The Best Coffee Shops in Denver | Eater Denver

"While the Sunnyside flagship of this well-established roastery and shop provides a quiet getaway in an artsy, colorful space with a large patio, its numerous other locations serve up equally good vibes along with a wide range of single-origin beans (e.g. Danche Marcelo beans from Ethiopia, Yellow Caturra beans from Peru) and specialty drinks like sweet potato-spiced lattes or lemongrass espresso tonics." - Ruth Tobias

20 Top-Tier Denver Coffee Shops

"While the flagship Sunnyside location of this well-established roastery and shop provides a quiet getaway in an artsy, colorful space with a large patio, its three siblings serve up equally good vibes along with the likes of Hulikere beans from India and orange blossom–honey lattes: Check them out in the Dairy Block development downtown as well as at 4040 Tennyson Street and 277 North Broadway." - Ruth Tobias, Eater Staff

Google
Huckleberry Roasters is a wonderful little spot to check out!!! I grabbed a vanilla latte. Super cute spot. Great outdoor opportunity. The only bummer and this is more as an opportunity. Is offer a huckleberry latte or the like as a signature name sake drink.

Google
This place was highly rated; I am grieved to say that the cappuccino was a little bit underwhelming. I heard that the matcha was very good. I'm excited to try the beans, as I tried huck at a different shop in the cappuccino was amazing there. I will try with pourover, though. The 4 stars is for having this roaster elsewhere and having a great cup there.

Google
Latte smoother than velvet. Driving across Denver, visiting friends and family, I needed a top-shelf coffee experience: this is IT! Excellent service. Hip ambience. Unique intriguing merch. Most importantly, and best of all the latte is smoother than any velvet a queen could ask for. Yes, pricier than most independent coffee shops. IMHO: worth the trip!

Google
Excellent coffee. We got a limeade one and that's the first time I had that, it was flavorful and I'd order it again. Staff can be a bit weird about asking the limeade though.

Google
Great atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. The gluten free muffin was delicious and the coffee was excellent. The one draw back is there is not many options of coffee or seasonal beverages. That is why I gave it 4 stars, but would still come back.

Google
Consistently great coffee and chai! The service is friendly and quick. The chai is so fresh and full of flavor. Huckleberry has oat milk as a dairy free alternative, which is great. The croissants are fresh, flaky, and delicious. My favorite is the almond blueberry. This location also has a nice outdoor seating area. The bathrooms are gender inclusive and clean.

Google
The coffee was pretty good, and I liked the cookie, too.

Google
I've been drinking Huck for years, and it's easily some of the best coffee I've ever had, and I've tried tons of different places. Every interaction with the people at Huckleberry Roasters has been positive, their customer service is fantastic, and obviously, they have great beans. I recently placed an online order for pickup. Koan was super responsive and got me freshly roasted beans next day. I really appreciate the effort the team went through to get them in my hands quickly. I can't wait to continue trying all of the various beans that Huckleberry has!

Yelp
For sure a coffee shop that I will be back too !! The coffee was like an 8.9/10 but still really good ... The burrito was Amazing ... you can tell they made it fresh ... The staff were freaking awesome ... helped me out in picking my iced coffee !!! And I just love the whole vibe and scene of the place !! Place to check out for sure!
google avatar

Kayla L.

Yelp
Good coffee but a limited menu. Some indoor seating as well. Conveniently located! The oat milk latte was great. All sizes come with 2 shots of espresso so I went with 8oz!
google avatar

Tatiana T.

Yelp
This unassuming coffee shop along 38th was the treat I was looking for this morning. Street parking was super easy to find. The Oatmilk is made in house and mixes beautifully with the espresso. The inside is spacious and bright, a perfect place for 1:1 meetings or remote workers. When it gets warmer outside, there's plenty of space outside to gather. And the staff was warm, welcoming, and genuinely friendly. They also serve Bonfire Burritos!! 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
A very cool, comfortable, and quiet space to hang out and have a good coffee. I had an espresso and a drip; my friend had a lavender rosemary latte (or cappuccino). All were excellent. The staff was very friendly. I've used their beans at home quite a few times but never visited a shop (I don't live in the Denver area--I've ordered their beans). I would be happy to have this as a neighborhood spot back in DC. Great place.
google avatar

Yelp
The coffee and vibes here are great. There are 6 or so tables inside, it's quiet and cozy inside. And then there are a handful of large picnic tables outside. I got the sweet potato spiced latte and it was delicious. I enjoyed that it wasn't quite as sweet as a traditional pumpkin spice latte.
google avatar

Allison C.

Yelp
LOVE Huck!!! Literally such a yummy latte! The atmosphere here is so chill and I love coming here! The people are always so friendly and welcoming. I can't wait to go back!
google avatar

Cynthia G.

Yelp
Great place to do some work or catch up with friends! You can easily find street parking on a weekday - free for 2-3 hrs. The baristas are very kind and friendly. Love their selection of drinks as well.
google avatar

Heather H.

Yelp
I saw this place by accident, and I'm always down to try locally-roasted coffee beans. The gentleman who helped me pick these out was so kind. It was hoppin' at 2:30pm on a Wednesday! Cool vibes. Nice people.
google avatar

Yelp
This has become a recent favorite of mine in the Sunnyside area! The inside isn't toooooo big but have a great shaded area outside for additional seating. Everyone working is great and always super friendly. Their drip, cold brew and lattes have all been delicious! Have recently started trying their food and have been blown away by quality, flavors and cost. They offer vegan, veggie, or meat and all 3 are very flavorful and come out nice and crispy. $7 for the burrito. We tried the avocado toast and almond butter, fruit and honey toast today. They are both HUGE and $9, very worth the cost. Overall, highly suggest stopping by and giving their drinks and food a try!!
google avatar

Yelp
Getting some work done at Huckleberry Roasters! Such a cozy spot with friendly staff. The barista had great drink suggestion- a tahini latte! The morning bun is also a must-try! The orange zest gives it so much flavor and sets it apart from others that I have had. This coffee shop will be on my rotation!

Yelp
I tried Huckleberry Roasters on Pecos last week and had a pretty good experience. For those of you who like to work or study at coffee shops, this is for you: The noise level is not loud but it is also not quiet enough to take a work call. I studied here for 4 hours using headphones and had no problem concentrating! Although a cup of drip coffee is nearly $6, you do get free refills if you are sitting at the shop. There are relatively few outlets so if you plan on needing one, show up early or keep your eye out for one of the tables that has an outlet nearby. The restrooms are nice and all-gender and the main part of the coffee shop is wheelchair accessible.
google avatar

Joy Q.

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday afternoon. It was chill vibes at the coffee shop where you could tell a lot of residents in the area are regulars. This cafe has airy seating setup with lots of windows. Friendly service. People are respectful and not too loud. Some were studying and working. They have wifi too I ordered a Matcha latte with oat milk. The match was a little too diluted for my personal liking and I wish they put more in it so it didn't get overpowered by the milk. Store was good at recycling and providing paper straws. There's a water station as well
google avatar

Yelp
Great shop, good vibes, excellent coffee. Their beans are some of the best in the world. Just phenomenal, especially their natural process. UNREAL! Why only 4 stars? A cup of coffee is $5.50. I addressed this directly with the owner who sent me quite a lengthy explanation. At least they give you a free cup when you buy a bag. That's the only time I drink their prepared product. I wonder if they'd sell even more beans if people could actually try the drip coffee for a reasonable price? That's how I discovered their stellar coffee to begin with! Less profit on drip to drive more wholesale business perhaps?

Yelp
The Avocado Toast was solid. Great amount of avocado, with the perfect amount of lemon juice.

Yelp
Huckleberry Roasters has been a favorite shop since moving to Colorado last year. Today I tried their Spiced Sweet Potato latte. It was the perfect fall drink. The baristas were super helpful with drink recommendations, and the interior of the shop was extremely cute. Definitely excited to return to this location.
google avatar

Kevin D.

Yelp
The coffee here is very good. Their espresso is some of the best I've had in the Denver area! Staff are all very friendly, but you can expect a bit of a wait if you're ordering food as they make some food to order.
google avatar

Peyton M.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops by far! Staff is super friendly and the cold brew is delish! Highly recommend any of their locations.
google avatar

Kyle P.

Yelp
So many great coffee and breakfast bites in Denver, and Huckleberry stands up there with all of them. Love that they roast their own beans. Love that they have their unique plays on seasonal offerings (sweet potato spiced latter). Love that everything is fresh and delicious. You absolutely can't go wrong with the almond butter toast, an elevated peanut butter and jelly with whole, and smashed, blueberries subbing in. A great spot to visit anytime I'm in town!
google avatar

Emma J.

Yelp
This may be one of my new favorite coffee shop chains in Denver. While I am not a coffee drinker, I do love my chai's and they have a really good one. I also appreciated that they allowed my aunt and I to try some of the coffee's they had when she was trying to make a decision, this was a very nice touch. I also ordered the za'atar avocado toast and it is simply delicious. Definitely fits into the category of less is more as it is so simplistic yet flavorful.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
Fantastic coffee shop! Huckleberry came highly recommended, a trusted friend said it was in their top 5 roasters in the country. Pretty impressive recommendation. The shop is in a kitschy neighborhood and is bright and colorful. As soon as I stepped in, I was warmly welcomed and given some details about their seasonal drinks. I ordered an espresso, and a sweet potato latte from their seasonal menu and both were fantastic! Great vibe, delicious coffee, and loads of great staff and customers.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Finally made it to Huckleberry Roasters and it did not disappoint! I was fully planning on getting my usual unexciting coffee shop order, but was last minute swayed toward the spicy mocha, a seasonal special. Wow, that drink was SPICY...Like a big dollop of wasabi mixed right on in there. If you're looking for something a bit different and something to really wake you (and your sinuses) up, I recommend giving it a shot! I got my drink to-go, but really enjoyed the calm and positive vibes here! Friendly baristas, compostable/reusable utensils, tasty coffee, and cool merch!
google avatar

Diane R.

Yelp
Avacado toast is amazing, generous serving with ingenious lemon flavors! The coffee does not disappoint and the baristas are attentive and friendly. Great energy

Yelp
Really enjoyed my experience at Huck. It has a good amount of tables with indoor and outdoor seating and a great ambiance for working. I enjoyed the indie music playlist with bands such as Alvvays and Foxygen. The coffee was great also. I got a lavender rosemary latte, a seasonal drink which was delicious. I didn't realize I would like this flavor combination so much. I also purchased some beans, the blue orchid blend, which made for a great latte at home. Of note, they give you a free espresso with purchase of beans which I think is a nice touch. Will definitely be back!
google avatar

Gabby S.

Yelp
I tried Huckleberry on a Friday and it was pretty busy. Always the sign of a good coffee shop. I'm additional to their coffee menu they also has quite a few pastry and breakfast options and some interesting seasonal options. I tried the Iced Apple Pie latte, the other seasonal flavors were Sweet Potato and Orange Caramel. I'm not sure how I feel about those two but the Apple Pie was very tasty! It had the perfect amount of apple and cinnamon to compliment the coffee. I also got a breakfast burrito, it was a bonfire burrito which I always love! The location itself is super cute. Lots of art both inside and outside the building gives it lots of personality. I cannot wait to see what type of creative seasonal drinks they come out with for the holiday season!
google avatar

Renee W.

Yelp
Huckleberry Roasters in the Dairy Block is wonderful! If I could I would have tried everything but my caffeine tolerance is only so high. So I tried the Cloud 9 which is cold brew with creamy foam, a hint of mint and definitely chocolate on the back end. It reminded me of mint chocolate chip ice cream! Really great local spot.
google avatar

Maddie M.

Yelp
I love huckleberry roasters. Each location is unique in its own way, but I especially love this one because it's not as busy as the Tennyson location and they have an extremely well covered patio which makes it great for working. The baristas are always super friendly and they have great merch too. Will always come here!
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
It's difficult to find a coffee shop in Denver that's open after 2pm on a Sunday, but Huckleberry is the place! We enjoyed sitting outside on the patio with our drinks as we watched a storm rolling in. Good espresso and they have some allergy friendly bakery items. Please offer more non-dairy options than only oat milk! We'll definitely visit again.
google avatar

Delilah S.

Yelp
tasty coffee beans! i had ordered a bag, at home, for my coffee lover a few months ago, so when we visited denver, we had to visit the shop and bring some more beans home! parking is easy! staff is friendly and the options are great! i got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk and he ordered a drip! we were very satisfied. totally recommend! we see why they won roaster of the year :)
google avatar

Bridgette G.

Yelp
This is a locals favorite. It's just walking distance from the surrounding homes in Sunnyside Denver. They have Merch and Specialty beans you can buy. You can even be a member and get 6 drinks and your coffee beans in a reusable and cute mason jar to take home for your home brewing. Overall it's a cute place and the staffers were happy to serve and help with our take home selection. Who's you're coffee huckleberry!?!
google avatar

Matt R.

Yelp
Good quality coffee. Unfortunately, the avacado toast was the worst I've ever had. Just covered in Zaatar and lemon to the point where the toast was completely soggy.
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
I've been to Huckleberry so many times since it's where we typically get our beans... I'm surprised I've never reviewed them. They have a great bean selection (you can get a free drip coffee with each bag purchase), they have a discounted bean program (that we need to do!), and lots of beverage and breakfast options. The staff are always friendly and it has a nice laid back vibe. They have ample indoor and outdoor seating options too!
google avatar

Olivia Z.

Yelp
The coffee here is always amazing!! Never misses. Its a cute little spot with a big patio. Great place to work or just chill with an amazing cup of brew!
google avatar

Chloe R.

Yelp
I spent the afternoon working from Huckleberry Roasters and had an great experience! The exterior is colorful and lively, and the interior is cute and cozy. The baristas are very friendly and give great recommendations! I tried the spiced sweet potato latte when it was recommended to me, and I'm SO glad I did. The flavor was rich and well balanced, and it paired perfectly with my Parmesan black pepper croissant (good, but heavy on the pepper!) I highly recommend spending a morning or afternoon at Huckleberry Roasters!
google avatar

Allie C.

Yelp
I really enjoyed this cute coffee shop on my Colorado vacation! The worst part about it is the parking situation, but that's a small gripe when I think about how dreamy the coffee is! I got a rosemary lavender latte with oat milk and it was pure heaven - just the right amount of herbal flavor with delicious coffee. The vegan breakfast burrito is legit the best one I have ever had, and I will be trying to recreate it when I get home. Mushrooms, shredded potato, onions, peppers, in a pressed burrito with jalapeño sour cream sauce for dipping... I'm drooling just thinking about it! This is a forward-thinking shop, a safe space for all kinds of folks, and they even have a free food fridge outside for those who are hungry. If I lived near here, I'd be back so often they'd know my name!
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Everyone's favorite neighborhood coffee shop... and certainly my favorite during my visit! Whether you enjoy a drip or favor a flavored latte, they offer just a little bit of everything for every kind of coffee drinker. I had a simple latte with a robustness that delivered plenty of warmth and delight on a chilly Denver morning. Their front patio is setup with simple picnic benches, perfect for basking in rays of sunshine. I ordered indoors but their space seems to have the capability to open up a wide window for servicing guests outside. Something super cool I've never seen before: a refrigerator and food locker for the homeless and hungry located on the side of the shop. Drop in food and leftovers as needed! The existence of such a hospitable resource is automatically worthy of 5 stars!
google avatar

Yelp
What a cuuuuuuuute coffee shop. One of my Queens friends actually told me about this super local Denver spot and I am eternally grateful. As soon as I walked out of my car I could smell the magic of Huckleberry Roasters!!! This spot is for serious coffee lovers! They offer SINGLE ORIGIN ROASTS, prepackaged in bags and really dope merch selection. (Beanies & mugs) Ironically I got matcha today (with oat milk) since I have coffee beans at home. PERO once those coffee beans are done, I am headed straight here to grab a bag! Thomas took my order at the counter. He was a great barista: so kind, and knowledgeable. Note, he wearing a mask, (I mean obvi with COVID times) and there was hand sanitizer on the counter. Yay.
google avatar

Vivian C.

Yelp
So my friend and I stopped by here to study for a bit, and it seemed like a pretty cute place to study. There were a good handful of people studying and reading in there and the place was pretty cute. However, I just got a mocha latte which was pricier than what I am used to paying for coffee and the quality wasn't spectacular as I had hoped for that price. It definitely wired me up tho. The volume of the place wasn't the best for studying. Might come back to try a different beverage and maybe their toast. Probably won't be back to study though.
google avatar

Ernesto M.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop in all of Denver. The staff are the kindest, the drinks there are well-made, and their wifi is always top notch. I like coming here to work or to connect with my friends and family. If you need complete silence, this isn't the place for you. However, it's perfect for me because I like a little background noise and music bumping so I can be most productive haha hope you like it, too!

Phyllis J.

Yelp
I ordered coffee online because it sounded interesting. I know they are selective about the quality of coffee they purchase but this Ethiopia Gure Kesso they were talking about sounded interesting. I found myself brewing a second pot of coffee today and drinking it throughout today. It's smooth, creamy, rich, and just satisfying. It's a coffee you can drink all day and cools to an even higher level. Keep up the great work.
google avatar

Kerlin M.

Yelp
I had their sweet potato spiced latte, so freaking good! It wasn't sweet, tasted like a dirty chai but better. It can be a bit crowded and load, but it all depends on who decides to visit the coffee shop that day.
google avatar

Bernadette D.

Yelp
I was so excited to visit this roaster! The interior looked super cute, but due to COVID they just have a walk-up counter. Staff was nice and knowledgable of their coffees. When the weather, is nice, their patio is perfect to drink your coffee & eat your breakfast! I ended up getting a breakfast burrito (I don't remember the name of it but it had bacon, eggs, and cheese in it) and a drip coffee (of their light roast). The burrito was delicious and perfectly paired my black coffee. Definitely recommend going here if you're a coffee lover and want to grab a bag of freshly roasted beans!
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
The service was very nice. Very friendly staff. However, drinks are a bit watered down. Overall, do not be fooled. There is indeed no huckleberry of any sort.
google avatar

Krystal C.

Yelp
Hello best coffee shop in the Denver area you sexy thing you This was my first coffee shop on my visit and the freaking best! Go! Just go Coffee: Yea, these people know their stuff. They make an awesome latte with oat milk, possibly the beat I've ever had? Yea, possibly Food: Did someone say avocado toast...... takes a second to get ready but worth the wait! Atmosphere: This is a where in the hell are we driving kind of place, but once you get there you know. You know this is going to be good. Inside area for working outside area for twerkin. I dig it. Tip: Go!

J B.

Yelp
Always enjoy this place. Good value and selection here. My go to when wanting the good beans.

Brian R.

Yelp
I'm sorry to say that my experience brewing a cup of their whole bean coffee left me thoroughly disappointed. I can't even give it 1 star because the taste is so bad. it doesn't even taste like coffee. Brian
google avatar

Justine A.

Yelp
Another excellent coffee shop -- great for picking up to go, hanging out with friends, or studying. I recommend the cold brew or the seasonal latte, but def ask the barista recommendations. They're knowledgeable and friendly, and can help you find the drink for you!
google avatar

Justin B.

Yelp
we came at 930 on a saturday and street parking was fine and ample! we got the honey lavender & orange blossom latte. the flavors were a nice addition on to the coffee which had a deep rich flavor. the avocado toast was pretty decent too! the staff said it would come out in ten minutes and it was p on time. it had a v big portion of bread and avocado nice and chunky with a fun salt and pepper moment on top. overall p good and would come again!
google avatar

Moe R.

Yelp
Here in town from San Diego and I don't know if I came on a wrong day or not but I looked up top coffee spots in Denver and huckleberry roasters popped up and decided to give it a shot. The gentleman at the counter was so rude when I asked him what do you recommend. Sounded like he didn't care at all. Didn't explain anything and decided to get a vanilla latte and vanilla with oat milk. Order was ready and asked him which one was which and he told me to read it written on the coffee. Coffee was 80 percent half and half didn't taste like a latte at all. Very disappointed by the guy and his attitude. On top of it I tipped %15.
google avatar

Sean W.

Yelp
Holy cow. I purchased a bag of the Civitas Blend - it's my new favorite. I cannot overstate how incredible this roast is. I've been on the hunt for my perfect roast lately... dark, but not too dark. Not much acidity. Not bitter. THIS IS IT. THIS IS THE ONE. It's nutty, vaguely caramely, nice and rich, with barely even a hint of acidity. What else is there to say? Perfection in a cup, I found you. Thanks for roasting up my new favorite early morning, late morning, and mid-afternoon religious experience, Huck. You guys know what's up.
