, with the happy hour things were an awesome price. The mozzarella sticks were not great either unfortunately. Overall, probably won't go back when there's a live band there at the very least.

Yelp
Great live music and good drinks. The bartenders were very nice. Only down side was the kitchen was closed

Yelp
PERFECT. Not homophobic (like brothers and gaswerks. Those bars are homophobic). Howl at the moon has good deals on drinks. I love them.

Yelp
Celebrated my birthday here and reserved the moon desk. The service was great, security team was welcoming and efficient upon entry, drinks were delicious but the actual entertainment was just ok. Half of the band was decent but one of the female singers was veeery shrill and just not enjoyable to listen to. So unfortunately about every 4th song i would go outside or use that as bathroom break time. I have been to other Howl at the Moon locations and this one lacked on crowd work as well. Being that I reserved the moon deck i was supposed to receive a song choice and shout out which did not happen. It was a fun night but not worth the $600 price tag to reserve.

Robert B.

Yelp
Requesting songs is severely frowned upon by the music manager at the Columbus branch. It literally got me kicked out tonight.

Yelp
I can't stress enough how I do NOT recommend this place. I have been twice now and both times were horrible. Once for my birthday in March, which we rented out the upper area. And this past Saturday for a friends birthday happy hour special. I'm sorry to say but the live music is horrible, they do not sound good at all. I thought it was karaoke at first and then I realized it was the same people taking turns. I feel bad saying it but they singers truly should not have been hired for that position. It was also so loud you could not even talk to the person standing next to you. I know you want it loud but it was just too much. All of the bartenders looked liked they hated their jobs and hated that we were there. Never smiles or tried talking to us at all only took our drink order. It was sad how unhappy they looked. They were rude and blatantly lied to me. I asked how much one of the small buckets were and she said $4 with that vip wristband. I ordered one for myself and two for friends! When I got the bill they were $20 each. When I asked the bartender about it she told me the deal "didn't apply to the one I ordered" I asked she she didn't tell me that in the first place and she walked away. Overall I will never go back here and I will make sure to tell everyone I know not to go here.

Yelp
None of the speciality cocktails were good. They were all too sweet and artificial tasting. And the music was this live band that was not good and played covers of popular songs all night that was way too loud. However, the atmosphere was nice. It was wide and open with a nice outside area. Still would not return. The music really killed the vibe for me.

Gary L.

Yelp
It's fun, but not like any dueling piano bar I've been to before. There is absolutely no "dueling". Lots of drums, electric guitar, and one piano player at a time. Again, it's fun, but don't think you're walking into Pat O'Brien's, and the traditional ragtime style.

James S.

Yelp
The new owner is a moron and doesn't know their price points. Extremely pricey. Expect to pay $10/drink. I hope the owner sees this post because they should know what their competitors prices are. Employees even know this place is a rip off. Get it together! Live music is good tho.

Daniel J.

Yelp
We paid a $5 dollar cover charge and waited a half an hour with no hope of getting service or even a drink. Worst place I have ever been to in Columbus. Avoid this place like the plague...
