The Best Restaurants At Westfield Century City, Ranked

"No, this is not a VR activation or an escape room where you have to fight off sushi chefs before a bomb goes off. It's just a decent handroll bar outside the food court. We go for the $22 four-roll set, which comes with albacore, salmon, yellowtail, and their “signature” spicy tuna with yuzu kosho on top. You can also look forward to each one arriving in a long black wooden box, which we can’t help but assume are the unused doll coffins from the nearby American Girl store. " - brant cox, sylvio martins, nikko duren

I’ve been coming here since the original opening and I’ve seen the transition the restaurant has been through. It’s a good place to come for a quick meal. Service here isn’t the best so if you’re looking for fine dining with top notch service, this is not it! They typically run on minimal staff and they’re running around but the fish are good and fresh. Would totally recommend if you’re shopping at the mall!

Google
Actually some of the best sushi I have had. Their signature hand roll is delicious and the salmon tastes like butter…. I had to stop myself because I would have eaten their entire stock. Also my server, Aamani, was so fun and so sweet, thank you!! Must try!!

Google
I had a good experience at HRB! Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The baked lobster was absolutely next level—rich, buttery, and perfectly cooked. The unagi had that perfect melt-in-your-mouth texture with just the right balance of sweetness and smokiness. And the salmon? Incredibly fresh and tender, easily one of the best I’ve had. If you’re a sushi lover, HRB is a must-try. Great quality, creative dishes, and a satisfying experience all around. Highly recommend!

Google
Came into HRB after aimlessly wondering around the mall trying to figure out what I was going to eat , I lucked up coming to HRB . Aubrey was our waitress and she recommended amazing choices , her customer service will definitely have me coming back to this really yummy sushi spot . Definitely recommend 10/10 . Great vibes , great food and amazing atmosphere.

Google
Never spending $130 on mediocre sushi again. This is not your typical hand roll bar. All my hand rolls came out at the same time so the seaweed is not crisp. Do not get the salmon from here. Very poor quality.

Google
Went this Saturday and had the pleasure of having Dustin & Kristin be my servers. Extremely kind crew, and a great place to stop by for a bite. Handrolls were tasty and a great selection of wine. Thank you also to Aubrey who brought out my food and was so sweet even in the limited interaction we had.

Google
I came here one day while wanting to get a nice refreshing meal with my friend. This is really a hidden gem! It surprises me that this place isn’t very crowded despite being right in the open on the second level. Sushi quality is GREAT, like butter. My favorite is the salmon sashimi. One of the best dishes I have had, I strongly recommend this. Cucumber salad was good, I wish the skin was cut off and a bit more sauce but that’s just a preference and I still recommend it! All rolls are yummy and the edamame is delicious. Great atmosphere, not loud, and I love how open it is. Very chill and laid back (in the best way). I recommend coming on a sunny day, it might be a bit of a struggle to sit at the bar when it’s windy, but as a person who enjoys being outside it doesn’t bother me. Not crowded at all, and staff is super nice. Talkative and caring, but took a little longer then preferred to get our check. Prices are decent, makes sense for the taste and quality though! I don’t usually order a big portion so it was the perfect cost but maybe for someone with a bigger appetite it might be a little pricey. Best spot for nice dates, quick meals, and so on. I love how the soy sauce is put into a little dripping jar, so cute. Overall, great! I very much recommend. I will definitely be coming here a lot, will be amazing on a summer day. I don’t usually post reviews but i really had to share how delicious this place is.

Google
Hand Roll Bar that serves recommended sets with trendy comibinations. The Japanese fusion resto has a limited but satisfying menu. Service was relaxed but efficient. Most of the dining is at a semi-outdoor counter bar layout with limited seating on an elevated platform at the courtyard of the Century City mall complex. Even if the layout is stylish and clean, not sure if the open space is a good fit for eating raw food. Good weather is needed. Ideal for quick bites and dates and lone dining.

Yelp
This place is delicious! Located inside the Century City Mall, it is one of the better options imo. The setting is an outside patio-ish vibe that has space heaters when cold. The service could be a little better, but I understand since it is a small shop with 3 or so employees at a time. I took off one star because it is expensive for what it is -- compared to Kazu Nori for example, the individual hand rolls are around double the price here. Overall would recommend

Yelp
HRB is a decent hand roll place the rolls are pretty yummy. My favorite is the salmon hand roll, I also really like the spicy tuna crisp it was delicious. I have eaten there before but this time I got take out. I do also like the cute way they serve their takeout hand rolls. I will say that it is a bit pricy, esp for a kiosk type restaurant in the mall and in comparison to other hand roll bars that have similar quality fish. In addition the restaurant is located in the middle of a mall courtyard and does not have walls so it is pretty chilly.

Yelp
I am shocked for the experience we just received. The waitress was very rude , she misunderstood the order and tried to tell me that I lie about it . The roll was very small and cost 20$ It wasn't even delicious and tasted weird

Yelp
I waited at the host stand for about 10 minutes before even being acknowledged. They weren't busy at all. There were maybe 4 people max at the bar total, so and most were already situated. The staff was by their little kitchen, and even the staff members sitting at the lower ADA seats paid no attention to the people walking up. As soon as I was spotted, they told me to just seat myself. Which is a weird concept when there is a sign stating to wait to be seated. I was promptly handed a menu, he set me up then expected me to already be able to order. He was nice at first, and then he became distant and seemed quite bothered as if I was a nuisance being there. This isn't like a traditional handroll bar where there is a chef behind the bar preparing your handrolls fresh, instead they prepare them in a kitchen all at once. Handrolls come out in a handroll bento box, and then places in front of you. I had ordered a 4 handroll set, and added an additional bay scallop hand roll as it wasn't enough for a snack. Fish was not super fresh, maybe I had a bad batch. For mall food, this is fantastic. As a standalone restaurant? I probably would never go out of my way for this, as there are plenty of other hand roll bar options for far better value, and far better quality of ingredients. My 5 handrolls came out to about $42 and with tip $50. Although I was pretty reluctant to leave a tip at all.

Yelp
A very small outdoor sake bar that serves delicious hand rolls in the middle of the mall. It's a little pricy for what it is but it's a cool place for a quick pick me up. Service can be a little slow at times, but the servers are all very nice. I recommend getting a couple of hand rolls if you are hungry!
google avatar

Andrea O.

Yelp
Convenient location in the mall, but the sushi fell short. While the service was friendly (a little on the slower side, the quality of the fish was disappointing -- it didn't taste very fresh, and the texture was a bit off. The hand rolls were okay, but not something I'd rush back for. If you're in a pinch and need a quick sushi fix, it's an option, but it may not satisfy if you're looking for top-notch quality.

Yelp
Return here, and try to some of their rolls (Ki and another) and the salmon sashimi for the first time, which I loved. The fish was like melting your mouth and came fresh. The menu did get more expensive than I remember i.e. In my review for instance two years ago, the three-piece combo was $14, and now it is at least $20, but I guess what hasn't become more expensive right? The meal below came out to about $90 before tip. If you need to feel more full, there's always miso soup. it is fast service, if you need to go to a show or escape room, you can probably be in and out of here within 20 to 25 minutes.

Yelp
The ambiance was great and the service was wonderful. The food was very disappointing. I got three hand rolls: bay scallop, signature and baked crab. I didn't want to finish any of them. We arrived right at opening and assumed it'd all be fresh but it did not taste fresh at all. The signature and scallop were wayyyy too fishy. The texture was off from what you'd expect in fresh fish. The baked one was very greasy. My hand had a puddle of grease on it. The place was very busy so try at your own discretion. Like I said, the server was amazing and kind and wonderful. The vibe was great, just bad, super not fresh fish.

Yelp
Arrived at 1 pm on a busy shopping day and had to wait 5 minutes for a seat at the counter. Took a long time to order and I'm sitting at the counter! Service is very slow. Ordered the 5 piece hand roll for $26. It was good, not great, came in a bento box. Variety was salmon, blue crab, albacore tuna, Sea scallops and a signature roll and I don't know what it was. I asked for water twice, spicy mayo and the waiters said yes, and never brought the water or the spicy mayo. And since we are using our hands to roll the handroll, the restaurant should have provided wet wipes for our hands, which is standard for most Japanese restaurants! And when I received the bill, they automatically add 18% tip to the bill, and that's why the waiters don't care if they give you bad service. I wouldn't recommend this place. Nope.

Yelp
Every time I go to Century City mall I pass by this bar. Super trendy looking and seems like a cool place to have some hand rolls. Finally decided to give it a try, and as much as I wanted to love this place it's just ok. I ordered the omakase and my partner got the 5 hand roll. Omakase was $50, for what i got it definitely was not worth it. The sushi were cut so thinly you can barely enjoy them. Too much use of truffle oil in one of the fish. Hand rolls had the perfect rice ratio so that was a plus. Hand roll selections were good but compared to KazuNori, they really don't stand a chance. I will say though that they have the crunchiest Nori I've ever tasted. It's ok but not running to go back anytime soon.

Yelp
My second time here, and I'm really impressed! This isn't mall sushi, this is on a much elevated level: really high quality ingredients and a varied menu. Seating is outdoors next to the movie theater, but great people watching and nice vibes. They have happy hour from 5-6, which includes a really wide variety of food and drink options at a more reasonable price. Blue crab roll was excellent, as was the spicy mango sake cocktail. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
The atmosphere here on a Friday afternoon is pretty amazing! It wasn't busy at all around 1pm on a Friday and the weather and sun were just perfect. That added onto my experience at HRB which made it stand out from Kazunori. The handrolls came out all at once, which inevitably meant the rice was colder and you felt a little bit more rushed to eat and finish all of it. The fish itself was abundant and fresh, with unique flavors and textures. Service was friendly and standard. This place is pretty solid, but I think I do prefer the fish/handrolls and the experience at Kazunori a bit better. Would def give this place a try though! It has a much bigger menu than just the handrolls!
google avatar

Yelp
I really did not like the place. I waited so long and the price for tuna rolls was very expensive and lowe quality
google avatar

Carolina O.

Yelp
The food at HRB is always very yummy. I tried the 4 hand roll combo for $22 and everything was so tasty and yummy and cute presentation. It is limited seating as it's maybe 20 seats but it's nice where it is located. Service is always great too. We also had the unfiltered sake which was good too :)

Yelp
The service is terrible. I stood in line for 10 minutes at the hostess booth where no one was there. The waiter saw us but kept tending to the tables, this is understandable as they seemed understaffed. However, when two white people walked up to the line she told them you two can sit right here and we were simply ignored. After waiting 5 more minutes, she finally told us to sit anywhere where available. We sat down and had to wait 5 more minutes for her to finally give us the menu. Once we ordered we received our food and it was unrolled which I guess is their niche. I kind of think it took a while for the food to come out when all it is -- is fish and seaweed, since they don't wrap it. Also it's good to note that their soy sauce is very light and comes in a dropper so you feel like a scientist eating your sushi. It's not really my cup of tea. My main problem was the waiter appeared favoring some guests more than others. I understand not being able to get along with every single guest but she seemed very inattentive to those that weren't white. It took so long for us to order, and get the check whereas those that were white got immediate service. I don't normally blame race on people's behavior but it seemed really blatant as other people that weren't white also had trouble getting a hold of the waiter. The seating is outdoor and the vibe is busy as people are walking by shopping. To be honest I wouldn't recommend this place, you're better off going to Kazu Nori down the street as they have better service and better food in my honest opinion.

Yelp
KIA roll is sooo good if you like lemon and yellowtail. Also really enjoyed my yellowtail handroll and if I came back I would be satisfied just eating handrolls. I would definitely skip the crispy tuna next time. Overall this is a really solid place to get a quick sushi fix.
google avatar

Mailani S.

Yelp
The baked blue crab hand roll was by far the best thing we had there. The albacore hand roll was great too. Not a fan of the scallop though. Extremely spicy and odd texture, given that I usually eat baked scallop and not raw. Overall good. Love the idea with the soy sauce droppers!
google avatar

Yelp
Went for lunch on a weekday and there isn't a wait. It is bar setting with limited seating. Ordered the 5 Handroll Set and Lisa Cocktail (Plum wine with cherry). Set a high expectation for this place since I walked past couple of times and it's always full seating with long line. Expected better but it was average, so don't expect anything fancy.
google avatar

Rina L.

Yelp
I wish I liked this place as it is in a very convenient location in the mall. It is an outdoor bar and on a nice day, it feels nice to sit outside for a meal. The seating was a bit cramped but not too bad where it would keep me from coming back. However, other than the staff, I cannot recommend this place. Started off well. The staff was SUPER friendly and accommodating. Downhill after that. After ordering, we waited almost 40 minutes for our food, which is ridiculous for handrolls. Then, the prices were not justified for the quality and quantity of food you get. I ordered the 3 roll combo (no substitutions allowed unless you are allergic) and an order of the salmon sashimi. I'm sorry but 3 pieces of salmon sashimi in truffle ponzu for $23? The prices of the hand rolls were not unheard of, but they all come out at once, making the seaweed soggy/chewy. Also, the portion sizes are small. My friend ordered the same 3 roll combo and a cut roll, which was unfortunately drenched in sauce that you could not even taste the fish. Total for our food came out to about $90 after tax/tip. For that price, I expect a lot more than what we got.
google avatar

Jocelyn T.

Yelp
The service was a 5/5- but the food was a 2/5. I didn't get that impression of high quality food and presentation that some people spoke about on here. Sorry to say but the food we got (a bunch of handrolls) looked like playdough. The quality was not worth the price. Not even one half of the price. The fish to rice ratio..you can look at other reviewers & see for yourself. If you don't care about the price & want somewhere to just drink & chill- then this would be the place.
google avatar

Rachel K.

Yelp
I decided to get the 6 roll combo here for my first experience and I really liked it! The staff was really nice, and considering that it was dinner time, there was no wait and I got sat right away. It was a cold night but there were heaters on the ceilings that reach almost every seat that kept me pretty warm. I was surprised to see that all the rolls came out at once, whereas at other hand roll places, chefs usually make you one roll at a time. However, I didn't mind that it came out all at once. I think visually, the sashimi pieces on top look a little funny because they look very unnaturally formed into shape, but the taste is great! The one thing I do have to point out is that the seaweed pieces are on the thicker side, not too crunchy, and a little tough.
google avatar

Meri T.

Yelp
Food and presentation was great! Not sure if it's fully worth the price though. Service was the big turn off here. The sign said to wait to be seated but multiple servers walked back and forth and didn't seat parties waiting. When giving a take out order the server was kind of rude, then forgot some of our order and shrugged it off before filling it.
google avatar

Helie L.

Yelp
Loved the outdoor sushi bar experience in the middle of Century City mall, but sadly the sushi lacked taste. A bit on the dry side too and that's not good when it comes to raw fish. Also bring a cushion to sit on if you're over 50. My tush was cold and sore after an hour of sitting on cement stools. Ciao mein till next bite.
google avatar

Amy G.

Yelp
While the salmon was delicious and the soy sauce came in a unique & convenient dropper, the service was less than ideal making our visit just okay. The spot is located smack dab in the middle of the food court at the century city mall making it convenient and a cute spot to meet for a bite. We were completely ignored and waited for a very long time despite it only being half full. Nothing could be altered or substituted due to an allergy which was a bummer. May give it another try in the future but also not exactly at the top of my list.
google avatar

Leigh L.

Yelp
Such a great spot! The food was delicious and service was great! There was a live band playing outside and it was overall a great time! Will definitely come back.
google avatar

Carmina C.

Yelp
Mixed feelings about HRB Experience, unfortunately. Location: It's pretty easy to find -- it's on the same floor as the AMC theater and the food court. It's outdoor seating (around an oblong-shaped bar), and can get pretty chilly despite the heaters. Service: Not sure if we just caught the server on a bad day, but he was giving off some major avoidant energy. It was Sunday in the early afternoon and there wasn't a wait, yet it took a while to be acknowledged and seated. Even after being seated, he proceeded to act as if he didn't see us. After 20 minutes of us watching the server avoid eye contact and stock his little fridge, we had to try to get his attention. When he finally came up to us, he greeted us with a "what's up?" It was my boyfriend's and my first time dining at HRB Experience, and we're hoping our lackluster experience was just a one-off thing...would definitely be interested in giving this place another shot. But it just doesn't feel right to be automatically charged 18% gratuity for such lackluster service.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
God awful worst service ever if you are here to eat in less than 2 hours Forget about it. Don't even come here because the service is so bad. The kitchen is so slow and the sushi is overpriced. It's on average at best.
google avatar

Tiffany T.

Yelp
Grabbed a quick dinner here while roaming around century city. Cute outdoor seating in the food court. Staff was friendly and checked in occassionally. Got the 5 hand rolll set, the ones that stood out was the crab and signature hand rolls. Surprisingly this set filled me up. Warning: the scallop hand roll has a kick to it!
google avatar

Jenny N.

Yelp
I decided to try this handroll bar and regretted the experience. There was no one outside so we walked towards the little building to the right of the bar and opened the door, then immediately one of the staff members said , "no thank you, no thank you." That first impression was very off-putting and rude. I apologized as we were confused and he led us to the outside bar. He handed us the menu and didn't really give any warm welcome greeting or a spiel. We decided to start off with the signature and spicy tuna. When we opened the box, the color of the spicy tuna was a reddish brown. It looked uniform like they squeezed it out of a pastry piping bag. The garnish was minimal and portions were probably about 1 ounce. Nothing stood out about the sushi rice or the seasoning except for the fact that there hardly was much rice. Also, no sauce of any kind were offered. Good thing we didn't order more. For $7 a handroll and 18% auto gratuity, the value is a joke. The staff couldn't care less and the product is distasteful. I highly recommend getting your sushi fix elsewhere.

Yelp
Food not bad. Service is MAD slow though. Don't think I've had slower hand rolls anywhere ever. 100% needs more employees. Like a lot more.

Yelp
My first time at Century City and HRB Experience. Century City does not feel like a mall at all, but more like a thoughtfully designed experience with so many thriving plant mini landscapes and nice stores, an experience. The hand rolls here were so fresh, beautiful, and tasty. I ordered the three option, my friend the four which added bay scallops. We needed a mid-afternoon bite as we had had an amazing brunch around 11 and were doing dinner at 8. This light snack was so perfect. Food very good. Service a little funky and not as smooth and polished as it should be on a Saturday. Not terrible but not polished. We liked that live music was playing, the sun streaming, and the pretty outside setting. Little details like soy sauce from medicinal dropper bottles and truly the best ginger make eating here very unique. We will go back! The signature spicy tuna roll is APlus.

Karishma S.

Yelp
Ambience is really pleasant. Service is decent. But the food was not good. The fish doesn't taste remotely close to fresh. My gf described the crab handroll looking and tasting like a "dirty sock." Definitely would skip this place and go to kazu nori instead.
google avatar

Jhovany S.

Yelp
First time trying HRB. Had heard from multiple people that it was one of the best hand roll places on the Westside. We were able to get seated promptly since we had made a reservation prior to arriving. The staff was all very friendly. We started off our lunch with the Crispy Spicy Tuna. It was quite good, especially with the crispy nori instead of crispy rice like at some other places. We also ended up ordering the 6 Rolls Combo. The fish was all very fresh and delicious. For the size of the rolls, it is on the pricier side but it was very fresh. Seating is a bit cramped and can be quite warm on these hot summer days, even if it is covered. A little tip for those of you who have handbags, there are little hooks on the underside so you can hang it and it's not in the way.
google avatar

Rebecca C.

Yelp
I was at the mall with a friend when we wanted to grab lunch, and we decided to try HRB mainly because it looked like there wasn't a huge line and I love hand rolls. When we were in the middle of eating though, it seemed like a lot more people were coming in, so I wouldn't depend on it being slow. I found the hand rolls great, perhaps a little less creamy than the ones at Kazu Nori and they do serve them 2-3 at a time (rather than individually), but overall a very solid and convenient option if you're into hand rolls. We came earlier this year when the chef was trying on a new item on the menu, and he came out to talk to us about it and explain that it was more common in Japan. It was a really lovely touch and delicious--unfortunately, I don't remember exactly what he called it, but I think it's the side of the fish? I hope they ended up adding it to the menu because I would definitely order it!
google avatar

Elana P.

Yelp
Concept was cool. Really liked the soy sauce in the dropper. But fish was unfortunately very fishy, especially for a Thursday afternoon, a day when fish markets are certainly open.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had a lovely dinner. The food was so delicious. Thank you to Max, for making our experience feel more enjoyable. And gave great recommendations. Because of Max warm and welcoming customers services we will be returning customers! Gotta try this place! Food is great! The vibe is on point! And the customer service is welcoming and very helpful. Cant wait for our next visit!

Yelp
This was my first time trying HRB and I was very impressed. I had fomo from not being able to try the lunch menu but the main menu was yummy. We tried and assortment of nigiri and by far was in love with the toro and eel. We also tried a roll and the cold sake! Definitely would go back!!
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
Tried to come here a couple of weeks ago around 7pm and they were closing early. Made a reservation for last night and got a call right when we pulled up that it was very windy so they may close early. I appreciated the heads up and they were very nice and accommodating to make sure we were comfortable and under a heat lamp when we sat down. I love the century city mall so the vibe here is great. It's all bar seating which I liked. The menu is very similar to Kazu nori. we ordered the crispy rice with tuna to start and were pretty disappointed. each piece is really small and not technically on rice? I got the #5 signature hand rolls and they were good but not great. They give you individual soy sauce in droppers which was a nice detail. Overall I probably would only come back for sake.
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
Best sushi in Centry City, located on the top floor of the centry city mall HRB has some amazing sushi and also provides outside seating which is a great change. The service is great and the quality of seafood is top notch. The crab and lobster rolls are fantastic and defiantly worth a try!
google avatar

Celine C.

Yelp
HRB Experience is conveniently located on the Dining Terrace @ Westfield Century City. It's patio bar seating with heat lamps in the ceiling. Dogs were allowed too! KazuNori is definitely the golden standard for hand rolls. HRB Experience is not KazuNori, but I didn't think it's as terrible as some Yelpers are making it out to be. 6 Combo (4/5): I docked off a star for not being able to substitute salmon as I don't like salmon. The presentation was neat and I enjoyed the soy sauce dropper. Unconventional, but kept mess at bay for only dripping soy sauce on top off the raw fish. No issues with the taste of fish and rice, and I was really full in the end. Lisa cocktail (5/5): Refreshing and delicious mixture of shochu, plum wine, and maraschino cherries. I didn't expect it to give me a buzz, but it did! Lastly, quick shout out to Amber who's the nicest and sweetest server. She's bubbly and provided great recs for cocktails.

Yelp
Service was good and it's at a convenient location. However, I would not come back for the handrolls as I thought the quality was lacking compared to other hand roll spots i have had.

Yelp
This spot is located in the century city mall by the food court. It's a small but cute place with bar seating. It's very similar to Kazunori as it specializes in sushi hand rolls. We ordered some miso soup, spicy tuna crispy rice, edamame, and each a #4 combo. The spicy tuna crispy rice was sooo small so we were a bit disappointed, however it was still tasty. The #4 combo comes with 4 hand rolls and you can also ask to substitute if you want. The boxes are really cute and it adds to the whole experience. The soy sauce is also packaged in cute glass dropper bottles which I loved. Overall, it was a good experience and I recommend trying it out if you're into hand rolls.

Yelp
Some may say HRB is comparable to Kazunori and I'll have to say it is definitely not. HRB is located in the Century City mall and is an outdoor restaurant that's bar style. Unfortunately, the handrolls are not made fresh in front of you. Another personal preference but I love handrolls that have everything chopped up inside but these ones were a whole slice of fish. It was a cold day so we asked for hot tea but the server didn't let us know that it'll be an additional charge. He was also kinda forgetful and mixed up our order. Luckily, it got fixed but I would just save your time and money for another spot!

Yelp
Outside open bar concept so be sure to bring a light jacket in the evening! $30 for 6 hand rolls, also got a shot of sake for $3. My favorite handroll was the salmon. I prefer the fresh flavor of the fish. While their flavor is good, they mix the fish with other sauces which masks the natural taste. I don't know if they take reservations but wait isn't bad (about 15-20 minutes).

Yelp
Never give places a 1 but this place really deserved it, first off the waitress came off very rude and rushy for no reason, the food all not only tasted bad but portions were ridiculous. I tried order a ikura hand roll, a very normal thing to order at a sushi place. They said they didn't have it on the menu but they have ikura so they could do it, we proceed to get a small Nigiri on a hand roll sized sheet of nori. Oh and they proceeded to charge 16 dollars a (hand roll) when they were tiny nigiri. I politely asked the waitress after ahe left for 25 mins and came back scrolling on her phone, for them to just charge for one and she proceded to get rude and get the Karen manager to come out all passive aggressive wide eyed Karen mode tell me that they can't do anything and it's my fault for ordering something off menu. It's just plain rip off. Any sushi place in existence is better than this poop hole of a place. Sushi tasted worryingly bad as well.

Yelp
Awful experience. We waited over an hour for three rolls to go. They began to close and when they saw us waiting at the bar, they pulled out a bag from underneath the counter and handed it to us without mentioning anything about the wait. Service was terrible; lucky for them that you have to tip at the beginning, because they didn't deserve a single cent.

Yelp
My works office is right across the street of Avenue of the Stars so we walk over to the mall once in a while to grab a quick bite. This is the second time coming to HRB for some sushi and we love it here! Always great service and they have a quick kitchen as we get our food fairly quick for something that is made on the spot. We normally get the 6 piece omakase set which is so good! The ambiance is nice as it's located in the second floor of the mall and right in the beginning of the food court! I highly recommend checking this place out if you're at the Westfield Mall in Century City'

Yelp
Been wanting to try this Kazu Nori knockoff for a while now, and I wish I didn't. There were only two servers working when I came on a Monday night and it seemed like they had too much on their plate. As a result, the service suffered significantly. They also spoke to each other quite a lot as they cleaned up the table, so it made me feel rude to cut in to place an order (even though I was waiting for 15 min). Food wise, it doesn't come close to Kazu Nori. Rice isn't as fragrant or properly flavored. Fish was not nearly as fresh, and the wasabi was weak. I also ordered their cucumber salad and it didn't taste like it was marinated at all (just plain sliced cucumbers). They try to be edgy by having their soy sauce in a drop bottle but this just made it hard to eat the roll. Also, I have to touch the bottle before I touch my hand roll...hope they sanitize them well. All in all, lacks flavor and not worth the price. Service isn't great. I can't find a reason to come back.

Yelp
I've passed by this place many times while shopping at the mall and finally decided to give it a shot since I am a huge fan of hand rolls. It was a pleasant, though hot, day and we found a lovely shaded spot at the bar. After receiving some recommendations from the server, we both settled on the Combo 4 which included four hand rolls (Signature, Albacore, Salmon, Bay Scallop). We also ordered seaweed salad, some shishito peppers and a cut roll. Our order arrived in these long, rectangular bento-style boxes. I was surprised that all four hand rolls came out at one time because the seaweed quickly gets soft & chewy if not consumed quickly. Opening the boxes revealed each hand roll in its own compartment, though they were not "rolled up" but rather "ready to roll up". Each compartment held a sheet of seaweed topped with a block of rice upon which a slice or block of protein was placed. Our server said that the seaweed will stay crispy until you fold the flaps over and start eating. That is partially true, though the bottom of the seaweed where the block of rice sits quickly became chewy like a rubber band. The fish seemed pre-cut and the blocks of protein (bay scallops & signature, which is their spicy tuna) were almost certainly pre-formed. Overall, they were tasty, but they were nothing like the handrails you get at places like Seaweed Hand Roll Bar. HRB provides soy sauce in tiny medicine bottles with eye droppers, which is a nice touch for hand rolls because you can strategically place a few drop of soy as needed without having to dunk it in a small dish. The seaweed salad was outstanding though I doubt it was made in-house. The shishito peppers were perfectly charred and tossed in a nice ponzu sauce. As with most shishito peppers, there is always one HOT one and yours truly managed to fry the inside of my mouth. LOL The cut roll was superior to the hand rolls, but at $24 for 8 small pieces, it was way overpriced. Overall, I give 3 stars to the quality of the fish, 4 stars to the seaweed salad and shishito peppers, and 5 stars for the excellent service we received from the staff at the bar.
