Huan Soontaree

"Soontaree Vechanont doesn’t just own “Soontaree’s House” – the singer also performs here nightly. Set on the Ping River in an open-air, Lanna-style building with more tables outside, this charming restaurant can accommodate up to 350 guests. Among the Northern Thai cooking they serve is their signature boneless murrel fish stuffed with pork. It’s a creative dish, with the well-seasoned sausage proving suitably fragrant and spicy." - Michelin Inspector

Shared our anniversary dinner here and it was so unique! Sat outdoors, under the lanterns, and listened to the lovely live music. We ordered the northern Thai sampler, the sweet hinlay pork curry, bamboo shoot dry curry stir fry, sticky rice, and ice tea. The food was delicious and more than enough for 2 people to share. We were new to northern Thai food and found each bite to be flavorful and full of complexity. Dip the sticky rice in the curry and nam prik, and you can’t go wrong!

Very nice restaurant with live music, the owner use to be a famous singer in Thailand, and she will sing in live after around 7:30 pm. The fried frog legs are so delicious, they can do less spicy here in the restaurant for spicy dishes which is very accommodating. Service is slow but people are nice.

Beautiful atmosphere, lots of lights, plenty seating, live traditional music - Traditional food. The pork stuffed snake head fish seems odd but tastes great

This place is beautiful in so many ways. The decor and atmosphere are charming, the staff are helpful and friendly, and the food is fantastic and amazingly good value. The setting, right next to the river is gorgeous and we enjoyed the music throughout our evening, especially when K. Soontaree or Lanna were singing! This was the best restaurant we visited in Chiang Mai and we will definitely be back again.

Come for the live music vibes. Extremely talented singer doing her thing on stage. Cool, creatively designed restaurant as well. You would enjoy taking photos. Food was hitting me for that. But do note my taste buds are more Black and Western 🤷🏾‍♂️ Place has a Michelin.

Compared to many other Thai and Chiang Mai restaurants we found it expensive, not great service and limited selection of food. What we had was ok but not great. Atmosphere was nice and could imagine it being great once.

Included in Michelin guide, this local restaurant, established by the renowned thai-classic songstress who my mom and some of my relatives have been long-admired was, no doubt, one of the must-try for everyone that’s looking for northern thai traditional food. Lanna decorative style profoundly uplifted the eating experience along with the live band that played those familiar fascinating songs from 80’s and 90’s we’ve all loved. Our big family drastically enjoyed every food that some of us attempted to order as many dishes as possible. Good taste with reasonable price - how could we not eat too much? 😂 Mission: Photography with the iconic Ms. Soonthree Vechanont Result: Accomplished‼️
