I brought in the new year here and what a great place to be at. Everyone was enjoying themselves and they have a very excited crowd. They are pretty new so please come on and show some support. They did their thing playing the tunes and singing.

Great potential as I have been to two of their other locations. Drinks were great on opening night. However their performers were god awful. Once this changes it will be much better. Choose a great song and you'll have an amazing time.

It was fun until dealing with staff. We were told to chug the bucket even though when we had bought it, we were told we could take it with us. The music was alright but the crowd was not it. We did go on a Wednesday but still expected better treatment than what we received. Might try again but there are other bars in DC

Came here for a work holiday gathering and was initially very excited for the experience, but it was a bit of a mixed bag. First, the music was way too loud, especially for a social event. It was next to impossible to have a conversation. The musicians are fairly talented, at least the night we were there, and all play like all of the instruments. Maybe if you wanted to just come for some drinks and live music and not talk it'd be ok, but it's not a great social spot if you're trying to hang out and catch up with friends. The ambience and vibe were good. There's a good amount of seating and a variety of seating, from tables to bar seating. The service was mixed. Most were friendly and engaging and helpful. But others were indifferent to... irate. I heard a couple of security?/Servers?/Supervisors? screaming at each other about something (were they that upset or was it just that obnoxiously loud, who knows?) right in the middle of one of the areas. The food was ok and there was an ok beverage selection list. I don't know if that's just the party or in general, but neither were impressive. Moral of the story, make sure to bring ear plugs if you want to hear the next day. It's a unique venue, but not great for chatting with friends.

Went at 10 for dancing and drinks. The band was PHENOMENAL. they were so impressive all taking turns on different instruments and singing. It was 90s night and they did everything by request. They absolutely killed it! We had such a blast!!

I won a free Happy Hour party here just in time for my birthday. I decided to upgrade to a table reservation and Meg was so incredibly helpful with the process. She helped me find the best option for what I wanted for the best price, answered all my questions and kept in touch via email up until literally the day of. This place is just an awesome bar that's got a perfect mix of bar and club. It's got a dedicated dance floor but also a ton of seating and a huge bar in the back. Table reservations for parties aren't even that expensive and their drink specials are FANTASTIC for DC area. They had a live band that took requests and I was really impressed at their range. They played everything from Nikki Minaj to Taylor Swift to My Chemical Romance and more. There were like 4 other "parties" there at the time and it still didn't feel over crowded like clubs get. If you want good drinks at good prices and a safe inclusive place to dance and people watch, 10/10 recommend this place!

Leave your preconceived notions of what fun should look like at the door and give this place a chance. Howl at the Moon is not your typical bar. It's a get-to-know person beside you, Paino, and a sing-along extravaganza. Not all the musicians on the stage are superstar singers, but they make it up to you. Their ability to perform countless genres by memory on demand is impressive. Their instrumental talents allow you to rock out in classical oldies rock or get down to some reggaeton. With sticky floors and mood lighting, you’ll truly feel like you're at a concert venue. Drink prices were average, but despite the masses of drunk and demanding people, the service was remarkably efficient. I walked in pissed that my girlfriends picked this place and walked out a believer. Very rarely could you see all ages and cultures embracing the chaos and enjoying the moment.

It was a great first experience at the DC Howl @ the moon. However, I was a little disappointed that how at the moon stays open until 3am but they stop playing @ 1:30. I just wish I was aware of this but just happy there was no cover charge that I had to pay. It was fun! & will be back now that we know the music ends way before 3am.

I just don't know what the vibe is here. It's like a faux-club piano bar but also sing-a-long and somewhat karaoke with none of the contemporary artists tracks. Very very random in the assortment of songs being played but maybe that's because it's guest requests. You have to write your request on a little slip of paper and add a tip or your request won't be played. The night we went, they had a nacho bar. This was odd since it was open food laid out in a bar setting and if you didn't get it before everyone else, it was either cold or really picked over. Getting to the bar to get a drink with the two drink tokens they gave us was about a 20-25 minute wait. Maybe that's normal but we ended up ordering from the server that randomly moves around the floor. This place is not poppin' so I don't really understand why there was a line. It's not a club and they don't play any music that has any sort of fast tempo. They also don't really play the music you request without a high enough tip to the guest artist of the night. And just when you may be starting to feel the groove, they cut the song off and switch to a completely different genre. I'm like...can they only sing 30 seconds of it due to copyright reasons or what?

I used to work directly across the street from here and remember seeing the sign go up years ago. I had no idea what to expect based on the name but I won a free happy hour and decided to check it out for my birthday this year. I really enjoyed the entertainment. The pianists played popular songs and even songs I haven't heard in years. It wasn't too crowded when I was there but it was a good crowd. With the happy hour, we had a designated table close to the pianos and free entry. The happy hour did exactly what it was supposed to do. I had two of the buckets, a strawberry shortcake shooter that actually tasted just like a strawberry shortcake, a Jell-O shot, and another shot at the bar. I would go back for a night out. I just wish they served some kind of food because those drinks absolutely snuck up on me before the end of the night.

Came here early on a Saturday night because my friend "won" a happy hour. There's no doubt that the happy hour menu is a great deal -- the drinks were strong and only $4 each. Once our group hit 20 people they gave us an 86oz bucket drink which was fun, although it was super sweet (and probably didn't have much alcohol). I will say the vibe of this place is a little confusing. On one hand it's a piano bar, but it's also a little gimmicky with bucket drinks. I'd say this is definitely the type of place to come with a big group rather than just a few friends. I've also heard they offer free food at happy hour sometimes, but when we went there wasn't even food available to purchase. I do think this place probably gets more fun when it's busier later at night!

We had a great time for the NYE party. The band was awesome - each musician played multiple instruments and they were all on the stage for the majority of the night. They interacted with the crowd in a humorous and kind way. I'm sure they have their regular hits, but they also made the evening feel special and unique to their audience of the moment. It was clear that they are a cohesive group who enjoyed playing together and riffing off of each other, which only enhanced the audience experience. They had some pretty cool tools and tricks to achieve certain sounds and genres. They played a wide range of songs, but focused mainly on 90s and 2000s pop. The hubs would have liked a few more hip-hop numbers, since the few they did were great. The venue itself was what we expected. We didn't pay for a table, so arrived ready to dance/stand all night. If you were expecting a regular bar with seating for all, that could have been problematic. There were two bars and the lower one with only one bartender was our favorite. He was very happy to accommodate and, like the band, had a great sense of humor. The only negative was no coat rack or coat check. We ended up just piling our coats with others on the floor. Worked okay, though mine was a little wet (!?) when I grabbed it to go... hopefully it was just a little splash of vodka. As an aside, I was interested to see that we were some of the older people there. Most of the crowd was in their 20's. It was cute to see them singing along to songs that came out well before they were born.

We had an enjoyable time but here's my pro-tips based on this first visit: 1) don't bother sending a Venmo song request. They never played my song and I lost $5. I made the request right at the beginning of the show and they had plenty of time 2) happy hour cocktails are sickly gross sweet. Stick with rails or wine for happy hour. I also had a peanut butter old fashioned from the regular cocktail menu and it was great but $14 3) sign up online to try to win a free happy hour. We had one and we got $1 drink tickets (2 each) for rail drinks 4) arrive early if you want a table on the weekend 5) we went on a Friday before the show started and it was pretty chill at the beginning of the show at 7pm but got really boisterous and full by 10pm. We will try a week night next time since we like it more mellow 6) they dont have a food menu. We brought in take out from cava meze and Hilo poke. You can bring in any food you want. The musicians were really good for the most part and we had a good time. We'll be back in the future with another free happy hour we got.

Somehow, somewhere I won a Happy Hour party here. So after a few grand openings :) my HH party was this past Friday. Came @ 730p. This place is literally 1.5 blocks up from the 7th street exit from Chinatown Gallery. On Fridays they have an sort of buffet of appetizers. On this night, it was nachos and salsa and some hard tacquitos lol My guest and I sat in the bar table area, up top. There are Weekday happy hour prices and Happy Hour party prices (you get 2 tickets for $1 drinks for parties) Piano players/singers were good. Place started to fill up by 830. This would be a nice chill spot to go to, if you're looking to be social or around people and get a drink or two. Apparently they had a small food menu but I didn't check it

Made a reservation for a group on a Friday night and it was great! Reservation process was easy, I told them about my special occasion and they gifted my table a free bottle of champagne, and we were able to bring in our dinner from another spot. We set up our reservation for 7pm, which was a little early because the band was just starting to warm up. By 9 pm the place was crowded, the dance floor was packed, and everyone was dancing and singing. If you want a guaranteed table for your group, definitely recommend making a reservation. If you show up around 9:30/10, some of the reservations start clearing out and the tables free up. Drink menu doesn't have prices on it but the 32oz party drinks are about $24, and the 12 oz drinks are around $12. Overall a great time!

I'm utterly obsessed with this place! We accidentally stumbled upon it, said we'd spend a few minutes checking it out, and ended up staying for hours. They have live music with seriously quality musicians, a big dance floor area, and plenty of drinks to choose from. I recommended it to all my friends, and I'd come ever my weekend if I could. Best night in DC, for sure!

We went during their Halloween bar crawl and got there pretty early. Like, just as registration opened because we're old and like to beat crowds places (lol) The ambiance and decorations were cute and on theme with the season. There were supposed to be drink specials for the event, so when my fiance went up the bar to order, our drinks came out to $30+ for 2 drinks. it was only after we got our drinks did they put out the menus for the event drink specials. would have been nice if the bartender took a second to realize we're clearly here for the event and confirmed we were trying to order the discounted event drinks. The place slowly filled up over the course of the night but thankfully the space is rather large enough to accommodate everyone.

A BLAST! The performers here are absolutely top notch and make the evening so much fun. They offer free happy hours if you sign up, and I highly recommend it! The atmosphere is absolutely incredible. I had a blast with my friends and can't wait to do it again! Only strange thing is that they don't have many mixers, so for non drinkers like me, water is pretty much your only option.

3.5 stars. Came on a Friday night after winning a happy hour. Just sign up online to "win" and they'll email you. Happy hour includes 2 $1 drink tickets and specials until 10pm for $4-6 drinks for you and anyone you bring. If you bring 20 people you get an 86oz bucket and if you bring 50 people you get a gift card. Came a little after 7 and it was already pretty crowded. They have free food from 6-8pm but it's basically cheese, crackers, cookies, potatoe salad, and BBQ-- it made the whole back bar area smell terrible so I stayed away from it. The drinks are a great deal but super super weak. My vodka soda was definitely soda with a splash of vodka. Thankfully drinks are cheap but you'll end up drinking way more than normal. Buckets and shots are a little pricier and they don't list the prices on the menu but the mini buckets and shots are about $10 each. The pineapple upside down shots were delicious! All the bartenders move super fast and are nice. The music was super fun. The band was GREAT! Everyone who played was so talented and had a great voice. You can venmo them your song request but it's hit or miss if they play it. If you request at the beginning of the night you have a better chance. I brought 50 people to my happy hour and true to their word I did get a $50 gift card and 86oz bucket, but not without a fight. The closer I got to 50 people the more often the bouncer at the door couldnt find my happy hour. A few of my friends told me they said my name at the door multiple times and he said he couldn't find my happy hour or couldn't hear what they were saying. He wouldnt give a couple people wristbands and tickets for the drink specials so I had to advocate to get my friends included. I understand them not wanting you to arbitrarily add random people you meet there without a happy hour to your happy hour but I was just trying to add my friends and didn't understand the hostility. Definitely put a damper on things. Overall I had a really fun time. The music was great, the drinks were cheap, and I won $50! This is a chain so I wouldnt mind checking out this location or another one again.

This was an awesome place for my friends and I to celebrate our night. The band was amazing and super friendly. I would recommend this place to anyone even on a random Wednesday night

Very fun! Love that it's live music but actually good songs! Only thing i'd say is the music is a bit too loud. Guess that makes me sound old haha but music can be enjoyed while still being able to hear the person shouting in your ear

Good vibe--deceptive service. I was told a price for a mini bucket was one price and then they charged me 4X the asking price. Brought it to their attention and they did nothing. Not a classy move for an opening night.
