I booked a 7 night stay at Hub by Premiere for a solo trip to London in July. I was trying not to break the bank, while staying somewhere centrally located, clean and modern. Although a lot of reviewers complained about the size, I'd stayed in a windowless Bloc Hotel room at Gatwick on a prior trip, so I was pretty confident that size wouldn't be an issue. Plus I'm the type to be out and about on vacation.
I arrived at 2:00p and was able to check in right away on a self-serve kiosk and go up to my room. Although compact, it was bright and had a window (but no real view). The bathroom featured a decently sized shower stall, toilet and sink, and truth be told, was about the same size as the bathroom in my Manhattan apartment. The bed was a full-size, abutting both the bathroom and the wall, and two big storage drawers pulled out from underneath to store luggage. There was also a slim hanging rack for hanging coats and other items.
Hands down, the best part of the hotel was it's location; midway between the Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square subways. I walked to Westminster Abbey, The London Eye, Covent Garden as well as Soho on several evenings. Food, shopping and theatre were located right outside the door. There were a surprising amount of English locals checking in for an overnigight theatre trip.
The hotel has a little bistro on the ground floor that serves a basic breakfast each morning. I took advantage off the offer to pay £5 in advance for breakfast each morning. I liked the convenience of being able to eat before heading out. I truly enjoyed the fresh grilled cheddar cheese sandwiches ("cheese toastee"), fruit cup and coffee. They even made me a to-go bag one morning when I was running late for a tour.
Departure was as seamless as my arrival. They held my bags for free while I attended a final tour from 9:30-12:30pm, and then had lunch. It made all the difference in enjoying my last day.
I would definitely stay again.
