"Hoy’s Wok is changing to a new location following a temporary closure, reports What Now LA. The longtime Hollywood Chinese restaurant, which opened in 1985, was originally located at 7105 West Sunset but has not announced a new space." - Matthew Kang

Tried the Juicy Mongolian beef here. It’s fantastic… your appetite just kept building after you start eating. Our server also gave my daughter free fill of strawberry lemonade. We have a pleasant time here! Highly recommended!

Was really surprised at how mediocre the food was! I stumbled on their website while trying to find Asian vegan options and thought the orange tofu looked good, but the restaurant's quality was completely different from what I expected. The tofu was pretty limp in comparison to how much larger and filling it looks online, and a dinner portion is nearly equivalent to the lunch portion. The only saving grace here was the vegetable roll and how kind the cashier was, but I most likely won't return. Hoped this would've been better.

Have you ever starving for a delicious Chinese meal that can be the one that you have been dreaming of, with a superior quality, flavor, reasonable price and excellent place with a kindly staff serving and a great atmosphere? Well.. that happened to me today, looking for the best place in town serving Orange Chicken and Chow Mein and I stopped here! (Update 1: Tried also de Honey Walnut Shrimp, DELICIOUS and really big Shrimps!) (Update 2: Tried the Shrimp Pepper 🫑!!!! EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE AND DELICIOUS!!! with a Thai Tea!) (Update 3: Tried the Mongolian beef with Chow Mein and Fried Rice, also the pan fried fried Gyozas 🥟) Let me tell you this: When I had that first bite… Ingot goosebumps, because the food was incredibly tasty, really hot, fresh and a huge amount, enough for a very hungry person or can be shared with 2, but definitely buying differently, so you can try the variety. PLEASE… if you’re buying the Orange Chicken… eat it inside of the restaurant, so you can eat it crispy with the Orange sauce tossed in. This is my best option in town for Chinese Food! Thanks to Kyle, who was registering my order and the other guy who was talking with me, that I didn’t asked for his name, but definitely will remember this post. (UPDATED: His name is SAM!) I’ll come back and I’ll recommend this place with no doubt that you will have one of the best gastronomic experience!

Google
We ordered kung pao and got two different versions. See the photo. They were both different. And, neither one of them good at all. Very low quality chinese food. Consistency was very slimy and no flavor whatsoever.

Google
Food was delicious. I didn't think there was a lot of food just looking at the containers they gave us but it turned out to be quite a bit of food! We even went home with leftovers. The servers were also super nice.

I saw this place showcases on KTLA Jessica Holmes Show. So we decided to take the drive and try them out. Thus is a family owned Chinese Infusion spot. Sam is the son and he meet us at the door. He was very welcoming, friendly and made me feel like he really appreciated my business. They were not too busy for a Saturday afternoon, but when we got ready to leave they had customer in line waiting outside to come in. The food was Amazing, Fresh and Very tasty. I give them a $50.00 tip, and I will be back. So will you.

Google
We go here for the Wonton soup which is very good but today I tried a salad and it look like they made it with the scrapping of leftover iceberg lettuce that no one wanted very disappointed I thought highly of the place before this The SALAD IS NOT WORTH IT!!

Google
Wow! I came here after reading all the positive reviews. It was super easy to find parking and very central. The actual restaurant is pretty small but I went at a time it wasn’t crowded and it was perfect. Our waiter was extremely friendly made great suggestions and even helped when it came to splitting a dish. I had the Thai tea which was tasty and the soup was not too salty. The orange chicken was so good!! I would definitely get this to go as well. Very fresh tasting. 10/10

Yelp
This place has amazing Asian food. They have great flavors and portions. The service was great, definitely check this place out!

Yelp
I had the random urge to eat Chinese food which doesn't happen often so trusty yelp gave me this nearby spot with good reviews. I gotta say people's sentiment are on point--trusty yelp. When I first walked in, I was a bit surprised it was kind of nice in there. Nothing fancy but I was expecting a somewhat grungy hole in the wall. I asked the lady what she recommended and I ended up getting the orange chicken meal which was cooked fresh which I appreciated. Chatted up the cashier person for a bit. They had another older location but moved after some time to this new one. It's a small family business that's been around for a while and now the son runs it. Business is decent with walk ins and catering

Yelp
Hoy's Wok moved from their quasi-full service old school Chinese restaurant on Sunset off La Brea in 2022 to this smaller but more modern location across from the Beverly Center. This is the first time that I've been to their new location. They have streamlined and modernized their menu with the more popular items and adopted a counter ordering process to mimick fast food service. However, all dishes are freshly made-to-order in the open kitchen. The restaurant has enjoyed publicity from the local news station to help put Hoy's Wok on the map. Their General Orange Chicken was voted the Best General Orange Chicken in L.A. in 2020 by the series Destination L.A. It is sorta of a fusion of General's Tso and Orange Chicken. It is very sweet and tangy. It was tasty, but I wouldn't say it was the best "Orange" chicken in L.A. It is probably, though, the best fusion, General Orange Chicken in L.A.!! Most of their business since the pandemic tends to be takeout. They do have limited but comfortable seating at this new location with a big screen TV. Parking is easy and free at its Plaza La Cienega strip mall location. The food was very fresh. The owners and service were very friendly and the place was super clean. I would definitely come back to try some of their other menu items when I am in the Beverly Grove area.

Yelp
Hoys Wok does Americanized-Chinese food. They been in business since 1985 and relocated to Beverly Hills area from their old location in Hollywood. This new location looks like a fast-food joint, but is far from it. Everything is made-to-order and good quality; no steam table here. Good casual spot good for takeout. I read in a news article that Hoys Wok has "The Best General Orange Chicken" in LA, so since I was in the area I wanted to try them out. I don't know if Hoys has the best orange chicken, but their food is good to include the orange chicken. Owners are very nice! Located in a strip-mall (Plaza La Cienega) across from the Beverly Center and Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Marlo M.

Yelp
Food is very good this is my 2nd. Visit to Hoy's I like the Mongolian beef today Im having The General and a Wonton soup its good.. Service was very nice the lady served us at the table super nice. The place its self is very small but nice it for a fast bit..

Madeleine B.

Yelp
Classic Chinese-American food. The menu is simple with the stuff you'd expect like orange chicken, kung pao chicken and Mongolian beef. I've only had the orange chicken but it totally slaps. Each entree comes in 2 sizes, meal or dinner. Meal is the smaller size, which is still enough for 2. Only reason I knocked off a star is that prices are kinda steep, although that's typical I guess for inflation.

Vincent C.

Yelp
Hoys Wok is one of the best Chinese eateries in Los Angeles each dish is prepared to order using the freshest high quality produce which yields a consistency tasty food. The great food is complemented by the friendly staff.

Ari R.

Yelp
This is really bad Chinese food. The "Kung Pao Chicken" was just extremely dry chicken in brown sauce. Zero flavor, not spicy and was coated in something like batter or cornstarch. All-time worst Kung Pao of my life. They don't really have vegetables on the menu, which is strange. Our Lo Mein was also really bland. The chicken again... dry, coated and almost seemed deep fried. I've had better Chinese scooped out of bins at a roadside place on the way to Vegas or in Central California. Avoid!

David G.

Yelp
Drive past this place all the time and hunger got the best of me this time, thankfully! This place is great, fresh clean and you can tell operate at high standards, I will be coming back and driving past less that's for sure, I got the wonton soup and spring rolls and it tallied up to about 25 bucks the food was fresh tasty and definitely was what I was looking for Advice I'd give them is then down the sound system and deliver the food to the table a little hotter other than that outstanding!

Rebeca U.

Yelp
This is one of the best Chinese food places I've been! The food is delicious and always tastes fresh. The people are great and Services is great. Highly recommend. This location has parking available as well if your wondering.

Sandra R.

Yelp
Highly recommend trying out this place if you're visiting LA! The staff are super helpful and friendly! The food is tasty and delicious!!!! As we were in LA for vacation from north cali, hubby and I came across this joint! We weren't sure how to order; wether it was by portion size or party size orders but they were so helpful! The cook even offered to make a dish out of chicken or pork when I asked if they had "mapo tofu". I appreciated the extra effort!!!! Although I did not take up on the offer (because I've never tried it with meat) since "mapo tofu" is mostly a vegetarian dish, I was happy they offered to change it up a bit. I will definitely be stopping by on my next vacation to LA! My favorite dish was the won tons in chili oil which I devoured! #GONINERS!!!!!!

Yelp
Hoys Wok Chinese Food is my all time favorite fast Chinese food experience. Casual, fast, convenient for a take out place, right off the Beverly Center. This place boasts the "#1 Orange Chicken" in LA. Workers were very friendly and helpful, and parking is easy as it's in a corner plaza. You could tell this is a very close-knit family here as the workers were friendly to one another, and one of them even brought out a baby! The orange chicken was not crunchy, but actually more crispy, which was a huge plus as generally orange chicken gets more soggy with the sauce. The sauce itself is slightly hot, but very sweet. Rice was standard, but there are options to upgrade it to a different side which I'll consider next time Going back inside my car, one of the workers who had to grab something from his car waved to me, which really solidified this spot as having great service. Overall, 9/10. Will get the orange chicken again with an upgraded side.

Hanh N.

Yelp
Amazing! Saw the great reviews and couldn't resist. Authentic, delicious, fast, friendly service, chill ambiance. Located across from Beverly Center. Kind of pricey for Chinese food but it's priced for the area ;). Had the walnut shrimp and it was amazing. Want to try the famous orange chicken next! Definitely will be back.

Nicole Y.

Yelp
Ordered for delivery yesterday afternoon. Was my first time trying. Not disappointed. Ordered an orange chicken dish with a side of white rice, and it was a generous portion. I was able to eat some for lunch and dinner last night, and finish the rest this afternoon. Prices are reasonable. I recommend Hoys Wok for delivery. Tasty too!

Katie V.

Yelp
Chinese food was not the same when Hoys was gone! So glad Hoys Wok is back and just as good if not better when on Sunset. Food is fresh, made with quality ingredients, and flavorful! Thank you Hoys for blessing us again with your food! Highly recommend guys! Go visit Hoys!!

Jeanna H.

Yelp
Growing up in the SGV I know good Chinese food and Hoys Wok is up there. My brother introduced me to this place since it was close to work for me and now it's become my go to for Chinese food. The portions are HUGE, one order is more than enough for two people. I've tried almost everything on their menu and you can't go wrong with anything you order, but if I must chose one it would be their pepper shrimp with a side of noodles. Very well seasoned and cooked to order. It looks like is family own and run. The service was amazing. Staff was very kind and attentive making sure I had all the sauces I need. Btw the chili oil, I put that on everything. Place is super clean, there is a parking lot (enter going east bound on 3rd street). I placed my order online directly on their website so pick up was quick and easy.

Kevin L.

Yelp
Ordered the Kung pao chicken. It was so salty and garlic flavored I couldn't eat it. I rarely give this low of a rating but food that is inedible should not be served.

Rumi M.

Yelp
A great Chinese food! Great quality and super tasty Chinese food at a fast food looking restaurant.

Minerva V.

Yelp
Order chow mein noodles, for 16 dollars I expect a little bit more flavor, the noodles were very salty and flavorless, would I try it again maybe not , would it be my 1st choice no , ghetto noddles have more flavor this this

Sydney M.

Yelp
Amazing orange chicken, we order from here often! Also have tried the lo mein and some of the beef dishes.

Too U.

Yelp
We always go here with my husband. They used to be in Hollywood now they are near my work. I love the quality of food and their promos. The service is superb. They freshly cook the food for you.

Sarah S.

Yelp
The food was fresh and tasty it didn't leave you feeling like it was too oily. It is quick and reasonably priced.

Adriana P.

Yelp
The cuisine is decent, but the cleanliness of the establishment leaves much to be desired. During my visit, the lack of patrons was apparent, and unfortunately, the restroom was also in a less-than-ideal condition.

Robert J.

Yelp
Want Chinese for lunch with no effort. Walk on in! Friendly clean and good food. Not someone to have a romantic meal but definately a great deal for lunch to get out of the office , hospital or just a chilled afternoon.

Gerry H.

Yelp
I lived in the SFV in the early 90's, worked in downtown LA, I found Hoy's Wok when a friend wanted chicken from the place next door and I didn't. A small storefront that doesn't stand out in any way, nothing special inside in the way of decor... Prices are inexpensive, especially the lunch menu, portions are great, and the taste??? EXCELLENT!!!!! Especially love their Veg Soup. I began to eat lunch at Hoy's Wok 3 times a week, and as I drove this long distance past innumerable restaurants and had a fluid schedule, I could eat anywhere I wanted, and I could spend 5 times as much for lunch if I wanted. I now live in Bakersfield and travel back to LA !!! my first stop is Hoy's Wok!!! I am adding this review because I was dieing for their food (and I travel around the US and the world, and eat in the best restaurants) There is just something about the taste of the food here that draws my family & I back...

Brittany K.

Yelp
Loved the food! We got general orange chicken and wontons. They were quick even on a busy day, the atmosphere is great and has lots of seating

Kay Y.

Yelp
Amazing staff! Came here cause my friend Geege recommend this spot and it's a passed down family owned spot! I wish they had more varieties but the fact that they have party platters is so helpful or those busy luncheons or if you are having people over and need something easy to bring to the gathering! Also the fact that they have a easy to use site with menu and prices listed is very convenient :)

hungry c.

Yelp
Right across from the Beverly Center in a crappy strip mall sits this gem. Food is super fresh with large portions and friendly staff. I ordered the mongolian beef and it came hot and delicious. The restaurant is probably best for take out due to lackluster location but has seating and is pleasant inside. Kitchen is gleaming clean and smells wonderful.

Linda Y.

Yelp
The pepper shrimp is a must try!! also ordered the green beans which was amazing. Prepare for a garlic breathe just FYI! If I could give this place a 5 extra starts I would because usually Chinese food makes me really bloated and sleep afterwards but Hoys Wok didn't l!!! A plus is the friendly staff!!

Emma O.

Yelp
That was really good . Shared this meal with my friend. It was soo much food I'm full and happy. It was spicy, the way I love. Shrimp was perfect.I got to taste actual taste it wasn't too much dreaded. Def will be in my fav places to go eat in thar area.

Tobias C.

Yelp
Why did it take me so long to write a quick review?! I've been picking up their tasty Laramie chicken for the last few months and it's so freaking good. The sauce has a perfect blend of sweetness and spiciness and the portion size it perfect. Also I met the owner the other day and I absolutely love him. He was super friendly and very thankful for my business. I can't wait to order again in a few days!

Greg K.

Yelp
Great Chinese food. The orange chicken is incredible. I'd recommend this place to anyone who likes quick Chinese takeout.

Raymond L.

Yelp
Every time I'm in the area, this is a spot I have to visit. Their food is really good and made fresh. Their staff is always welcoming and service is A+. My favorites are the crab Rangoon's, spicy dumpling and salt n pepper chicken wing.

R'Chelle M.

Yelp
As a East Coast transplant this is my favorite Chinese spot in LA. The food is always fresh, plentiful and delicious. Everything on the menu is good-you have to try the orange/general chicken at least once. They also offer white meat options which is a major plus.

Kenny H.

Yelp
Great Chinese food and quick dishes friendly staff i used to go often when they were located near my job. Have not been since they moved but should visit soon.. hmmm

Andy K.

Yelp
Worked in the Hollywood area for many years and it Hoy's Wok was my go to spot when they were on Sunset and still is at their new location! It's worth the extra drive! Food is awesome and the service is top notch. Hoy's Wok food has that authentic wok cooked flavor you would expect from most big Chinese food restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley. The walnut shrimp, peppered wings, peppered shrimp, Kung pao chicken, and orange chicken are my go to items. The orange chicken is lightly battered and has a nice little crunch, as does the batter on the walnut shrimp. I miss some of the items from the old restaurant but this definitely satisfies my cravings!

Angela V.

Yelp
So happy that Hoys is back & in such a great location this time this time. (By Cedars Sinai and the Beverly Center) It's a little further out from where we live now, but so worth the drive to us. You can tell the family puts so much love & pride in their business with all the new upgrades to the shop & all the flavors in the food :) The General Orange Chicken is definitely the star of the show. So crunchy on the outside with strong flavors. Never disappoints. Can't wait for our next visit to Hoys Wok! Huge congrats on the new shop. Everyone's so happy Hoys is back in the game!

Ang D.

Yelp
Fresh food, friendly service, great flavors- pepper chicken wings so tender juicy full of flavor, crunchy skin, they nailed it

Billy K.

Yelp
THE WORST Chinese food I've ever tasted in my 53 yrs being alive. I don't even know how you mess up Chinese food that badly. I hate writing bad reviews, but it would be a disservice to the community and Chinese food if I didn't warn people.

gloria h.

Yelp
The best, my favorite Chinese food in Hollywood The family take such good care of their customers

David M.

Yelp
Best in the area. Clean, good portions and friendly staff. Our go-to place. We will be back again and again.

Jasmine D.

Yelp
These good reviews need investigating..There is no way this place has almost 5 stars!! WORST CHINESE FOOD I'VE EVER HAD ! Panda Express is 5x better! I paid $50 for stringy/overcooked chicken, crab Rangoons with basically NO filling, and bland flavorless chow mein!! DONT LET THE GOOD LOOKING PICTURES FOOL YOU! Food looks great, but is literally sooooo bad omg! I want my money back! Sitting here hungry because food was inedible!

Ray L.

Yelp
It's definitely on the pricier side but this is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. The dining area is small but it doesn't seem to be too hard to get a seat at a table.

Roxanna M.

Yelp
Hey Angelenos, Hoy's Wok is back at a new location. The menu is smaller but the food is still amazing.

Lauren L.

Yelp
I was shopping at The Grove and Beverly Center with my family. We were hungry and wanted something Asian and to our surprise Beverly Center does not have a food court. We found Hoy's Wok on Yelp right outside of Beverly Center and decided to give it a try and boy were we so happy we did! Their Orange Chicken is def a must try bc it's not like any other Orange Chicken you've tried at Panda, (not to mention everything is made to order here and not just scooped into a Togo box). It's got a crispy, tender and smell that'll keep you craving for more. I love their meal portions, it looks small, but they actually give you a lot that can be saved for a little snack later. We also got the Walnut Shrimp to try and it was so tasty! I usually don't like shrimp, but the family wanted to try it, the walnuts give it a good crisp to the honey glazed shrimp taste. We also shared the Crab Rangoons, sooo good!!! Must try! Lastly, the service was unlike any restaurant I've been to, they're so welcoming and makes you feel like family even though you're new. Something about this place that makes you want to come back if it's not for the food, it's for the staff and their welcoming presence. Will be back soon to try more items on their menu!

JJ A.

Yelp
It's like a very pricey, made to order version of Panda Express. These reviews? Good god. I don't know what's going on, but no one should ever pay $40 for a meal and then have to eat it out of a plastic container with prepackaged utensils from Costco.

Alexx D.

Yelp
The VERY BEST Chinese food in the entire city!!! You can't get food this amazing anywhere else!!!! The atmosphere and family tradition is REAL!!

Luke C.

Yelp
This is a very good Chinese restaurant. Expect all the standard offerings you'd expect to find at a Panda Express except all the food they make here is much better quality. The price for a meal was $16 and felt a smidge high until the plate came out. The serving size for one meal is very generous and is more than enough to feed two people. The service was also surprisingly accommodating. The music is a tiny bit loud but the general vibe is good and full of energy. I particularly vouch for the Kung pao chicken. That's what we ordered and it came out really good. Crisp and refreshing. Still has the classic flavor but not drowned in sauce the way a lot of places do it. Highly recommend.

Kunnary E.

Yelp
Food is always fresh and made to order. Tastes and looks great every time. Always greeted with a smile and a hey from the kitchen every visit as well.

Wayne E.

Yelp
I've eaten at Hoys Wok for years while it was previously at their Sunset Blvd location. And now they're in a new location, and thank goodness. Nothing has changed, as far as the service and the quality of food. It's a family owned business and the previous owners children are running it now. I am glad, there were a lot of menu items that were removed during the pandemic rip taro smoothie :( , but to be honest the heavy hitters and popular dishes remained. The General Orange Chicken, Walnut Shrimp, Kung Pao chicken, and a variety of fried rice are my go-to items. The pot stickers are a nice snack to get things started and the wonton hoy's chili are FIRE! highly recommended. Really wish I had some pictures of the food to share with my review, but I just gobbled everything up so fast I don't think an empty container would look that appetizing haha. Definitely give it a try if you're in the area. I wish I was closer so I could eat there more often, but whenever I'm in town. It's the first place I'll go to.
