The Best Coffee Shops in Denver | Eater Denver

"Capitol Hill’s combination coffee and cocktail bar is a stylish day-to-night hangout serving all the usual potable suspects along with quickie breakfasts and snacks (including a fabulous grilled cheese sandwich). For an alternative to joe, try the spicy house chai or a turmeric latte; for an alternative to this location, owner Jake Soffes runs a similarly hip operation called the Wild across from Union Station." - Ruth Tobias

The Best Bars in Denver

"Jake Soffes owns three other notable Denver watering holes — LoHi’s Lady Jane, LoDo’s The Wild, and RiNo’s Two Moons Music Hall — but his flagship Cap Hill establishment stands out for an urban loft–like ambiance that spells comfort to its habitués by day and intimacy to couples by night. Part coffeehouse, part cocktail haunt, it pours turmeric lattes and concoctions like the Highway Robbery (vodka, rum, amaro, cantaloupe, and absinthe) with equal aplomb — though its grilled cheese sandwich is as good a reason to visit as any." - Ruth Tobias, Josie Sexton, Eater Staff

10 Best Coffee Shops in Denver | Condé Nast Traveler

"Open from early in the morning until late in the evening, Hudson Hill is equal parts coffeehouse and cocktail bar, and it flaunts its day-to-night style with aplomb. Owner Jake Soffes' hand-built lever machine does justice to the locally roasted, single-origin coffee beans, pulling cappuccinos that come in gold-rimmed cups and saucers, spot-on cortados, and other classics. But before you settle for the usual, you should ask about the daily special—it might be a Thai tea spritz flavored with pineapple and lavender or a proprietary chai-spiced mocha. You might even ask yourself whether you don’t deserve a cold brew spiked with gin and Campari, Negroni-style." - Ruth Tobias

Google
I was definitely not expecting to love this place as much as I did! I was surprised how quiet this cafe was especially with so many people in the space. Many folks were working and keeping to themselves but it had such a relaxing and welcoming vibe. We had some pâté and baguettes and the grilled cheese that came with some incredible jam and delicious mustard. The staff was so cool and nice and I also had the best London fog latte I’ve ever had. Thank you so much!

Google
Incredible spot! Service is top-notch and the bar is fantastic. Cocktail menu is also very cool and clearly well-thought out. The decor and vibe inside is 10/10. Definitely recommend the grilled cheese sandwich that Path has perfected!

Google
Great place to do work mid day or later into the evening. Fun vibe. Evening more of a cocktail hour so great to chat with someone over a drink, the music is always good but can be a little louder in the evenings FYI. Highly recommend the london fog and the grilled cheese

Google
Hudson Hill is a great coffee shop in the Capital Hill neighborhood that has a nice selection of coffee, tea, mocktails, and cocktails. They also have a small food menu so it was a good choice to set up and work for a few hours. Parking is metered so around so be aware of that. Thanks so much - see you next time.

Google
This place is a staple to the cap hill neighborhood! Whether you are coming in to get some work done or bringing in friends from out of town this place is the right environment! Has such a cute set up with comfy couches and plants, and a pretty wide variety of both coffee and boozy drinks and super knowledgeable bartenders if you want to craft something thats not on the menu. They recently started having a monthly comedy special and pallet city comedy and a backgammon club if you are into that!! Love this place, highly recommend you stop in while in the neighborhood

Google
Exquisite mocha and latte art, excellent service, perfect place for working or visiting with people. Love the layout of Hudson Hill, varied seating arrangements, all the amazing plants. It seems really chill and relaxing place to hang out and be. Hudson Hills might be in the top five of favorite Denver coffee shops.

Google
Place was empty but was told to squeeze together in the communal seating because it gets busy. It was just us and another couple. This isn’t my first or second time here. Service is constantly bad and entitled. Especially the girl in the hat. I asked for a plastic straw. Waitress told me to get up and get it myself. Very rude. The whipped coffee however is amazing even though it was 7 bucks for instant coffee so it felt like I was robbed.

Google
Love the atmosphere and the staff is great! It's a great spot whether you are going for coffee or drinks with a cheese board. They also have the best matcha latte I've ever had :)

Yelp
I love this place. Originally introduced to it by some friends from a book club going for a reading sesh, and keep coming back for the atmosphere and super tasty drinks. The staff is super friendly, and the customers are pretty awesome too. It seems like an area where we can all be friends. One of the times I've gone my friend was pregnant and she loved the variety for n/a drinks. She still talks about it and it was early 2022, so left quite an impression.

Yelp
What a lovely spot! Came here to get some work done on a weekday morning - while initially thrown off by needing to wait to be seated at a coffeeshop and getting table service, not a bad approach. The staff asks if you plan to get work done and if yes, they make sure to seat you by an outlet. It helps with crowd control and the economist in me loves that unstated social pressure for folx to not stay for hours on end with only ordering a single java. As far as decor, super cute. I'm a plant witch and this spot crushes the game! They've got some huge plants - all beautiful - and great array. Plenty of varied seating and while I sat at a counter to work, the couches and chairs looked very comfy. Someone clearly puts love into this place. For a drink, I went with a latte and added honey syrup - it was pretty and tasty. For food, I opted for their breakfast burrito - very yummy! Nice and crispy and cheesy. I would totally come back here to get work done and also to give their cocktails and mocktails a whirl. Definitely a win!

Yelp
Super kind staff! Make sure you tell them where you will be sitting, (sorry again for missing that!) I came here for a meeting and there are plenty of seats if you want to be at the bar or find yourself on the couch. Plenty of windows so the light comes in. Tons of plants and people were working from their laptops with the fast WiFi. One of the best dirty chai lattes that I have had in a while. You can tell they make it from scratch and I love having an extensive list of milk and flavor options.

Yelp
Just stopped by for a place to work and a coffee. There is plenty of seating and it's a great ambiance to get a little work done. The coffee was good, the right smoothness. Great lighting and friendly staff. I can definitely see myself coming back for a cocktail or a little bite.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a cute spot with a variety of things to drink and some fancy food and snacks to pair. I've only come in for coffee and I always enjoy their cold brew and lattes. The space is so cute with the mix of wood, leather, plants and brick and I think it's the perfect spot for meeting a friend for a chat or drink or even to get some work done. It is on the pricier end with lattes starting at $6 instead of $4.50-$5 but I think it's worth it for the quality. The staff here are also very efficient and kind. Parking can definitely be a deterrent as it's right on 13th in the busy part of Cap Hill but that likely won't deter me from another visit here soon.

Yelp
Yesterday my book club met at @hudsonhilldenver where we enjoyed some delicious cocktails, beers, teas, and coffee drinks! This spot is great to visit any time of day! New Boot Goofin' (Pink Peppercorn Toki, Meletti Amaro, Cinnamon, Orange Bitters)
google avatar

Yelp
Comfy seating with coffee shop vibe. Loved the chill music and the different seating options. I sat on the couch by the window and it was a comfy place to enjoy my beverage. I tried the Scenic Route. It had hints of lemon, honey and hibiscus. I loved it! I also tried the Easy Tiger which was a non-alcoholic option. I actually liked it even better than the cocktail. It was priced accordingly as well. Overall I had a great experience!
google avatar

Sean K.

Yelp
Fun atmosphere yummy drinks! Delightful staff! The only feedback is to avoid the patio. As an outdoor space, shared with other natural critters, you will never be alone.
google avatar

Sara C.

Yelp
One of my favorite coffee shops I've ever been to. Love the ambiance, it's peaceful, yet lots of people working makes for a "productive-feeling" environment. The coffee drinks are superb here. I want to return for a cocktail at some point!
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
My favorite spot for a nice stop for a quick coffee after my yoga sesh in the morning or a cute cocktail. Their happy hour is from 4-6 PM Monday - Saturday and all day Sunday. The bees knees is my go to for their happy hour! The ambience is also just lovely with all their natural light and plants encompassing around. Good for working as they do have outlets at their tabletop seating. The patio in the back area is also quite spacious and shaded which is a nice addition.

Yelp
Hudson Hill is burned into my brain as a great first date spot. Do you want coffee, or a cocktail, or both?! You can get it here with some small plates as well. The vibes inside are very planty and calm even when there is louder music playing. It's a great spot to come and get work done or to meet up with friends for a happy hour. They make a killer espresso martini and their sage butter old fashioned makes me want to curl up by a fireplace with a book - though it's still delicious in the summer too. The staff at HH is always so kind and quick to get to you. They circle constantly filling water but manage to do so without being too in your space. My only wish for Hudson Hill is that it were slightly less expensive! I find myself heading to other local coffee shops to work more often so I don't drop $15+ on two lattes/tip. If they had a rewards program or something along those lines you'd find me there all the time!

Yelp
Cute, Capitol Hill local neighborhood bar. The set up is nice, cozy and I like that the staff seats guests when they come in vs. random people sitting in locations. Only had a couple of margaritas but they were delicious. Staff is super friendly and patient. Happy I don't live close by otherwise I'd be here more.

Yelp
This place is amazing. Ask for Lindsay She's the best. She's attentive and very knowledgeable
google avatar

Yelp
This place was cute and had delicious coffee and bread and cheese snacks! We tried the turmeric latte, baguette, and grilled cheese. Both the baguette and grilled cheese were served with jam, and the baguette also had a side of Dijon mustard. It was delicious! Ambiance was demure and charming with hanging plants and lots of natural lighting.
google avatar

Olivia G.

Yelp
This charming spot offers the best of both worlds, serving up delicious coffee byday and cocktails by night, in equal measure. The unique combination creates anunforgettable vibe that's sure to leave a lasting impression. Great place to either get some work done or meet with friends for cocktails. I love sitting in the comfy couches in the corner! Parking can be challenging in the area so just plan on leaving extra time for that!
google avatar

Sobia B.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over a year and I still think of it time to time. I love their seasonal coffees, the banana bread is amazing. The burrito is good too. Ask for it heated! I've never had a bad experience. They are always quick to seat me. The service is attentive. Recently service has been a little down, feeling rushed and out of sorts. For example, got asked thrice in one minute of finishing my drink if I wanted another one. It's a coffee shop, relax. I understand trying to get more business through the door. All in all. Love this place. It has a special part in my heart.
google avatar

Edie A.

Yelp
Enjoyed my first time at Hudson Hill. It was busy on a Sunday but still a chill vibe. Good HH. Had to try the infamous grilled cheese sandwich and it did not disappoint! Cinnamon roll was also a delicious choice.
google avatar

Kenna G.

Yelp
Had a delicious cold brew here as well as a ham croissant. I sat at the bar and the workers were constantly making sure my water glass was filled and making sure I didn't need anything else. Awesome service. I loved the place itself, such a cute vibe and super cool that it is a bar and coffee shop.
google avatar

Heather T.

Yelp
We came here with friends for cocktails. The space was packed and we got the last table available. I went with 'The Burden of Proof' cocktail and the hubs opted for 'Amaro Boulevardier.' We were both really happy with our cocktails and they were really well done. The 'Burden of Proof' was so good, the hubs got that as his second cocktail. Our friends both got wine and a non alcoholic beer that checked the boxes for them. Service was awesome - very attentive without being overwhelming.

Yelp
I want to keep this place a secret forever but I'm afraid the word has already gotten out. The food and drinks are ASTOUNDING, the staff is kind and quick, and it's just a cute little vibe. The seating is mostly raised but I'm sure you can request to wait for the couch or lower chairs! You HAVE to go for drinks I am telling you it's TOP TIER! And the prices are so amazing I order multiple drinks at once, I hope they never change!
google avatar

Madison H.

Yelp
Excellent service and coffee/espresso. We were greeted so warmly by the baristas/servers. The seating is so cozy. Delicious brewed coffee and cappuccino. We're only in Denver for 1 morning and so happy we found Hudson hill!!
google avatar

Gabriella K.

Yelp
Relaxing environment. Lots of people working and studying. The rosemary latte with oat milk was fantastic. Lightly sweetened. The dalgona whipped coffee was delicious as well. Loved the Cronut and chai donut. When we arrived the hostess asked if we would need an outlet and wifi is provided for you. Good amount of outdoor seating. Great place!
google avatar

Sherrin M.

Yelp
I had high expectations for Hudson hill. Super cute spot. Parking is street and can be hard to find. Fun concept to have coffee + cocktails but service is seriously lacking so I'd give this place a 3.5. It took them over 10 minutes to pour a glass of wine. Come on?? Outside of the service it is charming in here. Good natural light, cozy seating, a variety of coffee drinks and cocktails. They have a good happy hour Monday - Saturday 4-7 PM and all day Sunday but their hh menu could use a little sprucing up.
google avatar

YooJin Y.

Yelp
Hudson hill is a favorite of mine. It's a coffee shop in the day and bar at night. You can order drinks from open to close. It's a smaller venue but that's the appeal of it. It's a well decorated space. All the servers are nice and friendly. I enjoy coming here to study for the ambiance but I also enjoy a date night here too

Shelby S.

Yelp
The service was awful. No one checked on our table for 25 minutes. We requested service two times and our server ignored and walked past our table two times without any acknowledgement. She also screwed up our order and blamed the customer. And charged me for the mess up. We had to ask to the check to be fixed. I highly recommend all the servers that were working on 9/16 at 1pm be trained in observation and active listening. I would have ordered more of my drinks. But the failure to do the bare minimum by the staff lost out on business. Additionally, making people feel like second class citizens is discriminatory and rude. Especially for the poor quality in food and over pricing. Do better.
google avatar

Kyle P.

Yelp
Well, I guess I'm a little late to the party on Hudson Hill, but better late than never! What a great little spot, a perfect vibe from the decor to the record player spinning Bob Dylan's "Street Legal" and other vintage vinyl. Oh, and the drinks are excellent as well. The newly unveiled Figgie Smalls is quite good, though perhaps a bit lacking in the fig department. The Isle of Avalon, however, is bursting with balanced apple hot toddy and fall spice vibes, really delicious. For me, the standout remains the High Tea, Earl Grey resposado with sherry, plum, and ginger. This one gets better and better as the ice slowly melts and it truly opens up, a unique blend of flavors that really shines. A really great spot in Capital Hill that's good from breakfast to early dinner, with a bartending staff that really knows their stuff.
google avatar

Anthony P.

Yelp
Had fun time there and I enjoyed the drinks so much. They have great selection of food and everything was so fantastic. Refreshing cool drinks and taste so good. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere. The vibe was cool and nice music. Feels so cozy inside too. We had great night! Staff were friendly and so nice. Great seating and has nice talk with some people.
google avatar

Yelp
Hudson Hill never disappoints. I usually come with friends, but last week I wanted to have a laptop power-hour so I went solo. The staff was extremely attentive but never pushy. Of course the cocktails are always yummy, but they have a great wine selection, too. I ordered a cheese platter and it was so much more than I expected -- there was plenty of bread to match the cheese ratio and a delicious jam pairing. The wifi is fast, there are plenty of outlets and so many seating options to match a variety of preferences.
google avatar

Stefanie C.

Yelp
Finally got to come here and try the Dalgona Coffee. Delicious! I've previously come here on a few dates but never got pictures of the cocktails. Hudson Hill is the perfect place for any occasion, especially happy hour. Love the customer service and variety of seating options. Street parking can be challenging but worth overcoming every time. Next time I'll have to try the food. Or chill alone while getting work done on my laptop. The possibilities are endless, and I can't wait to return.

Areli P.

Yelp
The place itself it super cute and aesthetically pleasing, but the staff??? Theyre good at bringing you your drinks ig but they are judgmental and unwelcoming. When I first walked in, my waitress straight up looked me up and down as if I was dressed crazy or something (i was wearing a black fitted top w some loose jeans and my makeup was done so I promise I didnt look crazy). The drinks are good but its not that hard to get a good drink in Denver tbh. I used to work in the service industry so I try to be understanding but the inconsistency with the service here is insane and most of the staff are unfortunately very stuck up. I'll give the drinks an 8/10, the service a 1/10 and the ambiance a 7/10. But overall a 2/10 bc they totally killed my vibe on a Friday.
google avatar

Indi G.

Yelp
Everything is incredible here. My favorite was the velvet Rabbit and the gold on the ceiling. Ambiance service and atmosphere 10/10 but the drinks out of this world. Must do if in the area but it's worth a special trip the n/an options looked marvelous as well.
google avatar

Raquel W.

Yelp
I'll start by saying this is a super cute coffee spot, I was really excited to try the coffee here and stopped in to grab a quick coffee to go. I ordered the lavender latte with oat milk honey and cinnamon. The latte was very good, and I enjoyed it. 4 stars for the coffee and ambiance. However the $1.00 add on for everything was a bit disappointing and honestly a turn off. A sprinkle of cinnamon- $1.00, honey- $1.00 lavender syrup-$1.00, oat milk $1.00. My very small 12oz latte (that was not filled to the top) costed 11 bucks, that seemed excessive. I stopped in on a busy Saturday morning and it was packed. Customer service was decent and the wait was not bad. Very cute, chic, rustic spot. Street parking is available and right around the corner from an amazing yoga studio. Unfortunately I won't be back.
google avatar

Chloe R.

Yelp
Finally made it to Hudson Hill and absolutely loved it! I finished my workday here with a dalgona whipped coffee (SO good - a subtle sweetness that wasn't too much, super rich flavor overall), then stayed for happy hour with a friend! We tried the margarita and bees knees, both of which were well-executed classics. The vibe at Hudson Hill is great - friendly service and a beautiful interior. My one word of warning is that noise levels were pretty high, so don't expect to take meetings here easily.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
I've been wanting to come here forever and finally made it in! I had never been to a coffee shop that has table service, and it definitely made for a more upscale experience. Very chic and plant-forward trendy interior, looks like it's right out of a magazine. I did some work here for a few hours and it was noticeably different from my usual laid-back coffee shop vibe. I enjoyed my coffee and will be back to try some cocktails!

Helene V.

Yelp
It's a lovely establishment! You can tell that there was a lot of love and care to create this place. The reason I am giving such a low review is because of how unkind an employee was. I'm sure others will have a better experience but I have to give it one star because of mine.
google avatar

Cherie S.

Yelp
The dalgona is delicious! I ordered the grilled cheese and wasn't really in love with it. I felt like the bread was too tough to chew. Maybe I'm more in love with a different type of grilled cheese. The type of grilled cheese where the cheese is oozing out. This more so felt like eating a baguette with sprinkled cheese. The Cinnabon was delicious although I wish they would warm their bakery goods. I didn't ask though so tht could be on me. The place is very chill and very intimate. There was a lot of people there when I went with my coffee date so anyone could hear your conversation. I kind of preferred a little more space.
google avatar

Amy B.

Yelp
Cute décor and ambiance, and ultimately, a great choice for a date spot! Had a glass of wine, a delicious and unique (and bougie/classy) grilled cheese, and a very rich fudge brownie
google avatar

Ali K.

Yelp
I cannot rave enough about this place. I am in actual mourning that I only discovered it during my last week in Denver, because I would literally come here every single week. This is not your normal coffee shop/bar. As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by one of the fabulous waiters to recommend you a seat, or to take your to go order. Then you are literally waited on the whole time. It's a full service coffee shop/bar. The decor is also soooo beautiful and such a vibe! Plants, pretty lights, and earthy woods give such a peaceful and productive energy to get some work done, or provide an environment to catch up with friends. I could spend hours in here. They also have a full coffee and cocktail menu. I got an iced vanilla latte with oat milk. It was perfectly sweet and pretty large too. I also tried the almond croissant which was decadent and huge. I'm dying to try their cocktails and the rest of their food. They look very well curated and delicious! You have to come here, whether it's for solitude, company, coffee or cocktails, they have it all!
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
They played Do You Dig It, Man? by Kashmere Stage Band. Who even listens to this? I'm stuck in a shcizo spiral after that, I am watching myself in the mirror now and everything is 2-D hand drawn Nickelodeon cartoons having dinner together. The drinks were good.
google avatar

Taissa C.

Yelp
Love this place! I only had drinks here but I believe they are also a coffee shop. The people working are welcoming and fun. Super cute vibes too.
google avatar

Jenna K.

Yelp
i love the matcha & cocktails but, workers truly give off such a pretentious and snooty demeanor. it makes the atmosphere incredibly uncomfortable and stiff. something i continue to look past and come, but thought i'd share.
google avatar

Lauren H.

Yelp
I love this place! A girlfriend took the girls here for coffee yesterday and the atmosphere is amazing! It's nice and cozy! They have baristas that come to your table to take your order, keep up on your water glasses, etc. I ordered an iced pumpkin latte, and it wasn't too flavored, but it was still delicious! I hope to go back!
google avatar

Stephanie N.

Yelp
This is a cute little coffee shop that also sells alcohol (they have a full bar!). They are open pretty late, until 10:30pm usually. I came on a Monday night, around 8:30pm and was surprised to find it so busy. I love the vibes here - tons of greenery, comfortable seating, and fun music. I'd recommend this spot for date night, or to catch up with some friends. There aren't any big tables inside. They do have an outdoor patio that has bigger tables for larger groups, but it's not as cute outside (seating is under a plain white tent)
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Returned for a second time. The Shropshire grilled cheese is fantastic. Many of the components i normally wouldn't be too fond of individually but they come together surprisingly well. The mustard and cherry jam are things i wouldn't normally even consider for a grilled cheese, but they help balance out the pungent Shropshire. The Thai tea adds in lavender, lemon, and pineapple, with pineapple being the most prominent flavor besides the tea. Its not how im used to drinking thai tea but its a nice, different, take on it. I will say, i wish the lavender was a bit more prominent. Not pictured but the london fog was pretty good as well and i think my favorite drink so far. They seem to concentrate the tea so it tastes richer, a bit like a good royal milk tea.
google avatar

Richard F.

Yelp
They're one of the few places that makes a Dalgona, and there's is by far the best. Their other coffee drinks are tasty, but the Dalgona is where it's at. Their grilled cheese is divine and inspired me to reconsider this simple food. They way they do it is incredible, even if you're not a fan of grilled cheese. The servers are amazing and always on it. They remember every detail about your order and constantly updated the drink menu (for cocktails). While this is one of my favorite places to work from a caffeinated state into a boozed one, it isn't ideal to post up for long stretches. They have adequate bar space and accommodate folks with a middle section with outlets, they offer table service in a relatively quaint-sized space. Just be aware and considerate of that. Parking can be a challenge, and sometimes they're insanely busy (because they're so good), but these things come with the territory and isn't a negative reflection of the business itself.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
There was about a half hour wait when my two friends and I arrived around 5pm on a Tuesday. The most accommodating host and waiters started us in the heated tent in the back and were consistently on the lookout for a space for us inside. We ordered the daily specials and were very content with the temp and service! Once we made it inside, the atmosphere was super cozy! Loved the plants, lighting, and music. There were flexible seating arrangements, too. If you're looking for something a little more casual and inviting, this is the place.
google avatar

Pamela M.

Yelp
Cool, classy, modern vibe. Limited but still a variety of food, mostly snacky type things. Coffees, cocktails, wines, and beers. They have different sitting areas to choose from: bar, stools, couch, and chair areas. It's not very big inside but can fit a decent amount of people. The staff is always super kind and friendly! Always had good interactions and customer service there. Happy Hour specials that are "ok" from 4 to 7 Mon to Sat.
google avatar

Tavani C.

Yelp
Came here for happy hour. The discounts during happy hour aren't exactly deep. The vibe was energetic but intimate. Lots of fun conversation buzzing around warm lighting. I ordered the cocktail of the day, which was a surprising but lovely blend of rum, coffee and pineapple. I'll be back to try some of their breakfast offerings.
google avatar

Madi H.

Yelp
The vibes here, first of all, are incredible. The workers are nice, the energy is lively, and the espresso martinis are perfect. I love the plants hanging around, and I'd love to come here to do some work. The only downside is that there's not much space when it gets busy. It's hard to find seating at times, but when you do, you don't wanna let it go. Love it.
