"Huaca Pucllana, a restored centuries-old adobe ceremonial temple, has remarkably and defiantly sat right in the heart of Miraflores since 400 C.E. The temple complex includes a Wari (or Huari ) cemetery, where four preserved mummies were discovered in 2010, and a small museum housing artifacts, pottery and other excavated relics. It's especially atmospheric when illuminated at night, best seen from the on-site restaurant, an upscale and highly recommended spot for a memorable dinner."

What an incredible site! Ancient stepped pyramid originally built by the Lima civilization (not the Inca!) in 200-700 AD. The huge pyramid, built by clay bricks, is just a small part of the original structure, meant for religious ceremonies and sacrifices. You cannot walk around the complex yourself, you need a guide, and there are both English and Spanish speaking tours which are included on your entry ticket. It's a one hour tour, our guide was quite knowledgeable, but we felt the tour in general was a bit rushed. Beside the pyramid itself there's a small "flora and fauna" section showcasing some of the crops and domestic animals (guinea pigs, llamas) of the time. There's also a small indoor museum with a few exhibits by the entrance to the site. We were lucky to arrive just in time for the last day time tour of the day at 16:40. 15 soles entry per person, but no reservation required. If you come in the evening (I'm sure evening time the pyramid is quite striking!) I believe you do need the reservation.

This is a fantastic and easily accessible archaeological site in Lima. You have to access the site via a tour, but the tour is worth the time. I found it very informative and a nice introduction to pre-Inca Peruvian culture. It's amazing that the city has basically been built on top of some of the site, and lucky that preservation started before too much was destroyed forever. 100% worth a visit when in Lima.

Went Sunday afternoon. A bit of a wait ' half an hour as I had not made a reservation. Entry was 15 soles. Than waited another 20 minutes for English guide and to get numbers for tour. (Recommend you make reservation and you can walk past line) Very interesting tour. The walk is easy around site. Love how this is right in Milaflores easy for most tourists to get too.

Well worth it! The site is amazing. The tour is informative and fun. Night tour might be worth it as the site is majestic at night. Skip the restaurant, while beautiful, not actually good.

This is such a fun treasure in the city! It's a quick 45-60 min tour talking about the Lima culture that predates the Inca civilization. It's not an intense hike, but closed toed shoes and pants are a good idea just because of the dust. We went on an overcast day and it was perfect, I can see it getting super hot on a sunny day, there is no shade.

We visited in the morning and it was the perfect time to go. It’s so cool to see this massive ancient site right in the middle of modern Lima and it was literally behind our hotel. They offer tours in both English and Spanish, and it’s included in the ticket price. Yours are required to visit. Our guide did a great job explaining the history and how the structure was used by the Lima culture over 1,500 years ago. The pyramid made of adobe bricks is super impressive up close!

Huaca Pucllana is a fascinating archaeological site right in the heart of Lima. The guided tour brings the history of this ancient adobe pyramid to life, explaining its importance to the Lima culture long before the Incas. It’s incredible to see such a well-preserved piece of history surrounded by the modern city. A positive and worthwhile experience for anyone interested in Peru’s rich past. You have to have a guide with you to enter. This is part of the admission fee.

This was a great activity to do in Lima. This ancient pyramid is in the middle of the city which gives an amazing contrast. It is mandatory to book tickets with a guided tour, you can not walk freely over the pyramid. They offer student discounts so make sure to bring your studentcard if you have one. We had to wait about 15 minutes for a guided tour started in English. Make sure you bring sunscreen and/or other protection for the sun as the tour takes about 45-60 minutes and there is no shade anywhere. It is quite hot. Our tour guide told a lot of information about the site. It was quite interesting but due to her accent and her talking speed it was hard to follow everything. At the end of the tour you visit a garden with local flora and some animals. There is also a restaurant where you can eat with views over the pyramid.
