Howlin' Willys Hot Chicken - Review - Hapeville - Atlanta - The Infatuation
"Inside Willy’s Mexicana Grill in Hapeville, you’ll find Howlin’ Willy’s, an offshoot of the popular Atlanta-born chain that spotlights chicken tenders. It’s counter-service with shared seating, and the food is better than what you’d get at the average fast food chicken shop. The tenders here are good—crispy without being overly bready, well-seasoned, and thick enough that an eight-piece meal will satisfy when you’ve got mouths to feed. The chicken sandwich is another smart move: stacked with tangy coleslaw, pickles, and slightly sweet Comeback sauce. The sides pull their weight too—especially the vinegary coleslaw, which cuts through fried chicken the way it should. This place makes sense for lunch or dinner when you need something quick and filling that’s not going to have you scrolling through your banking app.
Food Rundown
Chicken Sandwich
You can choose the spice level on this, and it’ll be solid whatever you choose. The chicken tenders are crispy and seasoned beyond the thick breading, and it comes with tangy-sweet slaw, a pickle, and mayo-based Comeback sauce. It's a chicken sandwich that gets the job done.

Chicken Tenders
The breading here isn’t so thick you’re crunching on it for hours to get to the meat. It’s snappy and holds the garlicky-spicy seasoning well.
Baked Beans
Sweet and hearty—this is a worthy order and pairs well with your chicken.
Mac & Cheese
Maybe not soul food restaurant-level, but it’s cheesy, soft and a worthy order if you’re here.
Coleslaw
A standout side that’s creamy, tangy yet crunches where it counts." - Jacinta Howard
