"It’s a dozen oysters for Matt Bolton at one of Dallas’s new classic seafood spots. He likes to follow them up with the lobster roll, though he also insists Hudson House has the best cheeseburger in town. And, he adds, diners can “never go wrong with the popcorn chicken.”" - Courtney E. Smith

Dallas’s Top Brunch Spots | Eater

"A bit of New York comes to Dallas by way of Hudson House. Inspired by the rich bounty of the Hudson Valley, Hudson House’s menu is loaded with classic brunch favorites: bagels, four kinds of lox, avocado toast, and an eponymous sandwich that features smoked bacon, cheddar, scrambled egg, dijonnaise, and a creamy avocado dip. We have been to Hudson house several times and each time it does not disappoint. The seafood is amazing, but we also love the cheeseburger and salads. SERVICES, spot on and I haven't been but I've heard we should visit during Christmas because they go all out with decorations.

This Place Is Sooo Nice and Very Socially Acceptable. The Prices was a Little pricey but I Was Willing To Pay for The Experience. The Atmosphere was Inviting. Our Waiter Omar was Charming , Pleasant and Knowledgeable. He Was Very Welcoming. Yes I Will Definitely Be Back 💯 Thank you Hudson House.

Google
One of the best key lime pies ever! Good creative martinis. The French Chicken dish was delicious. That is a compliment coming from someone who seldom orders chicken. I did feel that the menu was a little limited; that's ok because they are serving what they do best. One star removed because the floors were dirty, and there was a nuisance 🪰 inside.

Google
It was really refreshing to have great food, a great atmosphere, and great service. The salmon was so well done & the rest of my table was raving about their meals as well. Well worth it!

I went to the Hudson House a week ago to have happy hour with my friend. We had heard about the $3 Oysters and $10 burgers during happy hour and had to go see about this hype. It is no hype at all! It was a completely wonderful experience! It is a beautiful scene inside with plenty of white flowers, crisp linen, and an easy going ambiance. It seems like there were a good mixture between ages, table sizes, friend groups and couples. The service was great. Our waitress had many suggestions for our drink, but I'm a 'tini girl, so I stuck with my happy hour 1/2 price extra dirty martini w/ Bleu cheese olives. I ordered the fresh happy hour Oysters that came with cocktail sauce a cranberry mignonette. When I say amazing, I mean "Ah-mazing" I did not believe that I could eat all of them, but I slammed them down! They are $3 during happy hour, but there is a minimum of 6 to order. I also ordered the $10 happy hour burger. My friend ordered the truffle parm fries and the $10 happy hour burger. I cannot say enough about this place. Everything was so delicious! The burger only needed a bit of salt pepper, but was sooooo yummy! This a must go especially during happy hour! You've gotta try this place!

Google
Exceptional experience at HH, our server Andres at the Dallas North location was amazing and will informed. He made us really excited about the meals as well as our drinks. Overall, everything was great and we loved our time there.

Google
We had a fantastic experience at Hudson House! The oysters were amazing, and our server did a great job explaining them. The chicken parm was my favorite, absolutely delicious. We also loved the spicy Mexican cocktail and the key lime pie was really good. Highly recommend!

Google
10/10 in everything! The food was divine; the cheeseburger, Mac and cheese and the Hudson salad were all just perfection we did not want it to end! Oh and a Diet Coke in a glass bottle??? Like I need to go back tomorrow. Service was amazing, ambience was really nice too; best way to describe it would be a mix between a cozy, hometown diner and upscale restaurant. Just so inviting and intriguing.

Yelp
Can I just say that this place is so amazing and makes you feel like you are in another century somewhere near Savanah, GA. It takes you back in time with a beautiful southern/nautical flare that makes you feel like you will run into the cities most up and up. The only thing that could've made the vibe more real was a live jazz band. The flower arrangements and vases were breathtaking and I love, love, love, how uniform the them is throughout with the blue and white variations. The staff from beginning to end were impeccable! The professionalism, the crispness of the uniforms, just wow! We went for happy hour to indulge in their famous cheeseburger for $10, and the discounted selected cocktails. I opted for the French 75 and it was delicious! Strong, subtle, cold, perfect. I ordered the French Chicken which is served with a beautiful silky sauce, French fries, and a peppery arugula salad. The chicken is so succulent and juicy, chef's kiss! To finish it off, we ended with the key lime pie which was insanely delicious! Again, masterfully balanced sweet and tart, and the homemade cream on top needs to be for sale!! If it wasn't so rude and inappropriate I would've licked the plate! I will not ever set foot in Dallas again without making Hudson House one of my stops! ***Only downside, at this location, the parking is a bit of a nightmare. ALSO, they don't take cash, so make sure if you want to tip by cash you have your bills sorted because they can't break any bills for you.

Yelp
Met up with friends here while in town for a work trip. 50s type diner meets modern food and drink. It was easy to get a table at peak time on a Saturday night. Was promptly sat by the friendly host! Wait staff were very attentive and orders brought out quickly. I enjoy seeing a place where servers help each other. It makes for a better experience and everyone gets their food/drinks quick! This night we opted for the Avocado dip. whipped avocado, lemon juice & Maldon salt, served with ranch chips. Chips were the perfect pub chip! They even brought us extra! Entrees were lobster rolls with skinny fries (friend highly recommend this! Didn't go wrong). A buttery warm roll with a heaping helping of lobster meat. The other entree of the night was chicken parm. A huge order slathered with sauce and a side of pasta. Known for their cold martinis I had the Stone Fruit martini and it was one of the coldest Ive had! Also known for their happy hour you can get a solid deal on cheeseburgers, oysters and martinis. With several locations in Texas and one in Beverly Hills CA, it's a solid place for happy hour or nice dinner!

Yelp
Excellent food, coastal vibe, and beautiful Christmas decor! Reservations recommended. This place is well known for its gorgeous Christmas decorations, but they also had the best peppermint martini that I've ever had. The blackened redfish was incredible; it was basically a wrap with fish pieces and coleslaw inside. Not "fishy" tasting at all! Good size too. The truffle parm fries were yummy, and two of us ordered them as an appetizer even though it's a side. The Hudson salad with spicy chicken tasted freshly made and had plenty of avocado in it - even better! The chicken was breaded nicely and did NOT taste like cheap frozen meat. What a fun, unique restaurant. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Love Hudson House! The restaurant was so comforting and welcoming. The food was a 10/10 and the drinks were TOO good! I love everything about my dining experience here. Would come back again!

Yelp
Great ambiance and quality food. This place was packed on Thursday at 1PM. Note that there are multiple locations. I made a reservation at the wrong location but the hostess was kind enough to seat us. DRINKS - Ginger & Whiskey 4/5 FOOD - Seafood Bouquet 3/5: $98 for 18 oysters and 8 cocktail shrimps. So worth it for the price! Accompanied with nice condiments. It did not come with any horseradish so we had to ask for that on the side. Sadly, it was not spicy at all. - Beverly Salad 3/5: This salad was stacked! Very fresh and the homemade house dressing was super savory. - Lobster Roll 2/5: Could be better overall. The toast was okay and the lobster was bland. - Cheeseburger 3/5: I had heard that the burger was one of the most popular items on the menu and it was pretty good! Well dressed and juicy. Wish the bun was a bit more toasted and the sauce was a bit lacking. Overall, good quality but overpriced at $16. I noticed that they had this listed for $10 on their happy hour menu. Definitely more worth it for that price. - Truffle Parm Fries 3/5 Overall, I'd probably give it a 3.5/5. The rest of the dishes were on the pricey side.

Yelp
We arrived close to 2pm on a Wednesday. We got seated right away at a booth. Everything we ordered was delicious. I would definitely recommend: Shrimp Dynamite (appetizer) Lobster Roll Key Lime Pie Our waiter was super friendly. I would come back!

Yelp
The food here was amazing and so fresh! The inside of this restaurant is cute too. I would definitely come back here. The service was phenomenal as well!

Yelp
I've been here for both dinner and brunch and both meals have been amazing! They never miss here and the service is always great. For dinner I got the infamous cheeseburger and it was probably the best cheeseburger I've ever had. The fries were also very good. For brunch, I ordered the breakfast sandwich and a side of house potatoes. YUMMY! It was sooo good. I had a margarita and lemon drop martini, both delicious. The ambiance is nice and homey inside. You must try it.

Yelp
Location University Park Parking Street-yes across the street best but be careful crossing the street. Atmosphere Classy bar and restaurant. Service Outstanding Who knew this place was so popular for happy hour that you need a reservation! Anyway. Akan was amazing as was the host staff. Menu Read it carefully-half price Bellini, martinis, and wine-$3 oysters,$10 burgers. Best burger you will ever have. My daughter thought the pickle was a additional garlic bread, it was so big! The peach Bellini is a frozen taste of heaven! Great wine list! Stone fruit martini-amazing! Known for oysters-great menu for those. Entrees, salads, great choices. Summary Fantastic happy hour, outstanding service! Classy sphere! We will be back!

Yelp
The cheeseburger, giant pickle, and skinny fries did not disappoint. I'm not sure what seasoning was on the pickle but it was so good. The burger was perfectly cooked, didn't fall part with each bite, and the skinny fries were crispy. Staff were friendly, service was quick and the restaurant has a classy southern vibe. We will definitely be back next time we're in Dallas.

Yelp
A staple. One of my better happy hours. Parking: dreadful. arrive early and stay late. Parking is very limited and shared with neighboring businesses. 2 hour parking limit on spaces, 15 min for some, 30 for some. Prepare to park and walk Happy hour 3-6 M-F. Jordan, our server-- the bartender. Attentive, funny, and personable. The BEST lemon drop I've ever tasted. BEST. Foam top. Smells like a lemon cake. Tastes amazing. $7 on happy hour- $14 without. Burger is $10 on HH too. It was pretty decent. Bar seats have purse hooks. Bar seats to the left have backs. The right, backless. Will return time and time again.
google avatar

Yelp
The food is phenomenal! Especially the French toast!! Literally the best French toast I've ever had. The only downside was our server. She barely checked on us, and my boyfriend had to ask for syrup, fill up our waters, etc. Versus when I went to the Irving location, our server was very attentive, and knew everything we needed before we had to ask.
google avatar

helen G.

Yelp
Our sever was very nice and attentive. the food was great everything tasted fresh and came out quick. this was our first time here and it was so cute inside great for pics.

Yelp
This was my first time visiting Hudson House and it was a very pleasant experience! Ambiance: The restaurant is medium to more dimly lit during dinner time. There is bar and booth style seating. It has a very cute and trendy vibe to the restaurant. Service: The service was incredible and the waiter was very accommodating and friendly!! Chicken parm: The chicken parm was so delicious! The chicken parmigiana is a standout dish, featuring tender chicken topped with a flavorful tomato sauce and melted cheese. The chicken pairs so well with the spicy vodka sauce pasta that comes with the dish!! Overall, so delicious and great vibes here! I will for sure be back here to try more stuff off the menu.

Sharon C.

Yelp
Hudson House is one of my favorite spots for a nice dinner! The food is always fantastic especially their Cheeseburger (one of the best burgers I've ever had)! The staff is very professional and kind while the restaurant itself is beautiful and very aesthetically pleasing
google avatar

Yelp
Bright and cheerful setting. Consistently good service. Solid American menu with emphasis on seafood. For lunch on this visit, liking the twist of their firm blackened Atlantic redfish, "Fish Tacos" served burrito style, while the highlight was the tantalizing dressing in HH's "Jack Salad"! CHEERS!
google avatar

Sean L.

Yelp
Their oysters were top notch and the sushi was great too. I would definitely try their spicy popcorn chicken as well - that menu item seems like the fan favorite. Overall a great experience at a cozy spot.

Yelp
This was the Keylime pie. It tasted very good. You should order this for yourself and eat it before your . thank you.

Yelp
I wish there was a location closer to my home. The Hudson House restaurant is clean, the staff make you feel like you are old friends, and the food and drinks are phenomenal. Highly recommend the shrimp dynamite, avocado dip, and the fish tacos. Also, you can't go wrong with their dirty martinis or espresso martinis! Yum!

Yelp
Made a RSVP for a late lunch (Saturday) at this location. The parking is free but a little limited around the restaurant (I ended up parking across the street). Upon arriving we were seated quickly and our waitress was pleasant. I ordered a lemon drop and it was made nicely. For food, I ordered the cheeseburger and added a side of skinny fries (the sides are separate give or take a few items on the menu that includes it). The cheeseburger was good (typical burger) and I did enjoy the fries, they also serve the cheeseburger with a massive seasoned pickle. Overall, it was a decent experience with good customer service.
google avatar

Yelp
The food here was great. We sat at the bar for happy hour and the drinks were really unique and delicious. The bartender was really nice! The decor was also so inviting!
google avatar

Heather G.

Yelp
Parking very easy to get in to this place. The decor is really cute, it was full and loud with lots of tables which is a great sign. We had a very kind waitress who was nice enough to answer all of my questions ultimately deciding how I ordered. She was honest too which I always appreciate. I never order chicken at a restaurant because it's always dry. Well she convinced me to try the French chicken dish. Let me tell you, I will always order it when I go here. It was so freaking juicy and full of flavor. And idk what sauce they put on top of it but it was creamy and delicious! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. The shoestring fries were also very tasty. The appetizer chips and guac was delightful and unique and I would get it again. The chips were nicely seasoned. I also loveddddd my virgin cocktail, definitely worth the price. My friend had ordered the sandwich burrito wrap and that was also so good! Especially the green sauce that came with it. I'm excited because Houston just got one here and I can't wait to go!
google avatar

Julian A.

Yelp
the food was great, service was quick! I had a steak and it was very tasty -- albeit a lunch portion for $49. I didn't want the fries or salad (doing the carnivore diet) but they still charged the same thing. still, I will be back for sure when I can try other things.
google avatar

Ben K.

Yelp
The food and ambiance were decent. However when you're paying $16 for a cheeseburger and $11 for fries, it better be incredibly delicious. Unfortunately it was just a good burger. No way that I would pay $30 for that meal again. Save your money and find another place to eat.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
Love Hudson House and so happy Fort Worth has a location but this one is near and dear to me. I love the layout and sitting at the bar for a cocktail and a bite to eat. I've always had great service. Food and drinks always come out quickly but I usually come for a late lunch/happy hour time frame. Would love to see the vibe at night for a dinner date some day. My go to menu items are avocado dip, shrimp dynamite, and mac and cheese! They never disappoint. Can't wait to visit the Fort Worth location.

Regular J.

Yelp
food was great as usual, and drinks were also tasty. my friend mentioned that it never really changes much, which is not the reason we will not ever spend money, or recommend any friends spend theirs here is the service. The Lakewood bar staff is absolutely the WORST.
google avatar

Neema S.

Yelp
Visited Hudson House on Sunday morning around 11am for the brunch. It was busy, but we managed to get a table for 3 immediately. The brunch menu is a little more limited than I would have liked, but we were able to find items we wanted. I got the breakfast wrap which came with sausage (subbed with grilled chicken for $3 extra), scrambled eggs, hashbrown, cheese, and avocado. The wrap was well made and satiating. The sauce that came on the side was good too. We also enjoyed the lobster roll and the cajun fries that came with it.
google avatar

Jordananderika P.

Yelp
The food is really good! Fresh & tasty ingredients prepared extremely well! They're open late and have awesome drinks & great service!
google avatar

Yelp
Great happy hour and the bar seating fills up fast but if you can get a seat jump on it and order a stone fruit martini.
google avatar

Yelp
Cheeseburger & Fries Pretty solid cheeseburger! Love the pickle. The fries were super flavorful!! Nice large interior, we had a large booth. Servers friendly.

Yelp
I was not expecting to love HH as much as I did! The Lobster Roll was heavenly and the fries were perfect! I'm ready to go back to try something new!

Yelp
I recently stopped in at Hudson House during happy hour- amazing experience in every aspect! I sat at the bar and loved the professional, friendly, attentive, and overall perfect service by my bartender/server, Sal. I also loved the classy but not pretentious atmosphere and watching the kitchen and bar crew so artfully serve the packed restaurant. My food and drink experience was ... in a word, heaven. Quite possibly the best cheeseburger I've ever had in my life. Oh, and the huge pickle half with seasoning? Crazy delicious. The coleslaw was also tasty, fresh, and had perfect flavor and texture. Don't judge me, but I enjoyed 3 martinis during this visit- the espresso, lemon drop, and stone fruit. All super cold and amazing! Needless to say, I was feeling good when I left! I'd be hard pressed to pick a favorite. My only regret is not trying the other martinis! I guess I will have to come back to do that! Lastly, the key lime pie- definitely recommend as a light and scrumptious ending to your meal, as it was for mine!
google avatar

Yelp
Always the best! Best food! Best service! Best martinis! Brunch, lunch, dinner everything is good!

Yelp
Very good experience at HH. Had a reservation and sat at the bar until table was ready. I had the margarita and my lovely date had the lemon drop. Very tasty and strong drinks. Ordered the burger with the fries. They bring out different sauces which is cool. Not a huge honey mustard guy but the one here is amazing. The burger is very very good. Def worth the hype it receives. They have a good happy hour menu as well.

Karson J.

Yelp
Went for NYE dinner with another couple, and was disappointed the X Mas decor was taken down. Overall service and wait times were long considering it wasn't busy. Food was meh. I'd recommend sticking to oysters and getting the chicken parm. Drinks were meh. The lemon martini was the best one by far, rest were average. We found out things like their espresso martinis aren't used with fresh espresso shots etc, made in batches, not the best.
google avatar

Cori W.

Yelp
Went here with colleagues while in town for the eclipse. We were seated quickly. The interior was on the upscale side and reminded me of the interior of Ted's Bulletin if you know that place. Service was very good except at the end it took forever to get our bills and pay. My colleagues got fish tacos and the salmon. I got the sous vide French chicken. Everyone was pretty happy. My fish taco eating colleague grumbled a bit that the fish "taco " was more like a burrito and not crunchy. My French chicken was divine. Would definitely go again.

Yelp
There is nothing I love more than a cheesy, juicy burger on a sesame seed bun from Hudson House! Pair it with their stone fruit martini and you're GOLDEN! I've been to this location many time and it never disappoints. The service is always top notch, and the food always delicious. Here is what I've tried at Hudson House and how I would rate: - Truffle fries (8/10) - Key lime pie (9/10) - Chocolate silk pie (9/10) - French chicken (9/10) - Beverly salad (9/10) - Cheeseburger (10/10) - Stone fruit martini (10/10) Although I love Hudson House at any time of the year, I especially love going around the holidays when the restaurant is beautifully decorated (be sure to make a reservation). They also have a great happy hour! If you haven't been to Hudson House you need to check it out asap! :)

Yelp
Hudson House is a solid American restaurant that has an emphasis on seafood. We were able to find seating at the bar on a weekend evening. The vibe feels like an old time new England American fare to the place. Saw plenty of people either dressing down or to the nines. We started off with some oysters we can never turn down oysters and these had great flavor with plenty of brine. I also got an old fashioned and this was a great one mixed together tasting all the ingredients. For my main course I got their cheeseburger with some Parmesan truffle fries. The cheeseburger is super flavorful and is just your normal American cheeseburger toppings. The meat was juicy and the burger portion size was big and left me feeling full. Service was great never had to wait on anything and everybody we interacted with was friendly and helpful.

Linda T W.

Yelp
Service is exceptional. Our server, Peyton, was fantastic! The food is excellent. I recommend it all the time.
google avatar

Yelp
This is a great place for happy hour M-F 3pm-6pm. They have half off martinis and Bellinis but it's only at the bar. The service is great they are fun and make your time here enjoyable.

Yelp
Had the pleasure of eating here yesterday and everything we ordered was delicious! My husband and I decided to sit at the bar since there were a few seats available. Once seated the bartender placed white napkins down as our place setting, gave us each a menu and asked us for our drink orders. I ordered the Lemon Drop and my husband the Spicy Mexican. Watching how he made the Lemon drop was very interesting. He topped it off with a lemon foam and once I tried it, it reminded me of a lemon meringue pie, it was so good! Monday-Fridays they have this and other drinks like this for 50% off for their Happy Hour. On weekends it cost $14.00. My husband's Spicy Mexican was also good and spicy. We placed our food order which we ended up deciding to share, so we ordered the Popcorn Chicken from the appetizer's, the cheeseburger and truffle fries. Unfortunately the burger and fries are ordered a la carte. Our appetizer arrived first, served with 3 dipping sauces. Ketchup, and two other dips which seemed to be the same, but were very good. The popcorn chicken arrived nice and hot and tasted so good. When we were done with those our cheeseburger and truffle fries were served and they too were served nice and hot. Their burgers are a pretty nice size and so was the serving of fries. You can order their regular fries which are about $3.00 cheaper, but I think the truffle fries were worth the extra money. The wonderful bartenders checked on us throughout our meal to make sure we were doing ok. We also decided on sharing their key lime pie which we as one of the best tasting key lime pie's either of us had ever ate. The graham cracker crust was so light and the pie filling wasn't as tart as most key limes I've ever tasted. It comes with a dollop of fresh cream on top. This was our first visit to Hudson House and will now go down as our place to eat whenever we're back in the neighborhood.

Corey J.

Yelp
Benjamin makes a great Old Fashioned. I stopped in while waiting for an uber and, while sitting at the bar, I loved the decor and the service was top tier. The hostess immediately took my luggage and backpack to a room in the back while I ate. I highly recommend stopping by for a refreshing meal and impeccable aesthetics. Also, kudos to Zoey, the General Manager. She stopped by to speak with me and clearly has a great team on her hands.

Yelp
Longtime and frequent visits to HH, but this was our first time to try this location. We went for a Saturday brunch. On the positive side, we barely had to wait to get a table...which is odd for the time on a Saturday but awesome! Our appetizer and cocktails were the expected greatness that HH can deliver on. HOWEVER....I hate to do a negative review, and even more so for a brand that has always delivered consistently and maybe it is just this location but... 1. No hot coffee!!?? Their machine has been broken for a few days according to our server. No offense, but if this happened when I worked in restaurants some manager would go buy a couple of Mr Coffee pots in the meantime ESPECIALLY for brunch service before we said we could do ZERO coffee. I'm not talking espresso people, simple coffee or hot tea were not "available". She said she couldn't even do hot water for tea?? Ummm...what? C'mon this is a VANDELAY property? Do better 2. It was very cold in the restaurant .... Two tables by us said same. 3. My Hudson salad had tons of lettuce that was brown and browning. I'm not one to send back and I didn't notice until I had eaten plenty. Just shocked bc I've NEVER experienced anything other than utmost freshness in their salads at other locs.

Yelp
A reasonably new outpost of the Dallas staple, it's a great option in what can be a difficult location to find quality restaurants. The space is beautiful and inviting as is common with most Vandelay concepts. The service was friendly and efficient. I had the French Chicken, which is one of my favorite HH menu items. Overall, the flavor was really good, but the chicken was a bit dry, but not offensively so. I've just had better examples in the past. I would definitely pop in again if I was in the area.

Jason M.

Yelp
Martinis and Burger were delicious. We received excellent service as well. Try and go for happy hour the pricing and menu looked to be a good deal.

Yelp
We visited the Hudson House today while in Dallas. We had an amazing time. Our waiter was so knowledgeable and made several great recommendations!! We loved the ambiance! The lemon drop martini was delicious! The oysters were fresh and the dynamite shrimp was top notch! We will be back! Highly recommend oysters and martinis during Happy Hour.

Yelp
My review will not be long. This place speaks for itself. When we arrived, we were waiting 30 minutes for a table on a Saturday afternoon. It was less than 30 minutes. The food was totally awesome. I ordered the lobster roll and a side salad. The bar was serving one of a kind drinks, off the chain. It was all fresh and delicious. I do think the lobster could be served hot or cold. It came with a side of butter! It also came with celery as well, It was not a complete description of what came on the lobster roll. I would highly recommend this place. The atmosphere was really loud. Everyone was excited about the new location!! Great location

Yelp
Sara Beth was our bartender/server. She was super attentive despite being busy. The seafood here was fresh and this is a highly recommended restaurant. They are on Resy but if Sara Beth is working definitely pull up a barstool.

Yelp
Awful experience at MacArthur location. No cash allowed, no exception. Manager was worth less Do not go to Hudson House. 20% automatic gratuity charege.
